Backstory part 1
Season one. Episode one.
Pilot (part 1)

"Ok, so how does this one look?" The blonde asks her best friend as she did a fashion show for her in Halloween costumes.
"Jess, honey, you are beautiful. You can wear a sack to the party and still look hot." The other girl replied. "By the way what with all the last-minute shopping. Don't you usually have your dresses ready about a few million years ago?" She added as she kept munching on her fries.
"oh, don't get me started on that. I bought my dress 2 months ago and yesterday I was trying it on and Sam spilled coffee on it." Jess said making Alex let out a gasp before she started to chuckle. "It's not funny" she picked some of Alex's fries and threw them on her. "I am sorry, I'm sorry. I am just imagining the look on your face. Is he still alive?" She asked sarcastically.
"Yeah. Good for him I love him too much." She said and grabbed one more dress and stormed inside the dressing room again. "I swear to God this one is the last, even if I look like an idiot in it." she huffed out and closed the door.
"I can't believe this is your first Halloween in college and you are not coming to the party," Jessica said from the dressing room as she tried on yet another dress. They have been here for at least two hours now and still, Jess couldn't find 'a perfect dress'. Alex can admit that she was a bit irritated now but she couldn't do anything about it. Jessica was a best friend, even if she was older than her. When Jessica and Alex first met, they instantly clicked. Alex was a bit too young for college and Jessica was the only one who wasn't weird about it.
"I don't have a date. It would be weird if I show up without a date." She kept munching on fries. "I mean no one even asked me to be their date. Do I look that bad?" She wondered loudly.
"You kidding me? Have you seen yourself?" Jessica poked her head out of the dressing room. "Trust me, sweetheart, if I wasn't dating Sam I would definitely hit on you. Even though I'm straight." Jessica added making Alex laugh. "Trust me, people not asking you on a date has nothing to do with your looks." she came out wearing a small nurse costume.
"oh my god, this looks really good on you." for the first time Alex stopped eating as she gaped at her best friend. "Right? And this goes perfect with the lingerie" Jess squealed at Alex. "You bought lingerie? wow, Sam is getting really lucky tonight." Alex winked at her best friend making her blush. Even after all this time of dating, small things still make her blush. "By the way, what were you saying about guys not asking me on a date?"
"I was saying that it has nothing to do with your looks. Well, it's because they're scared of you." Jessica finally said as she changed into her normal clothes. "What!? Scared of me? Why? Do I look scary?" she asked confused as she scrunched up her nose.
"No, you don't look scary. Maybe it has to do something with you punching the varsity jock on the first day of college." Jessica said and she finally came out of that dressing room in her normal clothes and a small white dress in her arm. Alex looks behind Jessica to see a pile of costumes, her eyes widened when she saw just how many costumes she had tried on since they have been here. "hey, so I'll take this one, and do you guys have those white nurse’s hats?" She asked the woman who was assisting them and the woman nodded. "Yeah, so I'll have one of those. Thank you" she handed her the dress and then they made their way to the counter.
"it wasn't my fault. He was being a dick to me. And it was just a small punch." Alex justified herself. On the first day of college, Alex ran into Toby, who was the captain of the football team. She accidentally spilled coffee on him. She said sorry and he said 'I will only accept your apology if you go on a date with me' she simply said 'No' and walked past him but he grabbed her hand and pulled her back and started insulting her in front of the whole cafeteria. He said something about her age and how she must have slept with her old teachers to graduate from high school so early. And she was silent, she didn't say anything but as soon as his hand went to her ass she lost it. She twisted his arm and punched his face. The guy still wears caste in his hand. But soon rumors started that the new girl is a freak and she punched Toby just because he asked her out.
"Small punch? Alex, you broke the guy's nose. I am not saying he didn't deserve it or anything, but maybe that's why guys are scared to ask you out." Jessica said as she paid for her dress and hat. They made their way outside in the parking lot to Alex's car. It was a 1965 playmount Baracuda. The car was the only thing left that Alex could call hers, she loved her car more than anything. "You know what? You don't need a guy. I'm calling Sam and telling him that you are coming with us." Jess said as she dialed Sam's number. "And that way you can finally meet him officially. Dammit, Sam, pick up" she muttered the last part to herself.
"Even though I go with you guys are you sure I am allowed there, I mean I am not even 21 yet."
"Alex nobody's gonna ask for your ID. you are a college student now. take a chill pill."
"You are not backing out are you?"
"Nope, not till you agree."
"Ok fine. but I'm not wearing a dress."
*******
You stood outside the frat house where the party was held. You were dressed in skinny Black jeans and a white tank top, a brown leather jacket on top of it. You weren't the one to dress up, especially not ON Halloween. Ever since you found out about the monsters, dressing up like one of them wasn't really fun for you. But you did put on some minimal amount of makeup, just so Jess wouldn't Chew your head off for not dressing up. She said Sam and her would meet you outside the frat house but as usual, she was late.
"Alex," you turn around to see a very happy Jessica Lee Moore dressed in her small nurse dress as she ran up to you and pulled you in a bone-crushing hug. There was an inhumanly tall guy who caught up to her and was smiling at his adorable girlfriend. "You made it." she beamed at you and pulled away.
"I didn't really have a choice after you threatened me," you said making the boy chuckle and that was the first time you paid attention to him. Your eyes widened as you saw him. There were a lot of changes in him but mostly he looked the same. When you joined college you weren't sure you were ever gonna meet anyone from your old life let alone a Winchester. Well, except Bobby, he kind of adopted you. "Woah, when you said your boyfriend was Sam, you forgot to mention it was Winchester." He looked a little confused but then he remembered you
"Wait Alex, as in Alex Livingston?" He said and you could tell that he wasn't really happy about meeting you. "Wow, you grew up," he said with a soft smile as he held his hand out for you to shake. Jess was looking at you both with a confused expression.
"You guys know each other?" She asked and before you could say anything Sam answered. "Yeah, our fathers were kind of friends." You could tell he was paranoid about Jess ever finding out about his old life and to be honest you would be too if you had such a great relationship with someone.
"Ok let's go inside," Jess said as she grabbed both of your arms with each of her hands and dragged both of you inside. Sam gave you a look and nod assuring you that Jess didn't know anything about the supernatural. And he wasn't really comfortable about meeting you after so many years. Once you were all inside you could actually see why people love Halloween so much. The loud music was already making your head hurt.
"so here's to Sam and his awesome LSAT victory," Jess said as you all sat around the table with shots in your hand with a few of their friends that I barely knew. You didn't know he was so good with studies, he was always a brilliant kid but 174? That's too good even for him.
"Alright, alright, it's not that big of a deal," Sam said 'oh modest are we?' you thought.
"He acts all humble but he scored 174." You knew this because Jess told you before. That made them laugh a little.
"Is that good?" A guy asked that you forgot the name of, 'maybe it was Luis. Whatever you thought. "Scary good," Jess replied.
"See, there you go. You are a first-round draft pick. You can go to any law College you want" Luis said, at least that's what you thought his name was.
"Actually, I got an interview here. Monday." Sam replied. Wow, he was scary good. You took one more shot. "If it goes ok I got a shot at a full ride next year" and with that, you blocked his voice. He was making you feel too bad about yourself. You got to do something about your competitive behavior, that is the reason you don't have many friends.
"How does it feel to be the golden boy of your family?" You ask feeling a bit more confident after the shots. Sam gave you a look, he knew you knew about him running away, you felt like such a bitch for asking him that but what could you do, you got that foot-in-mouth disease. "They don't know," he said not taking his eyes off of you. Oh, if only looks could kill you would be dead. You always had fun teasing Sam.
"No? I would be gloating. Why not?" Luis said and you kept your mouth shut this time as you took another shot. Curious for Sam's answer, you smirked at him and he glared at you again.
"Because we are not exactly the Brady's," Sam said finally looking away from you. "I'm not exactly the Huxtable. More shots?" Luis said making you laugh. Wait, why were you laughing again, it was not even a good joke. "No," both Sam and Jess said together. "I'll come with you," you called out and went after Luis, you can't really stand being the third wheel right now.
"So Alex, tell me something about you?" Luis asked as we reached the bar. "There's nothing really interesting about me, trust me you don't wanna know," you said and asked the bartender for one more shot. It was nice being a college student, no one asked for IDs. It's not like you didn't have any fake ones.
"Aren't you too young for college? If you don't mind me asking?" He asked as he slid another shot toward you but you shook your head.
"Yeah, my teachers thought I was too smart for high school," you said making him laugh. " Just kidding. I started school earlier than most kids" you said and he nodded his head.
"I have to say, you made quite the first impression on the whole college," he said with a wink. "I'm with you, by the way, you did the right thing, he totally deserved that."
"and I'll do it again if I have to."
******
Jess offered you to stay with her and Sam tonight since you were too drunk to drive and their place was closer so you left the car at the frat house and went to their place with them. The plan was to leave tonight for the case but now you were too tired so you decided to rest the night and leave in the morning. Their couch wasn't the most comfortable but at least it was more comfortable than the motel bed. You still haven't found yourself a place to live.
Sam lent you one of his big t-shirt and Jess lent you one of her pajama shorts. You have to say his shirt was too big and too comfortable and you're sure never gonna return it.
You were trying so hard to sleep but every time you close your eyes the same images comes back to haunt you. You're pretty used to not sleeping at night because of the nightmares, especially when you are alone, which was most of the time. You suddenly heard shuffling of feet but you to brushed it off thinking it was Sam or Jess but then you saw a silhouette, he was a bit short for Sam and it was definitely not a girl. You searched for your gun but realized it was still in your car so you grabbed the next thing you could which was a vase. You slowly made your way toward him as he made his way to the kitchen.
You lift the vase over your head, ready to hit him but he was too fast, he turned around and grabbed you and pinned you to the nearest wall. You swear if you weren't drunk or hungover you could kick his ass so hard that he wouldn't be able to sit for the next week. You were about to scream but he's put his one hand on your mouth which wasn't gripping your waist and pinning you to the wall.
"Shhh, I'm not gonna hurt you, Sweetheart," he said and you bit his hand making him flinch and pull his hand back but he still didn't leave you. "Oh, I'm not your sweetheart, Sweetheart, and trust me if I wasn't so drunk right now you would be dead twice already." You spat and glared at him and then pushed him away from you. You were about to punch him but Sam already got him from behind but again the man was too fast and blocked his punch. They threw punches at each other for a while but soon he had Sam pinned to the ground.
"Woah, easy tiger," the man said. You just stood there and stared at both of them, maybe you were not in the mood of punching someone.
"Dean?" 'Wait, Dean as in Dean Winchester? When did he become so hot? ' you thought to yourself. "You scared the crap out of me," Sam said as Dean kept chuckling.
"Ya right, he attacked me and he scared the crap out of you," you said sarcastically. Both of them were panting as he looked at you. "I attacked you? You attacked me first." he defended himself.
"Yeah, well, next time you break into someone's house don't expect them to offer you butterscotch," you said and he got up with a smirk on his face
"I have to say, Sammy, your girl got spunk," he said as his eyes roam up and down your body, not even bothering to look at your face.
"that's not... whatever. What the hell are you doing here?" Sam asked.
"Looking for a beer"
"Sam?" You looked up at Jessica as she turned on the lights making both of the boys turn to her.
"Jess, hey. Dean this is my girlfriend Jessica." Sam said as Dean looked at Jess and then at you. "You having a party or something?" Dean asked with a smirk.
"Your brother Dean?" Jessica asked ignoring his comment. "I love the smurfs," Dean said referring to her t-shirt. "I have to tell you, you are completely out of my brother's league," he added walking toward her. "But seriously, You having a party or something?" He asked looking back at you or more like your chest.
"Dean, that's Alex...Livingston." Sam said and Dean's eyes widened. "Wait, our Alex?" He asked and walked closer to you and you nodded with a cold look on your face. You have to say 'he looks hot' but you kept your thoughts to yourself. "Well, you grew up," he said once again looking down at your body.
"Anyway, I got to borrow Sam here. Talk about some private family business but... It's nice meeting you." he said as he turned back to Jess.
"No...no, whatever you wanna say you can say in front of her." Sam walked back to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"Ok..umm, Dad hasn't been home in a few days." He said, making you frown. The last thing you remember about John was that he was pulling you out from a house full of vamps when you were half dead. It was the death anniversary of your mom and you were kind of on a suicide mission. He saved your life and not only once but twice, and you'll always owe him that.
"So? He's working overtime on a Miller time shift. He'll stumble back in sooner or later."
"Dad's on a hunting trip... And he hasn't been home in a few days." Dean said making Sam's eyes widen a little. John's missing? Well that's weird he was the best damn hunter you know, if anyone could go missing on a case, it definitely wasn't John.
"Jess, excuse us," Sam said and you turn to leave as well but Dean grabbed your wrist. "it's ok, you can stay," He said making you frown. "I mean if you want to." He added and left your wrist.
*******
"I mean, you can't just break in the middle of the night and expect me to hit the road with you," Sam said as you made your way downstairs. You were still wearing Sam's shirt but you changed into your jeans from last night. The boys were completely ignoring you, you weren't even sure if you are supposed to go with them or not. But if it was about John you wanted in.
"you are not hearing me, Sammy. Dad's missing. I need you to help me find him." Dean replied as you continue making your way downstairs.
"You remember the poltergeist in Amherst? Or The devil's gate in Clifton? He was missing then too" you remember those hunts, you were with him on both of them. "He is always missing and he is always fine"
"Not for this long," Dean replied as we finally reached downstairs. "Are you gonna come with me or not?"
"I'm not." 'wow, so much for being a son' you thought. You have seen John with dean and Sam while growing up, he was not a perfect father but at least he wasn't like yours. He never laid a hand on Sam or Dean, not in a bad way, and for you that was pretty much perfect.
"why not?" I finally asked.
"I swore I was done hunting. For good" Sam replied as he looked at you.
"Come on, it wasn't easy but it wasn't that bad," Dean said and turned around making his way towards the main door. Me and Sam following him. "Yeah? when I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, give me a .45." Sam said as they stopped in front of the gate. Right now you wanted to get out of this awkward family fight more than anything, it was getting too weird, even for you.
"what was he supposed to do?"
"I was nine years old, he was supposed to say don't be afraid of the dark"
"don't be afraid of the dark? Are you kidding me? Of course, you should be afraid of the dark, you know what's out there" with that you pushed past them and got outside of the gate. "Too much testosterone for one night" you mumbled under your breath. You could feel Dean's eyes on the back of your head. They continued fighting as you waited for them outside.
"Man, Dean, we were raised like warriors" you heard Sam say as they both walked out.
"so what you gonna do? You gonna live some normal apple pie life? Is that it?" Dean asked
"no, not normal. Safe" you really felt for sam to be honest. He got a great life here, a great girlfriend, a great LSAT score, why would anyone want to leave that life for hunting. "And that's why you ran away?"
"I was just going to college. It was dad who said if I was gonna go I should stay gone and that's what I'm doing."
"dad is in real trouble right now. And he's not dead already, I can feel it," he said and you felt bad for Dean too, he really needed his brother right now. "I can't do this alone."
"Yes, you can."
"yeah well, I don't want to," Dean said and Sam let out a long sigh.
"what was he hunting?" Sam asked finally giving up making a smile come across your face.
"Alex." Dean finally turned to you and the brothers stopped ignoring you. 'God, finally' you thought. "You don't have to come with us, I mean, you got your own things to do." He said but you shook your head.
"No, Dean, if this is about John then I definitely want in." You said and the boys gave you questioning looks. "He saved my life a couple of years back, twice. And I owe him that." You said making Dean smile.
"Ok then let's get this show on the road."
*******
"All right let's see. Where the hell did I put that thing?" Dean mumbled to himself as he opened the trunk of the black Impala and all three of you leaned over it. You have to say, she was still as beautiful as you last saw her. You almost loved her as much as your own baby, Almost.
"so when dad left, why didn't you go with him," Sammy asked.
"I was working my own gig. This voodoo thing down in New Orleans." Dean replied as he continued searching for whatever that he was searching for.
"Dad let you go on a hunting trip by yourself?"
"I'm 26, dude," Dean said, for a second your eyes went down to his ass but you reminded yourself there were more important things on your plate right now. "Alright, here we go." He said as he pulled out some papers from the trunk.
"So Dad was checking out this two-lane blacktop just outside Jericho, California."
"wait. Jericho?" You asked grabbing the papers from him. "I was heading there for a case. Missing folks." I said reading the article.
"Yeah, that's the one. About a month ago this guy..." He pointed at the photo on the paper while staring straight at my face, standing a bit too close to me. Sam walked around to look at the paper over my shoulder. "Yeah, they found his car but he'd vanished." I finished his sentence.
"complete MIA" Dean said still not taking his eyes off of me.
"so maybe he was kidnapped," Sam said looking at both of you simultaneously. "Yeah, well here's another one in April " he finally took his eyes off of you to hand another paper to you. "Another one on December '04, '03, '98, '92. Ten of them over the past 20 years. All men, all same 5-mile stretch of road." You said remembering the details from your case file.
"It started happening more and more, so Dad went to dig around. That was 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard from him since, which is bad enough, then I get this voice mail yesterday" Dean said taking out a phone to play the voicemail for us.
"Dean, something is starting to happen. I think it's serious. I need to try to figure out what's going on." John's voice came from the recording but the quality was very poor. "Be very careful, Dean. We are all in danger."
"you know there's EVP on that?" You said as soon as the mail ended.
"not bad, Alex. Kind of like riding a bike, isn't it?" He said and you rolled your eyes. "Alright, I slowed the message down. I ran it through goldwave, took out the hiss and this is what I got."
"I can never go home." You heard a woman on the recording. "Never go home" sam repeated as you all stepped back as Dean closed the trunk of the impala.
"you gotta drive me back to the frat house." You said and Dean looked at you with a frown. "Why?" He asked. "Got my car back there. My duffle is inside that... And my guns."
"You still drive that Cherry red beauty Bobby gifted you?" Dean asked with a smirk and you nodded. "Ok hop in." He said and you got in the back seat of the Impala giving them some privacy to talk. After a few seconds, Dean came and got inside the driver's seat.
"Where's Sam?"
"Went to pack and say goodbye to Jess. I guess." There was a minute of awkward silence as you kept staring at each other through the rearview mirror. "So, Alex, tell me, you flying solo?"
"Yeah, I've been hunting alone for 2 years now."
"and Bobby let you?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Nobody let me do anything, Dean. I do what I want. It's not like I have a family waiting for me to come back alive." You said and Dean gave you a sad smile.
"I'm sorry for your Dad, kiddo. The man was a good Hunter."
"Don't be" 'he got what he deserved' you wanted to add but decided against it. Knowing how much Dean worships his father you knew he wouldn't appreciate you talking shit about yours.

