Togruta Montrals are Ossicones

fight me on this~

I have thought about this before, I just happened to do extra thinking today! (I blame @sildae)

There are these two pics of their “skeletons”.

In the second one, you can clearly see the horn-like protrusions from the togruta’s cranium. For the one with Ahsoka where it looks like her montrals are jello…. I figure it was due to art style… or…

Maybe like baby giraffes, young togrutas don’t have solidified montal bones? (that’s a thing now. montal bones lol)

And then you have the adults like:

One of the things that kinda defines an ossicone is that they have skin (and hair) growing on top of them. And every togruta that’s been shown does have skin over their montrals. Their lekku, IMHO, are basically fat deposits.

So you have ossicones on top and sacs of fat dangling below. This (to me) explains the “crease” we saw a lot during TCW show.

Which is oddly absent from SWR…

I’ve pretty much hand-waved that off to “artistic style” which is whatever and fine lol.

ANYWAY~

Togruta montrals are hollow ossicones that help with passive echolocation. They have a thin layer of skin over their montrals that extend downward and form the fat deposits known as ‘lekku’. The markings on the montral and lekku were originally a form of deterrence to the akul, the main predator on their home world of Shili. The bright contrasting colors and patterns would act doubly as a form of illusion, making them appear bigger than they are, as well as a warning. (I’m big AND I taste bad)

SWTOR is being delayed till the 15th February 2022 ... On one hand I'm disappointed.

On the other hand I'm relieved.

Warframe: The New War is releasing December 15. With SWTOR original release date of the 14th it was making for an interesting dilemma of deciding what I was going to put off playing.

I now no longer have to struggle with that choice.

Brain cells? None. I played SWTOR all night.

I'm cackling right now. Theron's blasters randomly disappeared and he's just hitting enemies with his bare hands now. It's a story where there's a bunch of companions with me and everyone else has lightsabers (except my character, they have a blaster) while he's just over here punching a sith.

Playing the later SWTOR expansions and flashpoints as a non-force-user is so funny. Like at that point, your character is a super big deal and a lot of people fear/respect them. But they're also literally Just Some Guy.

I get that being a Jedi/Sith is not a requirement for being a Big Deal in-universe, but all of the other super powerful characters at the time ARE force users. And then there's my dude, who has a blaster and a death wish.

Would the masses like to see art of my SWTOR crew?

I'm going to make more drawings of my SWTOR Hunter and some of the companions but I'm unsure whether or not I'm going to post it here. It would mostly be the Alliance companions (Theron, Lana, etc.), and maybe some non-companion characters (Darth Marr my beloved).

Heta Kol what the HARAN did your people write on your banners. I don't even recognize half of these letters and the only Mando'a word I could decipher was "cuun" (our).

The Dar'manda banner says
