Why didnât they overpower the entire human population after The Shadow Nights?
As you get into the depths of both the Guardians' and the Vampires' worlds the pieces fall in place and you discover secrets that have been hidden to the civilians like you. Secrets that will make you question the whole sense of your existence. Eventually bringing calamities upon your kin.

The breath comming out of your nose is soundful, agitated, even if you are walking at a normal pace. The alleyway of your neighborhood felt more inviting that it does now when you decided to step in your way back from work.
Although knowing that walking alone at night, is far more dangerous than is rational to do, you needed a breather. Now you regret even thinking this was a good idea.
The things that come out when the sun goes down haunt children's nightmares and have parents sleepless at night. The mind image of those creatures, has your heart beating so strong and rapidly you can hear it pulsating in your ears. 'Fuckfuckfuck!' your mind repeats as you fasten your pace.
You catch on a sudden eerie sound above your head. It could only be described as clothes blowing violently in the wind, but there is nothing fit to sound like that in the back windows meeting the alleyway. The feeling it arises from within you, puts all your senses on alert. Then you freeze. A silhouette stands tall a few steps ahead of you, having its back to the lights.
The darkness around and behind you add to your state of frenzy. Looking up you see the lamppost above you is off but the alley was perfectly illuminated when you took your way in it. Now it not only feels unsafe, but dangerous. Noticing your paws trapped in the spider web, the blood goes cold in your veins.
The shadow, that thing's energy, falls on you like the low note of a piano. One second it's far away, the next he isn't and you feel his electrifying touch before everything turns black.
Waking up disoriented and having lost track of how long you'd been passed out, you rubb your eyes. Still not daring to sit down, you stay in your slight dizziness lying down over the fluffy pillows all over the divan where you have been placed.Â
"What a beautiful creature," you hear a voice, out of nowhere, breaking the silence.

A man is sitting down on a nearby chair. His charming sultry tone mismatching his unreadable demeanour. The way he seats, completely straight with the tall and cushioned back of the chair attached to his body, his cold and lacking of emotion stare in that ethereally beautiful face, and his three-piece black suit, makes your skin crawl.
An inhuman energy emanates from him, as if his hands were on top of the exposed skin of your belly, warm, yet you are sure his long and slim fingers aren't. They have to be cold like his eyes have turned, switching from warmth to ice in a blink, piercing you and anchoring you to him.

"I can feel itâ" he announces. Long dangerous fangs barely hiding behind those appetizing lips. "What I do to youâ" he whispers, with his baritone voice lowering an octave, almost like a purr. With it, you expected a smirk that doesn't show but something switches inside you.
Like the pitcher plant with its scent that attracts insects to fall for its trap, he is it, you know and feel the flower is a predator but deep down you just want to fall into it.Â
Suddenly you gain your senses back, the ability to move your body from your lying position. He doesn't. He stays still in his perfection as you walk his way; his eyes on you, impassive. You can feel his thirst somehow, in the way his eyes switch slightly from your face to the veins on your throat. Or the striking fear that would have paralysed you in another situation. Still, you walk and kneel in front of him.
He doesnât move when your hands reach to his face and you surprise yourself by kissing him. First, it is just the touch of two individuals' lips. Until he moves.Â
Before you know it, you are on the floor. Sharp pain preventing your throat from exuding the scream it holds. Your breath is cut short with it, and your mind and vision start to spin as you hear him swallow the life out of you.Â
Then he releases you and exhales with a grunt, breath enraged as his whole body vibrates whilst yours begins to shut down. In a matter of a second, his lips are on yours again and a thick, warm metallic liquid pours down your throat; making you feel like you are going to choke. Left with no option, you swallow and a chill runs down your spine with disgust.
Just like that, he sets you free from his life threatening stumble against everything you passed as you ran away from him, hearing his voice, still weak and senseless.
"Embrace itâ" he whispers. "Come back to me."Â You fall on the floor and gasp for air. In that position you see blood drip from his chin and onto his black shirtâs neck; showing a wet stain. When your eyes rolled down you saw his left sleeve up and an actively healing wound in his wrist.
"What have you done to me?" you question, holding your upper weight in your hands.
"I gifted you," he says, finally standing. You understand what he means immediately. You have heard about it, read about it, yet you thought it a stupid legend.Â
Their existence makes sense. Human evolution. Something to control the plague that your kind had become. But turning into one of them, changing the cells of your body to become the complex creature they are seemed just stupid. Yet there's a painful tingle extending over your body, sending your heart into frenzy, that let's you know its truthfulness.
Rage leads you to launch against him and he holds you in place without hurting you. His control over what you know is an overpowered strength makes you feel something new, similar to hunger, something that sets tension under your belly.
Only for it to be shaken by the knowledge of everyone you know or love being afraid of the very being you are becoming. You hit him on the stomach and he acts unfazed.
"Who the hell do you think you are!?" you exclaim as you slap him. Again no reaction but when you try to punch him once more but he holds your wrist effortlestly.Â
"That is going to hurt..." he says in a monotone but you can read sadness in his eyes.
Then you feel a pulsation in your body and as if something has exploded in your very being. You try to scream but nothing comes out of your vocal cords. 'Do I have them?' you think, feeling as if your body is disintegrating. You can't feel the tears running down your cheeks like cascades. Neither hear, or see, anything anymore.Â
After what seems like an eternity of you wishing dead overcomes you, another pulsation takes over the pain and you finally pass out.
When you wake up the room is way too hot for mid-autumn and you aren't in the same place you remember. You are facing a wall in what seems like an horizontal cubicle and panic for a second thinking it's a casquette. The only thing illuminating it is a crack in the wood over your head that allows a slight sun ray into the small space, giving you an understanding that.
That one little light irritates you and you shift your position, to find yourself face to face with last night's beautiful devil, like an angel, with his eyes closed.
You stare at him in the dim light. How perfect his whole is, how peaceful he seems and you feel the pull again, as if his mere presence is calling for you.Â
"Go back to sleep..." he encourages, without opening his eyes. Then shifts to hug you as if you are a pillow. His strange warmth setting butterflies in your stomach before you remember the guy is the reason for your damnation. Your hand tries to reach to hit him, again. Imprisoned as you are, you only manage to hit somewhere low in his body. His eyes open a second after, cold and stern.Â
âYou need to stop doing that,â he warns lowering his tone aggravated, the threat under lines causing you to instinctively surrender. But as you calm down, the thirst comes crushing down on you so strong, it makes you dizzy. You pant for air, until your eyes settle on his throat.Â
âUh-â he mutters right before your mouth closes in that specific area where you have been able to spot an artery. Puncturing through blind but effortlessly and obtaining a moan as you start swallowing.Â
Still surrounded by his arms, his body rises in goosebumps, as if he is enjoying it. Mindful of the liquid touching your taste buds and sliding down to be swallowed, his blood flavours seem to change, turning the butterflies in your stomach into a completely different thing. The tension travells down in your body eliciting a moan from you this time and you breathlessly release him.
"Cool, uh?" he murmures, separating just enough to speak before his lips meet yours again. His he moved, and then it traced the sharpness of your fangs and your clothes started bothering you.Â
A droplet of blood slips down the corner of your mouth as you forget to close it and suck in any leftover moisture. Your eyes travel down from the already healing wound to the little show of skin on his first two undone buttons, smooth and part of the generous body that emanates a power that enchants you.
He makes your hands burn with the lack of his body under them, your mouth water from the taste of his immaculate skin and blood. The want growing under your belly turns almost painful the more you think about what might be held under the soft blue silk of his attire.
He smirks, then approaches to kiss you, licking on the middle of your lower lip before engaging his lips with yours. His taste shots an electrifying sensation through your body that runs to the tip of your fingers and toes. The first instinct that kicks in you is to grab onto him for more.
You felt him smirk again, while the devious muscle explored the depths of your sinful cavity and a moan escaped the back of your throat before you pulled him down to switch positions, almost hitting your head with the other side of the cubicle with the impulse. Still not adjusted to your newfound abilities.
There you felt it. His bulge, hard like steel, caged inside the fabric of his trousers. Involuntarily, out of pure instinct, you grinded your hips against him, eliciting a grunt out of him. His eyes closed and his nose wrinkled as he showed his teeth.
Right after, in a split second, you were on your back and his eyes observed you from above before he caressed your cheek and slid down to your sternum. Closing his eyes, he stayed like that for a few seconds and when he opened them, your body could tell what was coming next.Â
Both your clothes went off the quickest you'd have ever imagined and the way he looked at your nakedness made you blush like you'd never been naked in front of anyone before. Then you realized.
"Holy-I don't even know your name..." you said, feeling apprehensive about it.
"I'm Taehyung," he whispered, leaning over your lips and moving to your ear. "And your name is Anya, I know." Then he lowered, nibbled on your neck, and pulled one of your thighs up, aligned with your body. He gave you a boxy smile, looking angelic and innocent, "Don't worry about anything." before he switched back to his lustful demeanor. "Only those who fear their own wants and wishes judge. And I fear nothing." he culminated before pushing himself slowly inside of you.Â
Your body desperately craved his and it was a perfect slide, with no sting besides the pressure of your walls against his thickness.Â
It all went smoothly, but even with your body's acceptance, it all felt overwhelming. The boundaries and moral codes, you had been raised by your family and the society you lived in, were cracking in a million pieces with every wave of pleasure that came with his thrusts.
You weren't you, or not at least who you used to be, and it felt scary but at the same time, you were floating. A freedom you'd never felt before was cutting the strings and pushing the cover to show who you really were inside.
"Now I'm the only thing that's going to dominate you..." he whispered in your ear before holding your wrists above your head. His weight held over the forearms, allowing him to push deeper and make you mewl against his earlobe; so low, it sounded like a whine.Â
He raised his head to meet your eyes, and affected by the fact you had no control closing them, your lids fluttered to meet his gaze. Whatever he was looking for, he found it and pulled out of you, moving to the side before he turned you over your stomach. Calmly tracing the curve of your back to the hip before he squished your ass-cheeks and leaned against you, he played with your patience and want. Then, as he pushed his shaft in between your thighs to find your entrance, you felt your own wetness cooled down against his velvety skin, anticipation building to feel him whole again.Â
"Good girl..." he whispered when your hips rolled up to allow him an easy slide.Â
Biting on your shoulder as he took a comfortable position, with one arm holding his weight and the other settled on your hip, he started to thrust. His weight, the temperature of your bodies, and the softness of your skin against each other felt unreal. You finally focused only on the moment, lived in it, and surrendered to the very act and its purity; two bodies connected and entangled in the most intimate way.
Your hand reached up to his hair, fingers entwined on his dark silky texture while his hips rolled against your rear. Energetic. Paced. Enjoying, as if there was nothing else to care for in the world. There really wasn't.
"Can-we, change-positions?" you proposed between thrusts.Â
He didn't say a word but lied on his back and put his hands behind his head as if he knew what you wanted. The power he exuded when relaxed, instead of being cocky, made you reaffirm on your decision. With one knee at each side of his body, you slid him inside of you. Slow, closing your eyes. Trying to feel him whole, focusing your mind only on what you were doing, to the point of feeling even his veins.Â
"You got it beautiful..." you said, still with your eyes closed. The smell of blood making you open them suddenly. His right fang was piercing the side of his lip while those icy and lustful eyes were on your being again.Â
You moved your hips up, just as slowly, and then slid back down. You both closed your eyes, lost in the moment of your connection. So sensitive to him, you could feel the swells, the twitches, the double takes of air, and the slight changes of rhythm. So much, so clear, when your climax was near, you both opened your eyes and he leaned forward to be chest against chest. The erotic friction of your nipples against his skin and the way your eyes wouldn't leave each other made it rip through you like an explosion. Feeling its blow on your core first, the after waves that flowed over your skin and in your veins right after.
The sound of pure ecstasy escaped your throat, echoing in the little space like a mermaid song against the sinking rocks, high-pitched with its own melody and notes. Taehyung observed, rejoicing in the art of your expression and explosion before he felt the tension and pulsations lower down. Your back met the floor again, in that instant his hand slid under between your bodies as he thrust, playing with your bud.Â
He still seemed far from his own end, pushing as if he had just started. Until you buckled your hips against his and his breath hitched. He stopped, trying not to come for a second.Â
"Oh no, sir," you muttered with a smirk and used your force to switch positions, making him gasp a little when his back met the cushioned floor. Moving your hips against him again, you oppressed his swollen member and made him grip onto your hips. His jaw clenched, still fighting the urge, a strange pride showing on his unwillingness to let you make him reach his extasis. "Let go..." you whispered.
"No," he replied sternly and pulled your upper body down to thrust in you, holding you by the nape with one hand while the other surrounded your waist.Â
"Damn it..." you muttered. In no time he had you singing for him again. Only then, he allowed himself to spill his thick and warm essence, inside of you. His grunts, turning you on again; the morning sex session far from being done.Â
When the sun was hiding on the horizon, like a spring, you jolted awake; hearing him speak with someone, you stayed quiet.Â
"What are we going to do now?" another voice said, higher on its notes but still deep.Â
"I didn't think much about that when I did it, to be honest," Taehyung replied. Then you could feel the irritation emanating from the other man while Taehyung's gaze lancing through the wood, straight at you. "You can come out now, love," he whispered, then you heard footsteps and someone pulled the cubicleâs cover open.
You saw him sitting, like a warlord on a throne.

"Sit down, please," he said but you hesitated, looking around the room before you saw the other guy. But then you felt a pull again, like a hand that tilted your head by the chin, and looked at him. "Here," he commanded, showing the chair at his side with his hand.Â

You obeyed. No thoughts, no nothing. You just obeyed.