Pilot part 1
Season one. Episode one.
Pilot (part 2)

You woke up in the back seat of the Impala. You were still wearing Sam's shirt and your jeans from last night. The car was stopped in front of a gas station. You guys left last night or more like this morning for Jericho. You drove your car back to your motel room. You have to say you already missed your car. Sam was sitting on the front seat and Dean was not in the car.
"Hey, you want some breakfast?" You heard Dean said and you poked your head out from the window. "Hey, you're up." He smiled at you.
"no. Thanks" Sam said as the same time you nodded your head. "I'll have some. I'm hungry, trust me you guys don't want to face me hungry." You mumbled and turn back to Sam and he let out a chuckle.
"so how'd you pay for that stuff ? You and Dad still running credit card scams?" Sam asked checking out Dean's fake cards.
"yeah, well hunting ain't exactly a pro-ball career." Dean said as he filled the gas tank of the car. "Except, all we do is apply, it's not our fault they send us the cards." Making you laugh for the first time since last night.
"yeah, and what names did you write on application this time?"
"uh, Bert Aframian and his son, Hector. Scored two cards out of the deal." Dean said handing you a big packet of chips and you instantly opened it and started munching. "Slow down sweetheart, you gonna choke."
"would you rather it be your head instead of chips?" You asked and he felt silent "yeah then shut up." You said and continued munching.
"you really aren't a morning person are you?" Sam laughed and you ignored him.
"I swear to God, man, you gotta update your cassette tape collection." Sam said looking through Dean's Cassette tape collection.
"why?" Dean asked almost offended.
"well, for one, they're cassette tapes. And two, Black Sabbath? Motorhead? Metallica? It's the greatest hits of mullet rock." You had to agree with Sam on this. Dean got a crappy taste in music.
"house rules, Sammy, driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake hole." Dean said throwing one of the cassette back in the collection making you laugh for the second time
"you know, Sammy in a chubby 12 year old boy. It's Sam, okay?" Sam corrected his brothers 'a gift of the world ' by 'the loveless' started to play. 'huh, I really like this song. Maybe it's not that crappy after all. ' you thought to yourself.
"Sorry, I can't hear you. The music's too loud." Dean replied and pulled away from the gas stop.
"Quit flirting you two, I feel like a third wheel now." You said sarcastically.
"oh if anyone's a third wheel here, it's Sam, not you , sweetheart." Dean flirted and you glared at him through the rare view. He stopped smirking when he saw the look on my face. "Sorry" he mumbled. You let out a silent chuckle when he looked away from you. It felt nice not being alone on a hunt, having not only one but two partners. It was only better that both of them were your childhood friends, they knew you and did not judge you because of your weirdness. Last night was first night in a while that you actually slept without a nightmare. Maybe it was because you knew there was someone with you.
*******
"alright, there's no one matching dad at the hospital or morgue. So that's something, I guess." A few hours along the ride Sam decided to call all the hospitals in and around Jericho to see John was still alive.
"check it out." Dean said and you looked ahead to see a bunch of cops on the bridge. 'they must have found another car or something.' Dean stopped the car near the bridge and then turned around to face me after he grabbed his fake ID from the glove compartment.
"we'll go talk to the cops, you stay inside." He said making you frown.
"the hell I am " you exclaimed almost offended.
"Alex, Dean is right. You look too young to be a cop, you have to stay inside." Sam agreed with dean
"I'm a trainee." You said and pulled out your fake ID. "And that works?" Dean asked pointing at it. "Mostly." You shrugged. Sam exchanged a look with his brother. "Ok so you're staying inside." This time he did not wait for a reply and stepped out from the car and both of them too of and went towards the cops.
"you're staying inside" you said in a mocking voice. "The hell I am." You said and walked from the car and toward the cops where the boys were already talking to them.
"and who are you?" The deputy asked the boys when you got there. "Federal Marshalls" Dean replied holding up how ID. "You two are a little young for Marshalls aren't you?"
"thanks that's awfully kind of you." Dean let out a small fake chuckle. "And you?" The deputy pointed at me and the brothers turned around. Dean rolled his eyes and Sam was glaring at me.
"umm, I'm a trainee. I was working the case under sheriff Simmons. I thought he called you in about sending a trainee." You put on your most innocent face and it looked like the deputy actually trusted you more than he trust the brothers. "Ya, ya. He actually texted me, Mariah Larrison right?"
"yup, that's me." You handed him your ID. God bless you and your hacking talent. You weren't a pro but you could hack into a phone or two. "He told me a lot about you. I am very excited to work the case under you." You batted your eyelashes. He nodded with a smile as he looked very proud of himself. You had already planned all of these out before. Dean looked extremely irritated now and Sam looked some what impressed.
"so, you did have another one just like this correct?" Dean asked bringing everyone's attention back to himself.
"that's right, a mile up the road. There have been other's before that." The deputy replied.
"so this victim...you knew him?" Sam asked.
"a town like this, everybody knows everybody."
"any connection between the victims, besides that they're all men?" You asked looking at the Vic's car.
"no. Not so far as we can tell."
"so what's the theory?" Sam asked as he went around to look at the car as well, he walked around and stood beside Dean.
"honestly we don't know. Serial murder, kidnapping ring." Jeffe replied.
"that is exactly the kind of crap police work I would expect of you guys." Dean said making Sam stomp on his foot.
"thanks for your time. Gentleman." You covered up as the deputy kept frowning at all three of you. You made your way to the car and you glared at Dean. Dean slapped the back of Sam's head as soon as you guys were a bit far from the cops.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"why'd you step on my foot?"
"why'd you have to talk to the police like that?" Sam spat back.
"come on. They don't really know what's going on. We are all alone in this. If we are gonna find dad we've got to get to the bottom of this thing ourselves." dean said looking directly in his eyes. I tried walking past him but he grabbed my hand and pulled me back in front of him. "And you. I told you to stay inside."
"this was my case, Dean. You can't just bench me. And I told you this before, you don't tell me what to do, and well, thanks to me they actually believed you guys." You hissed and pried your hand away from his.
"can I help you boys?"came a voice and you looked up to see the sheriff standing there with two men.
"no sir. We were just leaving." Dean replied. "Agent Mulder. Agent Scully." You tried to walk past them but the Sharif opened his mouth again. "And you, little lady."
'who the hell are you calling little lady, old man.' you wanted to say but instead you put on a big smile and say "I'm the trainee, Mariah Larrison." He nodded and I smiled again before walking away. Sam was already inside the shotgun but Dean was standing outside.
"I'm sorry " he said. "You are right, it's your case, I won't tell you what to do. From now you take the lead and you tell us what to do." He said making you smile.
"you don't have to."
"No, I-"
"ok, we are going to meet Amy Hein." You cut him off and happily got inside the backseat and Dean was speechless still standing outside. "Come on, you said you'll do what I say, now get inside the car." Dean got inside the driver seat murmuring something under his breath.
*******
"I'll bet you that's her." Dean said as you followed the girl who was putting up posters of her missing boyfriend. "You must be Amy." You asked the girl as you guys approach her.
Yeah." She replied.
"Troy told us about you. We're his uncles. This is my girlfriend, Alex. I'm Dean, this is Sammy." Dean told the girl and I shot him a look.
"He never mentioned you to me." She said looking at all three of you then she turned around to resume her work, all three of you following her. "Well, that's Troy, I guess. We're not around much. We're up in Modesto." Dean said.
"so we're looking for him too." Sammy stepped forward. 'wow, so much for me taking the lead.' "and we are kind of asking ground." He added as you came to a stop.
"hey, are you ok?" A weird goth girl came up to Amy and asked her. "Yeah." Amy replied.
"do you mind if we ask you couple questions?" you asked her giving a sympathetic smile which was pretty hard for you because you suck at showing sympathy. "Yeah sure, I guess. We can sit inside." She said while returning your smile.
"I was on the phone with Troy. He was driving home. He said he would call me right back button about it." Said Amy as you guys sat inside, her voice was cracking up. "You didn't say anything strange? Or out of the ordinary?" You asked, trying to look as less intimidating as possible. The other girl apparently whose name was Rachel was staring at you with a strange look on her face. she was really making you uncomfortable but you didn't let it show on your face.
"no, nothing I can remember." Amy said shaking her head.
"here's the deal, ladies" Dean started leaning in more toward the table. "The way Troy disappeared, something's not right. If you've heared anything.." he continued, making the girls look at each other, having a silent conversation. "What is it?" You asked.
"well, it's just... I mean, with all these guys going missing, people talk?" Rachel finally said taking her eyes off of you.
"what do the talk about?" The brothers asked in unison making you look at them with an raised eyebrow. The girls look at each other again before Rachel spoke up.
"it's kind of this local legend. This one girl.. she got murdered out on centennial, like decades ago. " Rachel said. Dean looked at Sam then at me. "Well, supposedly, she is still out, she hitchhikes and whoever picks her up...well, they disappear forever." She completes her story and the three of you gave each other knowing looks.
"well, thank you for your time, both of you." Sam said as you stood up and made your outside the door.
"well, there is a local library, a few blocks from here, we should go and check on the lore." You said and both nodded their heads.
"whatever you say, you call the shots here, remember." Dean said making you smirk a little. You all get in the car and made your way toward the local library. The right there was pretty much silent beside Sam and Dean bickering a little like a old married couple.
When you guys got to the library you made your way toward the vecant computer, as you were about to sit in front of it Dean pushed you aside and sat down himself. "What a child." You mumbled before taking a chair and sitting beside him while Sam sat on his other side.
'female murder hitchhiking' he searched and there was no result. Then he replaced the hitchhiking with centennial but again there was no result.
"let me try" Sam said as he moved his hand toward the computer but Dean slapped it away. "I got it" he hissed. Sam pushed his chair backward and sat himself in front of the computer. "Dude!" Dean exclaimed and hit him in the arm before he wheeled back beside his brother.
"you are such a control freak."
"so angry spirits are born out of violent death right?" Sam asked you.
"yeah"
"then maybe it's not a murder." He asked as he replaced the murder on the screen with suicide. 'why haven't I thought about it?' you asked yourself. One result came up reading 'suicide in Centennial'
"this was 1981. 'Constance Welch, 24 years old, jumps off Sylvania bridge, drowns in river." Sam read the article.
"does it say what she did?" You asked at the same time Dean asked "why?"
"An hour before they found her, she calls 911. Her two little kids are in the bathtub. She leaves them for a minute and when she's back they aren't breathing... Both died"
"' our babies were gone and Constance just couldn't bear it' said husband Joseph Welch. "
"that bridge look familiar to you?" Dean asked looking at the picture of the bridge on the page. It was the same bridge where you guys meet the cops.
"you guys wanna take a trip again?" You asked
"yup" they replied in unison. All three of you for up and made your way out of the library.
"I have to say, it's nice working with you two again." Dean said getting inside the driver seat of the Impala.
"Dean, we've never worked a case together, before."
"ya... But it's still nice" he said and you will your head.
*******
"so this is where Constance took the swan dive" you said as all three of you walked to side of the bridge and looked down at the river.
"you guys think dad would have been here!" Sam asked as he did in your other side.
"well, he's chasing the same story and we are chasing him " Dean said and started walking along the bridge, you and Sam following him m
"so now what!" Sam asked.
"now we keep digging till we find him. It might take a while "
"Dean, I told you I gotta get back by-" "Monday" Dean completed Sam's sentence. "Right, the interview, I forgot." You looked between the brothers not knowing what to do. In a way you thought both of them were right, Sam only wanted to leave a normal life and Dean only wanted his brother back by his side. "you're really serious about this, aren't you? You think you're just gonna become some lawyer, marry your girl?" 'here we go again.'
"maybe, why not?"
"does Jessica knows the truth about you? I mean does she know about the things you've done?"
"no, and she's not ever going to know"
"well, that's healthy." You mumbled under your breath and the boys looked at you for a second. "you can pretend all you want, Sammy, but sooner or later you're gonna have to face up to who you really are."
"and who is that?"
"one of us."
"no! I'm not like you. I'm not like either of you. This is not gonna be my life." Sam said and you frowned at him. "Hey, I go to college too." You said but they ignored you.
"you have a responsibility "
"to dad? And his crusade? If it wasn't for pictures I wouldn't even know what mom looks like. What difference would it make? Even if we do find the thing that killed her, mom's gone and she isn't coming back." Sam said and Dean pushed him to the railing of the bridge and grabbed his collar.
"hey, hey stop, guys. This is really not the time." You pushed Dean away and stood between both of them. You put your hand on Dean's chest and he looked down at you and calmed down a little.
"don't talk about her like that." Dean warned his brother after a few seconds of silence.
"Dean, Sam" you said as you looked over and saw a girl standing over the railing of the bridge, ready to jump. You pointed at her when both the brother looked at you. The woman looked at your direction and then jumped off the bridge causing your eyes to widen. All three of you ran toward where she was standing.
"where'd she go?" Dean asked as you looked down the bridge, no sign of a woman or any life for that matter. Suddenly Dean's car roared to life and you were the first one to notice it.
"Dean." You patted on his shoulder and both of them looked at the car as well with wide eyes. "What the fuck." Dean said with wide eyes.
"who's driving your car?" Sam asked and Dean pulled out his car keys from his pocket to show you. The car started toward you and you all turned to run in opposite direction. "Come on, guys. Let's go. Go!" Sam yelled. Both of them had a lot longer legs than you which was making it harder for you to catch up with them. When the car got too close all the of you jumped off the side of the bridge but only Sam latched on the railing and you and Dean fell off and a high pitched scream left your lips. You fell in the river but heard a thud which meant Dean didn't, he fell on the side where there was only muf and goo. You crawled out and laid on the side, panting.
"you ok?" Dean asked, he was panting as well.
"yeah, I'm alive, you?"
"yeah, me too."
"Dean, Alex. You guys alright?" Sam yelled from the top of the bridge.
"I'm super." Dean replied while you only held up a thumb.
"what you laughing at, asshat." You said when Sam started laughing but he only laughed harder.
*******
"car's alright?" You asked. The first thing Dean did after you got up was check his baby. Both of you were covered with sewer water and mud, Dean a little more than you. But you bet you were colder than he was. The only thing you were wearing was the white shirt Sam lent you last night while he had a jacket on. It was sticking to your body completely. Your hot pink bra was visible through the shirt and both the brothers seemed to notice it, because Sam was trying to look away from your chest and Dean, well Dean was staring at it.
"yeah, whatever she did to it, it seems alright now." Dean replied finally looking away from you. "That constance chick.... What a bitch!" He yelled the last part as if she could hear it, and maybe she could.
"well, she doesn't want us digging around. That's for sure." Sam said as both of them at on the bonnet of the car.
"so where does the trail go from here, genius." Sam asked you and you shrugged.
"I just want a shower first." You said in a small grumpy voice.
"you bet. You guys smell like toilet." Sam said looking at you then at his brother making you glare at him. "You know what, Sammy? I think I changed my mind, I want a hug right now." You smirked at the younger Winchester and stepped forward him.
"no, stay away, Alex." He said walking away from you.
"oh come on, it's been so long." You laughed as he ran away from you and you chased him around the car.

Pilot part 2
Season one. Episode one.
Pilot (part 3)

