So normally my headcanon is something like "Romeo went to Japan to get away from the ruins of his family's fortune and his old life and Taiga basically adopted him"

But I was listening to the Taiga chat where he asks Haru if he's fattened up Peekaboo yet. And when he says 'you're not even gonna say hello' in Japanese he uses an auxillary verb, 'chau'. But i was only half listening and it sounds like 'ciao', which he does say, albeit usually as goodbye and not hello.

And a new headcanon hit me.

Taiga, in all his impulsiveness. . .one day decided to take a flight to Italy.

Went to the nearest airport, threw down some cash, got on a plane, and went to Italy. If you ask him why he wouldn't remember why. It was just something he decided to do. Probably had a real good slice of pizza or something and went 'i bet they have even better pizza in italy'. He has plenty of money from gambling and a life of crime, he can afford to just. Leave the country for a while.

Somewhere along the line he met Romeo--before Romeo's family went to shit even. And, oops, Romeo is the prettiest person he has ever seen.

Unfortunately Romeo has guards.

Unfortunately for Romeo's guards, Romeo may have not be a ghoul at this point, but Taiga was.

And Romeo was impressed. Because honestly what do they even pay these people for? He basically decides to take Taiga home like he found a stray animal and Taiga decided to stick around and play bodyguard. It was pretty boring being a bodyguard but he was really fascinated by Romeo.

And then things went to hell and Romeo lost everything. Taiga had Romeo stay out of sight while he kept anyone who dared to hunt him down away from him.

But he couldn't keep a demon away from him.

Romeo came out of hiding, caused a few electrical explosions, and fled with Taiga. He apologized to him--he'd never done that before--and bitterly said he didn't have anything left to give him for keeping him safe. He even gave up his soul just now. What an idiot, giving up the one thing he had left.

". . .you've got your body left, don't you?" It was a tone suspiciously like the one the demon had used for him, but Taiga couldn't keep his composure and laughed. "I guess I just have to take you then!"

And before Romeo knew it he was on a flight to Japan.

I finally started to feed resources to his card (guess who’s my main at the moment? lol), once his affinity goes up a bit I’ll include him in my home page squad

I had a dumb little dream that i posted something where romeo was like "taiga's birthday is coming up since we're talking again i should probably do something for him"

And i don't think the dream ever got to taiga's birthday so i'll never know if he got that blowjob or not but for some reason this was very funny to me))

This video combined with Ace's story about Romeo singing and my headcanon about Taiga meeting Romeo in Italy has spawned:

Taiga found his way into some music hall in Italy where Romeo happened to be performing that night(as a hobby, his family did something else) and toppled his dumb ass over hearing Romeo sing

And then he tried to follow him home because 1) his face was pretty 2) what else can he make that voice do his voice was pretty 3) he's an idiot who did not consider that he shouldn't try and follow strangers in a country he doesn't really speak the language of

(the part about Taiga getting too close and then beating Romeo's guards impressing pre-ghoul Romeo so much that he takes him home as a new bodyguard still stands.)

Cute! And very good for Romeo, doesn’t him hurt to broaden his view on the concept of good looks

Romeo's very slow and gradual interest in chubby bodies begins with that Taiga gains a few pounds while on probation since he can't run around after anomalies like normal and instead he sits around and eats and gambles and then goes back to his room

And he's still strong and muscular but he's also getting quite soft and since they're in probation they're starting to be a little close again so he keeps noticing that Taiga's a little. Squishier. And he tells him but Taiga doesn't give a shit he's still hungry actually and still can't go on missions so he isn't getting as much exercise hunting anomalies on campus(and going to the gym is boring working out is boring--)

And Romeo likes Taiga you see. So even if Taiga is a little out if his usual shape he likes Taiga and he starts to like that because it's part of Taiga. Also since he can hug Taiga again it's kind of nice to hug him when he's a little softer than normal.

And yeah Taiga's gonna go back to running around on missions like a wild animal when their probation is lifted and he'll lose the weight again but also consider Romeo's eyes a little opened. Let him reconsider a little bit that perhaps the body isn't the problem but the way the clothes fit that body. Then he can start to see things a little differently.

((i was rereading some parts and i noticed in some panels and art they really put a little more weight in taiga's arms and hands like. . .if they weren't sticking to the bishie art style he'd be a bit more visibly muscular wouldn't he. . .like not alan or tohma level but. . . .))

So Taiga:

Eats anomalies(meat/animals, plants, enzymes, inorganic matter such as the mask; so far he can eat any physical anomaly even if it's made of solid material)

Thinks food the player eats looks good and wants to eat some(autumn home screen 11am-4pm in the time on your server)

Appears to eat processed meat in warding card art(at the very least the meat doesn't look raw)

Drinks regular alcohol(? The alcohol was made in an anomalous phenomenon by an anomaly/spirit, so it may not have been 'real'? But see the next point)

Doesn't like the taste of anomalous plants and enzymes processed into alcohol that ordinary people can consume.

So basically it seems like Taiga likes non-anomalous food of any sort(or he can enjoy it, or thinks he would if he sees something that looks like it tastes good?) but doesn't like processed anomalies, only raw ones? And prefers to eat anomalies and experiences a specific, separate hunger relating to them(they specifically mention plenty of food being available, complimentary, so he likely ate regular food on the mission but no anomalies before eating the mask? The image sequences for that scene are called "TaigaGivesIn" which suggests he was restraining himself) that pulls him to eat them if he hasn't in a while?

The sight(or smell?) of anomalous blood also may be able to trigger this hunger, as the PC's wound from being shot at starting to bleed made his behavior change suddenly. When he was going to lick their blood he was interrupted by Romeo and eventually chose to eat the Like Dove instead. This didn't happen on the train because the curse was still fresh and the PC hadn't started changing yet.

Just. I wanna sit around and study the way Taiga eats lol

The fact that Taiga now takes breaks by coming into the VIP room and draping himself all over the couch nearest Romeo is. . .an improvement, even if he won't help.

He's at least present and visible. Their underlings are, perhaps, confused, although the third years seem relieved at the slightest bit of status quo returning to Sinostra. Before Captaincy was transferred this was the norm. Seeing Romeo without seeing Taiga was a rarity, except when he went to Frostheim. They were rarely more than a foot apart from one another, assuming they weren't leaning on each other or holding onto each other in some way.

This was how things were supposed to be. If only they lasted longer than the length of one of Taiga's naps.