You felt the other manâs eyes on you before diverting your head his way. His stare was intense as if he wanted to read you, or see through you. Taehyung tensed at your side, his voice sounded powerful like a leash around the neck.
âCareful how you look at her.â The other male just smiled at him, changing his expression completely. Suddenly looking like a fluffy bunny.Â
âShe smells like youâŚâ the stranger replied with a chuckle, almost blushing, letting his undercut faded green hair, fall to the side. âI think no one would dare to touch her.â
His comment reminded you about the activities in the little space under the room's floor and you sniffled yourself quietly to know what it was like. The smell of the cotton clean white dress that you wore but didnât remember changing into, hit first, with its fresh laundry scent, making you feel cozy. Then, the smell of sex and blood, hit your nostrils. His scent on your skin, clear and distinguishable like you could choose what particles you wanted to get the hint of. The smell of your own blood, mixed with Taehyung's, making the tingle feeling on your eyes and fangs happen again. It made the bunny-man chuckle softly.Â
You noticed a strange prickle in your skin but didnât dare to look.
âShe looks kind of feral right now but he can still snap her like a twig if she breathes the wrong way near him." added the other while examining you from head to toe and his tongue poked between his front teeth with a smile when your eyes met.Â
âHe wonâtââ interjected Taehyung, calmly.
"He can try." you barked and stood with your fangs on displayed, not ever knowing who you were talking about but understanding the statement as a threat. A smirk appeared on his lips as you felt Taehyung's eyes on your back, then you guessed they switched to his companion, as his attitude turned more submissive this time.
"I didn't mean to offend. Still, you should know your place⌠Anya.â he pronounced with narrowed eyes and a seductive smirk. âIâm older...â he whispered. Taehyung then stood to hug you from the back, his head rested on your shoulder, surprising you. "I'm Taehyung's younger cousin, Jungkook. Nice to meet you." He offered his hand to shake, but when you didn't respond Taehyung moved your hand to Jungkook's, allowing him to kiss it.
The whole situation was surreal and made it very difficult for you to know what to do. All you seemed to be able to do was take what came and act through instincts and impulses. It all made you feel strange, too used to things being under control.
âI have all you need, waiting for you in the bathroom.â Tehyung offered, letting go of his embrace to switch positions, hands resting on your back as he pulled you closer to his body. âYou are so beautiful,â he murmured, kissing the bridge of your nose. You rested your hands on his hard but welcoming chest and looked at him, reaching for a kiss only to receive a nose rub against yours. âGo, get ready.â he playfully demanded and let you go.
"Nice. She's going to stay here with you." you heard Taehyung say as you turned off the tub.
âYou're going to ask the king for advice, won't you? SheâŚâ he lowered his voice a lot there but you focused your hearing, surprised on how you were able to get it. â...the change yet⌠I mean, I donât mind cleaning up but I know nothing about teaching new vampires. Like⌠This-This is a mess hyungâŚâ
âI just want her to relax while her body-â you suddenly heard a loud, high pitch ring that made you cover your ears and squint your eyes. Feeling dizzy, your vision blurred and you could hear your muffled breath become erratic. With your damp hands, you rubbed your face and you shook yourself to wise up your senses but it didnât work.Â
When you tried to grab the edge of the bathtub, one of your nails separated from the flesh and went up. The terrifying image repeated itself on the other hand. For what felt like an hour, every single nail was pushed out by a newly growing one.Â
The tinnitus lowered with your change of focus but it was still there, persistent on its purpose, whatever it was. Then you thought that was probably part of the change and that your body was now getting rid of old cells. So you had to be shedding dead skin too. Getting "healed" from all the "damage" in your body, to have a healthy and appealing appearance to attract your victims. Just like Taehyung had demonstrated a few hours ago. It all made too much sense to not be like that.
Looking at the back of your shoulder where the dry blood was on patches now a mix of dead skin raising and newborn skin, the tattoo there was mostly gone. You were sure you could just peal it off but the idea made you squirm in disgust.Â
Then you stood from the tub and ran to the mirror, barely recognizing the reflection looking back. Your hair was some inches longer and became super soft by the roots. The dye had faded through the parts where your hair was still alive. Every piercing hole reverted to what it once was pristine skin. Your face's skin only with some patches of the old one on the chin and the jawline looked flawless and radiant, as if the last times of not taking proper care of yourself and your diet had disappeared. Your teeth were straight and shining white, as if a new set had been grown overnight. You realised the high pitch sound had stopped, then turned around searching for your scars, with that discomfort out of the way.Â
The one at your knee from playing in an abandoned lot when you were eight was gone. The one on your foot from when you stepped on a poking nail at the age of eleven had also disappeared. The same happened with the rest and you were astonished.Â
Then, trying to go back to the bathtub, you slipped on the wet mess on the floor and slammed your jaw against the thick porcelaine edge. The crack sound and the taste of blood made you run to the mirror again. Spitting out in the sink as you noticed something rolling in your tongue, a molar tooth was projected against it with its characteristic tinkle sound.Â
âSHIT!â you cussed, poking with your tongue at the bleeding cavity. "FUCK!â
âDonât worry about it, itâll grow again.â said Taehyung behind you, leaning on the closed door. 'I didn't latch the lockerâŚ'
âHow come?â you asked, noticing the bleeding was slowing down and the healing power of your platelets was working to close the wound. He approached to lead you back inside the tub with graceful movements, holding your hand. Then poured toffee and honey scented soup in a brand new loofah, to rub it on your neck and back, pulling off any spots of dead skin with gentleness. âIâm waitingâŚâ you told him, opening your eyes and meeting his.
âIâll start with the explanations when we finish this.â he asserted. âYouâre immortal now, have plenty of time for everything. Youâll have to learn that too.â he explained.
âThatâs not entirely true, right? The sun-â you questioned.Â
He chuckled and smiled.
âThatâs a legend. We donât burst into flames with the sunrise as theyâd say.â he replied. âItâs uncomfortable and it does burn us easier than it does with humans, but thereâs sunscreen, glasses and all that nice stuff that will make it easier and safer. So thatâs not really a thing.â he explained.Â
âWhat about silver bullets?â he chuckled longer this time, boxy smile doing its appearance again.Â
âWe heal easily from anything that doesnât affect a vital organ. If it does hit a vital organ, which would be just bad luck because youâve seen how fast we can do things⌠It depends. A go through wound, where the âweaponâ gets out of the body, will heal. It takes a little bit longer and things do hurt, as youâve already experienced. Youâll get more or less used to the pain, and will be able to act past it. Most of the time. Lord⌠You really are pulling my tongue arenât you?â he then realized.
âIs that a âtalentâ?â you inquired. "I don't recall doing anything, I'm just listening."
âI donât know if itâs a âtalentâ but itâs definitely a talent.â he giggled, placing your right hand over his thigh to take care of your arm.
âWhy me?â you questioned. Your smile faded, along with his.
âThatâs a good question with no easy answer,â he said. âLetâs leave it as⌠I felt like it.â he added. You pulled your hand and eyes away, processing; feeling wrong as it were as if you expected to be âspecialâ.
âThatâs capricious.â you pronounced, noticing his eyes on you but not daring to look at him and let your building up anger get the best of you. âYou donât just-turn someone because you feel like it.â You puffed air, in disbelief.
âWith my age, believe me that thereâs not much remorse on what you do or you donât.â he voiced sternly but you noticed the crack in his words, a lie. As if you knew him enough to know that. But you whined down the brewing anger and worked your wheels to get to the truth.
âThatâs a lie and I know why.â you told him, finally looking at him. âThe way you looked at me before I started turning, was exactly that, remorseâ"Â
âIâm not sadistic. Thatâs all it was.â he sincerely proclaimed and this time you believed him. âI wouldnât enjoy seeing someone in pain even if I did it on purpose. Itâs just not in our nature and you can probably guess why.â
âOtherwise youâd probably exterminate us all.â you concluded.Â
âExactly.â he said, grabbing your hands again. âYour nails are going to be strong, try to keep them neat. They cut like knives.â he commanded, while switching his vision from them to your eyes again.
âAm I a servant or something?â you wondered. The whole âI felt like itâ undermining any sense of belonging or purpose.Â
âDoes it look like I want you to be my servant?â he replied with his eyebrows up, as if caught off guard. "One doesn't sleep with those who serve him, it's turbulent and brings problems most of the time."Â
So you decided to guess.
âEntertainment?â Â
âNo...â he replied sternly.
âSoldier?â
âNo.â
âCookâŚ?âÂ
âNo.â this time he looked away, jaded.
âYour martial arts teacher?â
âNoâŚ" he raised a brow there, starting to look annoyed.
âSex-slave!âÂ
âNo- What the fuck, Anya?â he grilled, meeting your eyes again.
âJust making sure you werenât answering automatically.â you said naughtily, yet putting on an unharming face. âSo you havenât thought what to do with me yetâŚâ you concluded.
âHavenât I told you-?â
âYeah, I just donât buy that.â you shrugged, earning a baffled glance. âI know, I just know. No-one, ever, just does things for the sake of it⌠Sometimes they donât even know where the purpose comes from but thereâs always one. Just like thereâs always a cost.â you told him. âDid you have both your parents growing up?â There he laughed.Â
âThatâs funny,â he scoffed. âNo psychoanalysis of me, love. One, because it wonât work.â Then he moved fast to rub your back fully, making you feel a little bit stressed out. Then he gave you the loofah and pointed to the shower. âTwo, you wonât get an answer on what you want to know. Now, finish your shower.â he ordered, closing the transparent curtains. âAnd by the way, it takes three weeks to grow a new tooth after you turn, try not going around losing them.â And with that he closed the door shut.
âThat was cute.â you heard Jungkook say at the other side, presumably smiling.
âJungkook-â Taehyung breathed out, tiredness in his tone.
âI know-I know. Iâm sorry.â he said before giggling and you were able to hear Taehyung puff air out, assumingly rolling his eyes.
As you went out dressed in another white cotton nightgown, the smell hit you, and you ran through the hallway to the living room that, when you used your hands on the door frame to turn faster, you pulled it out; topping straight away and looking at it shocked. The laughs behind you made you turn to face them. Jungkook clapped as he cracked up.

"OmgâŚ!" he kept on laughing. "Our president will love her." Taehyung nodded. "What brought you here so fast?"Â
"Dumplings." You were thirsty, not hungry, although it seemed to you like it was both. Your enthusiasm for food hadnât gone away. Jungkook started laughing again.
"Oh my-! She's so cute!" he said out of breath. "Jimin will like her too, right? I mean-" Taehyung gave a certain look to him, stern, severe, but not dangerous and Jungkook stopped his prattle.
"Please, sit down, love." said Taehyung, walking his way to the eight seat table and offering you a seat at the right from one of the ends. Then he helped you take a seat.
"You might not know why you created me but you definitely are a gentleman." you appreciated his gesture. He stayed a moment behind you.
"Manners make a man." he responded. "But, what about if we leave the turning and purpose subject alone at the dinner table." he added as he sat down on that end, looking at you.
"Ok." you decided. "I thought you didn't eat." you told him curiously.
"We don't need to eat as it is but it's still enjoyable to do so, from time to time." he replied.
"Our existence is very sustainable, we do not need to create waste or overproduction as humans do." Jungkook commented. "Welcome in, you just became a very green existence with almost no print over the planet!" The idea made you smile. "Pretty." he said, changing to mischief. You ignored the compliment.
"To what do we owe the pleasure then?" you wondered, putting your attention on Taehyung, who had turned towards his cousin.
"Wasn't sure how you'd feel if I threw a person over the table to drink straight from the vain." His stern face, once he looked at you, made it complicated to know if he was joking or stating a fact. "I'm just kidding, we don't do that." he clarified once he noticed the blood was draining from your face, then moved from his static position.Â
"How do we feed then?"
"There's people who willingly donate their blood either in bags or they'll just let you fang themâŚ" Responded Jungkook with a giggle, the double meaning joke made you snort and hold your laugh.Â
"I thought you could enjoy this." confessed Taehyung. "I mean, we're going to be spending an eternity together. It'll make sense that I start showing you the advantages of your new life." he put the napkin on his chest very sir-like. His look-alike XIV century suit making part of the job.Â
"Food is the first thing your kind seems to miss." adds Jungkook.
"Uh⌠Actually, we are not the same, right? I wanted to ask that." Both of them looked at you but Jungkook only for a second as he took the dumplings out of the steamers to serve them. "I mean, born from turned."
"No, we are not." Taehyung answered. "Do you really wanna know?" You nodded to his inquiry. "I won't get into the depths of it because I'll bring you books that will answer your questions more objectively but⌠Pregnancies of our kind last long and our fertility isn't very high. Nature is really wise. In the same way it only allowed us that much, it gave us an alternative. I'm guessing just in case our survival would be put at risk, we could createâ"
"Soldiersâ That's whyâ I'm inclined to obey you?" you understood.
"Yes," he said. "That wasn't the reason I created you anyway." he paused there when Junkook placed a bamboo plate in the middle of the table.Â
"We are the same because we belong to the same species. We were born from homo sapiens and you are one, then you turn into one of us. But since you aren't born and developed in your mother's womb like we do, you lack certain abilities and your existence seems to be shorter than ours." explained Jungkook. "Sometimes it's even shorter than your normal rate--" you only listened at this point, trying to absorb and process.Â
"If I extend," interrupted Taehyung. "your kind, sometimes struggle to adapt and end up killing themselves. Some just weaken and perish with the time." He grabbed a dumpling with his chopsticks and offered it to you, hesitating you took a bite on it.Â
"Most of the time, your nature wins. Greed makes you crazy and youâll become a danger to our kind's safety and it's us who have to finish you." clarified Jungkook, but the set of images their proclamations shot in your brain drained the colour of your face. "Your case is different. Turners, not often feed their spawns with their own blood." said Jugkook with a giggle. When your eyes met Taehyung's, he seemed busted. "Not even when they turn them. A poised bite is more than enough. We work like snakes in that matter."
"Is that wrong?" you asked. "Giving your blood, I mean."Â
"Blood is sacred. We choose very carefully with whom we share itâŚ" Jungkook seemed amused. "and it's always, or ninety-eight percent of the time, with our partners." he explained. You blushed while Taehyung was simply silent, looking nowhere. Then his eyes met yours and you felt apprehensive again. What he'd done was meaningful. 'Why won't he tell me why he turned me though? Is it just that? To be his partner?'
"So you turned me to be your partner? No choice there for meâ and in case I hesitateâ" The thoughtmade your stomach twist, at the verge of throwing up. "You can always use your influenceâ" 'The attraction⌠my choice to⌠it was all fakeâŚ'
"I didn't turn you for that. You can say no, I wasn't using my influence when we had sex," you sensed Jungkook leave the room. "and you are free to go and do as you please with your life," Taehyung defined. "In fact, I feel responsible for whatever you do since I turned you but my purpose was fulfilled the moment your fangs poked out. If you'd prefer it I can find you a new mentor. Letting you roam around uninstructed would be a danger to my people. So I won't allow it. Now it's up to you if you want to be around me anymore or not." he finished. Then, looking away, he continued eating. By the intensity of his chew and the slight frown, you could tell he was upset, although his tone had been calm all the time. Even if those details could have easily been missed.Â
'~I felt like it...~ He really just felt like it...'