You stood in front of the reception of the motel you guys were checking in to. Dean handed the motel clerk credit card. "One room, please." The man looked at the card and then at you.
"you guys having a reunion or something?" The clerk asked.
"what do you mean?"Sam asked.
"another guy, Bert Afframian. He came in and bought a room for the whole month." Dean give you and Sam a look. You are really happy to finally have a lead on John, it was good for a start.
The three of you bought a room and when the clerk went to get the key you quickly grabbed the register and look for Bert Afframian to see his room no.
"here." The clerk came back and handed you the key. You walked where the rooms were but instead of going to your motel room you went to John's.
Your lock pick set was still in your car so you reached inside your bra and grabbed the bobby pain you kept for emergencies. Dean raised an eyebrow and you rolled your eyes. You kneeled down in front of the door and started unlocking it, your tongue stuck out of your mouth in concentration. You finally heard a small click and the for opened.
"good job, kiddo" Sam patted your shoulder.
"yeah, not so much, I have been doing this since I was 7." you said and entered the room followed by Sam but Dean was still standing there and staring out so Sam grabbed his collar and dragged him inside.
The room was completely filled with notes and papers, on the wall, on the bed, everywhere. You look around the room. Dean went to the night stand and turned on the lamp, hi grabbed an old burger sitting beside the lamp and smelled it. You scrunched up your nose, disgusted by his behaviour.
There was a big salt circle on the middle of the room. "I don't think he's been here for a couple of days atleast. " Dean said as you walked over to look at the notes sticking to the wall.
"salt, cat's eye shell, he was worried. He was trying to keep something from coming in." Sam said and then walked over to you. "What do you got here?" Sam asked you.
"centennial highway victims." You said and Dean walked up to you as well.
"I don't get it, I mean, different men, different jobs, age, ethnicities. There's always a connection right? What do these guys have in common?" Dean said and you looked at Sam who was standing on the other side of the room starting on the opposite wall them you walked up to him to see what he was looking at.
"Dad figured it out."
"what do you mean?" Asked Dean..
"he found the same article we did. Constance Welch. She's a woman in white " you said and Sam nodded his head.
"you sly dogs." Dean smirked at the pictures of the vics. "Alright, if we are dealing with a woman in white, dad would have found the corpse and destroyed it."
"she might have another weakness." You said.
"No, Dad would want to make sure. He'd dig her up. Does it says where she's buried ?" Dean asked walking up to you and Sam.
"not that I can tell, if I were dad though, I'd ask her husband, if he's still alive."
"you see if you can find an address, I'm gonna get cleaned up. Keys." You put your hand out in front of Dean and he handed you the keys of the room you bought. As you turned around to leave the room his head tilted a bit as he kept staring at your ass till you left the room.
"dude, that's gross." Sam nudged his brother.
"no, Sammy, that's hot." He said with a smirk and pointed at where you were seconds ago.
"Dean, you can't tap that."
"what?" He asked turning to face his little brother.
"you know what I mean, Dean. You can't sleep with her, she's just 19, you'll be a felony somewhere."
"Sammy, with all the things we've done, I think I'm already a felony everywhere." Dean said and his brother glared at him.
"I'm serious, man. You cant sleep with her, that's Alex, we have been watching her since she was like, 4."
"that is a ridiculous reason to not sleep with someone." Dean frowned.
"No, it's not. Beside Jessica would kill us both, she's pretty protective over Alex."
"why?"
"well, she never had a little sister so she looks at her like a little sister. And all the boys in the campus want to sleep with 'the New girl' so she asked me to tell them off." Sam air quoted.
"well you can't blame 'em."
"Dean."
"Sam."
"DEAN."
"ok fine, I won't sleep with her." Dean finally gave up. "But you owe me not getting your ass kicked by your girlfriend." He said making his way to the bathroom.
"and hey" Sam said again. "I'm sorry for what I said before about mom and dad. I shouldn't have said that."
"hey, no chick flick moments.... Bitch"
"jerk"
*******
You got back in John's motel room just at time Dean got it of the bathroom and Sam was sitting on the bed listening to Jess' voicemail which reminded you that you have to call her because if this case won't kill you, Jessica might.
"hey. I'm starving, I'm gonna go grab a little something to eat at that diner down the street. You guys want to go?" You asked and Dean replied 'yes' at the same time Sam replied 'No'. "So you want anything?" You asked again and he shook his head. "If she picks up, tell her I'm sorry I didn't call her back, please don't kill me." You said and he let out a small chuckle before nodding his head.
"you both seem pretty scared of Jessica." Dean joked as you walked out of the room.
"yeah. She can get pretty scary."
"scarier than you?" He asked with a smirk.
"you bet she's scarier than me. She's like this overprotective sister and to be honest I kinda like it." You said .
Dean stopped in his track and you followed his eyes to see the motel clerk talking to deputy Jeffe and then the clerk pointed at your direction. Dean quickly turned around . called Sam whole you kept staring at the cops. "Dude, 5-0, take off " Dean said as the deputy approached us. "They kinda, spotted us, go find dad." He said and hung up.
"problem officers?" You asked with your sweetest fake smile.
"where's your partener?"
"he's right here with me." You said. Deputy Jeffe pointed the other officer to search the room then he look at Dean.
" so fake US Marshal, fake credit cards, you got anything that's real?"
"my boobs." Dean replied with a grin making you laugh.
"yup. Almost as real as mine." You grinned at him.
"and you, turns out the sheriff did not send any trainees on the case. Anything you want to confess? Anything this man is making you do that you don't want to?" Ok, no you were offended....and pissed.
"Ya right, just because I'm a girl, you'd assume that people can make me do things I don't want to?" You almost yelled at him and he told another officer to come around and arrest me. He grabbed both of my wrist behind my back and handcuffed me as the deputy slammed Dean against his car bonnet.
"you have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of the law." He said as he handcuffed Dean as well. Hi pushed us inside the cop car and then bro was to the station.
*******
"so you want to give us your real names?" The sheriff asked as I entered the room where you and Dean were sat, with a big box in his hand.
"I told you, it's Nugent, Ted Nugent. It's my sister Mindy Nugent." Dean said pointing at me.
"I'm not sure you realise just how much trouble you are in here."
"we're talking, like, misdemeanor kind of trouble or squeal like a pig trouble?" Dean asked making you laugh
"you got the faces of 10 missing persons taped to your wall along with the whole lot of satanic mumbo jumbo. You both are officially suspects."
"that makes sense because when the first one went missing in '82 I was 3 and she wasn't even a sperm."
"I know you got partners. One of them is an older guy. Maybe he started the whole thing." The sheriff said making you sigh and slide further into your seat. "So, tell me....Dean? Is this his?" He asked throwing a journal towards you, not just any journal, it was John's journal. He came around and sat on the table. "I thought that might be your name, but I still don't know yours." He said pointing at you.
"see I leafed through this, what little I could make out, I mean it's nine kinds of crazy, but I found this too." He said flipping through pages making you and Dean lean in. There was a page with Dean's name on it and something that seem to be coordinates. "Now.... You both are staying right here until you tell me exactly what the hell that means."
The sheriff was dead serious when he said you were staying right there until you tell him everything. Now it was night time and you are still sitting in the interrogation room beside Dean, refusing to tell the truth.
"I don't know how many times I gotta tell you? It's my high school locker combo." Dean said yet again the same thing for the 8th time and yes you kept a count.
"we just got a 911. Shots fired over at White fort road." A cop said as he poked his head inside their room and you instantly in your Sam. "Any of you have to go to the bathroom?"
"no." You replied in unison.
"good." The sheriff pulled out two handcuffs. He cuffed both of your hand to the table and one of the Dean's. Well talked about being unfair. He walked out of the room and you look that each other.
"that is so unfair." You exclaimed tugging at your wrist because if it was only your one hand you could easily get out of it. Maybe he knew that.
"maybe he hates you more than he hates me."Dean said and you rolled your eyes. After a few seconds you gave in and decided to ask Dean for help.
"Dean." You caught his attention whole he was busy looking at John's journal. You pointed at your chest and he raised his eyebrow.
"no, Alex, this is a police station. We can't do that." Dean said with a smirk making you glared at him.
"there's a pin in my bra, grab it " you said with your gritted teeth causing his smirk to only widen.
"is this your way of getting me to touch you? You could just ask you know?"
"you wanna get out of here or not?"
"okay okay" he cleared his throat sliding closer to you and then awkwardly reached out for your chest. You tried to look anywhere but him. He looked away as he reached his hand down your t shirt and bra, it was as awkward for him as it was for you. "On the left side." You almost yelled when his hand brushed directly above your breast. He pulled out the bobby pin with a grin on his face.
"you couldn't just keep it in your pocket? how is this even comfortable there?"
"people check pockets, they don't check bras." You said as he unlocked himself and then you. "Never talk of this ever." You said as you got up.
"agreed." You quickly made your way to the door and peeked out to see if anyone was outside. both of you saw the chance and jumped out the window and made a run opposite from the police station.
"hey, phonebooth. Call Sam." You pointed out the phonebooth to Dean and made your way toward it. He quickly pushed a quarter inside and dialed Sam's number.
"fake 911 call, Sammy. I don't know that's pretty illegal." He said and you pressed your ear to The phone as well. He gave you a look that said 'nice way of making things more awkward'.
"you're welcome." Sam said in the other side and you could almost imagine him laughing.
"listen, we gotta talk."
"tell me about it. So the husband was unfaithful, we are dealing with a woman in white. She is buried behind her old house, that's have been-"
"Sammy, would you shut up for a second?" Dean cut off Sam and he jumped by sudden outburst.
"I just can't figure out, why hasn't he destroyed her corpse yet."
"well, that's what I am trying to tell you. He is gone. Dad left Jericho."
"what? How do you know?"
"we've got his journal." Dean said and you pulled away and stopped listening after that. "Yeah, he did this time."
"it's the same old ex marine crap. When you wants to know where is going... I'm not sure yet." You waited eagerly for the phone call to end. " Sam, SAM. " Dean yelled on the phone making you frown. He then hung up.
"what happened?" You asked.
"looks like Sammy got himself a woman in white." He said more likely to himself. He then grabbed your hand and pulled away from the booth.
"you ever hotwired a car?" He asked
"yeah, like everyday."
"good. Let's go."
*******
Dean drive with insane high speed as you say on the passenger seat groping the seat tightly. Apparently there was a GPS in Dean's car and you were following it.
"there it is." You pointed as the Impala came into your view. The car came to an hault and you grabbed your gun and jumped out on the car. Both of you ran toward the Impala when you heard Sam screaming. You saw the woman hovering over Sam and shot at her continuously making her disappear. Sam got up, restarted the Impala and then drove inside the house.
"Sam." Both you and Dean yelled after him and then ran inside the house. " Sammy, you ok?" Dean quickly made his way to his brother. "I think." He replied as you caught up to Dean.
"can you move?" You asked.
"yeah, help me." He said and Dean helped him get out of the car. you turned around to see the woman in white picking up a picture frame from the floor. She made a cabinet slide toward you and trapped you three against the Impala. suddenly the lights started flickering and water pouring down the stairs. There were two kids standing on top of the stairs down at the woman. You nudged both the brothers since you are standing between then and pointed toward the kids.
"you have come home to us, mommy." The boy and the girl said in unison. Then they were downstairs behind Constance Welch. They grabbed her in a hug and she started screaming and then turned into a puddle of water right in front of your eyes. You push the cabinet away with a grunt and it fell and you walked there where the puddle of Constance Welch was.
"So this is where she drowned her kids." You said and Sam nodded.
"that's why she could never go home. She was too scared to face them."
"you found her weak spot, nice work, Sammy." Dean said looking proud of his little brother. You patted his chest and he let out a pained laugh.
"I wish I could say the same for you. What were you guys thinking, shooting Casper in the face?"
"hey, saved your ass." You punched his shoulder again.
"I'll tell you another thing, if you screwed up my car.... I'll kill you." Dean said making both of you chuckle.
You all got inside the car and dean pulled away from the house and made your way back to California. you were in the backseat, half asleep and Sam was riding the shotgun checking out John's Journal.
"okay, here's where Dad went. Its blackwater ridge, Colorado." You heard sam say.
"sounds charming, how far?"
"about 600 miles."
"with enough gas, we can make it by morning."
"Dean, Umm.."
"You're not going" By now you could only hear the boys, your eyes were completely closed and it wasn't in you to open them.
"the interview is in 10 hours. I gotta be there."
"Yeah. Yeah. whatever. I'll take you home." Sam turned around to check if you were asleep then he continued talking.
"I really think you should take Alex with you and Search for dad, Dean."
"what? I cant do that to her, she has a college here too. Its our dad who's missing not hers. She's got a chance to live a normal life here. I can't Just take it away from her."
"Not to be rude but I don't think she really belongs here."
"well, that is rude."
"No, I mean, she's a great student and all but... Dean, she punched the football team captain, broke his nose and his arm, on the first day of college."
"really? wow. Remind me not to get on her bad side."
"Do you really think she can survive here without killing a person or two. sooner or later she'll be kicked out of college and she'll go hunting, alone, again. And she's too young for that, so I really think you should take her with you."
"look, Sammy, I really want to but it's her decision to make, not Your's or mine. I'll ask her if she says 'Yes' great, very cool but if she says no then I can't force her." Dean said as the car came to an Pause waking you up from your light slumber.
"Are we there yet?"you asked in a gruffy voice.
"You wanna stay the night?" Sam asked.
"Nah, think I'll get back to my place.Tell Jess I'll meet her tomorrow and I'm keeping your shirt by the way." You said making him chuckle as he got out of the car.
"Maybe I can meetup with you later, huh?"
"Yeah, alright." Dean said and sam walked toward the front gate. "Sam!" Dean called out. "You know we made he hell of a team back there."
"Yeah." Sam nodded and he pulled away from the driveway. You jumped over the front seat and sat beside him.
"We have a door you Know?" He said looking at your face for a few secs then back on the road. "Yeah I know. It's Just easier. It's just a few blocks from here."
"huh?"
"My motel room " You replied.
"You live in a motel room?"
"Yeah, can't afford a place, but I'm working on it. I just don't wanna use a fake Credit card to get my first home. " He stopped in front of your motel room and you jumped out of the car.
"you did good back there, kiddo." He called out making you laugh.
"you too, Dean-o. We should do this again sometime." you said.
"Definitely" He said and Pulled away from the driveway.
you made your way inside your room and sighed at the familiar surrounding. This place wasn't exactly perfect but it was your home for 2 month. You quickly took off your clothes and pulled on a comfy old flannel, which you were sure you stole from Bobby. You didn't even bother to wear something under the shirt. You did not realise how much tired you were until your head hit the pillow.
You thought you would fall asleep right away but you didn't instead you kept thinking about today, about Dean, about Sam, John. How nice it was to have someone on your side during a hunt, to know that somebody got your back, to know that if you die today somebody's gonna miss you.
You were about you fall asleep when there were loud knock on the door. You got up quickly and grabbed your gun from the nightstand. You slowly made your way toward the door but the knocks only got louder. When you opened the door you were surprised to see Dean standing there with a panicked look on his face.
"Dean-" before you could say anything more he grabbed you and smashed his lips on yours. Your eyes widen in shock but you did not pull away.
"you ok?" He asked as soon as he pulled away from the small rough kiss. He looked around your room and then pulled you in a tight hug.
"yes, I'm fine. What happened?" You asked looking behind him to see a very sad looking Sam sitting in the Impala looking out of the window but not at you. "Dean, what happened?" You asked looking the older Winchester directly in the eyes. Although you guessed already but your heart didn't want to believe. You could not lose another person.
"Jessica." He said and your legs wobbled and you would have fall down if it wasn't for him. A small sob left your lips. He pulled you against his chest and stroked your hair.
"shhhhh" he kissed the top of your head as you continued sobbing.
"you are coming with me. I can't leave you here."

You groaned as you rolled over in the backseat of the Impala. You were not even asleep anymore but you were too lazy to get up. You could hear the music blasting through the radio. Another groan left your lips and you rolled over in your back.
"you still asleep back there?" You heard Dean asked and got up. "Nah." You replied and pressed yourself against the window. "I need coffee." You groaned and Dean handed you a cup while laughing. You were about to make a snarky remark when suddenly Sam woke up with a gasp and jumped forward.
"you ok?" Dean asked and your heart ached for Sam, actually your heart ached for yourself too, but it ached for sam more. You saw Just how much Sam loved her and losing someone you love that much is unbearable, you knew 'cause you've been through it a few times now. That's why you refused to get attached to anyone anymore.
"I'm fine." Sam replied.
"another nightmare?" You tried to ask him in the nicest way possible but he did not answer you.
"wanna driver for a while?" Dean asked and your eyes widen a little. 'well that was a first.'
"hey, how come you never asked me that before?" You asked and he threw a wrapper at you, hitting you in the face causing you to slap his shoulder. Sam finally let out a laugh at childish behavior of his brother and his friend.
"it's true, your whole life you have never once asked me that before."
"just thought you might want to. Nevermind."
"look, guys, I know you are worried about me, I get that. Thank you, but I'm perfectly ok."
"alright" you exclaimed when you started feeling the tension building in the car . "Where are we?" You asked.
"we are just outside of Grand junction." Dean answered and Sam started looking through the map of blackwater ridge. You were starting out of the window perticularly at nothing. It was silent for a while.
"maybe we shouldn't have left Stanford so soon." Sam said breaking the silence and making you sigh.
"Sam, we dug around for a week. If you wanna find the thing that killed Jess, we need-"
"to find dad first." Sam said completing his brother's sentence.
"Dad disappearing and this thing showing up again after 20 years. It's no coincidence. Dad will have answers. He'll know what to do." Dean said as he kept driving. You are still leaning against the window and you were almost asleep again, even though you just had coffee. Long rides with these two did that to you.
"it's weird, man." Sam stated making you listen to him carefully. "these coordinates he left us, this blackwater ridge... There's nothing there. It's just... Woods." Sam said making you frown
"why is he sending us to middle of nowhere?" You asked frowning at both the men in the front seat.
*******
"Rise and shine, sweetheart." Dean said opening the door you were leaning against making you almost fall out of the car but he caught you before you could hit the ground.
"what an asshole." You yelled and hit him in the arm which only earned you a chuckle from both the boys.
Sam made his way inside the rangers station followed by you and Dean.
"so, blackwater ridge is pretty remote..." Sam said while looking at the model sitting on the table while you and Dean kept looking around the office. "It's cut off by these canyons here. Rough terrain, dense forest, abandoned silver and gold mines all over the place."
"Dude, check out the size of this friggin' bear." You quickly turned around ignoring sam to see what Dean was looking at. You walked closer to him and looked at the picture. The ranger was happily standing over the big bear they hunted. 'how could these people be proud of killing innocent animals?' Dean suddenly started chuckling and you raise your eyebrow.
"I bet he could eat you in one gulp." He kept chuckling.
"hey, I'm not that small."
"oh really? I can't see you let me find my glasses." He said and you hit him yet again.
"ha ha ha. You are so funny." You rolled your eyes.
"you boys aren't planning to go out near blackwater ridge, by any chance." the ranger said and he couldn't see you since you are standing behind the brothers. All three of you turned around to face the ranger. "Oh and lady. Almost didn't see you there." He said as soon as his eyes fell on you making Dean laugh, he was happy that his point was proved. You glared at him before looking back at the ranger.
"oh, no, sir, where environmental study majors from UC Boulder, just working on a paper." You answered with the biggest smile you could muster.
"recycle, man." Dean said making you hit him from the behind.
"bull." The ranger said, thanks to Dean's overacting. "You are friends with that Haley girl right?" He asked and you stood silently for a second before not in your head. "Yes." Dean said. "We are, Ranger..... Wilkinson." The ranger laughed a little before saying.
"well, I will tell you exactly what I told her, her brother filled out a backcountry permit saying he wouldn't be back from Black water ridge until 24th. So It's exactly not a missing person, is it?" He asked and you shook your head agreeing to him. "No you tell that girl to quit worrying."
"we will. Well, that Haley girl's quite a pistol, huh?" Dean asked and you looked at Sam who looked just as confused as you over what he was doing.
"that is putting it mildly."
"actually, you know what what help? If I could show her a copy of that backcountry permit. You know, so she could see her brother's return date." Dean said, raising his eyebrows. ranger Wilkinson eyed him back for a minute before giving him copy of the permit.
"you cruising for a HookUp or something?" Sam asked as Dean walked out laughing
"what do you mean?" Dean gave his brother confused expression.
"no he's right. The coordinates point to blackwater ridge. So what are we waiting for? Let's just go find John. I mean why even talk to this chick, Haley?" You asked as you approached the car.
"I don't know maybe we should know what we are walking into before we actually walked into it." Dean shook his head at both you and his brother.
"what?" You asked in unison.
"since when are you guys 'shoot first, ask question later' ?" Dean asked and you said "since forever " at the same time Sam replied "since now." You heard Dean mumble something as you got inside the car. He got into the car as well and took off to Haley's.
You didn't know why you being so jealous, you just were. You haven't even seen this Haley girl yet, for all you know she could have a Salvador Dali mustaches. And well Dean, he made it pretty clear that you were just another kid to him. That kiss meant nothing, he was just really happy to see you alive, nothing else. How could you be jealous over something that wasn't even yours to begin with.
When you pulled up to the Collin's house you quickly got out of the car amd started making your way toward their door. But before you could take another step Dean grabbed your arm and pulled you back to him.
"you ok?" He asked looking into your eyes.
"yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" You question afraid that he could actually feel your jealousy.
"I don't know, I thought you were mad at me. You didn't say anything the whole ride."
"Dean, I'm not mad at you. If anything I think you are right, we should know what we are walking into before we actually walk into it." You said and have him a smile.
"so we good?"
"yup." You stretched out the 'p' and then made your way to the front door where Sam was already standing waiting for you two. Dean knocked on the door and a girl opened up the wooden door, but another door that had net on it was still closed.
"you must be Haley Colins. I'm Dean, this is Alex and Sam. We are rangers with the park service. Ranger Wilkinson sent is over. We wanted to ask some questions about your brother Tommy." Dean explained. She looked unconvinced, mostly because of you maybe.
"let me see some ID." She said staring right at you and you pulled out your fake ID and slammed it on the door. She looked at it for a sec but then opened the door. "Come on in. That yours?" She asked looking at baby. "Yeah." Dean replied. "Nice car." She gave a flirtatious smile to Dean and you rolled your eyes while he smirked. As soon as she turned around and went inside Dean turned to you two and mouthed 'oh man.' with a wide smile.
the fact that she was really beautiful and definitely did not have and Salvador Dali moustache was only added to your jealousy.
"so, if Tommy's not due back for a while, how do you know something is wrong?" You asked. No matter how much jealous you were you had to solve the case.
"he checks in everyday by cell, he emails photos, shipped little videos. But we haven't heard anything over 3 days now." She said as she brought out her younger brother's dinner.
"well maybe he can't get a cell reception." Sam said.
"he's got a satellite phone, too."
"could it be he's just having fun and forgot to check in?" Dean questioned.
"he wouldn't do that." This time it was Ben, Haley's younger brother who replied.
"Our parents are gone, it's just me and my two brother. We all keep pretty close tabs on each other. " She said and you gave her a small reassuring smile.
"can we see the pictures he sent you?" You said and she nodded. she showed you Tommy's pictures in her laptop then she clicked at a video and you looked that it carefully. You noticed a shadow in the video but you kept quiet. Dean told Haley that we will find her brother and that we were heading there in the morning.
"then maybe I'll see you there." She replied causing you to exchange with both brothers. "Look I can't sit around here anymore. So I hired a guide. I am heading there in the morning and I'm gonna find my brother myself."
"I think I know how you feel." Dean said and you looked around awkwardly, being the only one who doesn't have a family. Sometimes you can't even remember how it feels to have someone blood related around you.
After that you guys headed to a bar which you were pretty sure that you weren't allowed at but hey thanks to fake ID cards. you already had two beers and you were a bit lightheaded not tipsy or drunk just a little more lightheaded than normally. Sam opened up his file and started talking about blackwater ridge victims but you were barely paying attention to him.
"every 23 years. Just like clockwise." Sam continued as he opened his laptop. "I downloaded Tommy's video to the laptop and look what I found." Before he could say anything further you blurred out.
"so what, it's a shadow, it can move. It's flesh. You did not make a big Discovery." You exclaimed making both the brothers chuckle.
"woah, princess, you almost stole Sammy's thunder."
"it's just, can you be any more geeky about this?" You said making Dean laugh again.
"I got one more thing." Sam said and you took your eyes mumbling ''of course You do, Sammy, of course you do."
"in '59, one campus survived the supposed grizzly attack. Just a kid.. barely crawled out of the woods alive."
"is there a name."
"Dean, it's Sam you are talking to, he probably got his address." You said making Sam smirk.
*******
"look, rangers, I don't know why you're asking me this. It's public record. I was a kid. My parents got mauled by a -" the grumpy old man said as soon as we asked him the question about the attack.
"grizzly? That's what attack them?" Sam asked completing his sentence. Mr Shaw took a puff of his cigarette and nodded his head.
"the other people that went missing that year... Those were bear attack too." You asked stepping forward. Mr Shaw looked nervous, like he was hiding something, and he most definitely was. "What about all the people that went missing this year? Same thing?" This time it was Dean who asked the question.
"if we knew what we were dealing with, we might be able to stop it." You said in a soothing voice which you always used while questioning witnesses, well most of the times, with stubborn ones it's always threats of making them eat their own intestine. Both the boys seemed a bit surprised by this side of you, specially Dean. Mr. shaw looked at the three of you, not sure if to say anything or not.
"Mr. Shaw, what did you see?" You asked again as you sat on the chair next to him.
"nothing." He said and you frowned. "It moved too fast to see. It hid too well. I heard it though. A roar. " he said and you look back at the brothers who were standing right behind you for a second as Mr. shaw continued his story.
"He came at night? Got inside your tent?" Sam asked.
"he got inside our cabin." Mr. Shaw answered. 'so whatever it was knew how to pick locks?' you asked yourself.
"I was sleeping in front of the fireplace when it came in. It didn't smash a window or break the door, it unlocked it. I didn't even wake up till I heard my parents screaming."
"it killed them?" Sam asked.
"why it left me alive, didn't ask myself ever since. It did leave me this though." He said after a small pause. He pulled down the collar of his jumper to show you a claw mark. It was too big to qualify as claw mark. Nothing you've ever seen had claws that big.
"there's something evil in those woods. It was some sort of a demon " Mr. Shaw said and you gave him a sympathetic look.
"thank you for your time, Mr. Shaw. " You said politely as the the of you made your way outside to the car.
"what the hell was that?" Dean asked as soon as you were outside.
"what?" You asked making your way around the car to sit in the backseat.
" 'Mr. Shaw what did you see' " he said mocking you and Sam giggle. "Since when do you talk like that?" He asked and got inside the driver seat.
"first of all he was a nice person and I always talk to nice witnesses like that and second, I so did not sound like that."
"oh, you sounded worse, almost creeped me out back there. I thought you were possessed or something." He said and you took the empty coffee cup from the backseat and threw it at him.
"OW!" He exclaimed and threw it back at you
You finally made it to the motel. The whole ride you and Dean bickered. You were standing by the car with Dean as Sam went to get you rooms. You were leaning against the bonnet and looking around you. When your eyes finally fell on the older Winchester beside you, he was already looking at you. Just starting at your face and saying nothing.
"what?" You asked letting out a very small laugh. "Stop staring." You said and turned his face away from you but he looked back at you.
"Alex." He finally said making you frown at his tone. "About that kiss-"
"no Dean, it's ok. I get it, you were just very happy to see me, that's it-"
"no Alex, that's not it, I lied. I mean, I was very happy and relieved to see you alive but I want you to know that that's not it. I don't know why I just want to be honest with you." He said making you frown even harder. You were about to say something but he cut you off again.
"Let me finish. When I saw you that day after all these years I felt something. I don't know what but something and it wasn't just something physical or sexual, it was like I had to be around you. And on that hunt when you were beside me all the time, I had this big urge to protect you, to keep you safe. For the first time I actually cared for my life, like I had something worth living for." You were dumbfounded by his confession, a part of you was beyond happy, gleaming but the other part was scared. Scared that if you get attached to him you'll lose him too. Like you always do.
"but I don't want to get your hopes up, I don't want to get either of our hopes up. You are too young for my shit, you already got so much on your plate and I just can't add to it. And like I said I want to be honest with you, I don't think there will ever be a future for us together. " He said and you let out a chuckle.
"I know the drill, Dean. We are Hunter, there's never a happily ever after for us. There never can be anything between us. Let's just hope we can be friends without making things awkward between us." You said this time making him chuckle.
"they had only one room left. With two beds." You almost didn't notice Sam untill he was right beside you. "everything ok with you two?" Sam asked looking simultaneously between him brother and his friend.
"yup. Dean was telling me about the time you cried while watching Titanic."
"Dude, that was you." Sam exclaimed and you raised your eyebrow at Dean. "Yeah, whatever. You peed your pants when you were in second grade." Dean said as the three of you made your way toward your motel room. "Dude, I was 6. "
"ok guys enough. What are the sleeping arrangements?" you said as the three of you made your way inside the motel room and looked at two queen size beds on the either side of the room and a small couch on the other end of the room.
"me and Sam are to big to fit on the couch. So that leaves you " Dean said pointing a finger at you.
"nope. Not happening. I'm not sleeping on that couch. I Don't know how many gross assess have been there." You said looking at the dirty couch. "And done what?" Sam added and both of you scrunch up your nose in disgust.
"ok fine. The floor is it." Dean replied while taking off his jacket and throwing it on the couch.
"Dean this is where you say, 'ok, Alex, you take the bed I'll sleep on the floor.' " you said
"hell no, I'm not sleeping in the floor. Ask Sam."
"hey, hey, don't drag me into this. This bed is already mine." Sam said jumping on the bed on the left side on the room and sprawling out making both you and Dean roll your eyes. He was too big to even share with. "Well, I'm not sleeping on the floor either." You said looking him straight in the eye. Sam was watching both of you, curious about what was gonna happen next
"well, sweetheart, if you don't wanna sleep on the floor. You are welcome to join. " He says with a smirk and sat on the foot of the bed.
"you know what? Actually I will." You said taking off your jacket and shoes and then got inside the sheets. "but don't get too wussy if I kick you in the crotch in the middle of the night." This was your turn to smirk as you covered yourself with the sheet. You heard a scoff coming out of Sam and next thing you know Dean grabbed the pillow and throw it between the two begs.
The next morning the three of you were getting ready to leave for the hunt. When you made your way out of the bathroom you heard Dean say "spirits and demons don't have to unlock the doors. If they want inside they just go through the Walls."
"so it's probably something else, something corporeal." You said slipping in your boots and sitting on the bed to tie them. When you looked up both the boys were staring at you. "What?"
"corporal? Excuse me, professer." Dean smirked. "Shut up." You said.
"so what do you think?" Sam asked.
"the claws, the speed that it moved. It could be a skinwalker, maybe a black dog. Whatever we're talking about, we're talking about a creature and it's.....'corporeal' " Dean said looking at you when he said the last word and you hit his arm mumbling a "asshat". You made your way outside to the Impala and loaded the trunk. "Wait. Which means we can kill it." You said with a bright smile.
"you're weird." Sam mumbled.

