Who’s Who: The Gambler

Last one for now, before I delve a bit into the magic in The Winding and the world itself.
The Gambler is another character who is so embroiled in the central mystery and plot of The Winding that it’s difficult to say much about him without spoiling things. He is ancient and eternal, the cautionary voice in your ear when a hard decision must be made, or the thrilling tingle up your spine when you take a chance. When you find yourself at a crossroads, know that he’s there by your side.
What I can say is that the Gambler was one of the first characters to come into being, long before I started actually writing my book itself. He was a favourite of mine to draw and his mysterious disappearance, which is at the heart of The Winding’s story, was one of the first plot points I figured out.
So, who is the Gambler? Good question. Where is the Gambler and why does the Crossroads now stand empty under wrathful skies? Now that’s the question that really needs answering. Before it’s too late.