After a pregnant silence in which he ate and you just sat down absentmindedly, Jungkook came back, left a book in front of your empty glass and sat down to eat too. When you finally found your mind, you wondered.
"If I decide to stayâ"
"I'm listening," said Taehyung once he'd swallowed, meeting your eyes for just a split second, still bothered. You understood you had offended him.
"Will you promise to answer my questions truthfully, no matter how harsh the answer is?" you questioned.
"I think I've been sincere enough till this moment for you to question that.â This time, the irritation transpired on his tone. âNow, if you are going to ask me again why I made you, we can get you a new mentor straight away. I said all I had to say on that matter," he added adamantly. âIf youâre only my mentor you have a very questionable way to show itâŚâ you thought, surprising yourself. His eyes lingered on your face, studying you for a second before you spoke.
"Ok. Understood," you said, giving up temporarily. He seemed to relax a bit but it was difficult to tell from his stiff position on the chair. "I have another petition though." he simply nodded. "Can you promise not to use your influence on me?" There he left the chopsticks over the table and turned his upper body to face you, tangling his fingers together on top of the dark wooden surface.
"No. I can't promise that when I'm the only thing that can stop you from killing someone and putting all I care about at risk." he replied calmly. Although he seemed to be expecting an objection, you couldn't, fearing that possibility too. The killing part, at least. "Especially since you've not changed fully yet." your eyes widened. "But, I can promise you, I will only use it when it's strictly necessaryâ"
"You said I'm not done" you breathed out. If you wouldn't have known better, you would have hyperventilated but you kept it together, trying not to think about the pain.
"No, you're not. You're just poking your little baby fangs right now. Your system is still processing the change. Your brain has to adjust. This is not an overnight thing, you were born one way and the bane I placed on you is causing everything in you to change. That requires, at least, some time and, not going to lie, pain too. You'll keep trying to do everything as if you were a human but you're not, and your body won't respond equally. Your bones, nerves, tendons, any internal tissue really, is being upgraded." He made a pause for you to process what he was saying. "The change works fast on the surface, with its own symptoms, like you begin to act as the new thing youâre becoming but internally, as I said, takes time. How long?â He read the question written on your face. âIt'll depend on how much energy your cells can take from what you consume. So you'll have to drink plenty of blood if you want it to be quick and get it over with," he explained. His words made you look at your hands and nails, then touch your retracted fangs, assimilating. The elastic skin in your gums that allowed the fangs to move in and out without allowing anything else to enter, feeling slightly different than the rest. Upper, the length of the fang could be felt through and you were astonished. "Try to not press them down with your fingers. It can cause tendinitis and it will hurt like hell. You heal fast, yes, but your fangs won't retract then, so it'll be very uncomfortable and difficult to hide what you are for a while." you had left your mouth alone with the first sentence but at that point, you felt like not touching them again.
"Then I won't," you muttered. "I have another questionâŚâ
âWhat do you wish for?â he wondered.
âMaybe itâs weird, I donât know,â you said but he only waited for you to speak. âAbout the blood⌠Does it all taste the same?" that made Jungkook stop eating and look at you. "I mean, I get the kind of oxide taste it's the same because I've licked a wound before but your bloodâŚ" you involuntarily touched your lips with the tip of your fingers, your sight getting lost nowhere as you remembered. "The taste of your blood⌠It had this undertoneâ Not that I would know what mine was since I wasnâtâWhat I am now... But it changed its flavor while I was drinkingââ your fingers slid down over to your throat. âIt had this kind ofâ Likeâ Like when you lick a melting vanilla ice cream in summer. Only your blood was warmâ but that slide on my tongue was there, like a creamy, mild, and sweet sensation. And I was wonderingâ"
Jungkook cleared his throat. "If you'll excuse me," he said with a tense tone. Then he stood, left his dishes on the washing machine, and walked out of the room as you followed him with your eyes. He never met yours.
âDid I say something?â When you tilted your head back to Taehyung for answers, his eyes were set on you. Dark lust stained the blue of them and there was a sort of energy flood between you. âAre you usingâWhat did I do?â you wondered in confusion.
âNoâŚâ he said with a fanged smirk. âWhat you feel, itâs just us. Chemistry.â Suddenly, you felt a need to stand and go to him but it stopped immediately. âThat was.â
âWowâŚâ you whispered and swallowed instinctively. âSo, I said something,â you confirmed.
âYou did.â His way of lengthening the moment made your skin crawl and your fangs show.
âCan youâ break it to me?â you asked as your breath hitched involuntarily. He chuckled in response and wore them down, eyes slowly fading from the ice blue to their natural dark tone.
âOk.... The way you spoke it was erotic...â Your eyes widened.
âSo I basically turned you on,â you confirmed with a cocky smile.
âMeâ and Jungkook.â your eyes bulged at his admission and your smile wore off immediately, and so did your fangs. âYouâll learn to see those things easily now if you couldn't before. But to âbreak it to youâ, you could walk naked in front of any male vampire and most of us would just ignore it. Not me, I wouldnât be able to. Wouldnât try either.â he admitted shamelessly and you couldnât avoid the the warmth focusing in your cheeks. âBut when it comes to blood, we really canât ignore it. Itâs our food, our energy source, and for some reason weâ Well, get off on it.â you blushed harder, the naive way in which you had said those words and the way they meant to sin, making you feel sloppy all of a sudden.
âNo joking with blood then,â you finally concluded, your eyes diverting to his throat, invited by the conversation.
âNo, no joking, â he stated slowly and lowered an octave. He was smirking and began to bite his bottom lip seductively. You swallowed again, your lips parted for a shallow breath, and your heart rate accelerated as a response. âWe donât talk about it openly as we would do with most subjects, the feeding, I mean. Itâs kind of personal and since it used to imply murder, it still stays as a very delicate matter. You know, we used to think that the more we spoke about it, the more unsensible to it we could become, and then it could turn into a greedy actâ Itâs probably the taboo itself that's turned it into something soâ Alluring. But I wonât shame you for speaking. Just keep those thoughts for me, hm? Knowing the effectâŚâ The way his words were flowing through his tongue felt like a caress on your body. He smirked again.
âHow are you doing that?â you wondered.
He blinked in bafflement and seemed almost innocent. Suddenly, he chuckled to himself as he looked away to clear his throat. âSorry, I got lost in the moment,â he admitted. âIâll teach you all those little tricks when we are done with the basics.â
âThis is so interesting.â Carving with his eyes in yours, he nodded for you to proceed. âSo, blood does or does not taste the same?â
âNo, it doesnât but this, Iâm sure you can figure it out,â he explained but you only stared at him clueless. âOkay, let me put it this way. Wagyu beef is the best in the world, right? Why is that?â he rhetorically asked. âBecause those cattles are well fed and taken care of, like royalty cows. So their meat is more marbled. If you extrapolate that to humans, not that Iâm saying they are livestock, we can say that the most healthy ones, the ones that take good care of themselves, the happiest are the ones that taste better. Popular opinion, of course. The hormones in the blood are what determines the taste. Thatâs why our ability to charm and attract a person is given to us. You can create a sort of illusion of happiness, and get them high on you. Besides its main purpose which was for them not to scream and alert their group.â You were about to interrupt him. âTheory first, be patient," he concluded.
âIâm intrigued. Would then a scared person taste bad or not as good? What happens if a person is ill?â you wondered.
âItâs not that it tastes bad but it tastes bitter. I personally prefer the honeyed sweetness that comes with seduction or arousing a person. It's similar to us, we also have hormones traveling our bloodstream and it can change its taste. What you described as melting vanilla ice cream, was that one I have a preference for...â he confessed and you nibbled at your lower lip, thinking about his blood again and understanding now what you tasted was his want for you. He gleamed. âBut thatâs like a preference. Some vampires like to scare their victims before getting a nibble. Never in a way that produces suffering or any pain or to humiliate the subject though. Just in a way, they can get that taste in the blood. Hunting without using attraction, as it is, does it for them. As I told you, we are not cruel, maybe mischievous but not in a bad way. â he spoke. âYou're not eating, love, the food is getting coldââ he suddenly cut off the conversation and used his chopsticks on a beef-stuffed dumpling to feed you. It tasted heavenly. Your eyes closed as you slowly chewed. You could tell apart flavors and textures in a way you had never done before. âSince you are still changing and getting used to your senses, they might be temporarily inconsistent. Your body is smart, but you can still get overwhelmed and blocked so take it easy on yourself," he recommended. "I bet the taste is more overpowering than what you are used to.â You opened your eyes to see him holding his head on his knuckles with his elbow over the table, looking at you with amusement. "Now youâre given a whole range of possibilities that were numb to you as a human, probably fated to always stay like that.â He paused to open the Chardonnay that stood in a bucket next to the table. He served both your glasses and one for Jungkook. You instinctively looked at the door. âHeâll be back. Itâs not like heâs doing anything with what you said,â he said nonchalantly but you flustered at how heâd blurp it without a care in the world. âIt was picturesque but not enough to work with,â he insinuated, making you wheeze, then giving up to a nervous laughter. âAre you scandalized? I didnât say anything,â he smirked.
âNot directly,â you giggled with sarcasm and then he laughed too, and displayed his boxy smile. âSo, what about the sick?â you asked after he fed you again. He exhaled a long contemplation before he spoke.
âYouâll kill them.â Your eyes went wide and your lips parted. âYou do understand our purpose of existence, right? Since youâre a child of The Guardians, you must know a lot more about us than the general population. I know thereâs a programââ You opened your mouth to question how he knew who you were. âI'll get to that in another moment, it's irrelevant right now,â he replied, seemingly guessing what you were about to ask, surprising you, and waiting for your objection to his knowledge. "So, Iâm sure theyâve taught you that our existence is a sort of plague control. Of course, with some adding that we are not to befriend. The first is a fact. Everyone has that in mind. The second," he scoffed. "Well, it's because they canât guess how we work as a whole and fear how difficult it is to stop us if we choose to attack. How we might choose who lives and who dies." He makes a small pause and takes a sip of the bubbly drink, although you can feel he's not done talking. "Attacking an ill person makes sense as a natural equilibrium kind of thing and since your kin has fought very hard to make deadly diseases less deadly, we would be the biggest natural threat to that balance. For those killings, if done, the flavor is completely irrelevant. You are inclined because it's easy, not appealing,â he explained then took a sip and fed you again. âWhen we drink we can drink until we are full or not. Thereâs always a choice. If you drink as much as possible to satiate your thirst, you will kill the person, even if itâs healthy. Youâll need at least three liters per day. One and a half liters per feed means two feedings a day. The amount you take depends on your own thirst but anything further than that is a great loss of blood for one victim alone, and if it doesnât receive treatment straight away or eventually, the person will die.â You couldn't fathom the severity of feeding and its true consequences. It seemed as though there was a dangerous, very thin line between life and death. To someone new like you, it seemed impossible to achieve the right measure while succumbing to the need for blood. âIf you choose a weak or ill person, youâll just kill it. Even if you donât get to those amounts, youâll cause that person a loss of blood that needs to heal from whatever it has. So, itâll get worse and worse until it dies.â he explained. "Naturally, animals won't choose an ill victim, just weaker ones, but human illnesses do not affect us. The most you can get from drinking a virally infected person's blood is a sort of cold. Basically, your blood fights whatever disease that blood may have, but it's so fast it might last only an hour or two up to twelve. Not much more than that. HPV, HIV, cold, flu, or sorts won't affect us because; either our body is immune or has weapons to fight it. All of itâs scientifically proven, of course. Funny little experiments as simple as using a sample of blood from any of us and trying to infect it. You could watch it like a match on your TV but you always know who wins. Hell, we can't even get anthrax, for that matter." You were astonished with how mundane it seemed to him.
âWowâ I feel like I should thank you nowâ Thank you!" you expressed despite the lack of ability to convey better words to say. He only smiled and shook his head, resting his back on the seat in a less rigid position. He smiled at the appreciation, and a comfortable silence soon followed as you exchanged a lingering glance. He brushed some of your hair away from your face and tucked it behind your ear, while his thumb gently caressed your cheek and trailed down to your chin. The longing in his eyes, as they dipped from yours and down to your lips, revealed he was eager to kiss you again. However, you fought the urge and shook off the heavy exchange as the need to learn more about what you were becoming overtook, "But-- What about cancer?"
"That's the tricky part of it all. Immune system-caused cancers don't affect us, there's only a one-in-a-million chance we'll have a gene failure-produced cancer but untreated or untreatable radiation can provoke it, so we are not immune to it. As to if that would kill us? Most likely won't and we have a high rate of invasive treatment survival, so we can get it sorted that way." he explained. "We adapt easily to most circumstances. Just remember, anything that damages the brain will, most likely, kill you. So, be careful with that too. We are not Gods. Don't lose your ground because your worst enemy is your own stupidity."
"Noted⌠But I'm curious, would any of you have survived to Chernobyl or Hiroshima, intact?" you wondered.
"None of our kind was in Chornobyl, but I can tell you there were some next to Hiroshima and they are still breathing with no sizable side effects from the bomb or the residual radiation. They were treated when it happened and that was all of it," he explained and fed you again with another type of dumpling. "But they never moved on from the things they saw. The destructionâ You can imagine," he interrupted himself when you looked concerned.
The silent reigned after that but the way he seemed to drift in deep thought made you wonder if he had just concealed him being one of the affected. You wondered how many things he would have seen and if he had been by any means accountable for the Shadow Nights. That was what made you realise one fundamental fact, you didn't know a thing about him, not even his age.

There was a knock on the big, majestic double door of the living room before Jungkook entered and walked to the table to take his seat; eyes on you as he did. His brown orbs looked like two black pebbles at the center of his white doe eyes and the mint-green hair falling over his lashes, in his rebel-looking undercut, made him appear a bit more threatening than you felt he really was. Since you had the moment to take a proper look at him, without having to focus on anything else, you realized just how different Taehyung and him were but how, at the same time, you could tell they were family.
It was a thought that took place in a matter of seconds as you absorbed details a lot faster than you wouldâve as a human. You also realised you had never been close to their kin and that maybe what you identified them as had nothing to do with their bloodline but with what they were; what you also were. It made you wonder if anyone who knew you would notice the change.Â
"You may need to call off work or let someone know you're okay," he said before opening the book he had brought in before, letting you see its inside; a signal-blocking box with your smartphone in it. âSmart, but if I wanted my phone I would still have looked inside the books. I was taught things might not be what they look like,' you thought. Taehyung shifted on his seat and you sensed a sort of discomfort coming from him.Â
âSo much for this not to be a kidnapâŚâ you said sarcastically while raising your brows and both of them chuckled.
"Let's be honest, it doesnât play in our favor if someone claims you as missing. Especially when there had been so many of us in the same area the night before,â mentioned Taehyung, offering the last dumpling to Jungkook with his own chopsticks. The one opened his mouth and allowed his cousin to feed him.Â
âWait, what does that even mean?" you inquired.
"It means we went clubbing at the âNothing To See Hereâ, not far from where you work, and actuallyâwe went with Sympathisers." You nod. That's what those humans who support equality between humans and vampires are commonly called. Although you know in the base they are talked about as traitors. "Some live in that area and some others live here, in the nest, with us. It would make us the first suspects,â explained Taehyung, moving his index finger to indicate the building before taking a sip. Since the curtains were closed, you couldnât tell where you were but you could see and sense the place was old.
The interior, with tall ceilings and different level floors, was original, not an old times-inspired creation. You could tell by the temperature of the room and even the smell that the walls were thick and old. The polished and re-varnished wood around the room was hard, consistent, and for that, made it through centuries but other additions like the lightning were relatively new in comparison.Â
The walls that lead to the exterior of the building had an additional thickness added on the inside, likely, to isolate it better. The room distribution walls were from that same era. Once you realized that, you understood the structure was probably a thousand years old while some of the interior parts were likely from before the Shadow Nights and the only reason it kept its ground was because the building was never empty; always taken care of. Or maybe, like other millennial structures, it was simply generously done. Still, you were being left to wonder what the exterior looked like, or rather where you were.Â
"Itâs just normal that we try not to bring trouble to our house when the kept peaceâ it's so fragile,â he concluded, putting down his glass of champagne.Â
An exact copy of Jungkook opened the double door and walked in without the courtesy of knocking first. This time you saw the hallway, where a gigantic top-to-bottom mirror, right in front of the double door, reflected two guards posted outside; dressed in long capes and masked, all in black. âEspecially since The Guardians could track your phone if someone does report. Unfortunately, they know this place used to be a nest.â The twin cleared his throat before closing the door. There was nothing soft about him. Gel-defined, black waves cascaded to his shoulders and a fierce look opposed the one of Jungkook. If Jungkook had seemed attractive earlier, this one had a more extreme and dangerous vibe to him that made you alert. His eyes narrowed to look at you as he got near. "I get why you turned her. What's your name, princess?" he asked with sarcasm and you almost cringed at the pet name. Yet, another person who knew of you and without you knowing how or why. Suddenly, he lowered his upper body to get face to face with a glint in his eyes and invaded your personal space without remorse.Â
âJungsik,â warned Taehyung in a deep voice, eyes set on the twin.
âNo need to tell, hyung. I can smell it.â This time you blushed harder by the insinuation. âBut if I do, it meansâ The King is going to be pissedâŚâ he whispered and sniffed under your ear, between your jaw, and your throat. His warm breath unsettled you. You wondered what was so telling about your scent after you just had a proper bath. Taehyung glared at him and ran the inner side of his lower teeth with his tongue. Jungsik must've had eyes on his back and sensed Taehyung's' wrath because he backed off. âI thought you knew better than to mess with them after what happened,â he mentioned before he threw himself over the divan between the windows. Taehyung tensed up in a way that made you too. âI'm surprised she hasnât tried to kill both of youâI mean, she can still try, right?" He spoke to Taehyung as if you weren't in the room but his inquiry was ignored as Taehyung took a sip of champagne. "What are you waiting for?â Jungsik questioned you as he sat with his forearms over his knees.Â
âI beg your pardon?â you asked, bewildered by his attitude.Â
âToo soon to have Stockholm syndrome, princess. CâmonâThe shit your people doâ You had to have been training since you were a child. You've been here for more than twenty-four hours and you haven't tried to at least stab someone with a chopstick?â he presumed impertinently.
âSheâs not a recruit,â Taehyung cut him off, leaving you astonished by his certainty and unbothered demeanour. Jungkook reassuringly smiled at you as you looked around the room for answers.Â
Jungsik stood, âAre you telling meâ That they raised one of their kids to be normalâ The Guardians? Impossible! Not after what happened with Jimin'sââ he abruptly halted his sentence after a dead glare from Taehyung but he walked your way again; ignoring the constant warnings his elder was throwing at him, eyes set on you. âI donât buy it. Why would they do that?â He observed you as if you were some sort of specimen.
"It's a secret," proclaimed Taehyung before he started drinking again.
"A secret? It's stupidity, almost a crime against their own." He seemed outraged and you couldnât be more confused with what they were saying. Everything that had been spoken within those walls conflicted with what you thought you knew, but it didnât make it less likely to be true since there had always been a touch of nonsense in all the things you were told growing up. âThey think weâll take their kids in their sleep for Lilithâs sake. Itâs likeâ Do your parents hate you or something?â he wondered suddenly. The secrecy of his brother and cousin had clearly bothered him.Â
âWhat do you want from me?â you asked, involuntarily showing your fangs as you stood, enraged. He showed his and so did Taehyung and Jungkook, also standing.Â
âYou donât scare easily, do you?â Jungsik smirked as he ambled. âAnd you tell me sheâs not a recruitââ He speed-moved to your back, clutching one hand over your biceps and the other under your sternum. His hand slid down to your abdomen then down to your thigh as he felt up your muscles. âSheâs fit and strong but that doesnât come with the turning.â You felt his breath on your neck as he spoke and, in what felt like a blink of an eye, Taehyung pinned him to the table by pressing his face against it with one hand while twisting Jungsikâs violating hand on his back.
âSheâs a vampire now and sheâs my protegĂŠ,â he claimed. âYouâll treat her with the respect we give to our kind because she is not like the humans you like so much to toy with. Understood?â His tone was low and authoritarian.Â
âDamnââ hissed Jungsik as Taehyung kept his hard grip, wearing down his fangs and those blue eyes. âIâm sorry, hyung,â he surrendered with grunts. Taehyung freed him and approached you to comfort you. A slide of possessiveness came out of him when he embraced you. âI exceeded my limits, I'm really sorry,â Jungsik told the both of you, suddenly looking harmless. âI felt challenged with her attitudeâ You really got one, young lady,â he clarified. "But damn it, hyungâ Couldnât you choose someoneâ less likely to bring death, or turn against us?â he wondered while looking at Taehyung.
"I'm still here, you know? But whatâs the point of me turning against you?â you grilled. âMy family fears youâ usâ thatâs why they train, thatâs why they are protectors. And I'm betting you're smart enough to know this means I can't go back to them. I'm like you nowâ a threat. They would kick my ass to the curb. Whatâ If they don't just kill me," you spoke calmly to make a point. "I really don't have a motive and I really donât want to go around not knowing what Iâm capable of and possibly hurting people. So, I wonât leave to be on my own either, at least not for now." His misjudgments angered you more than you could rationalise and your fangs poked out again. You hated the lack of control you had over them and you felt your skin set on end as if electricity was running over it through the little hairs. "I don't hate your kind, never have. I used to fear you but the situation has changed," you rolled your eyes, breath slightly accelerated. "Obviously!" Then you noticed the cold stares of the men and the state of alert in all of them.Â
Taehyung's fangs reappeared as he spoke and you felt lightheaded, "Please, sit down." he ordered calmly and, as if you had been pulled physically back to the chair, you obeyed. "You need to breathe this out. Anger is not a safe feeling right now,â he recommended. With your eyes set on him, you synchronised your breathing to match his as the built-up rage flowed out of your veins. âNow, we all know The Guardians is an euphemism for what, until a century ago, were vampire hunters. So, I'm very well aware that they would kill us all in this nest with you as an excuse, and you too right after, if this is not properly handled.â Jungkook and Jungsik looked bemused, freshly aware of the gravity of the situation. This time, the blood drained from your face. Things made even less sense now. "So, you don't need to sanctify them anymore."Â
You stood, feeling on the verge of a headache and rubbing your temples. "This makes no sense. My parents taught me our families, mine, the kids I grew up withâ my friendsâ were there to protect our kind because yours was likely to break The Oath. In the shadows, in a way, we could never identify and apply the law. That if we were to hurt one of you in retaliation you would exterminate us all in our sleepâ Like what happened in the Shadow Nights but worse," you explained.Â
"Well, that's a bunch of bullshit and fairy tales for kids!" said Jungsik. "One of us was killed by one of them three days ago as an initiation deed. We could show you her body, her family is still mourning her. Do you see us filling the streets with blood and death as retaliation?" he added, annoyed.
"I didn't knowâ" Then you remembered your sister's and your best friend's attitude toward the idea of finding a vampire and killing it, the pride they had, but you never knew if they ever did, or succeeded. It all made sense with what they were saying, but The Guardians were your family. Why would they have lied to you?
There had been no reports of anyone being bitten for at least two centuries. If vampires were the savage ones, they couldâve been sloppy and made a mistake. The Guardians were always first to receive information from the police when something suspicious happened. Your uncles were often called to investigate crime scenes. It was always your own kind who killed and slaughtered, who raped and used violence against one another. They didn't need to lie. On the other hand, your friend's parents only seemed to be increasing the fear in their kids. In your case, it was your family, especially your sister. The misinformation and the silence became a suspicion and then an obscene imagination. "I'm sure it wasn't anyone I know. I think they truly believe you could end us. Them," you lied to them, or to yourself; you werenât sure.
"Well, the thing is it happened and it's not the first time." Taehyung clarified. "But we don't make moves against your people because our President believes there's redemption. At the end of the day, it was him along with our King and one of your representatives who signed The Oath two centuries ago. The peace was granted and we all were living happily ever after until an incident happened some decades ago," Taehyung seemed pained, on the verge of tears, and he finished a whole glass in one go. The twins looked sombre and were quiet in their places. You didn't need to ask to know it had to do with someone close.
"There's no need for us to be digging in the darkest parts of our history when you have just begun your journey." Jungkook interrupted gently.Â
You let your hands over the table, feeling the surface. Somehow you could tell it had been polished not so long ago, the surface had been perfectly cleaned before applying the varnish but even dried and long done, you still scented it partially fresh. It fascinated you momentarily to get, once more, so many layers of details as if being able to pick time apart.Â
"He's right. Please, do whatever you need to do to make sure no one looks for you," Taehyung said as he cleaned his mouth with a napkin like a dandy at a soiree and stood to leave, pecking you in the cheek as he moved. Jungkook followed him quietly, giving you a nod.
"I'm staying," said Jungsik and his words didn't seem to surprise Taehyung, who looked at you inquisitively.
"Nothing to hide," you replied, picking up your phone. With a nod they both left through the double door. When you placed your print on the phone, you saw an open chat with Hoseok. "Shit." Someone had been texting him for you.Â

Someone imitated your way of speaking perfectly and it creeped you out.