Wendigo (part 2)

"isn't it just great." You said as Dean pulled up outside of blackwater ridge. Both the boys gave you questioning looks and you continued. "you know, the three of us walking into woods not knowing what we're going to face. It's really fun." You said in a sarcastic tone. You're feeling a bit anxious. It never happened before.
"You wanna stay in the car?" Dean asked raising gotta eyebrow.
"Hell no. I wanna kill something..... Better be this son of a bitch than you." You added making Sam laugh.
You got out of the car and saw that Haley was already standing there with Ben and a man standing behind them. "Awesome." You mumbled under your breath. You saw the man eyeing you in a weird way and you glared at him. You already hated his guts even though he haven't even opened his mouth yet.
"You got room for three more?" Dean asked her as Sam got the weapon bag out from the trunk
"Wait, you wanna come with us?" Haley asked. Before you could say something the man opened his mouth. "Who are these guys?" His eyes never left you.
"Apparently this is all the park service could muster up for search and rescue." Haley said. "Well, we're the ones who gonna save your ass in the end of the day." You mumbled under your breath.
"You're rangers?" He asked looking away from you and then to Sam and Dean. "That's right." Dean replied.
"And you're hiking it in biker boots and jeans?" Haley said making you look down at your attire.
"Well, sweetheart, I don't do shorts." Dean said walking past her and you followed him and ran straight up to Sam who was ahead of everyone else
"Oh, you think this is funny? It's dangerous Backcountry out there, her brother might be hurt." The man said and you looked back at him.
"Believe me, I know how dangerous it can be out there. We just wanna help them find their brother, that's all." Dean said walking past you and Sam.
"Is it just me or this guy gives you douchebag vibes too?" You leaned closer to Sam and asked, making him chuckle. "Yeah, it's not just you "
As you guys walked further into the woods, Roy and Dean were walking ahead all of you and the two of you were walking behind Ben and Haley in case something decide to attack from behind. You really did not like this Roy guy at all, specially the way he looked at you, it gave you creeps
You had no idea how long it has been since you started walking. Apparently your watch thought it was the best time to just stop. You always wore the old watch wherever you go, it was a useless thing but it was your mom's so you couldn't just throw it away.
"So, Roy, you said you did some hunting huh!" Dean asked. You don't know why but he just thought it was a very nice idea to chit chat with the 'tour guide'.
"Yeah more than a little. " He said in a proud voice.
"What kind of furry critters do you hunt?" You let out a small Google at the question and Roy looked back at you with a glare.
"Mostly buck, sometimes bear." He answered.
"Oh yeah, so Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?" You couldn't help but comment with a smirk as you made your way past Roy and Dean. Before you could step further Roy grabbed your arm and pulled you back.
"Hands off." You said through your gritted teeth but he didn't reply instead he picked up a stick with another hand and poked it on the ground. A bear trap closed around it making you flinch a little.
"You should watch where you're stepping.... princess." he said with a sick smirk.
"Thank you and all but if you don't leave me right now I will punch you into Oblivion." You said in a cold voice, he quickly left your arm and started walking again.
"You didn't pack any provisions. You are not rangers so who the hell are you guys." Haley stepped in front of Dean stopping him in the track. Dean gestured you and Sam to keep walking and you did as he said.
"You ok?" Sam asked as you kept walking. "yeah, what would happen to me."
"With Roy back there, you looked like you could kill him."
"Maybe I would if we don't get this creature today " you tried to make a joke to get away from the conversation. "No, Alex. I'm serious, I've noticed, you seem little jumpy around strange men."
Sam said but you stayed silent. "Look, I don't know what happened in your past. But if you want to talk I'm here, we both are here."
"And you got all of that from me telling a man to fuck off?" You stopped and looked at him.
"No. Ummm. I kind of saw you, last night. You were having a nightmare.... You were yelling at someone to let you go." He said looking you straight in the eyes. "I wanted to confront you this morning but I couldn't find the right time."
"It was a nightmare, Sammy. There is always someone grabbing you in your nightmares." You said. You turn to walk away but he held your hand.
"Just so you know, you can tell me anything" you nodded and gave him a smile before resuming to walk behind Roy. Both of you kept glaring the back of his head and kept commenting about how he looked like Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy had a lovechild. Roy looked back at you when both of you suddenly started laughing. Ben was walking just behind you and Haley and Dean were walking behind him.
"This is it. Blackwater ridge." Roy said finally stopping.
"What coordinates are we at?" You asked looking around the woods.
"35 and minus 111." He answered looking at his GPS. Dean walked up and stopped beside you and Sam making you look at him for a second.
"You guys heart that?" Dean asked. It was dead silent. "Yeah." You asked Sam replied. "Not even crickets " Sam mumbled but loud enough for you to hear.
"I'm gonna go take a look around." Roy said making you all turn around to face him.
"You shouldn't go off by yourself." You said.
"Awww. You worried about me, princess. Its okay I'll be fine." he said and if Sam didn't hold you back you would have broken his nose.
"call me that one more time and you'll be here all night picking up your teeth from the ground." You said as he walk past you and more into the woods. He raised both of his hands up in surrender but did not stop walking.
"Good I hate him." You said through gritted teeth. "Hey, you can kick his ass once the case is done." Dean said making you smile at him.
"Alright, everybody stay together. Let's go." Dean said and you all started walking where Roy went.
"Hey, Alex." You stopped when you heard Haley called out then you both started walking together.
"So.... Are you and Dean an item?" She hesitated before asking.
"No, no, we're just good friends. Why?" You asked although you knew why she was asking. For a second you thought you should lie to her and tell her that you are, but that would've been a dick move. If Dean didn't want you like that you couldn't force yourself on him and you definitely couldn't come between him hooking up with other girls.
"Nothing. Just curious." She said as you kept walking. "By the way you guys would look cute together." She commented and you looked at Dean as you almost started imagining a relationship with him.
"As if." You gulped and let out a humourless chuckle.
You heard Roy yelled Haley's name and you all started running toward the direction of the sound. You stopped in front of a campsite which was completely torn apart. There was blood over the tents and all the things were scattered.
"Oh my god." Haley whispered and you couldn't hear it if you weren't standing so close to her.
"Looks like a grizzly." Roy said making you roll your eyes. You got closer to the tents and started looking for any sign. "Tommy Tommy" Haley started telling and Sam ram after her shushing her. "Something might still be out there." He told her.
"Alex, Sam." You heard Dean call it your name and you went toward him where he was sitting on the ground looking at something.
"The bodies were dragged from the campsite. But here, the tracks just vanish. It's weird." He said and you kept looking at the marks on the ground.
"I'll tell you what. It's no skin walker or black dog." Dean said and made his way where everyone else was, you and Sam following close after him.
"Help." You heard some one tell and yours eyes followed the voice. All of you took off after it. You pulled out your gun on the way and so did Dean.
"It seems like it was coming from around here, didn't it."
There was something strange about the voice. And it definitely wasn't of a victim.
"Everybody back to camp." Sam yelled and all of you ran back to the campsite to find that all of your bags over gone.
"So much for GPS and satellite phone." Roy said.
"What the hell is going on?" Haley asked looking at you.
"It's smart. It wants to cut us off so we can't call for help " you said looking at the destroyed tents. "You mean someone, some nut job out there stole all out gear." Roy corrected you but you choose to ignore him for the mean time. Like Dean said, you could always kick his ass when the case is over.
"Alex, Dean, I need to speak with you guys..... In private." Sam said and walked more into the woods expecting you and Dean to follow him and you did. "Okay." You said once he stopped. "Let me see dad's journal." Sam said and Dean handed him John's journal. "Alright, check that out." He opened the page and held it between you and Dean.
"Oh, come on. Wendigos are in Minnesota woods or northern Michigan. I have never heard of one this far West."
"No, Sam's right. The claws, the way it can mimic a human voice.... It was like he wanted us to leave the campsite." You said looking between the brothers. "Great." Dean muttered sarcastically. "Well then this is useless." He said pointing to his gun. Sam handed him the journal and walked back before saying. "We gotta get these people to safety." He left you and Dean alone.
"You know you're pretty smart for 19." He said turning back to you.
"Don't tell anyone, I'm secretly 55." You sassed and made your way back to the campsite Dean following close beside you.
"Kid, don't worry, whatever's out there, I think I can handle it " you heard Roy say to Sam when you got back. "Its not me I'm worried about. If you shoot this thing, you are just gonna make it mad. we have to leave. Now."
"One, you are talking nonsense. Two, you are in no position to give anybody orders. " Roy said.
"Ok dickbag, we are trying to protect you here, so you better do what he says because trust me this thing won't be as cuddly as us." You said walking closer to Roy.
"You'll protect me? I was hunting these woods when your mommy was still kissing you goodnight." Roy tried walking closer to you but Dean was in front of you in an instant. "You take one more step closer to her and I swear." He said glaring at Roy. You wanted to tell him that you could take care of yourself but in a way it felt nice that someone was there to protect you.
"It's a damn near perfect Hunter. It's smarter than you. And it's gonna hunt you down and eat you alive unless you get your stupid sorry ass out of here." Sam said a lot calmer than you and Roy let out a dry laugh.
"You know you guys are crazy right?"
"Yeah, you ever hunt a wen-" Sam was cut off by Dean as he pushed him away with his hand on his chest. "Chill out."
"Stop it. Everybody just stop." Haley said posting Roy away lightly. "look. Tommy might still be alive. And I'm not leaving here without him."
"This thing is a good hunter in the day but an unbelievable hunter at night. We'll never beat it, not in the dark. We need to settle in and protect ourselves." Dean said.
Dean found some sticks started drawing Anasazi symbols around the campsite. You started a fire, Roy tried to help you but you jumped away from him, Dean grabbed your hand and pulled you away from him.
"One more time, what's that?" Haley questioned as she sat beside the fire. "An Anasazi symbol. It's for protection." Dean said and made one there as well. Roy started laughing and you glared at him. "Don't be an asshole, Roy." Your said as calmly as you could
Dean took your hand again and lead you over to where Sam was sitting. He didn't leave your hand even after you sat down and you couldn't say that you minded either. You subconsciously intertwined your fingers with his. He looked down at your hand but did not make a comment on it.
"Wanna tell me what's going on in that freaky little head off yours?" Dean asked Sam. You looked awkwardly between the brothers feeling like you were invading their personal space but Dean never let go of your hand so you couldn't leave.
"Dean-"
"No, you're not fine. And neither are you." He said cutting off Sam and looking at both of you simultaneously. "You're like a powder keg, man. It's not like you. I'm supposed to be the belligerent one, remember?" Dean said and you decided to keep silent and let the brothers talk and pretend that you're not here.
"Dad's not here." Sam said making your heart ache for the boy. "I mean, that much we know for sure, right? He would have left us a message, a sign, right?"
"Yeah, you are probably right. Tell you the truth, I don't think dad's been to lost Creek."
"Then let's get these people back to town and let's get the road. Go find dad, I mean why are we still even here?" Sam said and Dean too out John's journal. "This is why. This book. This is Dad's single most valuable possession. Everything he knows about every evil thing is in here. And he's passed it on to us, I think he wants ud to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things, the family business."
"Look, Sam." you finally said after sitting silent for a while. "I know it's not my place to have an opinion but I think John wants you to do this job. I think he wants both of you here. And it wouldn't feel right if we just leave this thing alive for it to take another life and destroy another family. And trust me I want to find John just as much as you do, I don't have a family and you guys are the closest to one I'll every get. And we will find John I promise but we gotta take care of the things along the way, because that is what he wants and that is the right thing." You said an you held hands hand with your spare one and looked between the brothers.
"And promise we will find that thing that killed Jess." Sam said looking you in the eye. "It's the only thing I think about." He added.
"Listen to me, you gotta prepare yourself for what's coming, I mean this search could take a while, and all that anger, you can't keep it burning over the long haul. it's gonna kill you ." Dean said looking at both of you
"How do you guys do it?" Sam asked.
"For one, them " Dean said looking over to the campsite where Haley and Ben were sitting. "I figured our family's screwed to hell, maybe we can help some others. It makes things a little bit more bearable."
"I'll tell you what else helps." You chipped in and the brothers looked at you "killing as many evil some of bitches as I possible can " you said making them smile and chuckle a little. You laugh was cut off short when you heard another call for help. It was even more louder and clearer than the last one.
You took out your gun and ran to the campsite. Sam too out a torch and started looking in the woods.
"Help me " another scream came and you heard Dean cock his gun.
You knew it was the wendigo and You were pretty ready to kill this soon of a bitch.

