how affordable is it for a trans person to get a new head casing? i also cant help but wonder if novelty phones were marketed as like, a fashion/statement thing!
It's kinda similar to top surgery in terms of financial accessibility. It's something you could conceivably save for, but not very affordable to anyone working being paid, say, the federal minimum wage. Oliver's kinda unique in that he built his due to how badly his employer was doing (basically sticking around at his job out of loyalty to Mr Dickens, despite being barely still being paid by the time you meet him) + having a lot of know-how at putting stuff together.
The only other mentioned instance of someone doing anything like it is Callum Crown building his head. Most other people would be able to save for the procedure to be done instead of having to DIY it like Oliver did.

So during the Shibuya arc, where we get the official Pseudo-Geto reveal, we are treated to this scene.
This scene, which very clearly demonstrates that Geto can still control his own body - albeit very briefly, and to a very small extent. Something that seems to be influenced by Gojo, and also something that seems to take Pseudo-Geto by surprise.
And - it should. Geto is dead. He isn't possessed, his soul isn't tainted - he is dead. He was killed by Gojo himself, far before Pseudo-Geto got his hands on the body. It makes absolutely no sense for Geto to resonate with Gojo's words because Geto is a person who isn't alive anymore.
And then, in JJK 0, we get the interesting case of Rika and Yuta.
It's assumed, at first, that Rika cursed Yuta, manifesting as a spirit after her death. In reality, it was Yuta who cursed Rika by refusing to let go of her. His overwhelming power didn't let her die properly, resulting in her transforming into a cursed spirit, all because he was unwilling to accept that she had died.
So... We know that those that die can be kept alive by powerful sorcerers. If a powerful sorcerer isn't willing to accept someone's death, their power may manifest them into a cursed spirit and keep them around.
Sound familiar?
Now look at this scene from JJK 0, right after we find out that Yuta cursed Rika:
These are Geto's last words. The last exchange he ever had with Gojo, and he says them fully aware that he is about to be killed.

So I see you all are exhausted by streaming services effectively recreating cable. I see you’re all tired of ads. Pirating is a great alternative, but I have another fantastic option for you all!
I live in Seattle. And in Seattle we have America’s largest physical media store, Scarecrow Video. They are a non-profit that has pretty much any film or tv show you can imagine. Like, everything. So much so that one of our local cinemas does a program with them called “Unstreamable” where they show a film from Scarecrow’a archive that you can’t access anywhere online. It’s a bit overwhelming to go to their store, which is two levels of every program under the sun.
ANYWAY, I bring this up because they recently started a Rent-by-Mail program. It’s pretty similar to what Netflix used to do. You can rent up to six titles (barring their super rare stuff and pornos) and they will ship it to you, then you return it in the included pre-paid envelope.
Why does this rock? Sure, you still have to pay money, BUT you are supporting a non-profit that is dedicated to preserving media instead of some corporation looking for endless profit. They can also expand your palette with their vast selection. And if you have a favorite piece of media, you never have to worry about it disappearing! All their stuff is there in perpetuity.
So this is all to say, now that Scarecrow has expanded their reach beyond the Greater Seattle Area, I implore you to check them out. If you don’t want to rent right now, the could always use donations to keep them afloat.