The person, who had been answering on your behalf, seemed to have also managed chat information, or had knowledge about your life and the people in it as well.Â

There were other messages replied too but they were of minor importance and cold, like you could be when you were busy. You stood and paced the room under the attentive watch of Jungsik, trying to find an excuse for your family and work. Then he did something unsettling again. He walked to the kitchen fridge and took out a blood bag and, just like that, opening the lid, he started to drink from it. You smelled the blood when he took a breath from the gulping, despite him being almost nine feet away.Â
Something grew feral in you and the little hairs on your body set on end. He smirked with those rose, perfectly shaped lips and you almost grunted.Â
"Come." he gestured with two fingers and you ambled carefully. However, when you were a couple steps from him, he reached behind you and put the bag right in front of your lips. You tried to push him away, consciously fighting the urge to drink the blood but also his closeness with the will to run away. "Cold might not be your cup of tea, but trust me that you need it and you'll most definitely like it." You looked at the door. "He's not there and I'm just doing what should be done." When he shook the bag again, spurring the smell to your nostrils, you gave in and drank the thick and sticky liquid. "How does it feel?" he wondered, trying to move the bag. You complained with what sounded almost like a growl, surprising yourself and pulling away. "You really were thirsty," he stated, showing the almost empty bag.
"I'm sorry." you apologised, not knowing the gravity of what you'd done.
"It's okay, there's more and I actually love it when someone gives in to the thirst. It gives me a tinâ" He tried to explain with a look in his eyes you couldn't quite read but got interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Taehyung, are you there?" a soft male voice wondered.Â
"Shitshitshitshit," whispered Jungsik while he freaked out on the spot. He looked like his brain was working a mile per second, body vibrating with tension, but then he took you in his arms and ran to the bathroom. "Stay quiet. Youâre not here, ok?" he ordered with a slight huskiness in his tone and you nodded before he closed the door. Automatically, you focused on listening, since you couldn't see in the pitch-dark room. He seemed to run and get back to the kitchen then you heard the lit of a bin and a door opening.
"Jimin, what brings you here?" he muttered.
"Aren't you going to let me in?" you heard the soft voice again. His tone, however, was slightly authoritative.
"I'm sorry, please come in." you heard Jungsik say before the sound of heeled boots trudged against the wooden floor.
"Did Taehyung have a woman over? It smells like that sweet soap he hasâ" The stranger wondered.
"I don't really know. I've been here for less than half an hour." Jungsik replied. "Why?"
Jimin sighed loudly before speaking. "I asked him to do something for me last night but I haven't heard from him since. So, I was wondering what he was up toâ" he sounded suspicious as if he'd caught on to something else. 'Is it him who they were so worried about? He soundsâ so sweet.' His voice made you want to introduce yourself but when you noticed the predatory tone that was perfectly concealed in his voice as he kept on talking, you chose to remain hidden.

You were sitting on the bathtub's rug, completely unaware of the soft fabric under your fingers and palms, nor the slight moist it still held from the bath you took hours prior. The presence in the living room had your whole attention and you hadn't moved, full attention focused on the intention to listen.
The intruder, Jimin, didnât seem to wanna leave any time soon, taking a seat on the divan. He cleared his throat and you heard Jungsik move to the table with slow steps that barely weighed over the floor. You heard another bottle of champagne open with a pop and the bubbly liquid pour in a glass. Jungsik moved again and handed it to Jimin, who seemed to have multiple rings on, by the clinking sound of metal against glass you captured when he leaned forward to grab it. For some reason, Jimin chuckled in what you identified as a smirk. The air coming out of his throat like that, set your hairs on end, in an emotion you were unable to identify.Â
âSo, you think Tae might take much to come back?â he made a slight pause when Jungsik sat down next to him. âI really want to see him.â You didn't hear anything else being said, whatever response Jungsik gave, was non-verbal. Trying to make an effort to grasp on what was going on, the light coming from the doorâs keyhole, called your attention and you crawled slowly intending to spy. Just as you did, through the tiny space, you saw Jimin caressing Jungsikâs cheek. He smirked amused for a second and both of them directed their vision towards you. So sudden that you gasped. âOh!â Jimin let out. âSo, someone else is here,â he said as he stood gracefully, like in slow motion, the fine white clothing only adding to the miracle of his image. However, your reaction was to panic and you moved away from the door, breathing erratically although you intended to contain yourself. The way Jungsik made an effort to hide you when he seemed to despise you somehow, was a hint that Jimin discovering you was a bad thing.Â
Jungsik was fast to get in front of him, right in front of the door. âItâs just one of my girls, hyung. I let her take a bath, you knowâŚâ He spoke animatedly but you noticed, as well as Jimin, the lie lingering in every word he spoke.
âThen, why are you so nervous to show her to me? Are you possessive now? She must be specialâŚâ The peachy and toffee tone turned different in the next sentence, âGet off the door, Sik, â Jimin demanded letting the smile fade. The weight of the air changed, thick with a tension that could be cut with a knife.
âSik, get out of his way,â said Taehyung behind him, in a serious tone. You were so focused on Jimin that you missed the double door opening and his steps as he came inside the living room with Jungkook.
âBrother!â Jimin said to him and walked away from the door. You and Jungsik seemed to regain your breaths, although you hadn't realised you were holding yours. Both men hugged, patting their backs, and then you felt it before it happened; the intention, the shift in the air. Jimin separated from Taehyung and punched him in the face, making him fall to the floor. âI told you I wanted you to bring her to me, not for you to turn her into your whor-!â He couldnât finish the sentence. You had fled the bathroom, managed to push away Jungsik when he tried to stop you and were choking Jimin on the floor. Taehyung's lip had split, causing it to bleed, and like a spring you had reacted instinctively to the smell. Like a protector, a well-trained soldier.Â
âLet him go,â you heard Teahyungâs deep tone but you didnât listen. Not the way you had done before. âLet, him, go,â he insisted, and like an outer body experience your fingers separated from the delicate flesh of Jiminâs throat. Feeling his words in you, coming back to reality, out of the red vision, you had realised what you were doing. You stood and moved away, shocked to the core by the sudden impulse. His face was tainted red and his mouth opened to gasp for air, immediately regaining his colour. His eyes bulged the second after and you noticed everyone was looking at you.Â
âIt didnât work?â whispered Jungkook, without closing his mouth afterward.Â
âYou shared your blood with herâŚâ muttered Jimin, incredulous, at the same time, processing things without standing.Â
Both sentences made you confused and you looked at Taehyung for an answer. He gestured for you to approach and you did, putting your arms around his chest to give him a hug that he returned. Then you lovingly kissed his jawline and caressed it with your nose, feeling the distress wash away from your body when you realised he was fine. The way you cared for him wasn't a comrade thing, it transcended, and it puzzled you the same way you enjoyed it. You almost couldnât recognise yourself in your actions, being more instinctive than rational. You licked the remaining blood from the healing wound, choosing, giving in to what you felt, being it a whim or not. Taehyung let out a soft grunt and kissed your forehead.
âSo. Just like that, you decided you wanted her. Not consulting, not anything. You just turned her, fucked her, and gave her your blood. Just like that!â said Jimin, consternated. You still struggled to understand how they could tell all those things. Especially, for how Jimin had known about you two sleeping together before he knew you had consumed Taehyung's blood. âI deserved to have my revenge, Taehyung. I had waited so longâŚâ he said, moving to sit on the divan, defeated. âHer mother killed mine⌠I deserved to take her from them,â he said, looking at him with sharp eyes.
âWere you going to kill her!?â said both twins at the same time, horrified.Â
âHe was going to turn her and then send her after her own family,â said Taehyung. âHow did you put it, brotherâŚ? âLet nature take its own way.â But thatâs not nature, is it?â He pointed out, sarcastically. You werenât able to move, you only listened wide-eyed. âTurning her was breaking an old rule of The Oath but sending her to kill would have turned it into a useless piece of paper. And coming from the Kingâs son, it would have been treason against both species. If there was something left after the unavoidable war that would have been unchained, you would have had nothing to go back to. Just a quick beheading,â he explained. "I couldn't allow it." You moved just enough to look at him, his eyes were on Jimin who was staring back.
âI donât understandâŚâ you whispered, unable to process the information, then looked at Jimin. âWhy would my mom kill yours? What did she do?â you wondered. Jimin stood and you felt the need to run away but Taehyung held you and shushed. Eyes fixed on his brother.
âShe didnât do anything!â He almost growled, the husk on his voice contrasting with his previous sweetened tone. âYour people never think, they just act and regret later! Then there are excuses and more excuses! But what did father do against it?â Taehyung shook his head when you looked at him, telling you to stay quiet. âHe just let them go! He called it a mistake, an accident!â Jimin threw the table making a terrible noise that shook you but not the rest. âA bullet in her head wasnât a fucking accident!â You realised soon enough he was blinded by pain and not aiming for anyone particularly, just anyone who was involved, directly or not. "They have to pay!"Â
âI still donât understandâŚâ you muttered, unable to guess what had brought you to this point. Taehyung pulled you behind him and stared at Jimin from above, arching a brow when he approached angrily.
âHaven't they told you that one night a vampire took you from your crib and they killed her to protect you or some bullshit like that?â he said accusingly. âI bet that was the excuse to scare the kids out and make you fear us to death.â
âShe doesnât seem to know anything, hyung,â muttered Jungkook. You arched a brow to him.
He looked at you for a moment, as if trying to read the truth in you, but there was something else in his eyes, an acknowledgment. âIf that's the case, Iâll explain what really happened. What others were witnesses of,â he pointed out, suddenly calm. âOne night, when my mother was taking a walk with her ladies in waiting, she heard you cry," he began and you couldnât have been more confused. âMy little brother, who was around your age, had died abruptly in his sleep a few days prior and they thought some fresh air would do her well.â Jimin paced away and you saw him tearing up. In fact, all of them did. You saw tears in the twins' eyes and felt the little shake on Taehyung's body. âHe was⌠so tiny, so beautiful⌠like a little angel⌠but we lost him. He came to this world with a great future in front of him but left it before he could even sit.â A sob escaped his lips. âAn elder's death is part of life but when it comes to children⌠Itâs so difficult to bear⌠So she was brokenâŚâ he whispered and sobbed again. You recognised a human trait in his pain, not that you ever thought you were so different. âThey say she lost her mind⌠She didnât. She was just mourning her baby,â he paused. âBut, I donât know why, nobody does, when she heard you⌠They say she looked at your window and it was as if she was hearing a call. So she entered through the open window and just a few minutes later they heard a gunshot and the smell of her blood.â You felt terribly wrong and felt their pain flow through you. Without thinking you approached Jimin and took his face between your hands as his sorrow reflected in your face, dripping down your cheeks.
âIâm so sorryâŚâ you whispered as you cried. His eyes were slightly wide as he looked at you, confused.
âIt wasnât your fault⌠You were just a baby, but your mother knew what she was doing and mine wasnât going to hurt youâŚâ More tears reddened the waterline of his eyes. âShe just missed her baby⌠â he sobbed. Out of nowhere, you hugged him as he cried. âI just wanted them to hurtâŚâ It sounded like he was apologising but you couldn't expect that to be the case. Instead, you took it as a reaffirmation on what he had intended to do.
âI understand,â you muttered. He moved away from your embrace suddenly, questioning your words. âI donât blame you for wanting to use me like that.â You surprised yourself, outing something that you wouldnât have before. They seemed surprised too. âIf someone had killed my mom I would have used any means to an end⌠So, I canât judge you.â You kept your eyes on him. âBut you have no one to fight with now, my parents died in a car accident on their way to take a ferry when I was three. My mom is long gone. And though it pains me that they died and I lost a lifetime to grow with my parents, I understand.â He looked at you with sad eyes, mirroring the tears that were now falling for your own sorrow. Then you approached him and grabbed his face again. âBut if you touch my family⌠you are dead,â you whispered against his lips and calmly walked away towards Taehyung who was looking at you intensely and whipped his tears. Jimin eyed you too as you stared at your âmentorâ, also cleaning his face. You could feel his stirring but only Taehyung seemed to understand what it was.
âYou canât have her,â he warned, with a dark look. Jimin stared back and huffed air with a snarl.
âYeah, you did take measuresâŚâ he said with a low tone. âBut⌠She could change her mind⌠Sheâs not done yet and you canât bite her until she is,â he purred with a smirk. âI think Iâll stick around for a bit." The sweet smile didnât match his words.
âWhat the fuck?â you said, jaded, narrowing your eyes to Jimin. âAre you going to bite me?â you questioned Taehyung, meeting his stare, "Why?" Remembering how his fangs broke through your skin, you simply didnât want to experience it again. It wasnât as painful as you thought it would be but it was threatening and scary, having his fangs so close to many vital points. At the same time, you thought about how he enjoyed it when you did it to him and your skin raised in goosebumps to the memory of his taste.
âI canât if you donât want me to,â he pointed out and you understood what he had spoken about the blood. He explained its vinculating characteristics. âI shared my blood with you, but you didn't share yours. So, itâs like my blood is sleeping in your veins; waiting. If you choose to share yours, we will have a different connection; as equals. When we share blood, it becomes reactive and weâll be binded differently from what we have right now. I have an influence on you for that, not only for the Sire Bond, but you donât have it over me for that reason. It will make us sensible of each other's movements and thoughts as if we were one being divided into two bodies. Weâll be able to do things like synchronise, know each otherâs thoughts⌠The things coming out of the exchange are extensive. So you should think about it,â he instructed sternly.Â
âYeah, itâs like marriage for us,â explained Jungkook, approaching with a big smile. Taehyung gave him a stern look and then switched to you. âTaehyung chose you when he let you bite him but until you chose him back, itâs just like⌠No one can try to get with you by an unspoken rule but since you havenât claimed him back he is still gonna get approached and seduced,â he explained.
âI donât get it-â you said. The idea unsettled you, somehow. The matter was serious. Did it mean you had chosen to be eternally bound to him without knowing? How could he just let that happen without you knowing the consequences? It felt terribly wrong.Â
âYou're tied to him by blood but he's not to you. At the same time, what gives us the clue that you are together, straight away, is the smell. You smell like him, he doesnât smell like you. So heâs still technically single,â Jungsik said, cutting your train of thought. Then he stayed staring at you as you frowned, in a sort of disgust. But he took it as clueless and let his shoulders fall as he exhaled strongly, looking away. You understood he was thinking you were helpless.
âSmells give you an enormous range of information. Youâll have to learn to interpret it,â pointed out Taehyung, holding you closer under the attentive stare that Jimin was giving you. âRight now, youâre somewhere in the middle of everything. Youâll learn things with time but your main priority at this moment is to understand the real weight blood has in our lives.â
âHuman blood and our blood donât work the same way. When you drink our blood, itâs like the system doesnât detect it until itâs already in your blood flow and it becomes part of your own until the cells die and are substituted by newly created cells in your own body. That would take four or five months by the way,â said Jimin, calmly and you suddenly felt an enormous relief. âHuman blood is food and itâs processed in a specific way to regulate the iron consumed since an excess of it is toxic. It also clears out diseases and obviously extracts the nutrients from it.â He kept speaking as he approached, âThis means, his blood is in yours and that brings a scent to your body, so we can smell him in your own scent. Since itâs a power move thingâŚâ You frowned and he paused. âTo bite, you need permission but itâs you whoâs carrying the scent, itâs like branding for the biter instead of the bitten one. This way too, a vampire canât claim another by forcefully biting them. Leaving aside that doing so is a crime punishable by law,â he explained and you parted your lips, to question. âYou would be in your right to kill a forceful biter. No one would blame you. But we donât do that, donât worryââ He tried to lower your worries but got interrupted by the buzz of your phone, somewhere on the floor next to the thrown table. You tried to run to pick it up and hit the wall at the opposite side of the table with your shoulder because of the lack of control over your speed.
"Man! What the fuck?" you complained. Then tried to slow down and finally picked up the smartphone.
"Where are you?" sounded a demanding voice on the other side of the phone. Taehyung was fast to get close to you, looking attentively at the phone, there was something on the caller's tone that he didn't like.Â
"I'm at the Eoduun Hotel, Sir. Why?" you responded, knowing he'd probably gone to your apartment already, more irritated than you normally would by his inquisitions. You heard his roller pen over a sheet of paper and two taps.
"No wonder I can't track you. What's with you and that dead end, huh? You donât pretend to stay there overnight, do you? Tell me you didn'tâ" He considered, also irritated.
The place had been closed for over three hundred years. It had served as a hotel as its main purpose for more than two hundred and hospital campus on the after-effects of what was named The Shadow Nights, where people strangely started getting ill or worsen from all sorts of diseases from blood loss that didnât seem to have a source. Then, after two-thirds of the population of Earth died in only nine nights at a rate that didnât allow the healthy survivors to rest or think, they realised it had been vampires all along.Â
"I slept at the apartment and I think my phone is broken. Wait a second." You walked to the kitchen and peeled a Post-it of its pack on the counter, careful not to make a noise. "But yeah, I'll be spending some days here, I made a mistake with the last corpse. It was still warm when they brought it to us and I was kind of tired, so I acted a little bit distracted and a blood drop went to my eye. I need to make sure nothing infected me and that I don't pass it around," you told him.
"Or you could go to a doctor like a normal person. You could isolate yourself in your damn apartment. It's where you are supposed to live, not in a damn abandoned building," he said, severely.
"It's not abandoned when it belongs to The Guardians, but what is all this fuss about, Uncle?" you asked him. "It's not like you gave a damn when I went to live alone, who cares where I stay now?"
"That tone, young lady," he said, lowering his. You suddenly were so pissed you wanted to yell at him. "I raised you, I do care about what happens to you and what you do. You know me, child, you have to know that." His response was as if he was going to be emotional, but he switched to his sergeant major of The Guardians tone, again. "There was a report of a large vampire and allies activity last night near the morgue. I know Colonel Jung Hoseok took you home, but Aeliana went to check on you this morning and didn't find you there," he explained. "I just wanted to make sure no one followed you and something happened after you were dropped off. Now, since this has happened, you must understand my concern with you staying in that place." Sometimes he would forget you weren't in the ranks and speak to you like he was scolding a cadet, to then change to a different tone, just like he had done there. "I suggest you ask someone to drop you home and avoid going out alone again. I don't have your brother and sister getting out of duty to pick you up all the time for you to just roam around the city and get to the furthest place there is. Abandoned or not, or being The Guardians property," he concluded. You understood but since you couldn't accept the suggestion, you went rough.
"I'm not a child, Uncle. I'll make sure that everything is closed, I've got supplies and my gun. If a bloodsucker comes for me I'll slow it down and then call you." The four men gave you a bothered look but you ignored them and kept speaking. "Same goes for the poor soul I'm sure you just sent my way," you assured. They arched their brows. "I don't really care about the consequences, I'm tired of having an escort up my ass every time I go out. I NEED TO FUCKING BREATHE ALONE FOR ONCEâ"
"DO NOT SHOUT AT ME, YOUNG LADY!" He cut you off. "If this is you wanting to be alone with a guy, you can just say it straight. We had our suspicions that you and Min Yoongi were seeing each other. With something Colonel Jung Hoseok said this morning, now, it makes sense. I have good references on the Genius doctor, I won't be putting walls to your love," he said.
"That's delusional. Whoever gave you the intel⌠fire them," you busted out. "Anyways, if you care so much about me, you should have made sure I was trained like my sister and my brother. Your children. Right now, I want to be alone. So if you don't mi-" you remarked. The previous conversation with your new group made you question everything you knew.
"Where does this come from? You hate training or the idea of hurting someone and your parents didn't want you to be a Guardian, you know that. It was their last will, I'm bound to honour it," he interrupted.Â
"Signal is messing again." You tried to fake it by mushing the Post-it note in front of your phone. "Justâ I'll beâfor a few days. Tellâto feed Haru. Beâ" you hung up and looked at the men standing in the room. "The fucking audacity-" Without noticing you closed your hand harder on your phone and crashed it in pieces. "Great! Awesome!" you exclaimed, looking at the useless device in your hand. Your fangs had poked out again. The anger in you from how frustrating everything felt bursting like a ticking bomb inside of you. Suddenly the floor around you cracked, no longer than fifteen inches, but you felt all the energy in your body drop suddenly and fell on your four, dizzy; throwing up. You heard them rushing to you, Taehyung grabbed you by the waist and put his wrist against your mouth.Â
"Drink," he pronounced, kissing your head again. You didn't. You heard two sets of footsteps run away fast like the wind but couldn't open your eyes to see who. "What you just did has taken an amount of energy your body wasn't prepared or taught to release."
"There are blood bags in the fridge," you replied huskily, feeling your throat dry. Drinking from him felt intrusive now, wrong, sinful. You didn't want to.
"You need a fast spread of energy, that's coldâ This is life-threatening-" he interrupted himself. "Drink," he said with that tone that you couldn't disobey. You did as if you knew exactly where to bite, your fangs poked over the main vein on the arm at the wrist and you drank. One swallow and your heart started slowing down. Two, and you started hearing his. Three and he moaned slightly.Â
"Tell me if I have to pull her off of you," you heard Jungsik say. His tone was alarmed.
"I can control her." Four, his heart was strangely calm as he caressed your hair. "You're so gentle, Anya⌠" You heard Jungsik leave. "You're not even sucking. So gentle..." Six, a tear dropped from your left eye. There was something so meaningful in what he was doing. He was sharing his life source with you, was calm about it, and praised you for not acting on the thirst you felt. As to why you weren't, it was probably the fear that didn't allow your heart to settle. The one of how easily things could get out of hand. Seven. You stopped, pulling away and drying off the saliva from his arm to allow him to heal. A last drop slid as it began. Then you looked at him. The man staring at you was so beautiful, the idea of something harming him tortured you. A sob escaped you and you hugged him, making you both fall to the floor as you cried for everything and nothing, you couldn't place your emotions in a rational space and motive. They just were there, overwhelming and taking their way out in tear form.
You cried for what felt like an eternity while you lay there over his chest and he caressed your hair.Â
Then you heard and smelled the other vampires coming back with a third person, you were able to tell straight away it was human as if a switch of knowledge had flicked in you. There was something on the smells you recognised that wasn't on this new addition, but at the same time, there was something familiar in the scent. When they walked closer, you sat down quickly and recognized the person.
"Suga," you gasped.