Wendigo part 3
Season one. Episode Three.
Dead In The Water (Part 1)

You looked at the clock beside your motel bed, it read 2 am. "Perfect." You mumbled and got it of the bed. Dean was on the ground sleeping like a baby and Sam was in the other bed, surprisingly sleeping too. You took out a paper and started writing.
"Sam, Dean,
You guys were right, there are a lot of things in not telling you guys, I'm not telling anyone. Maybe that's why you can't trust me completely. And I can't go hunting with people who can't trust me. I'm sorry, I really am but I have to leave but I promise I'll do everything I can to help you guys find John. Hunting with the two of you really made me happy, but I gotta go now.
Alex."
You left the letter in the nightstand and left one of your gun over it. You quickly got your duffle bag and got out of the room. You hot wired a car from the parking lot and drive away into the night, not exactly knowing where to go.
******
You circled yet another article on the paper as you sat in the coffee shop. you haven't solved any case every since you left the Winchesters and it was driving you crazy. There was no lead on John either, it felt like your entire life purpose was failing right before your eyes. You already missed the brothers even though you haven't spent much time with them yet. See, this is what you were afraid of, getting attached to them.
"You want another coffee?" The waitress said and you looked at already 8 empty espresso ships cups and shook your head. "no, I think it's fine, I'll just pay now." You said going her your best fake smile.
"It's ok, we got it." A voice said and you turned around with wide eyes. There stood the Winchesters with all of their glory. Dean slid in beside you and Sam in front of you "what?... How?....how'd you guys find me?" You said looking between the brothers.
"We have to give it to you, you are very good at hiding, but we......we are better at finding." Dean said with a smirk, sounding very proud of himself.
"We just saw you from the window to be honest, we couldn't find you." Sam spilled out the truth.
"Sammy, for ones can you just lrt me have it." Dean glared at his brother for ruining the moment for him.
"Dude, you made us sound like some creepy stalkers." Sam said and the look of realization came over Dean's face. He was about to say something more but you cut him off
"Ok, ok, guys. I think I made it pretty clear that I want to hunt alone." You season looking back at the news papers.
"About that. Look, Alex, it's not like we don't trust you, ok? we do-" Sam started but you cut him off.
"Ya right, that's why instead of confronting me, you guys were talking behind my back because that is exactly what a person does to someone who they trust." You got up but Dean held your hand and sat you down again.
"Look, kid, we are sorry, it's not that we don't trust you, we were just worried about you." Dean said looking you in the eyes and you sighed deciding to tell them the truth.
"I know." You finally said in a calm voice. "And it is not the exact reason why I left." You said and both the boys gave you confused looks.
"You both could have died back there, and that scared the hell out of me. I'm used to hunting alone, I'm used to not care about my partner dying on a hunt. I got so scared that if I get attached to you guys and if something happens to you, I wouldn't be able to take it. I can not take another person dying anymore." You said and Sam started to say something but you weren't finished yet. "You know, everytime my phone rings.... I'm scared to pick it up. Because it could be someone calling me to tell me that Bobby is dead. Do you know how scared I am every moment of him being dead? John being dead? And I can't just and your name to that list too. I've lost too much already, I can not afford to lose another person, I just can't. And....and I thought if I could just blame you two, leaving you would be easy, but it's not. It's so hard." Your voice broke but you didn't cry, you just couldn't cry. Dean pulled you in and hugged you closer and Sam slid in beside you and joined both of you in the hug.
"Ok, now you guys are kind of chocking me." You let out a giggle and they both left you.
"Alex, I know how you feel, trust me we both know. But you are not going to lose us." Sam said. "I promise you." He added making you smile.
"And you know, the three of us, are hell of a team. So you either come back with us willingly..." Dean said.
"Or?" You asked raising an whoever giving him a challenging look.
"Or I pack you up on my duffle bag."
"Hey, I'm not that small." You exclaimed hitting his chest.
"So you coming back with us?" Sam asked with hope in his eyes and really who can resist that puppy?
"Ok. But please tell me you have a case, I need to kill something ASAP or I'll go complete crazy." You said.
"And she's back." They both said in sync.
"Can I bring you guys anything?" The waitress said walking up to your table and Dean gave her a flirtatious smile making you roll your eyes. "just the check please." Sam said and she walked away.
"You know, Sam, we are allowed to have fun once in a while. That's fun." Dean said pointing at the waitress, more like at her ass.
"Here, take a look at these." You said chipping in. "I don't know if that's even our kind of thing or am I just being really paranoid because I haven't solved a case in a week." You pointed at the article you recently circled.
"Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin. Last week, Sophie Carlton, 18, walks into the lake, doesn't walk out. Authorities dragged the water.... Nothing. Sophie Carlton's the third lake Manitoc drowning this year. The other bodies weren't found either. B the funeral was 2 days ago." You explained to the brothers.
"A funeral?" Sam asked with a frown.
"Yeah, weird I know. They buried an empty coffin." You said
"For closure or whatever I guess." Dean said sipping from one of my cups and then spitting out immediately. "Dean, I ordered that when I got here..... I've been here for three hours " you said and he gave you a disgusted look.
"Closure? What closure? People don't just disappear, Dean. Other people just stop looking for them." Sam said looking at his brother and again you could feel the tension building in. "uh oh." You let out a small sound.
"Something you wanna say to me?"
"The trail for Dad, it's getting colder everyday."
"What are we supposed to do?"
"I don't know. Something, anything."
"You know what? I'm sick of this attitude, you don't think I want to find dad just as much as you do? I've been with him every single day for the past two years while you've been off to college going to pep rallies. We will find dad but we gotta solve cases between here and there. Okay?" Dean said almost in one breath and when the waitress passed by you he completely forgot the conversation and his eyes followed her, making you roll yours again.
"Alright, lake Manitoc." They both got up and eyed you when you didn't. "I have a condition."
*******
"I swear to God no one would believe you're an federal agent." Dean said as he pulled up at the Carlton's house.
"I can make myself look older." You said looking at yourself in the rearview mirror then opening the first few buttons on your flannel.
"Your idea of looking older is.....more cleavage?" Dean asked as the three of you got out of the car. "yeah, worked before." You said walking up to the house, Dean and Sam following close behind. You Knocked on the door and a bit opened up.
"Will Carlton?" You asked and noticed his eyes going to your chest for a few seconds making Dean roll his. "Yeah, that's right."
"I'm agent Ford. This is agent Hamill and Rosemary. We're with the US wildlife service." Dean said. "We are here to talk about Sophie Carlton." Sam added.
Will took you guys to the back of their house where the lake was. You could see Bill Carlton sitting on the dock, sadly.
"She was about a hundred yards out. That's where she got dragged down." Will said pointing to the lake.
"You're sure she didn't just drown?"
"No, she was varsity swimmer. She practically grew up in that lake. She's as safe out there as her own bathtub."
"So, no splashing? No sign of distress?" Dean question.
"No, that's what I'm telling you?"
"Did you see any shadows in the water? Maybe some dark shape breach the surface?" You asked but he kept shaking his head.
"Ever seen any strange tracks by the shorelines?" Dean asked. "No, never, why? What do you think is out there?" He asked looking a tiny bit freaked out. "We'll let you know as soon as we know?"Dean replied walking back to the Impala.
"What about your father? Can we talk to him?" You asked pointing at Bill Carlton. "Look, if you don't mind, I mean he didn't see anything. He's kind of been through a lot." Will said and you nodded. "we understand." Sam assured him and you walked back to the Impala as well.
"So, where to now." Dean asked looking at you through rearview mirror. You smirked knowing where his eyes were exactly.
"The local police station, I guess." Sam shrugged his shoulder and Dean started driving.
"You know, I really think we should talk to Bill Carlton." You said looking out of the window as Dean kept driving towards the police station. "Yeah me too. The way he was looking at the lake, he must have seen something." Sam said agreeing with you.
"Or, maybe he was just really grieving, you know, he did just lost a daughter." Dean said.
"Yes, that's right too..... So we'll talk to him." You said ending the discussion 'causing Dean to roll his eyes.
Dean pulled up at the station and walked inside. You walked up to the first desk you saw and pulled out your ID. "We would like to speak with Sheriff about the case of Sophie Carlton. We are with the wildlife service." You said to the man sitting on the desk as Sam and Dean pulled out their IDs as well to show him. You saw his eyes trailed up your body and finally landed in your face, his face was flushed. Dean was glaring daggers at the man.
"You look awfully young to be an agent." He finally said when he was done checking you out. It gave you the creeps but that smile never fluttered from your face.
"Trust me Joseph, is it Joseph?" Your asked reading the J on his badge. "It's not but you can call me that." You let out a fake giggle. You could tell that he was new and you could see the redness of his face that occured by talking to you.
"I may look young but I'm very experienced." You said with a suggestive smile and You could feel Sam's awkwardness and Dean's glare behind your back. "So? Sheriff?"
"Huh?"
"Where's the sheriff?"
"Oh right? Follow me?" He got up and you guys followed him.
"Told you, it works." You whispered leaning in to Dean and Sam cleared his throat. Dean looked a bit pissed off as he answered. "Yeah, whatever."
"Sheriff Devins? This is agent Ford and This is agent Hamill and Rosemary, we are from wildlife service and here to talk about Sophie Carlton's case." Dean said when you entered the sheriff's office and he stood up and told Joseph to go away.
"Now, I'm sorry, but why does the wildlife service care about an accidental drowning?" Sheriff said as he gestured you to take a seat. You sat down in front of his desk with Sam on your left side and Dean on your right.
"You sure it's accidental? Because Will Carlton saw something grab her sister " Sam said.
"Like what? There are no indigenous Carnegie's in that lake. There's nothing even big enough to pull down a person.... Unless it was the Loch ness Monster."
"Yeah, right." Dean let out a laugh then looked at you and Sam and sheriff continued. "Will Carlton is traumatised and sometimes the mind plays tricks. Still, we dragged the entire lake. We even ran a sonar sweep just to be sure, and there was nothing down there."
"That's weird, though. I mean, that's...that's the third missing body this year " Dean said leaning toward the sheriff.
"These are people from my town, people I care about. Anyway ..... All this.... It won't be a problem much longer." He said making Dean frown but you knew what he was talking about. You do your homework though.
"What do you mean?" Dean asked.
"Well, the Dam, of course ."
"Yeah, it's falling apart." You nodded your head and Dean and Sam raised their eyebrows at you.
"And the feds won't give us the grant to repair it, so they opened the spillway. In another six months there won't be much of a lake, in another six months there won't be much of a town either. But as federal wildlife you already knew that."
"Exactly." Dean said nodding hours head.
"Sorry, am I interrupting." A female voice came and you turned around and stood up to look at the brunette standing in the doorway. "I can come later." She said.
"Gentlemen, lady, this is my daughter." Sheriff Jake said pointing at the woman. Your eyes instantly went to Dean who was giving her his most flirtatious smile which made it roll your eyes.
"It's pleasure to meet you. I'm Dean."
"Andrea Barr, hi." She introduced herself with a smile. "Hi." He replied with a bigger one.
"They're from the wildlife service." Sheriff interrupted their greeting. "About the lake." As soon as he mentioned the lake you could see the change of expression on Andrea's face. Her smile was completely gone. You saw a little boy coming out from behind Andrea and you smiled at him.
"Oh, hey there. What's your name?" Dean asked the boy and he ran away and Andrew went after him with a sad face.
"His name is Lucas." Jane answered for hours grandson.
"Is he ok?" You asked not talking your eyes off of the little boy.
"My grandson's been through a lot. We all have." He said walking out from his chair. "Well, if there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. Thanks." He added leading you out of his office.
"Hey, now that you mentioned it, could you point us in the direction of a reasonably priced motel?" Dean asked Andrea. Great! Dean looking for hookup is exactly what you need right now.
"Lakefront motel. Go 'round the corner, it's two blocks up." Before you could thank her and move along Dean said. "would you mind showing us?" She chuckled before replying. "You want me to walk you two blocks?"
"Not if it's any trouble." You gritted your teeth but stayed quiet.
"I'm headed that way anyway. I'll be back to pick him up at three." She told her father and kissed hat son's head, promising him to go to the park later. "Thanks again." You told the sheriff before following Dean who was following Andrea.
"Agent." You heard a voice as soon as you stepped out of the precinct. All of you stopped and turned to see Joseph, or at least that's what he told you to call him, running toward you. "what the hell." You and Dean whispered at the same time.
"You forgot this." Joseph said, almost out of breath as he held out a napkin.
"It's not-"
"Just keep it." He handed it to you anyway and then walked away but not before winking at you. "Wow, guy got some nerves." Sam chuckled. You opened the napkins and both the brothers looked at it over your shoulder. It had his number and apparently his address. "my shift ends at 6." Dean read out loud glaring at the paper.
"Come on, throw it away, you don't need that." Dean said reaching out for the paper but you quickly put it inside your pocket. Of course you were not going to call him but you love pissing Dean off.
"I don't know, Dean, it might come handy." You gave him a sweet fake smile knowing how it was pissing him off. He glared at your and clenched his jaw.
"That's Justin. He's new....and awkward. I'm surprised he has the guess to ask a girl out, let alone an agent." Andrea said and you started walking again. Dean tried to change the subject.
"You have a very cute kid." Dean said making Andrea smile and you and Sam roll your eyes.
"Thanks." She said as you crossed the road.
"You are not really going to call him are you?" Sam whispered leaning in.
"No, but he doesn't need to know that." You whispered back making him chuckle.
"Kids are the best, huh." Dean commented and you and Sam almost let out a loud laugh at it. Making him glare at you.
"This is it." She said stopping in front of a motel. "Like I said, two blocks."
"Thanks." Sam said.
"Must be hard with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way through a decent pick up line." She said before walking away and you held your laugh.
"Seriously Dean, 'kids are the best'?" You said mimicking him. "You don't even like kids."
"I love kids." He protested.
"Name three children that you even know." Sam said and you raised your eyebrow at the older Winchester.
"That's what I thought." You said and turned around to walk inside the motel.
"I'm thinking." You heard Dean called out and ran up to catch up with you and Sam.
"Do you want an separate room, Alex?" Sam asked.
"No, actually you know what?" You said smirking at the older brother. "Now that Dean is so used to sleeping on the floor, I think one room is fine. No need to waste money right?" You said innocently.
"Ya true." Sam said walking up to the clerk leaving you and Dean alone once again. Dean was still glaring at you. "What?" You asked.
"So, that's your choice? James Dean reject?" Dean asked raising an eyebrow. "Come on, Alex, I thought you could do better."
"Oh really? Can I?" You asked with an raised eyebrow, faking a confused look. "Like who?"you crossed your arms across your chest.
"What?"
"You said I could do better, so who do you think is better for me?" You asked with a smirk and he gave you a look which told you he wanted to say his name but couldn't. "Yeah, that's what I thought." You said when he kept silent. As in queue Sam walked up to you.
when you got in the room you quickly took off your jacket and threw it on one of the bed as if you were claiming it. You took off your flannel as well which left you in that gray tank top and jeans. You put your bag on the end of the bed and sat beside it. Sam immediately started doing his research.
"So, there's the three drowning victims this year." Sam said as you been down to take off your boots.
"And before that?" Dean asked.
"Oh yeah, there's more, spread out over the past 35 years."
"Those bodies were not recovered either?" You asked Sam.
"If there is something out there, it's picking up it's pace." Said Sam.
"We got a lake monster on a binge?" Dean said. You were staring at him because you had no idea what the hell he was doing with his clothes. He was smelling them and then throwing them in his duffle.
"This whole lake monster theory, it just bugs me." Sam said with a frown and you looked away from the weirder Winchester. "Why?" Dean asked and Sam turned to look at you as well.
"Loch Ness, Lake Champlain. There are literally hundreds of eyewitnesses account, but there's almost nothing." he said pointing at his computer screen and you sat beside him.
"Whatever it is out there, no one's living to talk about it." You said looking at the list of victims.
"Wait Barr, Christopher Barr, where have I heard that name?" Dean said as he leaned down between you and same to look at the screen as well.
"Oh the girl you were flirting with a few hours ago. Her surname was Barr too." You said and Sam clicked on the article and a picture of wet Lucas wrapped in a blanket came up. "Yup. He was Andrea's husband, Lucas' father." Sam says making Dean stand up and walk back.
"Apparently, he took Lucas out swimming, 'Lucas was on the floating wooden platform when Chris drowned. 2 hours before the kid got rescued.'" Sam read the article when clicked on the picture.
"Maybe we do have a eyewitness after all. No wonder that kid was so freaked out. Watching one of your parents dies isn't something you just get over." you said looking away as the flashes of your Dead mother came in front of your eyes. You close your eyes for a second waiting for the images to go away. You felt a hand on your shoulder and looked up to see Dean.
"You ok?" He asked and you nodded with a small smile. "So Andrea said she was going to take Lucas to the park, so I say we go to the nearest park from the police station." You said quickly getting up and wearing your jacket and boots again. The brothers eyes followed your movements. "Guys I'm fine, let's go." You says walking out of the room not daring to look at any of their eyes.
"She's been through a lot." Dean said after the girl walked out of the room. "First her mom died in front of her eyes and a few years later her dad. And then her best friend." He added after a pause.
"No wonder she is so scared to lose Bobby or anyone else." Sam said. They both got up and followed her.

Dead In The Water (Part 2)

