Chapter 1
"Give me my helmet back!"
"Listen, please calm down-"
"Do not tell me to calm down! You took my helmet!"
Gabriella woke up in a small room with a hospital bed, and ripped out her IV once she didn't feel her helmet on her. Now, she's threatening the Justice League with a plastic knife.
"You're the last member of the Nova Corps?" Green Lantern asked carefully.
"Me and my brother. Now. Give. Me. My. Helmet," She said through gritted teeth, still holding the plastic knife out.
"Where did you find it? And your brothers."
She turned to Captain Adam, "My dad left them for us. He was a Nova Centurion."
"Which one-?"
"Does it fucking matter? If you're thinking of Titus, he's the reason why I'm stuck here and not back in New York. And do I look like a giant cat?" She snapped.
"Please, can you explain your situation to us? All we know is that a Nova crashed into a teenagers backyard," Black Canary told her, and she calmed down a bit before nodding and lowering the knife.
"Wait, did anyone get hurt?"
"Luckily no, now please sit," Gabriella sat down at the long table, taking her seat at the front and the rest of the Leaguers sat down and faced her.
"My name is Gabriella Alexander, and my older brother is Sam Alexander. My dad came to Earth and married a human woman - my mom. He vanished when we were really young, and we're still searching for him. We both work with SHIELD and the Guardians of the Galaxy," I explained.
"Who was your father?"
"Jesse Alexander. Look, I-I know he's done some stupid shit, but we still love him. He's my dad, he's always been there for me and my brother, even if it wasn't always the best way," Gabriella knew immediately from Green Lanterns and Captain Adams shock that they were going to judge her dad and possibly her.
"SHIELD, huh?" Batman questioned.
"I don't think you can say anything about SHIELD," Tension filled the room and Flash was immediately worried for the small teenager.
"Uhm, kiddo-"
"SHIELD released everything about themselves onto the internet in order to save the world from genocide. I get hiding your secret identities and all, but that gives you no room to talk shit about SHIELD," Gabriella told him, sneering at Batman who was giving her the famous Bat-glare.
Silence.
"Hehe, well, uhm. . .what's a Nova?" Shazam chuckled nervously.
"The Nova Corps serves in the Vega system on Xandar, choosing only the most noble people to serve the Nova Corps with these helmets. They're an intergalactic military force, and the helmets give them superstrength, speed, reflexes, and perception. But it also depends which rank you are in the force," Green Lantern explained.
"Ranks?"
"Yeah, like your military. The Nova Prime is the highest rank, endowing them with a vast portion of the Nova-Force. Centurions are top tier in the force, it's only from the Centurions that a Prime is chosen. Then there's Denarions, Millenniums, and Corpsman," Gabriella finished, and pointed to my helmet.
"Mine is gold, but my brothers is black. Only a Prime has ever had a black helmet, but we're the last two so there's really no one to 'promote' us," She shrugged.
"Can I go home now?" Gabriella asked as Captain Adam handed her back her helmet.
"Actually, now knowing that, we may need your help," Superman spoke up.
"She doesn't need to be involved," Wonder Woman interjected.
Superman turned to Gabriella, feeling small in the presence of the Man of Steel himself, "How much do you know about the Vega system?"
"Pretty much everything. Why?"
"Do you know who The Reach is?" Batman asked her.
"Of course, who doesn't?"
Silence.
"Oh, that's why you asked me. Okay, yeah. What about them?"