đЏWould his blood be so sweet? đЏ

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It feels as if you never really met him as a child. As if those memories you have of his tender smile as you played in the swings at the park near your houses -neighbours since you could make use of memory- weren't real. As if the times he made an elephant out of pulling his arm skin in between his moles, had just been a product of your imagination. As if it was just something you once dreamed and then woke up to a much cruel reality.
.
The mirror in front of you reflected an image you never thought you would see. Your hands had stopped their work with the brush, as your eyes finally caught it for your brain to process. No longer oblivious to the artform enhancing your traits. No longer detached from the situation. No longer making you see your own face through the parts you were working on with the products, instead of the whole picture. You looked like you had travelled centuries back - to an era so different from today, you couldn't even fully grasp its perks- and you were stunning.Â
The mask you were meant to wear, hung at your left, at the edge of the triptych mirror, and you glanced at it once more, admiring its beautiful venetian style. It only covered the upper part of your demeanour, but you had painted that part too, as it's usual; matching colours with it. The gown you still had to put on, lyed flat over the bed, in that room. A guest room that appeared more like a presidential suit, if you were asked.Â
The thing was, that the place was, indeed, a hotel once but it was so long ago you wouldn't have known if not told so. The old fashioned building had survived generations in the host's family and was being used as a Manor for more than a century.Â
The whole building was taken care of thoroughly and any reforms ever made respected the main structure of the building. So you had been told by Taehyung, once you both were able to understand such things. The few times you had stayed, the building itself was the last of your interests. What it contained, however, was a subject of exploration for hours with him; hiding in the broom closets all the way up the stairs or in one of the many rooms, was your favourite game.Â
Now, you could only wonder what the cost of the room you had always wanted to stay in would have been if the business was open to the public. Victorian styled, originals, are not at the hand of just anyone in this century (not that they were before), especially with such preservation. They looked as if they were brand new, properly varnished and cleaned to keep them going. Like you had just travelled some centuries back, feeling like you were about to come across some viscount or duchess in the halls, on your way to the main hall.Â
Standing from the vanity you near the bed and undo the silk robe that hugs your body. The golden silk bodice underneath will be the perfect match for the dress in front of you. If someone is to see it.Â
Thereâs no expectations from you, or so you tell yourself. But for the gods if you havenât been tormented by him even in your dreams for the past few months. Ever since you mocked his -what you thought was a joke- comment and fake-scenario about vampires, he seems to haunt you. And for some reason, it brought back feelings you thought you left behind as you became a fully grown adult, away from him.Â
Those dreams your hormonal teenage self once had about him, the once that made you unable to look him in the eye in the morning, were back with his adult form. Then, you would wake up grunting, not wanting his ministrations to stop, feeling your skin spoiled by his touch even when your eyes were fully open. Even his scent would linger in your memory for a moment or two before reality would fall over you like an ice cube. Then you would feel lonely, realising those things would not turn into reality. He would never be yours. For your friendship's sake.Â
However, that wasn't the only theme of them, and it was the times he would walk away from you or just stay within your grasp that made you feel under his spell. Those times you couldn't touch him and he would just look at you, were more shameful than the times he did touch you.Â
Your perfectly curled hair bounced once you shook your head to brush off the idea again. The dreams, yes, they were an obvious haunt from your subconscious since he did seem offended after your comment. You couldnât quite tell it by his expression but there was a sort of shift, in his energy, that told you so. You thought maybe you had used the wrong tone, or maybe the whole sentence itself had been offensive towards his subject of enthusiasm. However your own mind decided to torment you for such a minimal instance, it was absurd to think he was, in fact, also hunting you in your awakened state. Any looks you had caught him giving you, had to be a casualty. It simply made no sense otherwise.Â
But, oh, how you wish they werenât. Completely captivated by him, against your own wishes. Itâs like heâs some sort of magnet and when he vibrates, he attracts everything around him. It really doesnât only fall on his charms or how attractive and handsome he is. Thereâs something else you canât quite grasp.Â
It is as you daydream of him again that you swear you can see his reflection through the corner of your eye. But again, when you look directly, the room remains as you last saw it. No signs of anyone else but you being there.Â
You sigh and take the dress against your chest, thoughtful. You should talk to him.
When you first saw him at the office, you almost choked.Â
You had been working for the abroad branch of the enterprise for two years and never once had you guessed he was your boss. The truth was, he was using a different name then, one that didn't relate him to his family.Â
You thought it was to make something for himself but it wasnât until some time after the party that you understood the real reason why.
.Â
It felt paranoid but you could swear he was avoiding you.Â
You had recognised his frame a few times between the attendants, yet had no way to get near him to even thank him for the invitation. As if everyone around was working in unison to keep him out of reach: a waiter passing right in front of you when you were a few steps away from him, then he disappeared; someone talking to you when you spotted him again, to lose his track once you looked at the direction he was in just seconds before. It made you grow anxious somehow. Unfinished business has never sat well with you and your being doesn't really contain patience. Wanting to get your apology through and maybe have it accepted but being unable to fulfil that duty to yourself, it's unsettling.Â
The seventh time you spotted him, he raised his flute of rosy champagne to offer a toast and officially open the night festivities since all the guests had arrived.
There was a dance, one that you had been taught until memorising, at the office. But knowing how dancers had to pass around so everyone danced with everyone. Something switched on the dance steps and you felt like you had missed a step when you were two hands away from reaching Taehyung's. Your dancing partner spined you around and sent you to another dancer you had already linked fingers with. However the room looked organised, and no one would suspect at the first view that something had been changed. Except you definitely did. Was he trying to avoid you?Â
Then the time to start the game at the maze came and you felt apprehensive as you stepped in the back gardens.Â
It was just as extensive as you remembered it, not just an illusion of the much tinier being you once were. God, how many years had passed? It definitely felt like a lifetime ago.Â
In the dark, it was made to look worse than your memory recalled. At the naked eye, one couldn't really figure out its end with the low light the stars offered outside. There was something odd, maybe years finally catching up to that one space, its view seemed ghostly, full of shadows, and somehow supernatural. Cinism trying to kill the sort of dread it inspired, drawing a snarl in your face. Your best guess was it had been done to follow whatever theme the party was inspired by. Vampires, it seemed: for how some people even dared to put on fake fangs. Still, no matter how much you told yourself that, you felt unsettled.
When the rules of the game were announced out loud by your host, although itâs harmless nature, tension settled in your stomach. You were meant to try and find two victims inside the maze and bring their blood to him.Â
âBy blood, dear guests, I mean two copies of this beautiful necklaceâŚâ he showed it in his hand letting the big ruby hang from its red silk cord next to the lampost at his side - since he was standing tall over the stone railing of the terrace-, âthat I have in my hand,â he added dramatically. âThose who find them. Can keep them.â his singsong tone, somehow, accelerated your pulse again. A bunch of 'woes' were heard in the crowd but you chuckled, cynicism again making you look unimpressed.Â
His eyes seemed to settle on you for a second before he gave further instruction and everyone started to calmly go down the stairs, to the walkways leading to the tall walled labyrinth.Â
It was then, as you let everyone walk past you, seeing him get down and put his hands over the stones forming the classy structure, that you dared to approach again. He watched everyone lead their way to the many entrances.Â
âMiss, ______!â he said before even turning a bit to see you, startling you for a second. âI hope you are enjoying the party. You look lovely in that dress.â You could master a bow, lacking words to express yourself now that you were finally in his presence. âWonât you join the competition? Is it the price not alluring enough?â he said and you could swear there was a felt offence in his words.Â
âNo⌠I mean-Yes. Yes, the prize is more than interesting to go for but I was hoping to apologise for my words the other day I-'' you stuttered, so unlike yourself in his presence that you questioned for a moment if you were not just dreaming. Even with your crush on him, you had always been able to talk to him, easily.Â
âYou donât believe in vampires. I think itâs acceptable. I donât think thereâs anything to apologise for when you expressed your own opinion, _______. You know I always appreciate your honesty, â he conceded. Yet you felt even more nervous. The sultriness in his tone felt like some sort of mocking he just let out with the most polite and single-meaning words. âNow, you must follow the crowd, or you might lose your chance!â he invites, expressing with his hand towards the stairs.Â
. Â
Thereâs no sane way to understand what happened at the party and still in your dress, you let yourself fall over the bed of your hotel. Unable to close your eyes, unable to put your mind to rest as all the memories of the night come back rushing to your brain. Still unable to understand fully what has happened. Your eyes are itchy with tears but your emotions don't seem to come to life to avoid them to fall or to make them do, all together.Â
.Â
Alone, you walked through the alleys of the maze, with an old looking lamp in your hand. The orange bulb illuminated just enough to be able to see your feet and two feet in front of you but not much more. And it was this solitude and lack of view that made you grow anxious by the second. At that point you were sure your muscles would be sore the next day, with how tense you felt yourself.Â
That, and the sudden fog that seemed to be sliding underneath the green walls that keep leading you to nowhere, made you want to step back and give up your chance of winning. Completely failing your personality again. Fog, in summer. Something felt wrong. As if someone was waiting at the next corner to give you a jumpscare. Yet when you turned slowly, ready to spook back, there was only more blackness in front of you. Â
You knew you should have come across someone by then, at least, with what you guessed had been a really long time walking through, it made sense. You could hear others talk but they seemed to be always far, as if they were moving with a kept distance. Never able to make sense of what they are saying but some seem to call each other playfully with singsong voices before they giggled. You wished you had someone with you.Â
Exasperation grew as you heard the whistle for a winner back in the terrace. It was far, you could tell, when the voices seemed to go quiet with the announcement. Then the chatter resumed. Exhausted, you took the wrong step as you turned your back to the house again, and stripped at the end of your dress, also scratching your knee. You hissed in pain and sat on the floor placing the lamp next to you in order to see the gravity of the injury.
It bled, not extremely, but you didnât have anything to tend it with. As you used the inner fabric to brush off any dust from it, as an ultimate source, you realised the utter silence. Except for the decisive steps that come your way, as the fog started surrounding you in that area too, you couldn't even hear the cheering that had been going on back in the house a second ago.Â
âI heard you hiss,â said a lady as she came closer with her own lamp, out of the corner, âoh dear, are you ok?â she asked gently, once she finally saw you on the floor.
When she leaned down, however, to look at the wound, the light of the lamp reflected weirdly against her eyes and your first reaction was to back off from her.Â
She smirked, showing those fangs some of them were wearing. You were impressed, guessed they were custom made for how well they latched to their own. They looked natural, as if they were just coming out of her gums. Then, when she took a step further, although you didn't consciously perceive anything, adrenaline had its own hold and you were running in the opposite direction, hissing slightly as soon as you were out of reach. You heard her laugh humorously and say something about the necklace. Then you realised it. Putting your fingers over your collarbones, there it was, the collar left to find. Although you never remember having put it on or someone doing so.Â
Having put some distance between you and the treasure hunter, you tried to be cautious and move with stealth. Suddenly, a hand closed over your mouth, causing a muffled shriek, and pulled you towards one of the walls before two men walked through the parallel passage. Then you realised they would have seen you at that corner.Â
When you turned your face there he was: Taehyung. His long digits still against your lips as he shushed you silently putting a finger over his lips. He used that same hand to turn off your light. It took you a long few seconds to adjust to the natural light. Then you understood. The lights were meant to blind, not to help follow the lead. When he made sure no one was around he shushed you silently again and you nodded before he freed your mouth to speak. However, the hand that he had used to disable the device, surrounded your waist, demanding how far you could get from him; keeping your back against his chest.Â
Not having been this close to him in years, you started to be aware of how warm and formed his body was. His scent filled your nostrils and sent a whole rush of sensations through your nervous system.
His breath felt warm on your neck and against your best judgement, your body responded pressing closer to him. He let out a low grunt that set your hairs on end and made your hands close over the fabric of his arms -where you grabbed for balance-. Your knees felt weak and you knew you would give in if he decided to follow the need you felt in his pants against your asscheeks. Although your first instinct was to rub it, you took the smart decision and pulled away.Â
Face to face, his eyes looked at you differently and his breath was shallow. He didnât look at you as he normally would, he looked worked up, as if he was going to jump on top of you at any second. Again, your body was on its own and responded with arousal, making you clench around nothing. He sniffed the air for a second and a low grunt escaped through his closed mouth as he closed his eyes. Shaken, you took a step back in hopes to meet a surface to take hold onto, maybe looking for something to distract you or simply a place to grasp reality. Your back met the other wall but nothing came with it.Â
He seemed to regain his composure, if only to stand tall and look at you from above, as he advanced the distance between your bodies. His forehead meets yours before he brushes his nose with yours, making you close your eyes to the tender gesture. "I still wonder when we stopped being closeâŚ" he mutters and his face moves down to sneak under your nose. His lips are soft, gentle and barely a brush before he is pressing his body impossibly close to you again; growling as he demands for you to open your lips with his. At this point, conscience be damned.Â
He makes you moan the moment his tongue explores the depths of your mouth and the way he grinds against you with a whine, pools your panties instantly. Then you feel the pain of a needle against your lower lip and gasp, making him separate from you, eyes looking at it. You feel the taste of metal instantly.Â
âI think I missed a couple of points when talking about vampires the other dayâŚâ he says, licking your blood at the end of his fang. His tone is neutral but the way he cages your body against the wall now feels suffocating. His face snaking at your side, in what you perceive as an approach to talk against your ear, making your skin crawl. âI am one.â His voice is so quiet you wouldnât have heard him if he wasnât this close.Â
This time, your answer takes a second to come out and you hear the crack in your voice; even though your rational mind is calling all of the charade 'straight up bullshit', something he'll break out of character and start laughing about. âSure. You are funny, Taehyung-aah. Are you going to bite me then?âÂ
He stays neutral as you expose your neck mockingly, against your best judgement. âYes.âÂ
He didn't even give you the time to assimilate his tone when his fangs buried in your throat at the left. The reaction to it, came to you like a mix of feelings above the pain itself. The pain somehow, unbelievably, rested as a distant sensation. Fear was what predominated. Intense and piercing through you, dense in your veins while your body tried to go on fight mode. Which you found to be useless under his grasp. So strong it only instigated a second rush of fear, fully understanding the risk to your life. But there was also a strong feeling of irrationality, when you first tried to understand the situation. Never in a million years would you have thought you would be bitten by another human. Let alone your childhood best friend.Â
The feeling of betrayal came next. Invited and allegedly safe under your old friend's protection who had become the perpetrator. Sadness, for the one hidden feeling of admiration you had for who was now attacking you. A sense of being profaned, violated, used against your will which led to the tears and a first sob.Â
By then, he had already let you go, looking at you with those eyes that shone sky blue in the darkness. Even more shinny with the tears that pooled his waterline while drying the remains of the essence of your vitality from his lips with his sleeve.Â
Then you ran. Without giving a second glance, frantic, missing the silent silhouettes lurking in the shadows that soon would appear to scare you and make you change your directions until you were out of the labyrinth.Â
Nothing mattered more than to put distance between you and him; passing the manor through a side path.Â
.Â
The train is busy at this time of the day but being between this many people, although making you feel at a chance of anonymity, doesnât allow you to fully perceive who may be watching and that just keeps you on alert. Still unable to sleep.Â