"can we join you?" Sam asked Andrea as the three of you approached her. she was sitting at the park watching her son as he sat few feets away, colouring something.
"I am here with my son."she replied smiling and Dean looked over to him. "Oh.. mind if I say hi?" Dean asked and walked over to him without waiting for reply.
"tell your friend, this whole Jerry Maguire thing is not gonna work on me." Andrea said as you and Sam sat beside her on the park bench. "I don't think that's what this is about."you said trying not to sound jealous or rude.
"How is it going?" Dean asked the boy an kneeled in front of him but he didn't say anything, just kept colouring like he wasn't even there. "Oh, I used to love these things." Dean said picking up one of the green little army men toys. He starts imitating noises to grab Lucas' attention but it was no use.
"So, crayon is more your thing?" still nothing, he just kept colouring. "That's cool. Chicks dig artists. Hey, these are pretty good." Dean said looking at his drawings. "You mind if I sit and draw with you for a while? I'm not so bad myself." Dean grabbed a crayon and sat on the bench and started drawing. "You know, I'm thinking you can hear me. You just don't want to talk. I don't know exactly what happened to your dad... But I know it was something real bad, I think I know how you feel. When I was your age, I saw something. Maybe you don't think anyone will listen to you or...or believe you. I want you to know that I will."
You watched from the distance as Dean tried to talk with the kid. It automatically brought a smile on your face. Somehow you knew exactly what he was saying to Lucas. At some point you stopped listening to Andrea, you had no idea what she was saying. your whole attention was on the green eyed hunter who was now sitting on a park bench and colouring with a 6 years old. You rolled your eyes when his eyes met yours and he winked at you. You looked back at Andrea and tried not to look back at him.
"Lucas hasn't said a word, not even to me. Not since.... His dad's accident." your attention was on Andrea and you started to listen again as Dean walked up to the three of you.
"Yeah, we heard. Sorry." He said.
"What are the doctors saying?" Sam asked.
"That it's a kind of post-traumatic stress." Andrea said. You could remember similar thing happening to you after your mom passed away. You could relate with Lucas and so could Dean.
"That can't be easy for either of you."
"We moved in with my dad. He helps out a lot, it's just.. when I think about what Lucas went through, what he saw."
"Kids are strong, you will be surprised by what they can deal with." You said breaking your silence.
"Hey Sweetie..." Andrea said when Lucas walked up to you and handed Dean a drawing sheet. "Thanks Lucas." Dean said and you leaned in to look at the drawing and then he walked back again.
"I think we should head back. Thanks for your time."Sam said and you made your way back to the motel.
"I'm gonna go grab some lunch, you guys want something?" Sam asked. "Yeah.....lunch." you answered and he rolled his eyes before separating his away from you two. It was a bit of awkward silence between you and Dean when you entered the motel room.
"So? You're not gonna call James Dean?" Dean said sitting on one of the beds and you sat on the other.
"it's not even close to 6 yet, don't wanna look too desperate. Besides what's it to you?" You asked putting a hand under your chin and resting it on your knee.
"What? You're my friend right? I mean friends share things right?" He looked like he was trying to convince himself more than he was trying to convince you. "Yeah, I guess." You said with a smirk and lay down on the bed, not even bothering to take off your boots. "You know what? I think I'm gonna call him once it is done." You lied waiting for Dean's reaction and you could literally feel him getting pissed off. You tried to control your giggle. If you were honest, it was really flattering that it bothered him so much. "Yeah whatever." He mumbled a reply.
"So, I think it's safe to say we can rule out Nessie." you heard Sam as he walked inside the motel room making you sit up with a frown. "What do you mean?" You asked.
"I just drove past the Carlton house. There was an ambulance there. Will Carlton is dead." Sam replied looking at you and then at his brother.
"He drowned?" Dean question with and raised eyebrow. "Yep. In the sink."
"What the hell?" You mumbled but loud enough for them to hear. "So this isn't a creature, we are dealing with something else." you added. "Yeah but what?"Sam asked.
"A water wraith maybe? Some kind of demon? I mean, something that controls water." Said Dean and it hit you in the head.
"Water that comes from the same source. The lake." You said making both the brothers look at you. "Which would explain why it's upping the body count. Lake's draining, it will be dry in a few months. Whatever this thing is, whatever it wants... It's running out of time." you added.
"And if it can get through the pipes, it can get to anyone, almost anywhere, this is gonna happen again soon." Dean said getting up.
"And we know one other thing for sure, it has got something to do with Bill Carlton." You said.
"Yeah it took both his kids." Dean said and continued wearing his shoes.
"And I've been asking around, Lucas' dad, Chris, Bill Carlton's godson." Said Sam.
"Then let's go pay Mr. Carlton a visit." Dean said getting up and you followed him to the car.
The whole ride you spent talking about the possible outcomes of what it could be, and all three of you agreed on one thing, vengeful spirit. You came up with it and you were pretty sure that you are right but you couldn't explain why would a vengeful spirit want to hurt the whole Carlton family.
When you finally pulled up at Carlton house bill Carlton was sitting on the same spot as last time and the three of you walked up to him.
"Mr. Carlton?" you said in a soft voice when you reached him and he looked up at you. "We would like to ask you few questions if you don't mind." said Sam.
"We are from the department of-" Dean started but he was cut off by Bill.
"I don't care who you are with. I've answered enough questions today." Bill said not looking away from the lake.
"your son said he saw something in the lake. What about you? You ever see anything out there?" You asked but he didn't answer so you continued. "Mr. Carlton, Sophie's drowning and Will's death, we think there might be a connection to you, your family."
"My children are gone. It's... It's worse than dying." His voice broke and his eyes filled with tears. None of you could understand how he must have felt at the moment. "Go away... Please." He said and the three of you turned around to leave him alone and walked back to the Impala.
"What do you think?" Sam asked as you approach the car.
"I think the poor guy's been through hell. I also think he is not telling us something." Dean said. While they were busy talking you're glanced at the house carefully.
"What is it?" Sam asked you and you ignored him. "Dean can I look at that drawing Lucas made you." you said not looking away from the house and Dean handed you the paper.
"Huh, maybe Bill's not the only one who know something." you said opening the folded paper, staring back at you was the six year old kid version of Carlton house. Both of them seem to understand what you're talking about.
"We gotta talk to the kid." Dean said getting inside the car, and you and Sam followed. You arrived at the sheriff Devin's house and knocked on the door. Andrea was the one who opened up. She looked a bit confused to see you guys.
"we need to talk to Lucas about the drownings." You blurted out when Dean was about to say something and he gave you a little glare.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think it's a good time."Andrea said.
"Just for a few minutes." Dean pleaded.
"he won't say anything. What good it's gonna do?" She protested.
"Andrea, we think more people might get hurt, we think something's happening out there." Sam said.
"My husband, and the others, They just drowned. That's all." She stuck to her point.
"if that's what you really believe, then we will go. But if you think there's even a possibility that something else can be going on here, please let me talk to your son." Dean said and Andrea look down nodding her head to the direction of her son's room.
"Thanks, come on Alex." Dean said and walked toward his room. "Wait, me? No I can't." You let out a small nervous laugh.
"Yes you. Look we've both been through this." He pulled you to a side. "And besides I don't know how to talk to kids." He said.
"Yes you do. You did great in the park and you love kids remember." You said and he glared at you. "And Dean we'll probably scare him if we gang up on him. Go, you got this." You said and he nodded then you pushed him inside Lucas' room and walked back to Sam and Andrea. Lucas was sitting on the floor and colouring and dean bend down to his height. "You know, I wanted to thank you for the last drawing. But the thing is, I need your help again." He pulled out the drawing Lucas made him before and put it down in front of him.
"How did you know to draw this?" Dean asked and Lucas kept colouring. "did you know something bad was gonna happen? Maybe you could nod yes or no for me." Dean said but there was no reaction from the boy.
"You are scared." He finally stated. "it's ok, I understand see, when I was your age I saw something real bad happen to my mom. And I was scared to. I didn't feel like talking just like you.. but, see, my mum, I know she wanted me to be brave, I think about that every day. And I do my best to be brave, and maybe your dad.. wants you to be brave, too." Dean said and your heart broke for little 4 year old Dean being scared and alone.Lucas finally put down his colours and looked up at is mother, then he picked up another picture and handed it to Dean. "Thanks Lucas." Dean said and got up.
when you got back in the impala, Sam was looking at the picture Lucas drew and Dean was driving. "Andrea said that the kid never drew like that till his dad died." He says over the music.
"there are cases, going through a, traumatic experience would make certain people more sensitive to premonitions, psychic tendencies." Dean explained.
"whatever is there, what if Lucas is tapping into it somehow? It's only a matter of time before somebody else drowns. So if you get a better lead, please." Dean said and you raised your eyebrow at his behaviour.
"Sam can I see the picture." You said and he handed it to you and sat sideways on his seat so he could see both you and Dean. "I think I've seen this somewhere, we have to find this house." you said.
"Oh, well the problem is, there's about thousand yellow two stories in this County alone." Dean said.
"You see this Church? I bet there's less than a thousand of those around here." You sassed back.
"Oh College girl, thinks she is so smart." He said making the two of chuckle.
"Or maybe you are just really slow." You said making Sam laugh harder.
"You know, what you said about mom." Sam said after a pause and you slipped down further into your seat. 'again with the uncomfortable family topic.' you thought but didn't say anything. "You never told me that before." Sam continued.
"It's no big deal." there was a little awkward silence before he broke it. "Oh God, we're not gonna have to hug or anything are we?" Sam chuckled at his brother and you sigh, happy that the uncomfortable conversation was end.
He pulled up in front of a white Church and all three of you got out of the Impala. You looked at the church and then at the drawing. there was a yellow House across the street similar to the one in the drawing.
"Maybe it's his house." You said pointing at the little boy in the drawing standing beside a small red bicycle.
"Well, there's only one way to find out." Sam said making his way to the house, you and Dean followed him. Sam knocked on the door and an old lady opened up. "We are sorry to bother you, ma'am, but does a little boy live here by any chance. He might wear a blue ball cap, has a red bicycle." Dean asked.
"No, sir." She was not lying but she immediately started to become paranoid. "Not for a very long time." Her voice broke and you gave her a confused look. "Peter's been gone 35 years now." She said and led you inside the house. She stood in front of a picture of a young boy. "The police never...I never had any idea what happened. He just disappeared." You looked around the house and your eyes fell upon the set of tiny green army man. You nudged the boys and nodded at the table where the set was.
"You know... It's... It's worse than dying." Mrs. Sweeney said and a tear visually rolled down her eyes.
"did he disappear from here? I mean, from this house?" Dean asked.
"He was supposed to ride his bike straight home after school and he never showed up." She broke down a little and you stepped forward in order to give her comfort. You were short but she was even shorter than you. You put your hands on her shoulder as to calm her down, not knowing what to say. Your eyes fell on a picture stuck to the mirror behind her and you took it. You turned it and the back of it said. "Peter Sweeney and Bill Carlton, 1970." You put it inside your pocket before Mrs. Sweeney could notice.
The three of you decided to drive back to the Carlton's house to confront Bill Carlton. "They were childhood friends " Sam said starting at the picture you gave to him.
"Ok, this little boy Peter Sweeney vanishes and this is all connected to Bill Carlton somehow." You said.
"Yeah Bill sure as hell seems to be hiding something."
"And Bill, the people he loves, they are all getting punished."
"So what if Bill did something to Peter?"
"What if Bill killed him?" You wondered out loud.
"Peter's spirit would be furious. It'd want revenge, it's possible." Dean agreed.
"See. I told you it was probably a vengeful spirit." You exclaimed and hit the back of Dean's shoulder. "OW." He exclaimed.
"Oh my god, did I hurt you little girl?" You asked in a monotone.
"Alex, you probably don't know this but for a little creature like yourself, you hit quite hard." He said as he pulled up at the Carlton's house.
"Mr. Carlton." Sam called out as the three of you made your way around the house and toward the lake. "Hey check it out " Dean pointed toward the lake and you saw Bill in a speed boat going further into the lake. You guys ran as quick as you can and made your way to the dock.
"Mr. Carlton, you need to come back." You yelled while waving your hands in the air.
"Come out of the water!"
"Turn the boat around!" Dean yelled but he kept going. Suddenly the boat was flipped in the air by an invisible force and as soon as it hit the water, both the boat and Bill both vanished.
"Call 911." You said and Sam was immediately on his phone. The cops came 10 minutes later and you guys decided to stay there and give your statements.
"Oh You guys are coming with me." Jake stated when you started toward the Impala. You decided not to argue and go with him.
When you entered the precinct Andrea's voice rang in your ear. "Alex? Sam, Dean. I didn't expect to see you here." She stood up and handed something to Lucas.
"So now you are on a first name basis." Jake said before turning to his daughter. "What are you doing here?"
"I brought you dinner."
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I don't really have the time." He told her.
You frowned at the Look on Lucas's face. No one noticed it but he looked a little panicked. "I heard about Bill Carlton. Is it true? Is something going on with the lake?" You heard Andrea ask her father and your attention was back at them.
"Right now we don't know what the truth is but I think it might be better if you and Lucas went home."
Suddenly Lucas started whimpering as he stood up and and started pulling in Dean's hand. "Lucas, hey, what is it?* Dean asked bending down to his height but Lucas kept whimpering. Andrea was by his side in an instant. "Lucas, it's okay, it's okay. Hey, it's okay." Dean said and the boy calmed down a little.
Andrea lead her son out of the precinct but he kept looking back at Dean. Jake frustrating banged his cap on the door and went inside his office.
Dean was staring at where Andrea and Lucas went. You grabbed his hand and he instantly looked down at you. You give it a gentle squeeze and smiled at him reassuringly. Letting him know that the three of you will solve the case, for Lucas, for the 4 year old Dean.

Skin (Part 3)
Season One. Episode Seven.
Hook Man (Part 1)

You walked over to Dean handling three coffees in your hands. Dean was sitting with Sam’s laptop in front of him, Sam was over the phone booth talking to someone. You were glad that the cafe had tables out in the open, You definitely needed some fresh air right now. You sat down on the chair beside him, Dean took advantage of Sam not looking at you guys and kissed you for a brief second. You smiled into the kiss but pulled away quickly.
“What ya got?” You asked sipping your sweet coffee.
“Wait for Sam.” He replied.
You bit your lips and said “Hey, by the way about last night.” You were so hoping you wouldn’t have to bring it up but you knew had to at some point.
Flashback
You walked out of the bathroom in your panties and your t-shirt when you heard a knock on your motel room door. A big smile crept on your face as you already knew who it was.
“Hey.” You said with a jaw hurting grin as you opened up the door. His bright green eyes looked down at your face with a smile that match yours.
“God, I missed you.” He said walking inside your room and kissing you sweetly, You giggled against his lips.
“You just saw me a few hours ago.” You said and led him to the bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled you between his legs. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he wrapped his around your waist as he looked up at you. You were stroking the back of his neck, playing with the little hairs there. He pressed his lips to your abdomen before looking back up at you and saying
“Have I ever told you how gorgeous you are?” He asked playfully, making you blush. He looks so handsome with that little smirk of his, where he shows his teeth and dimples. Sometimes you wonder how’d you become so lucky.
“Only a couple hundred times, although I do think that you exaggerate a little.”
“No I don’t. But I do think that god exaggerated a bit when he made you. No one should be allowed to look that beautiful.”
“Here you go again.” You giggled. He always made you feel like you were the only girl in this world.
“No seriously. Why don’t you believe me?” He said as he cupped the back of you bare thighs and pulled you in so you were straddling him, your knees on each side of his hips.
“Is this okay?” He asked, making sure you are not uncomfortable in this position.
“It’s perfect.” with that you smashed your lips on his. At first it was very sweet and slow and then it got heated.
He ran his tongue on your lower lip and you granted him access. His hand ran all over your body over your t-shirt. You pushed his jacket down his shoulder and threw it somewhere in the room, not breaking the kiss. The next was his t shirt which followed the jacket. You pulled away for a second, admiring his bare chest.
You bit your lips as your hands roamed his bare body. He was so sexy, you were pretty sure you were soaking your panties.
“You’re so handsome, Dean.” You leaned forward and started kissing across his chest. You trailed kisses up to his neck. He let out a moan when you ran your warm tongue on the spot just bellow his ear. You smirked as you figured out that must be his soft spot. You kept kissing and sucking there for a few second, you loved the impact you had on him. How he was so tough around everyone but as soon as you are alone with him he turns putty in your hand just by a little gesture.
You giggled as he squeezed your hips hard. You could feel his jeans tightening beneath you. “Someone’s excited.” You commented with a smirk as you looked down at his boner.
“Can you blame me?” he asked and you shook your head before kissing him again. This kiss was even more passionate. You held the bottom of your t shirt and and pulled it over your body.
He sucked in a sharp breath when he saw the black lace covering your chest. You let out a moan as he leaned forward and trailed kisses down the valley of your breast. You hand went to his hair, pushing his head closer to your breast.
He captured your lips again before turning you both around quickly so you were underneath him. A small laugh escaped you at his sudden moment. His right hand which was not holding him up traveled up your thigh an as soon as it touched your covered core you subconsciously pushed him away. It brought back flashbacks.
The push was so hard that he almost fell of the bed.
“Oh my god. I’m so sorry.” You apologized crawling up to him. “I don’t know what came over me, I’m so sorry.......I thought.....I thought it was someone else.”
“Hey, hey, its OK. We’re not gonna do anything until you’re completely comfortable OK.” He said cupping your face.
“I was just..”
“Shhh...you don’t have to explain anything. Just go to sleep OK? I’ll be in our room.”
“No.....sleep here. Please. I sleep better when you are beside me.”
Then the two of you went to sleep in each others arms
End of flashback.
“Hey, I told you, you don’t have to explain anything.” He said putting his hand over yours.
“No, I need you to know this....I do not feel uncomfortable with you, not at all. I promise. Its just what happened back in...”
“St. Louise?”
“Yeah, and I swear I knew that thing wasn’t you..”
“But it had my face.” He completed your sentence again. “I get it, Alex. I really do. And we will not do anything unless you are hundred percent sure about it OK?” You didn’t tell him that the shifter brought back memories, bad memories that you were trying so hard to bury in the back of your head. You smiled and kissed the back of his hand right before Sam turned around and started walking toward you guys. You withdraw your hands from Dean’s grip and took another sip of your coffee.
“Your half-caff double vanilla latte is getting cold over here, Francis.” Dean said to his brother trying to lighten up the mood.
“Bite me.” Sam replied as he sat on the chair beside you.
“So anything?” You asked curiously.
“I had them check the FBI’s missing-person data-bank. No John does fitting that description. I even ran his plates for traffic violations.” Sam said, he sounded pissed off.
“Sam, I’m telling you, I don’t think dad wants to be found. Check this out. News out of plains courier Ankeny, Iowa something about 100 miles from here.” Dean said turning the laptop toward you and Sam. Thank god Dean got a case you were itching to hunt something.
“Mutilated body was found near the victim’s car parked on 9 mile road.” You read the news from laptop.
“Keep reading.” Dean said.
“Authorities are unable to provide a realistic description of the killer. The sole eyewitness, whose name has been withheld is quoted as saying that the attacker was invisible.” You read out. It could be anything, maybe the witness knew the killer and is trying to protect ‘em or maybe they’re too freaked out.
“Could be something interesting.” Dean said.
“Or could be nothing at all. One freaked out witness who didn’t see anything does’t mean its the invisible man.” Sam said and you nodded your head agreeing with him.
“But what if it is? Dad would check it out.” You shook your head at Dean, you and him both knew that would get Sam. So before you knew it the three of you were sitting in the impala as Dean drove toward the frat house the victim lived in.
As soon as Dean pulled in front of the frat house you groaned. “Why are we here again?” You asked looking at Dean through rear view.
“The victim lived here.” Dean replied.
“You guys go in I’m sitting in the car.”
“Come on, Alex. Don’t leave me alone with this guy.” Sam groaned.
“Sam, its a frat house, I’m not in the mood of dealing with a bunch of horny college boys.” You said and Sam pouted but understood your reason. You sat and watched the brothers as they make their way toward the boys. They stopped working on the car and one of them rolled out from under the car. You couldn’t hear what they were talking about but it was sure as hell interesting to watch.
Sam looked back at you with pleading eyes and you sighed before getting out of the Impala. You were getting bored anyway.
“Hey, babe.” You said as you walked over to him and Sam smiled, you intertwined your fingers with his. “I’m Alex, Sam’s girlfriend.” You said and Dean raised his eyebrow at you. You had no intention of making Dean jealous or anything, its just that Sam was closer to your age so it seemed more believable.
All of their eyes were on you as you smiled brightly like a dumb person. “You know girls can’t live here right?” The one with the glasses said with a slight frown. He seemed unaffected by your charm which surprised you a little.
“Oh yeah I know, I’m gonna live at the sorority house, I was just accompanying them. But I’m not gonna lie, I’m gonna be here a lot.” You said keeping your face on the one wearing red jacket. He was staring at you like he has never seen a girl before.
“You guys can get in.” He said instantly earning a eye roll from Dean.
“What are you doing?” The one with glasses scolded him.
“What are you doing? She’s crazy hot.” He whispered to his friend then smiled at you before leading the three of you inside.
“That’s gonna be your room.” He pointed at a door which said purple man. A guy was standing in front of the mirror painting himself purple. Dean knocked on the door and he turned around.
“Who are you?” He asked.
“We’re your new roommates.” Dean replied as he got in the room
“Can you do me a favor? Get my back? Big game today.” The purple guy said as he painted his own stomach. Dean pointed to Sam and said, “He’s the artist, the things he can do with a brush.” Sam glared at Dean but took the brush anyway to help him, aww what a good guy. That was the first time he noticed you and his eyes widen. He covered both of his nipples with his hands and said “What is she doing here? Girls are not allowed.” He asked the brothers. You scoffed at his bad attempt of covering himself and walked to the couch to sit beside Dean.
“Don’t worry she’s not gonna stay here, she’s my girlfriend. She was just helping us look for the frat house.” Sam said and you didn’t miss the way Dean glared at his brother.
“She’s your girlfriend?” He asked and Sam nodded. “By choice?” He asked again, earning a glare from Sam and a chuckle from Dean. “She’s way out of your league, man.” He stated bluntly before turning your back on him. Sam kept glaring at him but painted his back anyway.
“That’s what I keep telling him...... Anyway, Merf, is it true?” Dean asked grabbing a magazine from table.
“We heard one of the guys around here got killed last week.” Dean said like it was a normal thing. The look on purple guy’s face suddenly changed to a more serious one.
“Yeah.” He replied softly.
“What happened?” Sam asked.
“They’re saying some psycho with a knife, Maybe a drifter passing through, Rich was a good guy.” He said.
“Rich was with somebody?” You asked this time.
“Not just somebody, Lori Sorenson.” He said like it was a very big deal and you raised an eyebrow.
“Who’s Lori Sorenson?..... You missed a spot down in the back.” Dean said the last part to Sam, earning a glare from him as you tried to hide your smile at your boyfriend’s antiques.
“Lori’s a freshman, she’s a local.... Super hot...and get this she’s the reverend’s daughter.” He said and the last part peeked your interest.
“You wouldn’t happen to know which church would ya?” You asked and he told you the church’s name.
In less than ten minutes the three of you were in front of the church. “Its been too long since I’ve been to a church....Is god gonna repel me?” You wondered out loud making Sam chuckle. “God doesn’t repel anyone, Alex.”
“You do’t know. I’m one of his unfavourites.” You tried to joke as you made your way to the front gate but it only made both of them frown.
“What made you say that, sweetheart?” Dean asked as they walked up to you.
“Nothing. I’m stupid, please ignore me.” You said opening the door, as soon as you stepped inside you felt a weird energy wave past you. Like something was trying to push you out, like something was actually repelling you. You try to shrug it off but as you got further inside the feeling got stronger.
As Sam got inside after you and Dean the door slammed loudly behind him making the whole church to look back at the three of you. You and Dean turned to glare at the culprit who looked at you and whispered ‘sorry.’
Your eyes kept looking around the church and it fell on a girl sitting on the front bench and you assumed it was Lori. The reverend kept speaking. As the three of you sat on a bench the feeling got even stronger. You couldn’t shake it off anymore. It was like something strong was squeezing your lungs, telling you to get out of here with its action.
Sam nudged you once everyone started praying but your eyes were focused on the reverend, the way he looked at you, like he knew something was wrong with you. “What happened?” Sam asked and you shook your head and whispered “I’ll meet you guys outside.” You got up and rushed out of the church.
The boys looked at you as you left and then at each other with a frown. “What’s wrong?” asked Dean and Sam just shrugged.
As soon as you came out of the church the feeling went away. “What was that?” You asked to no one in particular. It has happened to you before but it wasn’t that strong back then. You rarely ever go to church but when you do this happens. It just never had happen this strongly before. You use to shrug it off as nausea, but what happened in there it was definitely not just nausea. Something was definitely trying to repel you.
“What is wrong with me?” You whispered to yourself
Less than five minutes later the church door opened and people started coming out. You smiled as you saw the brothers walking out as well. As soon as they saw you they walked over to you.
“Hey, what happened in there?” Dean asked with a concerned look on his face.
“Nothing, I just don’t do very well with prayers.” You joked with a half ass chuckle neither of them were laughing. “Hey, I think that’s Lori. We should talk to her.” You said changing the subject pointing toward the girl who was sitting in the church. You walked over to before either of them could say anything.
“Hey, you’re Lori?” You asked and she turned around with a smile. “Ya.”
“My name is Alex, these are my friends Sam and Dean.” You said pointing at the brothers who were right behind you. “We just transferred here to the university.” You added.
“I saw you inside.” She nodded her head and you let the boys do the rest of the talking.
“We don’t wanna to say how sorry we were.” Dean said.
“I kinda know what you’re going through.” while they were talking your eyes fell over to reverend. He was looking at you like he was trying to figure you out as he talked to some other people. Even though there was a smile on his face the look in his eyes was mocking you.
You looked down at your feet, almost as if you were ashamed for invading the the church. The reverend walked over to the four of you, his eyes never leaving you.
“Hey, Dad. This is Alex, Sam and, Dean. They’re new students.” Lori introduced the three of you to her father and that was the only time his eyes left you.
“Pleasure to meet you, sir, I must say that was an inspiring ceremony.” Dean said and shook the reverends hands. He smiled at both the boys and didn’t look at you.
“Thank you very much, its so nice to find young people who are open to the Lord’s message.”
“Listen, we are new in town actually.” Dean said grabbing your hand and gesturing the reverend to walk with him, obviously trying to give Sam some time to talk to Lori alone. “We are looking for a church crew.”
You were completely lost in your own thoughts as Dean talked to the reverend.
“Thank you so much, sir.” Dean said and nudged your side and you nodded at the reverend with a smile. As the two of you turned to walk back to the car the reverend spoke up again, “Alex, that’s your name right? Can I talk to you for a minute?”
”Yeah sure. Dean, go ahead I’ll meet you by the car.” You told your boyfriend and he walked away after giving you a assuring smile.
“Yes, sir?” You asked politely as you turned back to Mr. Sorenson.
“Back there at the, you were struggling with something, and then you ran out.”
“Oh that was nothing, I was getting a little nauseated.” You answered with a smile.
“Hmm.... You know I have a friend, he’s a priest. He say’s that every negative power weakens as they enter the holy ground of a church, they are positive power. And some would even say.....’they feel nauseated’.” He said and you looked at him with a slight shocked look on your face. What was he trying to say exactly?
“I’m sorry, what is that supposed to mean?” You asked, the smile washed away from your face.
“Why don’t you ask yourself?” He asked.
“You know what, sir? I think you skipped science class in high school. According to science opposites attract.” You said, a little bit angry at him for being so blunt even though you knew he was just telling the truth.
“Maybe, but according to god, a negative power should not be allowed to enter his holy house, he likes to keep the pollution out.” with that being said he walked away. You clenched your jaw to try and keep the tears in as you walked to the car where both Sam and Dean were waiting for you.
“What’d he want?” Dean asked as soon as you reached them.
“Nothing, he was just asking if I was OK? He saw me practically running out of the church.” You said.
“Are you?” Sam asked.
“Huh?”
“Are you Ok? You’re acting weird ever since we got to the church.”
“Yeah, I’m completely fine. Why don’t we go to the library and check out on the lore, huh? Like we always do.” You said getting inside the backseat of the Impala. Sam and Dean gave each other a look before following your lead and getting in the car. The whole ride you didn’t look up at the rear view mirror, knowing that Dean will see something in your eyes if you do.
Sam told the two of you about his conversation with Lori, You tried to divert your mind away from what the reverend had said for the sake of the case. You could worry about yourself later, this was more important than you.
“So you believe her?” You asked as the three of you walked in the library.
“I do.” Sam said.
“Yeah I think she’s hot too.” Dean said and you ignored his comment.
“No, man, there’s something in her eyes. And listen to this, she heard scratching on the roof and found the bloody body suspended upside down over the car.” Sam explained as you came to a stop between two shelves.
“Bloody body suspended? That sounds like-”
“The Hookman legend.” You completed Dean’s sentence.
“That’s one of the most famous urban legends. You guys don’t think that we are dealing with the hookman?” Dean asked, a little too excited for a person who’s solving murders.
“Every urban legend has a source, a place where it all began.” You said trying to be included more in the hunt so your mind wouldn’t wander back to the events that took place today.
“Yeah but what about the phantom scratches and the tire punctures and the invisible killer?” asked Dean.
“Maybe the hookman isn’t a man at all. What if its some kind of spirit?” Sam suggested and you could see the wheels in Dean’s mind running already.
He asked a lady worker in the library to provide you guys old arrest records. You sat in one of the tables and waited for her.
“Here you go arrest records going back to 1851.” the librarian said placing two cartons of arrest records on the table and you smiled at her and said “Thanks.” As she walked away Dean turn his head to check her out but your mind was too busy to even get upset about it.
“So this is how you guys spent your time in college huh?” Dean asked as you cleaned the dust from the top of the cartons with your hands.
“Welcome to higher education.” You said opening the boxes.
You sat there and went through the arrest records for what felt like hours. Hours of absolutely nothing when suddenly your eyes fell on something. “Hey, check this out.” You said and both the boys looked over to you. “1862, a preacher named Jacob Karns was arrested for murder.” You read out loud both the brother walked over to where you were standing. “He was so angry over the red light district in town that one night he killed thirteen prostitutes.” You read out the next part “Right here, some of the deceased were found in there beds, sheets soaked with blood others suspended upside down from limbs of the tree as a warning against sins of the flesh.” You read the rest of the article as Dean took out one of the pages from between the record.
“Get this, the murder weapon? Looks like the preacher lost his hand in an accident, had it replaced with a silver hook.” Dean showed you the picture of the murder weapon.
“Look where all this happened, 9 mile road.” Sam said.
“Same place where the frat boy was killed.” You replied.
“Nice job, Dr. Venkman.” Dean said and ruffled your hair, making you roll your eyes. “Let’s check it out.” The three of you walked out of the library. Finally you could take your mind off of today morning.
When you walked outside you were surprised to see it was dark already. “God, how long have we been in that library?” You asked as you stretched yourself. The hem of your shirt rid up and you saw how Dean’s eyes lingered on the exposed skin for a little while making you smirk.
The three of you got in the car and decided to start with 9 mile road so Dean drove up to there.
Dean stopped the car in the middle of the bushes and you got out. Dean opened the trunk and pulled out a shotgun, handing it to Sam. You pouted when he didn’t gave one to you.
“If it is a spirit buckshot won’t do much good.” Sam said
“Yeah, rock salt.” He handed Sam shotgun shells filled with salt.
“Salt’s a spirit deterrent.” You said as Sammy loaded his gun.
“Yeah, it won’t kill them but it will slow them down.” Dean said and closed the trunk.
“That’s pretty good, You and dad think of it.” Sam asked as the two of you followed Dean to the direction where the dead body was found.
“I told you, you don’t have to be college graduates to be genius.” Dean said making you smile. You stopped in your tracks when you heard wood creaking. Sam pulled up his gun and pointed toward the sound. “Over there, over there.” Dean pointed to a bush which was ahead of you.
“You could hear footsteps approaching and then a voice said. “Put the gun down, Now! Now!, put your hands behind your head.” A cop walked out of the bush and you rolled your eyes before putting your hands up.
“Wait, wait, okay, okay.” Dean said as the three of you got down on your knees. “Now get down on your bellies, come on do it.” Both the boys did as he said but you kept glaring at him. “You too, little girl. Get down on your belly.” You were thinking of the ways you could take him out but before you could make a move Sam grabbed your shirt and pulled you down.
“He had the gun.” Dean yelled as the three of you lied down on your bellies.
The sheriff arrested Sam and you and Dean followed them in the Impala. You and Dean sat in the car outside of the sheriff’s department. You felt bad for Sam as he had to spend the night at the lock up.
“We really can’t do anything before morning?” You asked for the third time as Dean pulled you in his lap in the front seat. “He has to spent the night in the lock up?” You asked with a pout and Dean nodded again before kissing it.
You put your head on his chest as your finger played with his jacket.
“So you wanna talk about this morning?” He asked as his fingers subconsciously made patterns on your bare waist under your shirt.
“What about this morning?” You asked innocently although you knew exactly what he was talking about.
“Why did you totally freak out in the church?” He asked and started inching your skin slightly, you yelped when he accidentally pinched a little bit too hard “Sorry.”
“I don’t know why you worry so much, Dean. It was nothing OK? I promise.”
“Then why’d you run out like that?” He asked and you sat up straight.
“I was just feeling a little nau- light headed.” You changed your word remembering your conversation with the reverend. “I promise, babe. It was nothing.” You lied and cupped his face.
“You would tell me if anything weird happens Right?” He asked, deciding not to press over the subject.
“Yes, I will now can we just make out?” You asked.
“Absolutely.” He answered and crashed his lips on yours.

