THE SPY OF THE GODS - we met again and you ran away as always

warning: !spoilers from New Archon Quest "Chapter I: Act IV - We Will Be Reunited"!

“Oh, Dainsleif. . . I didn't know I would meet you here.“ the h/c-haired person said jumping off the stone on which they were sitting. 

The man flinched slightly at the familiar voice, and turned to the direction it was coming from. 

“Y/N. . .”

"You haven't forgotten my name yet. Hm, nice." they said as they approached the taller man with blonde hair. He just looked away. “So, what are you doing here?” 

“And what are you doing here? Are you spying on someone again?” 

They were standing in front of the stone entrance to the domain. Moments before this, a Traveler entered it together with his emergency food little floating friend. Already standing at the entrance, they could feel the disturbing aura emerging from the ruins. 

"Yes? It's my job after all." they said bluntly. 

"Right. . ." he sighed. "Traveler?" 

They nodded in response. "You too?"

"Not really, actually." the blue-eyed responded. "I followed the tracks of Abyss Herald.” 

"Oh, I sensed him too." 

"And I saw your friend too." they added after a while. 

Dain freezed, knowing who the e/c-eyed was talking about. “Friend. . .” he thought. "Will you be waiting for him here?" 

“. . .” Y/N went silent for a moment without answering the question. They looked somewhere in the distance without expressing any emotions. "Do you hate me?" they asked suddenly. 

The man was shocked. Why did they suddenly ask such a question? And why should they think so? 

"Why would I-" 

"-because of what happened in Khaenri'ah" they explained, interrupting him. 

Sudden silence reigned between them. They were looking around when Dain stared straight at them in surprise. He remembers well what happened then. But why would he hate them?

". . . I know what you think about the Archons now, that's why I asked." they said as if reading his mind.

". . . You are not one of them. . ."

"But they created me, right? I am something that was made by their hands. Besides, I was there then too, and I did nothing to help. Doesn't it give you enough reason to hate me-" 

"-it's not like you had a choice." this time it was his turn to interrupt them. He was no longer looking at the h/c-haired, but down. They saw the anger slowly building up in his eyes. He himself did not know why what they said irritated him. "You said it yourself once. You cannot oppose most of the orders these Archons give." his voice grew softer. "You had no choice. Am I correct?" 

“I-. . .” they didn't know what to say. They stared at him speechless. Y/N knew what he said was true. Still, it felt as if it was partly their fault. Everything that happened. In the past and present. After all, they did so many terrible things. . .

“Y/N, I-” suddenly he heard noises coming from the ruins. When he wanted to look at the e/c-eyed, they were no longer there. 

“We met again and you ran away as always. . .” he thought as the traveler and Paimon emerged from the domain. "I hope we will meet soon. . ."

I did this new quest and suddenly I felt an urge to write. I really like Dain even though we don't know a lot about him yet.

and Abyss Herald is kinda hot- sorry

the quest was very interesting for me