You feel somehow drowsy and things around you change speed without warning, sometimes they happen really fast and others so slow you can capture details that you would have never done before. The smells too, come at you overwhelmingly and your stomach won't stop turning. You think itâs probably the insomnia and your body finally connecting to give results for the exhaustion. ButâŚ
It feels strange.Â
Your body should be looking for another source of energy, such as food. Yet you are not exactly hungry. Just really, really thirsty.
.Â
You donât even remember how you got home. Itâs all in a blurr. Or straight up erased from your memory. One thing is clear, Taehyung hasn't followed you.Â
But he has left a message. The audacity.Â
-When you are ready, come to the Manor. Stay safe.-
Taehyung
You chuckle as you reread it, letting your body fall over the fluff of your bed. Finally safe in the open space of your studio apartment. The naked walls and the simplicity of your undeclared, temporary place, have never felt more comfortable. Then your breath falters and a low sob escapes your mouth before you cover it. Tears follow and you finally give in to your sorrow. How could he do this to you?Â
Your fingers reach for the place where you have a plaster. It doesn't hurt anymore.Â
.Â
It feels like you have slept for years. Your mouth feels cottoned but although you follow your morning routine, at 1 a.m. that it is, your water intake doesnât seem to satiate you.Â
Five days since his attack and the only thing you have been doing is squirm in pain during the day and feel like your whole body is breaking at night. Sleeping hasnât sorted anything and finally you understand you might have caught a disease from the bite.Â
You tell yourself you will go to the doctor first thing in the morning. Just a little bit of sleep until the sun comes out.Â
Your eyes remain drawing invisible lines in the ceiling.Â
.Â
You look at your kitchen counters as you sit on the floor against the oven, now warm with a veggie lasagna cooking in it. You have eaten so much in the last few hours and meet the bathroom just as many that you are straight up in shock.
At this point, you are pretty sure you are dying. Thereâs no way your body can process this way, not so fast, not healthily. Itâs impossible.Â
The oven bell rings.
.Â
You wake up under your bed. The only place that seems to bring some comfort to your pounding head as the day goes by. Photophobia sucks! If you didnât know better you would have read your conditions as a hangover.
Then, as you come out of your hiding spot, sun finally giving you reds to see through the window, you realise whatâs happening. Or has happened.Â
You decide, under the bed is where you want to live from now on. Looking at the front with bulged eyes, shutting down your thoughts in a way you have never been able to before.Â
.Â
âThank you, miss!â says the man at the other side of the counter as you walk out with your bag.
Through the streets you see nobody, your target is fixated, only one face in your vision camp and two boxes of ammo to fill his bloody body with. The train awaits.
.Â
You are surprised to find the manor apparently empty. The silence is so extreme you can hear your own inner sounds. You hate it. The whole thing.Â
Being so perceptive makes you sensitive to any changes and you can even hear the cockroaches walking underneath the floor now. It's disgusting. But extremely useful.Â
You can hear their heartbeats. Come out, come out, wherever you are⌠You aim against one of the doors with your semi-automatic handgun and shoot. All the heartbeats around you accelerate but no one makes a sound. All, except for one.Â
The one you can hear going down the main stairs calmly, without even a change of breath.Â
When his perfectly suited body appears at the turn of the stares you aim at him but he still doesn't change his neutral expression. His heart does not respond. It angers you.Â
But when you aim at his leg and try to pull the trigger, the order dies in your nervous system.Â
You fight internally for it to happen but the only thing that does is your hand and body shaking through the effort.Â
"It's useless," he points out, still neutral.Â
"What have you done to me!?" you protest, still making efforts.Â
"You can't hurt your maker, ______."
The anger now blinds you, the lack of control over your emotions is now just your day to day. It guides your soul. Pins you to states that you would have binned easily in the past. The gun meets the floor and before he can blink you are over him.Â
Your fangs bury in his throat and you swallow, clearly intended. If I can't kill you, the blood loss will. But he remains calm. He lets you. You know he could stop you. Hell if you don't. But he just stays still as you take a first swallow.Â
With it, everything in you seems to find peace and sense, as if the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place. But one single feeling remains, sadness. A grieve you have never experienced before. Aware that no matter what you do next, those two kids that were friends in the past, no longer exist.Â
Only a second swallow is bearable, or the need to cry only allows so much, and you let him go. Letting your forehead meet his shoulder you cry uncontrollable grabbing on his jacket like your life depends on it.Â
"You know now, don't you?" he questions.Â
"I do." you say pained.Â
.
Then the Shadow Nights happened and by the end you felt like there was no humanity left in you.
Broken. Frozen in time, somewhere within you; crying for your crimes
.
The water stains in red as you keep your head low under the rain shower. Your uncontrollable sobs echo against the dark grey tiles but when his hand rests on your shoulder you don't pull away.Â
"I know there's nothing I can say that will make it better⌠" he whispers but that only angered you.Â
"Then don't," you spit back and you feel his arms surround your body.Â
"I love you," he mutters against your nape.Â
"I love you too."
âAnyaâŚâ escaped Yoongi's lips in a heavy whisper, glaring at you wide-eyed, completely caught off guard.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â you questioned, trying to stand but getting dizzy. Taehyung pulled you towards him before your knees met the floor.
âWhat did you do to her!?â Yoongi yelled, aiming towards Jimin who was closer, holding him by the collar of his white suit. Jimin didnât move, his expression showed no emotion but he did raise his eyebrows slightly.
âGo ahead, hit me, if it makes you feel better. She wonât be less like us because of it--â Jimin replied with a cold tone you hadnât expected from him. Yoongi tried, he moved, darted to punch him but against what your body was putting you through, you launched and hugged him, holding him still.Â
âIâm still me,â you whispered, feeling the tears go down your cheeks. âIâm still me.â Even if everything you felt turned those words into a lie.Â
The idea of him rejecting you twisted your heart as if it was going to shred. He turned around and held you close, you felt him shaking slightly, in utter shock.Â
âJiminâssi, guys, leave the room, please,â said Taehyung in the most unreadable tone he could make use of. Jimin stared at him, about to object but then looked at you crying in Yoongiâs arms and stepped back to obey. The twins followed suit aiming a short bow at Taehyung.
âWhat have they done to you, Anya? This is horrific,â Yoongi said with a husky tone that hid his emotions, pulling from the hug and resting his hands on your shoulders. You met his eyes and started drawing his features. He had always been beautiful but you felt your attraction to him enhanced. Your eyes drifted down to his lips and you wanted to feel their softness, taste his mouth. Something under his perfume, scent, and energy changed and you felt the want turn into a need. He swallowed but he didnât look scared in the slightest. Taehyung cleared his throat. Â
âWhat--What are you doing here?â you asked again, taking a step back, seeing how you had practically absorbed Yoongiâs personal space.Â
âItâs--â Yoongi tried to speak but got interrupted by Taehyung.Â
âHe donates blood in exchange for studying our kind. Thatâs how he came across his popular vaccine and generated so much wealth from it,â he pronounced sternly. âRight doctor?â
âYeah. Thatâs it,â accepted Yoongi, trying to stay calm. You hadnât stopped staring at him and he seemed to be unable to look away as well. Underneath his musk and whipped cream-scented skin, a watery undertone suddenly appeared. It felt like a winter breeze and cold salty water as if you were on board a ship in the middle of the ocean. The way it seemed to bottom in your heart as sadness sunk in.Â
âOh Jeez⌠Suga⌠What have you gotten yourself into⌠If they find outââ you said while caressing his face. He looked startled and you sensed the possessive energy coming out of Taehyung at that moment and felt the hurry to move away from Yoongi.
âThey wonât. Heâs been working with us for the last two years.â Taehyung pointed out, calmer than you felt from him.Â
âTwo years!?â you exclaimed, separating further from him. He looked conflicted and drew a thin line with his lips. You made the mistake of glancing at his throat, his scent tingled your brain. The musk over any other smell. Your body pulsated and you pushed yourself backwards, falling to the floor on your rear as one of your fangs poked into your lower lip, drawing blood. Taehyung was quick to help you up. âYou gotta go,â you told Yoongi, meeting his eyes with an emotionless face. He stared at you in shock but also studied you since the cold blue eyes were now on you. Taehyung dried your droplet with his thumb and you heard him suck on it, like a kiss. Those tasteful lips and those long fingers. The sole image of that interaction raised your heartbeat and you felt your arousal spike. Taehyung pressed you against his body. He must have sniffed your state or sensed it somehow because you felt him starting to get hard and now it was him who smelled undertones of musk and vanilla, through his lavender and camomile-scented lotion.
You reverted back to what you felt in your teenage years; confused and overwhelmed by emotions that didnât seem to have a source and getting horny by no means and reason. You hated that time and it didnât seem like you were going to find much joy in your current circumstance either. But this time you had added pressure; sensitive to smells, connection to other's emotions, and, the ugliest one, the thirst.  Â
âThey told me to bring fresh blood,â Yoongi showed a big thermo and your stomach twisted. You started crying again, over Taehyungâs chest in desperate sobs. âWhen did you turn her? Damn it⌠This is such a mess. She canât go back like this and theyâll definitely know sheâs missing when she doesn't.â he pointed out.
âI told my uncle-- Iâd be staying at the Hotel for a few days, maybe-- Iâll manage to act normal-- by then,â you said while sobbing.Â
âCould that be possible?â wondered Yoongi. He was genuinely concerned about how the whole thing would develop. You knew him well enough to catch on the majority of his cues and tells.
âCould. But she lost it just a minute ago⌠I feel like it would be sending her to an execution.â said Taehyung, caressing your hair. You looked at him.
âWhat are you planning on doing, sir?â Yoongi wondered, looking straight at Taehyung who was now staring at you. There was something soothing in your makerâs energy that brushed away any distress. His scent had changed to a river's water and woody kind, natural and relaxed.
âYou canât go out yet, you do understand now, right?â Taehyung told you, hand still caressing your hair and you nodded. âNow you should drink,â he said and walked towards the table and put it back in place gracefully and without an effort. Then he offered you a seat and made sure you were sitting properly at the table before calling Yoongi over, who obeyed. Taehyung started cleaning up the mess on the floor before he went to the kitchen for a wine glass and placed it in front of you and left the thermo.Â
âI canât,â you pronounced. The idea of drinking blood from a glass of wine felt ridiculously excessive but the idea of drinking in front of Yoongi disgusted you to the core. If you were to succumb to the thirst and act like an animal, as you had done when drinking from the bag, you knew you could never look Yoogi in the eye again.
âDoctor, why donât you go back to work? I can take it from here,â Taehyung told him calmly, giving him almost an angelic look.
âYou guys freak me out when you act like that. Itâs worse than if you tried to scare me off.â Taehyung only replied with a boxy smile. âIâll be just outside if you need me,â Yoongi told you. He looked concerned and it made you feel bad. Nevertheless, he obliged and walked out the door. Taehyung took off the lid of the thermo and served you the blood. As soon as you caught the savoury scent, all you wanted to do was to drink without stopping.
"Enjoy. There's nothing wrong with enjoying it," he told you, putting his left hand on the upper part of the chair while offering you the glass with his other hand. You took the glass from him and sipped, immediately closing your eyes as your tastebuds got the hint of the thick liquid flowing across your tongue. It was true, there was no comparison when the blood was warm. Taehyungâs tasted like the most profound and unhinged yet classy part of nature. Like the depths of the forest and caves, like roses under the rain, like the roots of human existence, if those things would have a taste. The fridge blood prickled the sensations but now that something wild flowed through you as you swallowed slowly. You left the glass over the table and then opened your eyes to look at him. Then he served you another one and repeated the process three more times until you drank yourself full. Taehyung had joined you by your second glass but he only drank one with elegance and seemingly with a lack of thirst, as if he drank for pleasure. He must've caught your expression âIf you are well fed, youâll be less feral and less likely to attack someone too. If you get the chance, try dividing your intake into little portions during the day. It makes you feel less thirsty and youâll be more calm about it.â
âBut you saidââÂ
âTwo times a day. Yes, because thatâs the normal way but there can always be a better way,â he said, finishing his last sip.Â
When you put the glass over the table by the end of your meal, you felt strangely drowsy, as if you were drunk. You rubbed your eyes but could barely keep them open. Taehyung stood and caught you in his arms when you blindly tried to stand as well.Â
"Listen to your body. It needs rest," he walked with you through the living room, then kneeled and pulled the lid of the chamber open, putting you in it. By the time your head touched the fluffy pillow, you were already out.
You woke up some time after, to a discussion going on in the living room.Â
"I really mean it. They know me. They trust me. If she can hold herself together I can walk her through to make sure she's fine," you heard Yoongi say.
"You'd love that, wouldn't you?" murmured Jimin. There was a tone that you could have confused with jealousy if you didn't know better.Â
"You need to get off your own ass. We wouldn't be in this mess if you didn't start it with your stupid vengeance plan in the first place." Jungkook cut him off with a tone you only expected from Jungsik.Â
"Careful there, boy," warned Jimin, "I don't need to show you your place, do I?"Â
"Let him be, brother. If you worry so much about status, I suggest you start acting accordingly to yours," Interrupted Taehyung. "Look where your spoiled-child tantrum has brought us."
"It was you who turned her and--" replied Jimin, trying to defend himself.Â
"But it was your fault!" shot Yoongi, "If you hadn't had a shit-show planned to hurt The Guardians, she wouldâve just kept going with her life. Normally and happily. Nothing to hideâ" he reprimanded. Taehyung was fast to shield Yoongi from getting in front of him when Jimin moved.
"You know the way she looked at him," Jimin murmured, "There's no way you agree with thisâŚ"Â
"If this prevents The Guardians from finding out what's happened, so be it," Taehyung replied. You pushed the lid open and stood out thinking the discussion was over.Â
"We could ask her what she wants," suggested Yoongi.Â
"Sounds like a great idea but I really gotta use the restroom," you said, walking your way toward it.Â
After washing your hands and brushing your hair to look more decent, you went out again to discover a powerman meeting with the other five men sitting around the table with their suits and a dead silence settled in the room.Â
You moved closer to them, walking calmly and observing them one by one before taking a seat yourself. It was difficult to tell Yoongi apart from the vampires, or rather the vampires from humans but when they all turned to look at you, you wouldâve never been able to guess that there was only one human among them.Â
"What shall I decide, gentleman?" you wondered, the question made them look at each other.Â
"If you want to go back with Yoongi and play along to what your uncle thinks that happened," snickered Taehyung.
"Uh?" you didn't understand, "Going to the Hotel? Yeah, I can do that. Why is that an argument?"
"He meant the dating rumour," pointed out Yoongi, "I think it could distract him from any strange behaviour you might have and I could be around you to supervise whilst you figure out your next step, of course."
"Yes. You can't simply live amongst them anymore," declared Jungsik.
"This might give you some sort of closure," added Jungkook gently.Â
"Is it safe to do that?" you questioned. "My self-control is kind of questionableâŚ"Â
"As long as you keep your guard up and use your head instead of your instincts you should be fine,â explained Taehyung, as if it was the most obvious thing, âMy doubts are whether weâll have time enough to teach you that, since youâve told your uncle that you were quarantined in that hotel," he said, walking your way and caressing your face. Â
âPlus, that bastard General of your uncle is likely to send someone to check on you, right?â pointed out Jungsik. You frowned at him and he raised a brow.
"This sounds like a bad movie. A stupid plan if you ask me," Jimin pointed out. "It'll go wrong. Her place isn't there anymore, closure or not. Her place isn't with you, Min Yoongi," he spat, standing and Yoongi followed with a glare, "But I guess I don't really have a say here," Jimin shrugged.
Walking to the kitchen, taking two bags of blood out of what looked like a high-tech oven and emptying them in a jug, making your mouth water. A knock on the door interrupted his doings, "Come in."Â
Two heads poked through the cracked door when they opened it and two beautiful vampiresses entered the room.
"We wanted to say our welcomes to Taehyung," pronounced the brunette in a soft breathy tone.Â
At first sight, she seemed almost as tall as Taehyung with the slim figure that was a trademark of movie vampires in the past. Their own Underworld Selene, if it may, but with rounder features, big brown eyes with long and abundant lashes, and cooper-brown wavy long hair to her hips. To your inner amusement, you did imagine she could be the kind to get on black leather suits to hunt werewolves by the way she carried herself. But her nude clothing, inspired by Ingush's bridal dresses, made her seem more like the diplomatic kind. Also, the moment she stopped talking you realised she had an unreadable demeanour, making her more unsettling than the other vampiress resting bitch face.
The bleached blonde possessed a much darker eye colour like two profound and dark lakes that pierced you like the void, matching her sharp features. Her golden brown skin suited beautifully the soft purples of the hanbok hugging her curves and she wore her nails in a long stiletto cut, making her look like a ferocious princess. You could have sworn she acted as such with so low interaction.