“Night Sammy, Night y/n” a young Dean states from his mother’s arm. Mary gently lowers her older son, allowing him to kiss his younger sibling’s goodnight. Mary smiles, her eyes lighting up with the love she holds for her three children, looking over her shoulder she spots her husband, John, and smiles. John flips of the light, whispering to his youngest children “If you two sleep through the night, you can have Dean’s room”, Mary chuckles overhearing her husband before tucking Dean into bed and placing a kiss on his temple, “Good night love” she softly whispers, a smile on her face.
A few hours later, Mary awakes with a start. The twins screaming coming through the baby monitor kept next to her on the bedside table next to her and John’s wedding photo. Mary sits up, sleep still embracing her, touching the mattress next to her she can’t find her husband, smiling when she realises her husband is looking after the youngest children. She pads her way down the corridor rubbing sleep out her eyes, pushing the twin’s door open. She smiles as she spots John’s figure over Sam’s crib. “John?” She questions “Are they hungry?”. There’s no response, apart from a quick and sudden shhh. Mary rolls her eyes at her husbands antics, taking a step back and turning around heading back to her warm bed. Reaching the bedroom, she soon realises that there is a light, a slight glimmer coming from downstairs. She’s cautious. Bare feet shuffling down the stairs, before turning the corner, a movie is playing out on the Tv lighting up the sitting room; and sat in front of the tv asleep, slumped over in his chair is John.
Fear! It’s all she can feel as Mary blurts out “Oh my god” before bolting up the stairs back up to the twin’s room. She bursts the door open, the door bouncing on its hinges swinging roughly, urgently flicking the switch, the brightness blinding her slightly before her eyes adjust. Whatever is in the room scares her, the colour drains out of Mary’s face. She starts panicking, hyperventilating.
“…Get away from them…” She all but whispers, before letting out a blood curdling scream which wakes up the rest of the house. John shoots up with a start, running to Sam and y/n’s room. “Mary?” he questions, his wife no longer in sight. The babies are crying, bawling struggling to calm down, but they’re ok, and he lets out a sigh of relief. Gently stroking y/n cheek, he checks them over before checking over Sam. They settle a little, and John smiles, turning to search for Mary. But something catches him. Somethings not right. John turns back into the room, a drop of blood now staining the bottom sheet of the crib the two siblings share.
Drip.
Another drop of blood, quickly followed by another. John realises that the droplets are falling from above, he angles his neck upwards, shear terror shivering its way down his spine. Mary. She’s splayed out, her eyes wide and staring, almost glass like.
“No… oh my god no…” He croaked. He stands frozen, as a sizzling noise overwhelms his senses, the smell of smoke as small black lines spiderweb across the ceiling. The lines connect, spelling out three words. Coming for you. Before suddenly igniting, engulfing the walls and Mary.
The fire alarms blare, beeping fast, high pitch. Y/n and Sam start to fuss again, the noise hurting their ears.
“Mummy? Daddy” a scared voice questions from the hallway, John snaps out of it, grabbing Sam and y/n, swinging the door open, he looks at Dean.
“No Dean, don’t look, okay? We gotta go.” He assured his young son, leading Dean down the stairs and out the front door, holding onto his youngest offspring. It’s not long until the fire fighters arrive. The family are sat on the hood of a car, Dean tucked up into his father’s side, he holds y/n tentatively, John holds Sam in one arm, slowly rocking his young son, while wrapping his arm around Dean. The house burns into the night, reds, yellows, and oranges fill the night sky. Dean turns and hides his face in his fathers’ side, John’s eyes harden, his jaw clenched. No more apple pie life.
---
23 years later.
Sam had moved to Stanford, you’d gone to visit him once or twice, though the distance between Kansas and California made it more difficult. Though you made sure to at least text your twin brother once a week. He had a girlfriend now, you had only met her once, but she was sweet.
About a week ago, Dean turned up at your front door. “Dad’s missing” he yelled as he strolled right through the front door. “Thanks for knocking” you reply, eyes rolling back at your older brothers’ antics. “Dad’s missing” he repeats.
“So what? Dad disappears all the time. We have our own cases to be working on Dean.” You say, walking into the kitchen, setting about moving a couple of dirty dishes into the sink. “y/n!” Dean shouts, “Would I be here if I wasn’t worried?” He had a point, Dean and you were close, closer since Sammy had left for the apple pie life. The two of you staying as hunters, helping John out on a few cases here and there, but mainly soloing it. “Let’s go find dad” you respond, staring into the green eyes of your older brother. ‘Where are you dad?’
Baby’s engine purrs, before Dean turns the key, the headlights switching off. Its peaceful, yet eery. You and Dean climb out the car and gather a few things before walking towards the apartment building. “It’s that one” you whisper, pointing out the window of the apartment your twin lives in, Dean looks at you, “Are you sure?” He murmurs. “Positive” you nod your head back at him.
“Well here goes nothing” Dean says, wrapping a small piece of cloth around his knuckles, before punching the window. It doesn’t take much for the window to shatter. “Thought it would take more effort that that” Dean mentions, turning to look over his shoulder at you, before slowly climbing through to avoid the smashed glass, you slink in, following closely behind. The apartment is dark, but it doesn’t take long for Dean to find the kitchen. “Want a beer while we wait?” He questions, his face illuminated by the small fridge light. Before you get the opportunity to answer, the door swings open, Sam armed ready to attack, you and Dean dodging just in time.
“Easy tiger. Just looking for a beer” Dean jokes with his younger brother.
“Dean?” Sam questions, eyes widening. The both of them ignoring your presence.
“Heya Sammy” Dean smirks, “How are things? Enjoying law school?”
“You scared the crap out of me!” Sam barked, before suddenly spotting your figure. “y/n? You… I though better of you” he sighs dejectedly.
“Sam, we’ve gotta talk” you butt into the conversation, pointing at yourself and then the two boys.
Out of nowhere, a soft tired voice enters the conversation. “Sam?” Jessica asks, eyes adjusting to the two other figures in her kitchen. She’s dressed in a smurf t-shirt, and short shorts. You smile, she’s just as you remember. Dean smiles mischievously, “I love the smurfs”, you stare at your older brother, before sharply elbowing him in the ribs, he hisses taking in a deep breath.
“Jess, hey sorry to wake you” Sam mutters, turning around to look at his girlfriend. “This is… well this is y/n, but you already knew that” you smile and wave at her, the recognition flashes across her face, out of the corner of your eyes you can feel Dean staring at you. Sam continues “Ummm, and this is… well this is Dean”
“Your brother Dean?” Jess questions, a confused look on her face.
“Sammy” you interject “We’ve gotta talk”
“Well, whatever you two need to say, you can say in front of her.” You frown, last thing you had known, Sam had never told Jess anything about your lives, about the creatures that go bump in the dark.
“Dad hasn’t been home in a week” Dean explained, his face hardening with a seriousness.
“So, he’s working overtime on a Miller Time shift. He’ll stumble back sooner or later.” Sam answers quickly, his brain not fully processing the extent of Dean’s sentence.
“No Sam.” You added, “Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a week.” Your twins eyes widen, the mutual understanding between the three siblings that this conversation has to be silent.
“Jess. Excuse us. I need to talk to these two outside” Sam mutters to his girlfriend, before turning around and walking to the door with Dean, Jess stands there, confused. You look at her and smile slightly, mouthing a quick ‘sorry’ before running of to catch up with the rest of your family.
You walk in silence, towards baby, Dean lifting the boot. “He left his journal?” Sam’s eyebrows scrunch up in concern, “Tell me everything.”
It takes awhile to explain what has happened, but soon Sam is caught up. The two of them getting into an argument not long after. “Shut up!” You shout, “Now is not the time.” The boys whip their heads round, staring at you. “They have a point” Dean says, nodding in your direction.
“Look. Dad will be okay. He’ll be home in a few days. You’ll see.” Sam sighs accepting that the argument has been lost.
“He’s in real trouble if he’s not dead already. I can feel it, and I know you can too.” Dean responses, Sam deflates, you can see the worry in your twins’ eyes. You know deep down he cares.
“So, the only question is: you coming with us or not?” You prod, Sam’s eyes fill with flickering emotions, before he finally gives in. “Fine, as long as I’m back by Monday. I have an interview for law school.”
After packing, and saying goodbye to Jess, the three of you head to baby, Sam throwing his duffle in the boot, before climbing into the passenger seat. “Oi! I sit there” You protested, “y/n” Sam growls “It’s 3am, you come into my apartment, convince me to leave my girlfriend for a few days. I don’t see your name on it; therefore, I’m sitting here!” He argued before climbing in and slamming the door, Dean getting behind the drivers’ seat not long after. “Hey! Get in!” Dean shouts, head hanging out of the window, rolling your eyes at the two boys, you huffily clamber into the back of the car.
You’d been in the car for a couple hours, baby’s engine producing a gentle purring, though it’s drowned out by the sound of Deans music blasting over the speakers. “What was he hunting?” Sam asks. “Not sure” You respond, passing a sign that reads ‘Welcome to Sanger, California, U.S.A. America’s Christmas Tree City.’ For such a happy sign, there was an ungodly number of missing posters stapled to the bottom of it, of course Dad chose a place like this you thought.
You zone back in, Sam explaining that there have been no reports of Dad at any hotels or bars. Leaning forward, in between the two front seats you pipe in “I think if we wanna find Dad, we gotta find out what the hell’s happening around here.”
Eventually, you find dad’s room, its covered in pins and string connecting newspaper articles and missing photos. Dean sniffs a burger, before pulling a disgusted face “Dad’s not been here in a few days” he looks over his shoulder, you and Sam are staring at a particular newspaper article. “Dean” you call out tentatively, reaching out and pulling the newspaper off the wall, the small pin ripping the paper where it had been attached. Dean walks over to get a better look at what you’ve been looking at. “He found the same news article” Sam confirms, “What are we dealing with then?” Dean questions, he’s getting agitated, you can tell from the way he’s moving around the room. “He answered that as well” Sam responds, pointing at a sticky note in the jumble of papers and string. “A woman in white” You whisper in recognition.
“All right, so if we’re dealing with a woman in white, Dead would have found the corpse and destroyed it” Dean questions, looking at you and Sam.
“Well, she could have other weaknesses” you suggest. The boys look at you and nod in agreement.
“Think we need to question the husband” Sam admits “That’s what dad would do.”
“If he’s still alive” Deans butts in. “Anyway, I’m starving! Want anything from down the street?” Sam and you just shake your heads no. “Oh well, your loss” Dean mutters turning around, and walking out the front door.
“We need to find the husbands address” you say to Sam, leaning over his shoulder and peering at his phone in his hand, you see that it’s on the voicemail screen, Jess’ name visible. “She’ll be ok, Sammy” His head turns slowly to look at you, brown eyes wide and innocent. He blinks slowly, snapping out of whatever thoughts were going through his head. “I’ll find the addre..” He starts answering your earlier statement, when suddenly your phone starts ringing, Deans name flashing across the screen.
“Dean?”
“Dude, five-oh, take-off” He responds quickly, words spilling out of his mouth like vomit.
“What about you?” you probe. “Uh, they kinda spotted me. Go find Dad.” The line goes dead, eyes wide you turn to Sam, who has already started opening the bathroom window. “Come on y/n!” He snapped, you hurry over quickly, rolling out into the bushes behind the motel just as the front door is broken in.
Once you had escaped, you and Sam had decided to follow up on the only lead you have, Constance’s husband. The both of you trudge up to the rickety house, a chain link covering the grimy glass window. Sam knocks on the door, an old man opens it, a puzzled look crossing his face.
“Have you seen this man?” You hold up the photo of your father, recognitions flickers through the old man’s tired eyes. “Yeah, he was here three or four days, ago. Said he was a reporter” He’s hesitant, you can tell that he’s already suspicious. Sam decides to take control of the conversation, it doesn’t last long but you get all the information you need. Thanking the man, you turn around, walking back over to where baby was abandoned.
“So, Dad was here” you state, looking at your taller twin brother.
“And he” Sam moves his head back, directing your attention to the old man watching the two of you out the window “committed adultery.” He pauses, sighing before continuing “We’re definitely dealing with a woman in white. Though our main problem now is figuring out how to get Dean back”.
“Leave that to me” you pull out your phone, dialling 911. “H-hi” you fake stutter, pretending to be in distress. “There’s gunfire, I’m on Whiteford road.”
“There that should work” you smile, shutting your phone and stuffing it into your pocket, Sam is staring eyes wide.
“What?!” you glare at him.
“H-how?”
“You learn these things when your brother leaves, and Dad expects you to fill his place”
---
At Constance’s house
“Well, that was a job well done” you smile, walking backwards, your brothers walking behind you.
“Saved your lives” Dean chortled, throwing open Baby’s door, and climbing in.
---
You’d been on the road for about half an hour, Sam was looking up the message Dad had left Dean. Highway to hell playing over the speakers. It was peaceful. It felt nice, you had missed being the trio, you had missed your twin brother, but you knew he would be leaving soon. Dejectedly you let out a sign, breath steaming up the window.
“It’s called Blackwater Ridge, Colorado” Sam jabs his finger at the map, pointing out the area that was in the middle of nowhere.
“Sounds. Charming” You mutter, rolling your eyes. The boys ignore your sarcastic comment, Dean looks over at Sam, “How far?”
“Six hundred miles” Sam replies, you sink down further into the seat, the soft leather moulding around your body.
“Dean” Sam uttered.
“You’re not going?” Dean gruffly responds, turning Baby around, heading back to Stanford.
---
You swap seats, sitting back in the passenger seat, Sam leaning through the window. “Keep me updated, yeah?” He smiles sadly, stepping back away from the car, and Baby’s engine roars to life. You watch him through the wing mirror, he’s stood in the same place, watching as you and Dean disappear. A single tear dribbles down your face. Dean glances over at you, reaching out he places his hand on top of yours. Dean has always said ‘no chick flick moments’, but he’s always had a soft spot for you. He comforted you as a baby, after your first break up, when Dad hurt you, when Sam left. Sam might be your twin, but Deans always had a soft spot for you.
A chill goes down your spine.
“Dean?” you look at him, your eyes wide, silently asking all you needed to ask.
“You felt that too?” He stares at you, the same scared yet puzzled look across his face. Suddenly he throws Baby around, travelling back to Sam’s apartment. “Somethings not right”.
As you pull up to Sam’s building, the windows are glowing, orange and red. Flames starting to lick around the top of the windows. Nightmares from when you were little flashing through your eyes, you can remember when Dad had told you what had happened that night, and now it was happening all over again. Silent tears had started to pour down your face.
“Sam!!!” You wail, opening the car door, darting towards the building as fast as your legs allowed you, Dean already ahead of you, feet ponding kicking up dust and sand from the gravel. “Sam!” you continue bawling. Dean slams his way into the bedroom, yellow and oranges tongues of fire reaching down almost lapping at your skin. Dean grabs Sam, pushing him out of the room, his wails of anguish as Jess burns ripples through your body.
“Jess! NO! Jess!” Sam weeps, as Dean continues pushing him out of the burning building. Your heartaches, maybe its because you’re seeing your brother hurt, maybe it’s a twin thing, but you swear that you feel Sam’s hurt, the pangs of guilt that ricochet through his body affecting you too.
It doesn’t take long for the fire truck to arrive, you hug your brothers close to you, glad that they are ok. Dean separates from the hug, staring at the burnt building, before walking behind Baby, opening the boot. You hear the familiar click of the shotgun being loaded. Sam starts walking over to Dean, you trail behind. Sam’s face is dark, covered in desperate anger. Sam looks over at you then at Dean, you hear him exhale, as he tosses the shotgun in the boot “we’ve got work to do” he hisses before slamming the boot shut.