"It's not a good moment, Cherry," interrupted Jungsik. She sternly met his eyes and arched a brow, making him chuckle but fold to a smirk and glance away. Jungkook, on the other hand, smiled sincerely when their eyes met and she appeared sweeter. When she moved to greet Taehyung with a hug, jealousy poisoned your veins. The blonde hadn't even moved and stared intensely at you. Cherry looked over to her companion when she noticed the lack of her presence beside her before she followed her line of vision.
"Oh JeezâŚ" she whispered and it seemed to you that her face brightened, "You got yourself a lover! You sneaky prince! No wonder you wouldn't come back..." she spoke while still observing you, seemingly forgetting about Taehyung. She hugged you, unexpectedly. "Welcome home, dove," she arranged your hair behind your ears. Her brightness earlier appeared to have vanished and replaced with a familiar sorrowfulness, "I'm sorry for what you have left to go through, " she turned to look at Taehyung again. The blonde had moved to hug him and was now kissing his cheek. Your blood boiled. "That was very cruel of you, Taehyung⌠I wouldâve never taken you--"Â
"It's none of your business," he snapped, looking at her coldly while expressionless although you could sense his discomfort. The darkness in her eyes as she stood her ground stirred fear in you. Jungkook stood fast and hugged her from behind. By the way, he kissed her neck from behind to try to calm her and how heart rate immediately started slowing down, you understood they were likely a couple. It was only then that you caught their mixed scents, having been too distracted to sniff. Jungkook and Cherry almost smelled almost the same.Â
Curious, you also whizzed on the blondeâs smell and realised hers had a fainting essence similar to Jungsik. However, Jungsik did not seem to have any of her undertones. It didnât take a genius to realise you were smelling an intercourse after-effect. Finally realising, what was so telling that the rest would know what you and Taehyung had been up to. You blushed, embarrassed.Â
"I'm Auria, pleasure to meet you," she said and you noticed Jungsik approaching. They looked serious at each other for a second until he invaded her personal space grabbing her by the waist. They smirked before kissing.
"Who would say they've been hooking up here and there for almost two hundred years, uh?" Cherry told you with a cheeky smirk, then winked at you.
"How long have you been together?" you asked her out of curiosity and trying to guess their ages.Â
"We met in 2020 when she was twenty-four and I was twenty-three but didn't start dating until fifty years later. In six days, on the 23rd of October itâll be five-hundred and fifty-two years since we first shared blood," Jungkook explained. Your eyes widened to the startlement. They did seem to share a common ground somehow and the way they appeared to predict the otherâs moves and act accordingly, made it obvious they had been really close for a long time.
"It's not a walk in the park as you may guess but with some effort, it is just as easy as any other thing," she told you. Taehyung appeared relaxed watching you speak with her.
"What took you so long to start dating?" A heavy silence fell on the room and all eyes looked at you. Jimin smirked in amusement.
"We were together during those years," answered Taehyung calmly, breaking the silence. As if spending half a century with someone wasn't a big deal, "But it's been really long since then," You looked at the way Jungkook and Cherry were with each other again. In a way, it felt as if their bodies, the cells of their beings vibrated at the same frequency. It amazed you. You perceived it very differently from Jungsik and Auria. The way Jungsik kept his hands at her hips pressing his whole body at her back. The almost imperceptible rocking motion. Their restlessness of their obvious focus on each other's movements, translated in sexual energy, was so high you felt like they would get it done right there and then, although the only thing they were doing was hugging.Â
âYou may wonder in what category, you and the prince fallâŚ" Cherry pointed towards the couple and then to you and Taehyung, "We normally share blood from both sides with the person we choose to be with and it stays mostly in a monogamous way. We donât judge love or other kinds of relationships. We live way too long to limitate ourselves to a one specific way to do things, so any other kind of relationship raises no eyebrows in our society. Unless, of course, they were harmful to one or both sides.â Taehyung came close and put an arm around your waist, kissing your head again, apparently mindful of the others in the room.Â
âIn your case, of course, itâs a weirder one. We donât have this kind of bond or relationship with our minions--I mean, thatâs what your kind is meant to be created for.â Jimin looked at Jungkook as he spoke. Something in those words had bothered him.
âWeirdly, he could choose not to take your blood and just leave it like this,â pointed out Jungsik, "This way, others will not let their possible attraction to you become a thing because, basically, you are owned." Auria slapped him in the chest and Jungsik giggled. She rolled her eyes with a smirk.
Taehyung didnât say anything but you guessed, from how he looked at you to what he'd said previously, that he was more than disposed to do so but you still couldnât put a finger on why. If what heâd done was mainly to avoid bigger damage by causing one that weighed less: Why was he so⌠loving?
You remembered getting in the cubicle with Taehyung, cuddling in silence, and at some point you fell asleep.
In the odd feeling that dreams can be, you couldn't remember how, but you were now chasing something in the middle of the night. Only the light of the moon allowed you to see in the darkness of the deep forest where you were sliding through silently. You could hear the heavy steps over the dried leaves carpeted earth that were the main telltale for who you were running after. You could also catch on your prayâs breathing. He was scared and was starting to grow tired while your heart barely changed its pace. At the same time, you felt no joy about the whole situation. Instead, the sadness and sorrow flowed over all, your tired brain letting you feel down and willing to cry.
You could smell and feel the others, also playing the same part on the hunt party. Jungsik, being the fastest, was in charge of the wrapping. Everything was going as planned and the end was near.
Finally circling the prey, Jimin grabbed the neophyte vampire who was showing its teeth and blue as he tried to escape Jimin's grip, breathing erratic and terrified.Â
"I've served you well, master. Please, please, don't do this. Please, don't kill me," begged the guy as tears of fear started dripping down his cheeks. There was a connection between you and the pleading prey, that you were unable to translate.
"There can be no exceptions." you said hoarsely, tears streaming down your face, as your heart ached for him. Just that it wasn't your voice, it was Taehyung's. You could feel the powerful build of his body, muscles, tendons, every little fiber of his body ready to move at any change in the situation. You were in Taehyungs body and mind. âEverything is going to be ok,â you added mentally. The words acting upon the vampire about to meet his end, as if he could hear you. He seemed to relax straight after.
Then you, he, pulled a knife and slid it from underneath the neophyte's chin towards his head, damaging the brain irreparably. You screamed but held into the dream, halfway in and halfway out, acknowledging the bright light coming from the ceiling. Jimin held the body, while a sob escaped Taehyung, not letting it fall but lying it down on the floor and closing his eyes with his fingers.Â
"I'll carry it." offered Jungkook teary eyed. Someone was wiping your neck with a wet cloth.
"The last one." pronounced Jungsik sobbing. Jimin hugged him and he let out a pained whine before hugging back onto his cousin.
Pain teared you from the grip of your hunting nightmare. The tears from your dream had translated to reality, a mix of what you'd seen and done, and your own body aching and trembling from a high fever and something else that couldn't be described. You could feel your guts, your organs burning. Cherry's words about more pain coming your way resonated and you understood, still panicked that all of it was part of the change. That the vampire blood was still incinerating -at lack of a better word- whatever human cells were left in you.
A heavy silence deffened your ears and the wind moving trees from the dream started taking over again for a moment. Taehyung appeared in your line of vision as you tried to look down from the ceiling but the pain was keeping your nervious sytem paralised.Â
You wanted to scream but couldn't. Again. Adding to the pain with a forming knott on your throat. He was sitting on the bed, wiping the sweat off your chest and with the corner of your eye you could see his stern expression, dedicated and careful.Â
There were too many things going on in your body for you to completely understand what was happening, too much pain to focus, and you blacked out again.Â
The next time you woke up, you were back in the cubicle. The only trace of what happened was that you were dressed in a clean, lily-white nightgown and had a soft, grey blanket on top while Taehyung hugged you in his sleep.Â
This time, you realised you weren't alone in the room. Soft breaths surrounded you, senses sharp; disturbing, being able to tell where everyone was.
Taehyung pulled you closer, still sound asleep. The sun had started hiding down the horizon, that much you could tell, but the others seemed to be sleeping peacefully with no intention to wake up to it. In no hurry to wake Taehyung up, you gently moved his arm to the side and got out to use the bathroom.Â
When you exited the bedroom, Jimin was in the kitchen, shirtless and in grey sweatpants. Your eyes unavoidably traced the muscles of his back, noticing a tattoo on his right ribs. His body was beautifully built too, sculpted. You had to give him that the second before you looked away.Â
Turning around with his chin low, his magnetic stare allured you in a flirtatious way. He smiled and then put a finger to his lips, signaling you to keep quiet. Then he served a glass of warm blood for you, from a bag taken out of the machine. You were parched but tried to walk calmly towards him before grabbing the glass and giving in to it, letting it down your throat without second thoughts or care.Â
It wasn't until you swallowed the last drop and breathed out that you realised something familiar in the blood. Your eyes went wide and you noticed Jiminâs unreadable expression.
"What do you think you'll do when you're alone with him and the thirst hits?" he asked you. You slapped him and charged at him without hesitation. He tried to contain your hits, as the anger boiling in you made you see red, but he didn't calculate how enhanced and taught you were until you grabbed his arm and his back met the main table then it cracked in half. You towered over him and launched your long nailed hand to his throat with a growl. But before you could attack further, the twins had rushed in, pinned you to the floor and Taehyung had ordered you to stay put.Â
Cherry helped Jimin to his feet and moved to grab the robe Taehyung had taken off. At that precise moment, Taehyung was calmly folding the sleeves of his pyjama top and Jimin licked his lower lip. He took your blows that had split his lip and spilled blood over the rugs. You went slightly feral and tried to escape under Jungkookâs grip but he was stronger, by far the most built one.Â
"He's mine!" you screamed. The taste of the mixed blood making tears drop down your face. Never had the taste of betrayal been so sweet.
"I told you to stay put!â growled Taehyung, showing his long fangs and his cold stare. The master command in his words hitting hard and making your muscles desist the fight against the arms pinning you. Jimin took the chance and kicked him in the stomach to get Taehyung on the floor. You saw red and surprised the twins by fighting harder; your nails digging into their arms, drawing blood.
âLet her go,â demanded Cherry. Even with that, because of the order, you werenât able to approach the fighting males. You could only watch as they both measured their strength, tears falling silently down your cheeks. Anger, frustration, sadness, all piling up inside.
"You crossed the limits!" snapped Taehyung, before blowing a punch to Jimin, which this time reached its target under his jaw.
"Me!? You crossed them first!" Jimin twisted his hand behind his back and pushed him away. "You took her from me first!" Jimin kicked him in the ribs on his left. You heard and felt the crack but Taehyung didn't hesitate to throw another punch. You could feel his determination to set things straight with Jimin, also feel the energy exuding from him, as if it was palpable. Your will to hurt Jimin, the anger towards him, also felt very material.
"You were going to hurt her!" confessed Taehyung, angrily.Â
âI thought you said you were trying to protect our kindâŚâ replied Jimin with a smirk, skirting the blow and punching him in the stomach. They werenât containing themselves but you knew they could be inflicting way more damage than they were doing. Still the situation felt wrong, as if you had to stop them. After all, the fight was because of you. Taehyung didnât reply to his brother but tried to knock him down by side-kicking him in the face, yet Jimin avoided it.Â
âStop!â you finally shouted. âStop this nonsense!â they both did, abruptly, looking at you as you cried. âI donât even get why you guys act like this. This all-â you were overwhelmed by your own feelings again, their projected energies, and the scents coming from them. Taehyung mustâve sensed it because he approached to hug you and so did Jimin. âNo. You donât get to come near me after what you did. I donât give two everloving fucks about your status,â you told Jimin in a cold tone, looking at him sideways. âYou donât just feed me my best friendâs blood and get away with it!âÂ
âAnyaâŚâ muttered Taehyung and your eyes tilted to him. âIt wasnât just Yoongiâs blood that was mixedâŚâ It didnât take a genius to guess what he meant after he had tried to beat the hell out of his brother but you still waited for the confirmation. "His was there too."
âOh my godâŚâ you covered your mouth but then finally exploded. Grabbing the nearest chair, you threw it on Jimin, who easily avoided it. It didn't break like in the movies. You had thrown it with such strength that one of the paws got stuck on the wall, turning the act of violence into almost art. It freaked you out how powerful you had become, how impossible to measure the extent of your own strength you were. It sent a shiver down your spine. The image of what couldâve happened to Jimin if it had reached him horrifying you. But as you had those thoughts, the need to take it off on the offender took over and you launched towards him again. This time, Taehyung held you by the waist. âHow dare you!?â you growled. Jimin gave a sort of puppy sad eyes as he stared at you, just for a second, before his sass displayed.Â
âWell, heâs done it too and I wanted a chance⌠Itâs very simple if you think about it,â he shrugged. Then your eyes darted to Taehyung.Â
âWhatever brotherly bullshit you two have going on, keep me out of it,â you said, walking past them towards the door, slapping Taehyung's hand when he tried to stop you. âIf you care or not, make your bloody mind about it. Youâre confusing me by saying one thing then acting another, and Iâm not staying here to play I want you- I want you not.''
As you reached for the door, the twins appeared to block you. This time the anger flowed differently than the explosive way it did before, it exuded through you, similarly to the other non-living energies in the room. It was volatile but very physical at the same time. It was like you could touch them in an atomical level.Â
Then suddenly it was like you could connect to the electricity flowing through the cables in the room with your own energy.Â
Succumbing to your curiosity you went on with the flow and the lightning in the room started to flicker. This time it wasnât tiring like breaking wood out of anger, it was light, scaryly extracorporeal, as if you were touching things with your soul, as if it could get out of control.
âAnyaâŚ?â muttered Taehyung. The twins were wide eyed. You could see your hair floating in all directions and there was a tingling sensation against your skin, making your hairs set on end too. Jimin dashed to embrace you from behind, disconnecting you, and you found yourself unable to move. He was so warm. His touch was so tender. It confused you snapping you back to a more human state.Â
âI wanna leave,â you said tearing down again.
âYou canât,â countered Taehyung. âAnd you know why.â Jimin released you as Taehyung approached and halted in front of you. âI do care. Iâm sorry if Iâve been too harsh on you. I do care,â Taehyung explained with a soft tone. âI have too. I made you. I think Iâve made my points clear,â he finished, caressing one side of your waist. You huffed and shook your head. You didn't understand.
'Why does it worry you so much that those are not romantic feelings? What did you expect? He's told you that, and you know the real reason why he turned you now. Stop. Overthinking. It. This is not a fairytale.'
âGood,â you voiced. âWhat about you, Jimin?â you asked, surprising both. âWhat is it that you want from me, huh? Why give me your blood when itâs obvious that you canât make me do anything?â you snarked, moving out of Taehyungâs grasp to get closer.Â
âYou,â Jimin confessed. âI want you,â he repeated in a breathy tone and with a seductive look that set your skin on end. He was using a charm, you could tell but you understood it worked differently with your own kind. You sensed Taehyungâs breath change, a somber energy exuding from him. You darted from Jimin to return to Taehyung. Body against body. âI had to watch you for a while before I decided to do what I wanted to do. And youâre beautiful. Just like that, since I donât hate you, I started craving you,â Jimin said, getting closer. Taehyung held a grip on your waist and you could feel him vibrate with anger. His jealousy and ownership made it crystal clear that in your bond heâd accepted the part of him that wanted you, too. Reflecting on it, it made you feel a bit objectified. You were his neophyte, his thing. Only that your natural responses were allowing his behaviour. âJust as he does.âÂ
âBack off, tiger,â you told Taehyung, tilting your head and looking at him sideways. His eyes bulged a little and he retreated slightly. âBut what makes you think you have the right to make me drink your blood, or stick to any claim for that matter?âÂ
âYou were tender with me when we first met just some hours ago. I saw a chance, I took it,â Jimin explained. âMales are like this in all species when they try to mate. You sure are aware of it.âÂ
âYou are trying to mate with me. Is that what youâre saying?â you questioned, putting space between both vampires. âYou are aware of how derogatory all of this sounds, right? Like Iâm just a bitch you guys want to get your heat off with.âÂ
âNo one is forcing you to do anything-â Jimin stated. âI didnât force you to drink that blood. The fact that you didnât even sniff it before drinking it. Coming from me, someone who wanted to turn you into a weapon against those you love, shows that youâre either stupid or simply comfortable around me. And I really think youâre smart,â he smirked. You were wide eyed and outraged. âI did not trick you. I saw an opportunity and just took a chance. I didnât even try to hide it,â Taehyung surpassed you by getting face to face with him, in a quick move.
âYou were aware she wasnât in her full senses. Sheâs a newbie and you played her, thatâs the end of it,â he proclaimed with a deep, harsh tone. You felt his desire to punch Jimin again.
âNo,â you said, surprising Taehyung, who turned slowly to you. âHeâs right. I canât believe Iâm saying this⌠but heâs right. Iâm never unaware of my surroundings. Iâve not been recruited but Iâve been taught how to take care of myself, and I had my guard down.â you explained, Taehyung tried to speak. âNo. If I wouldnât have been comfortable with him or feared something he could do, no matter how high on my own shit I am, I wouldâve still been careful. Itâs what I always do. If heâs been watching me in public places, like clubs or anywhere else where Iâm usually not comfortable, then heâd know I'm always careful⌠Now, I wasnâtâŚÂ So, heâs right,â you concluded.
âYou thought you were safe and he used it against you. This is not on you, itâs on him,â Jungkook chimed in while landing a judgemental look to Jimin, who raised a brow on him then narrowed his glare warning to which Jungkook only responded by switching his gaze to you. Â
âStill though,â you muttered. âEven if I can't guess why, I let my guard down. It's a fact,â you concluded again. Yet you walked towards Jimin and without a warning you punched him in the face, making everyone else gasp but he didn't move. "I still want to shred you into pieces, but I'll take that for now." Then you grabbed his face by the chin and his eyes bulged. "Don't you ever feed me blood from anyone I know. Never again. Or I won't rest until I'm done with you."Â
"Sounds fair," he whispered with a husky tone, leaning closer. Still you found yourself standing your ground but when he tried to kiss you, you placed your palm over his lips, keeping him away and you felt him smile against it.
"What do you think you are doing?"Â
"Trying to kiss you," he said, leaning backwards a bit, and you felt his vibrating energy like a summer day. His scent was like recently rain upon wood and cherry blossoms. Grabbing your hand, he kissed your wrist and you felt the rest of the room containing a breath. Taehyung, still behind you, was like a hurricane about to hit the shore, making you not only pull your hand away but recoil this time. You turned around to soothe him.Â
Once close to him, Taehyung looked at you with pained, angry eyes just a second enough for you to catch it, before returning to his inexpressive gaze. You unavoidably hugged him, gripping slightly on his white top and feeling the texture of his chest. The need to kiss him tickled on your lips. Unexpectedly, he leaned over, raising your chin with two fingers and went for it.
It was a breathy and shallow kiss, parted lips closing against one another while his other hand rested on your waist. Short, but it made a point. When you separated and you looked around, Jimin was fuming. Dangerous eyes set on Taehyung. Â
"Uh. I'm out," you said, walking away from both to look for the fake book at the table and retrieving your phone out of it.Â
"I thought you understood, I told you-" Taehyung started, approaching.Â
"Put me with a babysitter. I'm not up for this," you told him, moving your eyes between him and Jimin, who showcased a surprised expression.
"We'll take care of her," offered Cherry to Taehyung, then looked at Jimin while approaching and putting her hands over your shoulders meeting your eyes. "Don't worry, sweetheart, when you come back they'll behave like the gentlemen they were raised to be," she scolded without looking at any of them. Both of them seemed to energetically back off and you felt the tension in the room start to fade.
Â
"You're leaving with Min Yoongi," confirmed Jimin, huffing air and looking away with a chuckle. You could easily tell that Yoongi irritated Jimin more than Taehyung did. You just couldnât put your finger on why.Â
âYou can count on it,â you said to him, raising your eyes from the screen. You soon noticed the brotherly bond when Jimin exchanged a look with Taehyung. othing was said or gestured, but there was a sort of communication. And, Taehyung's conclusion didnât go as Jimin had wanted.
âOk. Youâll guard her,â Taehyung said to Cherry, who smiled proudly and looked at you as if sheâd been given something interesting to do. âBut youâll stay with us until past midnight,â he said to you.
Once the order was in, everyone started to scatter. Auria and Cherry went to the hallway where the bathroom was and disappeared for some time. Just as they did, Jimin went on one knee and picked a robe from one of the cubicles in the floor, where he had been resting. All the covers were still open and you were surprised you hadn't fallen inside in any moment.Â
Then Jimin, as he walked out confidently, dedicated you one last turn, showing you his bare chest and a smirk. You rolled your eyes but caught a glimpse of his body, and something twisted in you.Â
The twins waited until he had left the premises to start moving and seemed to have very different wishes. Jungsik left his and Jiminâs lid fall without care before leaving. Jungkook on the other hand was careful and made sure to not alter the silence that had befallen the room as he picked up the kitchen with an inhuman speed and left.Â
Now, only you and Taehyung remained, and you caught him staring. He seemed upset, but you couldn't tell for sure. You thought maybe, the chemistry that existed -against your best wishes- towards his brother, bothered him.Â
You moved to sit on the divan. Taehyung mimicked you but kept a distance. You disgarded the space, scooted closer, and laid your head on his shoulder. A deep breath of relief left him.Â
The girls returned shortly after. Cherry stood tall in a dress similar to the one she wore the night before. However, her hip-length hair was neatly braided and pinned back, matching the styles of a gorgeous Russian bride and a warrior Viking. Auria, on the other hand, had a delicate appearance in a green dress as if 20th century model with her thin frame and short hair in beach waves. However, her features were ruthless.Â
Just as the two came out of the hallway, Yoongi stumbled in the room with a semiautomatic gun and everyone froze.Â
He pointed it to Taehyung.Â
"Let's go, Anya." he demanded.Â
You stood to comply and he threw a bundle of clothes towards you. You grabbed it but didn't even look at it. You only kept moving his way, then shifted in front of the gun, so he had to move to relocate it towards his target but he wasn't there. You saw the girls leave through the main door at a gracious speed that made them seem like they were floating away with their long dresses.Â
You pulled the gun from Yoongi and hugged him. His smell went to your nose from his throat and hit you like a train, making your fangs poke and be awkwardly aroused. You wanted to kiss him, fuck him, and bite him; all at the same time. It didn't sit well with you. You backed off. He was shocked by that, even more so when Taehyung didn't do anything after he'd threatened him.Â
"There's no need for guns, she'll leave with you at midnight," Taehyung informed him, regaining part of his control over the situation.Â
The fact that Yoongi had come in with one of Hoseok's weapons, like a kamikaze, with the intention to rescue you, made your heart swell. But, you felt terribly guilty and feared the consequences of it all for him. Taehyung put a hand over your stomach and got closer to your body, choosing to be possessive at this exact moment. Yoongi moved and another hint of his smell hit you. You felt a stir inside your skin and tears started dripping down your eyes, as you fought the urge to pounce on him. "Cherry and Jungkook will come with you," Taehyung explained, with a contrasting calm tone. Yoongi wasn't surprised but he did startle you by keeping his eyes on him, as you kept crying. This time, it was Yoongi who's energy felt like a storm. Now, the idea of leaving didn't seem so attractive anymore. You were really scared of losing control and killing him. The thought made you shake. "Youâre not going to hurt him. Once you've assimilated what you ingested, the need to drink him up will decrease," Taehyung whispered in your ear, still holding you.
"Why don't you just let her move on her own?" inquired Yoongi, misinterpreting the whole thing. Taehyung removed his hands off you, taking all the security you felt away. Yoongi sprinted suddenly and you clashed your back against the furthest corner in the room, hands shaking as you tried to take an impossible hold on the wall. The distress and your wild energy floating around your body touched the power lines behind the walls and the lights started flickering.Â
"AnyaâŚ" said Taehyung. "Breathe," he whispered through the buzz of the electricity that you could hear. There was something distracting in it that you held onto. Then, all the lights went off. "Anya?" you felt like you were still pinned to the wall, connected, recharged on a very powerful energy.Â
Then you felt a touch, a hand settling on your cheek as full lips parted yours for a quiet kiss. Tongue snaking to touch the middle of both, inserting its taste in your mouth. The moist, breathed air and the promise of breathtaking kisses before it was gone.Â
Your knees failed and you fell on them on the floor, bringing the power back. Taehyung approached with Yoongi to assist you up. Yoongi was less tempting in regards to his blood, as your skin burned and tingled after the mysterious kiss. Taehyung exuded the musk and whipped cream scent again and his pupils were wide with desire. You realised you were aroused, again, and he had definitely caught on your scent. And, it seemed with Yoongi, who helped you to your feet, displayed the same desire.Â
You wanted them both but didn't wanna do them both. So, you rushed out and darted towards the bathroom. You climbed into the shower, cold setting, and you gasped, leaving was a good idea after all. Why did Jimin kiss you like that?Â
đЏWhy did it taste so sweet?đЏ
How much you like? Let me know your thoughts and reblog. If you dare... đ
My temperature rose with the increasing tension between them. I didn't even realize when I stopped breathing. Tae is a master of control, I would give all my blood to him without blinking an eye.
âYour body is his most beloved artwork, your blood his sweetest wine.â
You and Taehyung were busy today. Him with painting and you with cleaning the secret library.Â
Taehyung has been watching you hurry through his atelier for the past two hours. The early summer sun was shining on his back, making his flowy button-up stick to his skin. It was so terribly hot in his atelier even with the windows open.Â
There you come again, carrying a big bucket filled with dirty water through his studio. He follows you with his eyes until you disappear behind the threshold.
Just a moment later and you appear in the studio again, carrying the bucket with a concentrated look on your face.Â
âYou are taking this seriously, arenât you?â he asks you, eyes lingering on your exposed legs.Â
âOf course I am. You are just so bloody messy. I want this room to literally sparkleâ, you call over your shoulder, disappearing up the stairs just a moment later.Â
Taehyung chuckles and shakes his head. He does clean, often actually. You were just too critical.
Taehyung doesnât get to see you for the next twenty minutes. Then you are hurrying down the stairs with yet another bucket filled with dirty water.Â
He barely acknowledges you, eyes flitting up for only a second before fixating back on the canvas. He has a painting to finish, he shouldnât get distracted.Â
Back you come, shirt soaked at the front. You must have spilled water on the fabric. Taehyung looks at your torso for only a moment, strokes of his brush faltering.
âI spilled water, silly meâ, you tell him, continuing your way, âthank god it is going to be the last bucket I need.â
And with that you disappear up the stairs.
Taehyung shakes his head and blinks quickly to focus his eyes back on the canvas. He mustnât get distracted now, he has been doing so well up until now.Â
Thirty minutes later and you return, carrying the bucket and the rest of the cleaning supplies.Â
âIâm finally doneâ, you announce happily, waddling over to him, âhow is my handsome painter doing?â you ask him, lingering behind him.Â
In your new position you are able to shield the sun from his back. It is remarkably less hot now that he is in your shadow. Taehyung welcomes the change in temperature with a content sigh.
âOooh darling, that looks really good. I am loving the trees you paintedâ, you say with your eyes squinted at the half-finished painting.
âYou think so? I was in the impression that I messed up their shadingâ, he murmurs, leaning back slightly to inspect his work. He is chewing on his brush as he does.
âYou are just too self-criticalâ, you say and lean down to peck his cheek. It flusters him, judging by the rapid blinking he is doing.Â
âYou are a very talented painterâ, you say, grinning like the biggest idiot ever before kissing his cheek a second time, âan adorable one tooâ you add with a giggle.
He looks away, breathing speeding up. Well, this properly flustered him.
Vampire! art student Taehyung x reader drabble
word count: 1.1k
warnings: reader is a bit of a bitch ngl, embarrassmentÂ
It wasnât that you were completely enamored by the new student in your art history class, you just happened to take a liking to the way he looked which caused you to sketch him in your notes every now and then.
Right now, he was in front of the class presenting, which gave you the perfect opportunity to take in his beauty facing forward rather than the ethereal side profiles you've gotten in the past.
With each word coming out of his mouth came a pen stroke on your paper making it seem like you were taking notes on his presentation, but only you knew the truth.
And the truth was you were a hell of an artist because on your paper sat an exact replica of the angel like man before you, his features being perfectly crafted on the small film of paper. You were even amazed at how well you did it, and this was probably your best works yet.
"And that's why the Renaissances era was not all you made it out to be, hell it was a rough time stop glamorizing it you weirdos." He ended his presentation which earned delayed claps and a sigh from your professor whose hand was around the bridge of his nose pinching it.
"Thank you, Taehyung," Mr. Shin clasped his hands together standing, "Thank you for another one of your stellar presentation endings that make me question giving you such high marks. Anyways class is over go look at sculptures or something."
Taehyung did a curtsey, and he flashed his to die for smile before heading to his seat that was stationed right beside yours. Lucky right? Being placed right next to the God figure himself. Of course, most girls in the course envied his positioning beside you, something you couldn't control as he made the decision himself. You were flattered to say the least when he strode up and picked the spot beside you, not that many were open, but he picked you.
"How was I?" He leaned towards you as you were packing away things into your backpack, his hand awfully close to yours on the desk. This proximity made you quickly bring your hand to your bag to avoid it from fully touching you.Â
âGood.â A lie, but not completely false either. You werenât sure how it was because you werenât watching the damn thing, but what you did know was that his presentations before were the best of the class, so this one would be no exception.
âI think I was too strong with my opinion. Whatâs your opinion on the topic?â His face upturned into a small little smirk while awaiting your answer. You froze knowing you have been caught for not listening to a word he said.Â
âI agree with you.â You still played along not wanting to carry on the conversation. By now you were all packed up and holding your sketch book in hand ready to leave.
âYou agree? Gosh I thought I was the only one who thought cannibalism is a form of art that people nowadays donât understand.â
You stopped mid-step to turn and look at him with the biggest âwhat the fuckâ face, âExcuse me?â
âGotcha.â He slung his bag around his body catching up to where you stood. âYou werenât listening to a damn thing, like usual.â
âNo offence when I say this but, was anyone?â You reminded him that this was a simple art history course at your university, a required course for art majors, and no one, not a single soul would actually listen to a student's presentation willingly.Â
âTouche.â He mumbled. âBut what were you writing about then? Seemed pretty busy in that book of yours.â
His head pointed to your sketch book, and you moved it further under your arm, âSomething for a project, Itâs none of your business anyways.âÂ
You huffed moving ahead of him to try and get away as quickly as you could, you didnât mind being in his presence, actually you quite literally dreamed about this type of thing happening one day in class, you just didnât think it would be today.Â
âNext time listen to my presentation. I find them quite interesting.â His face was still smug, though of course you couldnât see it as you were already halfway out of the lecture room.
---
âIs that the project youâre working on?â A voice appeared beside you causing you to jump and slam the book against your chest.Â
âHoly shit-â
âThatâs a handsome man. Who is it?â He trained his eyes on your horror-stricken body. He had just seen your journal, specifically the drawing of him that you did during his presentation.Â
âListen I can explain-â
âNo, but seriously, is he some celebrity? By the way thatâs a fucking fantastic drawing.â He kept peeking forward trying to get another glimpse under.
âStop making fun of me. Itâs not funny,â you said grasping your bag that sat beside you in the quaint coffee shop.
You had come here to take some actual notes after youâve spent the majority of your classes drawing random shit (mostly Taehyung) and now youâve fallen behind. You had just taken a break when he stepped in, and you were refining the drawing of him. Perfect timing.Â
âYouâre so full of yourself.â You roll your eyes becoming annoyed at this act. âOh, who is that handsome man? Oh, is it some celebrity? Shove a stick up your ass.âÂ
âHey, hey!â He put his hands up in defense eyebrows furrowing. âI donât understand what youâre saying?â
Reading expressions was kind of your thing, you were really good at guessing if someone was lying or how someone was feeling by just looking at them. And Taehyung, he looked like a lost puppy that had just been kicked in the leg. His eyebrows stayed furrowed, and his head had a slight tilt to it. His bottom lip jutted out a bit as his eyes casted down in deep thought.Â
âIâll admit. It was you. Donât flatter yourself I just like drawing-â
âIt was me?â Eyebrows were no longer together and shot up in realization. âOh gosh I havenât seen myself in years. Is that really me?âÂ
âWhat? You havenât seen yourself in years?âÂ
âOh! I mean like, I donât like to look at myself or have photos taken.â His hand reached up to his neck.
But in reality, he canât have his photos taken, paintings are a bit outdated, and he doesnât show up in mirrors, so as a vampire in the 21st century he canât ever see himself.
âOk?â It came out as a question, eyes squinting a bit in confusion. âImma go-âÂ
âWait!â His hand reached out to grip your arm and your eyes traveled down to his soft grip. âCan I have it?â
âThe drawing?âÂ
His eyes shifted to your notebook back to your face with a slight blush. âYes. I donât like photos, but I like drawings. Yours is beautiful.â
Without speaking your open the book flipping through a few pages before finding the right one and with a slight flick of the wrist the page was ripped out. âHere you go.âÂ
Due to the embarrassment, you left as soon as you saw the opportunity to, leaving Taehyung alone to look at the picture of himself.Â