Now
Since leaving Sam’s burnt apartment and most importantly his dead girlfriend. Sam had been incredibly quiet, though with the gentle humming of the engine it hadn’t taken your twin too long to fall asleep in the passenger seat. You didn’t argue this time about the passenger seat being your seat, he’d been through a lot the past few days, (more than most go through in their entire lives), and you really didn’t want to start an argument that you knew would result in your head being bitten off by your slightly grumpy, taller lanky brother.
It had been a few hours since Sam had fallen asleep, Dean tapping his fingers on the steering wheel driving to the co-ordinates left by Dad in his journal, 35-111; blackwater ridge. When you had left originally, you had roughly 600 miles of rugged road and classic rock music to travel. By now you were about half-way, 300 miles left. The journey so far, hadn’t been so bad, the three of you had all been quiet, wrapped up in your own heads, Dean’s music playing through the speakers, apart from that the car was silent, well apart from Sam’s snorts. The last 100 miles or so, you had been staring out the window at the shrubbery passing by, though you could feel your eyelids getting heavy, lulling you to sleep. Well, that was until Sam suddenly jerked awake, a little squeal passing his lips before he started gasping for air.
“Are you alright?” you hear Dean’s gruff voice cut through the music, the first time he had spoken in a few hours, well apart from his singing, though you’re not sure if you’d really count it as singing. Your watching the two of them, through the reflection on the window, you notice Sam glancing over at your older brother, before he turns to look out the window, like you had been doing moments earlier.
“I’m fine” He responds dully, voice monotone, yet laced with a tiny hint of fear and a whole lot of guilt; it didn’t take a genius to figure out why he felt guilty either.
“Another nightmare?” You decide to dig, dig with Sam, dig him out of the depressive hole he’ll eventually find himself drowning in if he doesn’t talk. Sam doesn’t react, through you lean forward, between the front two seats; Dean catching your eye and glaring at you in the ‘big brother is taking charge; sort of way, when he notices you font have a seat belt on. Sam never answers you, but everyone in the car knows it was a nightmare, and everyone in the car knows that it in some way involves Jess.
“Do you wanna drive?” Dean joins in the digging, the pushing, the pulling. If one of you was going down into the dark hole, the rest might as well follow. Yet, before Sam can even answer, you’re jumping at Dean’s question, asking him to pull over and let you be in control. Sam laughs, it’s a deep guttural laugh, but its natural and happy sounding, and the tension in the car starts to dissipate slightly.
You realise that you’re getting nowhere, so settle back against the window, where you can watch the boys through the reflection. “Dean, not once have you ever asked me that!” you notice Sam’s eyes widen in surprise.
“Just though you might want to. Never mind” Dean responds, never taking his eyes of the road, his fingers start drumming on the steering wheel again. Of course, offering up baby was his way of helping make amends and although Sam never acknowledged Dean’s effort, you knew he was happy that the two of you were trying to cheer him up.
“Look, I appreciate that both of you are worried about me, but I’m okay, really” Sam smiles at the two of you, a slightly pink hint on his cheeks. It doesn’t matter though, seeing a small smile on his face means that tensions have fully disappeared, just like the eggshells you wanted to walk on completely vanished.
The three of you fell back into comfortable silence afterwards.
About half an hour later you heard the two boys muttering. “Maybe we shouldn’t have left Stanford so soon?” Sam frets, Dean glimpses over at Sam, confusion and slight annoyance sketched across his face.
“Sam, we dug around there for a week. We came up with nothing. If you wanna find the thing that killed Jessica-“
Sam quickly interjects “We gotta find Dad first.”
---
An hour or two later, you spot a sign that reads ‘Welcome to lost creek, Colorado, National Forest’ Dean drives to the ranger hut for blackwater ridge, putting Baby in park, before the three of you clamber out the car. The boys do so rather elegantly, unfortunately for you, your legs had gone numb, and as soon as you stepped out the car, your foot gave way, making you face plant the floor. It took a few minutes for your brothers to stop laughing, before Dean offered a hand to help you up, though you ignored it out of stubbornness and pushed yourself up before brushing the dust off of your jeans. Muttering a quick “Ughh, I um. I meant to do that.” Which just left the boys in more laughter.
Inside the ranger’s hut it was dark, but the different woods melded together to give a warm inviting feeling.
“You three aren’t planning on going to blackwater ridge, are you?” A deep voiced asked, turning around you spotted a man, he must have been late 60s, his skin had winkles showing signs of a life well lived, but you could tell he had the eyes of a young soul, someone who hadn’t finished living yet. Dean gave a sheepish smile at the man, hand rubbing the back of his neck; Sam interjecting quickly before Dean fucks something up. He makes up a quick excuse saying “Oh, no sir. We’re environmental study majors, just working on a paper” before the three of you made yourselves suspicious.
“Bull.” Said the ranger gruffly, looking between the three of you, not believing the excuse Sam had managed to whip up on the spot. The ranger continued, in the same gruff voice as before “Your friends with that Haley girl, right?”
“Yes” you answer hesitantly, eyes flicking to the boys, praying that this time ranger Wilkinson doesn’t suspect anything. Thankfully he takes the bait. “Well, I will tell you exactly what we told her.” He states, looking between the three of you “Her brother filled out a backcountry permit saying he wouldn’t be back from Blackwater until the twenty-fourth, so it’s not exactly a missing persons case. You tell that girl to quit worrying, I’m sure her brother’s just fine.” He finishes pointedly.
“We will.” Dean responds, “Well that Haley girl’s quite a pistol huh” He chortles. “Actually, you know what would help is if I could show her a copy of that backcountry permit. You know, so she could see her brother’s return date.”
Ranger Wilkinson eyes all of you, he’s starting to suspect you all over again, yet he still goes to get the backcountry permit.
---
It doesn’t take long for you to arrive outside of Haley’s house, Dean going ahead walking past the white picket fence, and up the porch steps, raising a fist he bangs on the door. A few seconds later a girl answers, not opening the screen. She has medium brown wavy hair, and a small slim face, Dean smiles at her “You must be Hayley Collins” he states “this is Sam and y/n. We’re ugh, rangers from the park service. Ranger Wilkinson asked us to come over, we have a few questions.”
“Show me some ID” She peers at the drivers license Dean shows her through the screen, though he doesn’t give her much time to scrutinise it, considering the fake ID reads ‘Samuel Cole’. She nods still hesitant, opening the screen door.
“Come on in”, she mutters stepping out of the way, Dean steps through the threshold first followed quickly by Sam, just as you’re about to cross into the house Haley pipes up “That yours?” She nods her head towards the Impala. ‘Ahh she’s a car girl’ you think to yourself ‘Dean will like her then’ you laugh to yourself, getting funny looks from those around you.
Once in the house, Haley leads the three of you to the kitchen, its décor is slightly outdated, with white wood and a big oval table in the middle, and unknown male is sat at the table on their laptop. “Ben” Hayley starts “this is Dean, Sam and y/n, they’re rangers” Ben glances up slightly, but he’s quiet, definitely the observant type, more like Sam then Dean, a think first and do it later kinda person, rather than a rush in and think later person.
“So, if Tommy’s not back, how do you know somethings wrong?” You question the girl, Hayley leaves the room, returning with a bowl which she places on the table. “He checks in everyday” she says solemnly.
“Maybe he was having too much fun and forgot” Dean suggested, with a little shrug of his shoulders. “He wouldn’t do that” Ben pipes up, Dean looks at him, really looks at him, as if he has x ray vision and can see into his soul.
Hayley snaps Dean out of his staring contest with Ben, pulling his attention to her. “Our parents are gone. It’s just my two brothers and me. We all keep pretty close tabs on each other.”
“Can I see the pictures he sent you?” Sam asks, Hayley nods grabbing her laptop. For the next half an hour or so Hayley shows the three of you the pictures and videos that Tommy sends the family each evening, he seems happy, enjoying himself the bond between siblings evident in the way they look out for each other. In ways you wish your family had the same dynamic but that would never happen, you didn’t have the normal apple pie life and the only reason you were all in contact was because the man who raised you had vanished.
---
After you left Hayley’s and Sam had gotten the pictures and videos emailed to him, you all settled in at the local pub. It felt normal, people were playing pool in the corner cheering, a couple where having a chat and then there were the few drunk people in the back.
“So, Blackwater Ridge doesn’t get a lot of traffic” Sam starts a conversation on the case “But still this past April, two hikers went missing. They were never found.” Dean pulls out Dad’s journal placing the leather book on the table with a thud.
“Any others before that?” Dean questions. When it comes to cases, Dean becomes serious, unlike his normal jokey, flirty self. Reaching across the table you open Dad’s journal flicking through it as the boys continue, Sam pulls out a couple of newspapers, pointing at the dates as he reads them out loud, “Yeah, in 1982, authorities said it was a grizzly attack.”
“We all know that’s bullshit” you mutter, the boys snap their heads looking in your direction. “What?!” You question “It’s been happening every twenty-three years, unless a bear now keeps a calendar, I don’t think the disappearances ‘are just a grizzly” you lift your hands, in the air, wiggling your fingers up and down making air quotes.
Sam pulls out his laptop, pulling up Tom’s video, “exactly y/n, I re-checked out the video footage again. Look” he points at the screen, a shadow quickly darts across the screen, the outline visible through the tent.
“Do it again” Dean demands, Sam shows the video again, slowing it down frame by frame. “It’s three frames” you utter.
“Exactly! That’s a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move” Sam responded.
“Told you it’s not a grizzly” you stick your tongue out childishly, laughing as Dean smacks you round the back of the head.
“One more thing” Sam mentions, shutting his laptop and reaching for another newspaper clipping. “In ‘fifty-nine’ one camper survived this ‘grizzly’” Sam turned and looked at you before you said anything, giving you a glare. “As I was saying, one camper survived this ‘grizzly’ attack. Just a kid. Barely crawled out alive.”
---
After finding out who was attacked, you decided questioning him would give you the best chance of figuring out what was going on. The old man looked tired, his pale skin sickly and winkled.
“Look, ranger…ugh rangers” He corrected himself “I don’t know why you’re asking me, it’s public record. A grizzly attack.”
“The other people that went missing, those bear attacks too?” Dean digs, trying to find out more, the three of you knowing that the old man is not telling the full truth. The old man takes a puff of his cigarette, he’s stalling, thinking, trying to figure out how to answer. Dean doesn’t stop, doesn’t give him time to answer “What about all the people that went missing this year? Same thing?”
The old man still doesn’t answer. Dean keeps pressing “If we knew what we were dealing with, we might be able to stop it.” The man finally responds, “I seriously doubt that, and you wouldn’t believe me.”
“Mr. Shaw, what did you see?” Sam questions, leaning forward in his seat. You could tell the old man was about to spill everything you needed for the case.
“Nothing. It moved to fast to see. It hid too well. I heard it, though. A roar, like no man or animal I ever heard” His eyes are glassy, you guess that flashbacks are playing through his head, it must be difficult, remembering everything. “Why it left me alive I don’t know” He dips his head sadly, “did leave me this, though” He pulls back the collar of his shirt, three big scars are scratched across his chest, claw marks. He looks at the three of you before uttering his last words “there’s something evil in those woods. It was some sort of demon.”
---
You arrived back at the motel after visiting the pub, the boys heading back earlier then you. You needed the space, as much as you loved them, it has been hard spending so much time around them recently. Dean normally only ever contacted you if he needed help on a case, and well Dad always made Dean relay his messages. Sam, well although he’s your twin and you did keep in contact, since he met Jess, he started responding less and less, you were thinking of giving up, going no contact. Well, that was until Dean rushed back into your life. You just didn’t want to get to close to them again, get used to them being in your life, to have to be back on your own, hunting things.
Opening the door to the hotel room, you saw the boys, they were still working. “Spirits and demons don’t have to unlock doors” Dean began.
“So, it’s probably something else, something corporeal” Sam counters.
“Corporeal? Excuse me professor”
“Shut up.” Having enough of their argument, you decided to weigh in, although a lot was going on in your head, you were still trying to figure out what in the hell you could be possibly hunting. “The speed that it moves… could be a skin walker, maybe a black dog. Whatever it is, it’s not a grizzly and it’s a creature. Which means we can kill it”
---
Pulling up in the impala, Dean climbed out first, and argument already stirring between the two brothers. “We can’t let her come Dean” Sam snapped. Hayley had arranged a tour, her and Ben adventuring into Blackwater Ridge to find their brother. Dean wanted to crash it; Sam wanted to stop it.
“You guys got room for three more?” Dean yelled, a smug grin across his face, once he spotted Hayley wearing a pair of tight ass-hugging shorts. Of course, he’s thinking with his dick, you roll your eyes. After the introductions, Roy (the tour guide) storms ahead, talking about his hunting escapades and how he’s hunted buck’s and bears. If only he knew.
Dean starts to get cocky “Tell me, Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?” Roy suddenly grabs Dean, tugging him back. “Whatcha doing, Roy?” Roy still silent, picks up a stick and pokes at the ground, a bear trap suddenly springs to life. Roy smirks “You should watch where you’re going. Ranger.”
The boy’s storm on ahead. You stay back with Hayley, keeping an eye on the back of the pack, protect them from all angles. “You didn’t pack any provisions. You guys are carrying a duffle bag. You’re not rangers.” She reaches out and grabs your arm, halting you, the others too far ahead to care.
“Who the Hell are you?” Hayley interrogates.
“We’re siblings” you sigh. “Deans the eldest, Sam is my twin. Our Dad went missing, we’re looking for him too.”
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” Hayley exhales.
“We’ve been through some shit… Look it’s best not to get on with it. Let’s catch up with the others.” You end the conversation. From up ahead you hear Roy shout “Hayley over here.”
She darts off, you check the surroundings before running off after her, it doesn’t take long for you to realise why he shouted. The little camp site having been discovered, destroyed, bloody and clawed. “Definitely a grizzly” Roy states. You roll your eyes hard, Dean and Sam giving you a poignant stare, taking the hint you keep your mouth shut.
“HELP!” A yell echoes around the woods.
“Tommy!” Hayley yells back taking off in the direction the voice was heard. The rest of you following, but the three of you hang back a little, inspecting the area outside of prying eyes not in the hunting business.
“Boys” You whisper-shout drawing the attention of your two brothers, who were discussing what could have destroyed the tents. “The bodies were dragged from the campsite. But here” you walk forward and stop point at the ground, “The tracks just vanish.”
“That’s weird” Sam mutters, walking forward and bending down to inspect the drag marks closer.
“I’ll tell you what, that’s no Skinwalker” Dean states stepping forward towards the forest where the drag mark disappeared. “Which means” you continue “It’s also not a black dog”.
“Just what are we dealing with?” Dean questioned as you started to return to the camp, Tommy’s voice had faded and Hayley, Ben and Roy had decided to go back to camp for the night. Everyone walked in silence, just the crunching of sticks and dry leaves could be heard.
“Wait!” Hayley shouts, “Where’s our packs?” She swings around, staring at all of you, glaring even. “Is this some kind of practical joke” She continues, throwing her arms up in the air, exasperated.
“Do you really think we’d do this?” You growled, stepping towards her, pushing your face into hers. You’d had enough, this was dangerous, Dad was missing and now strangers with no idea of the supernatural are getting mixed up into the wrong things. Your tether had snapped. “This is fucking serious! Your brother is missing, or even dead. Sam with our dad. Maybe you were the one to hide everything!”
“Y/N!!” Dean roars, separating the two of you, before one of you kills the other. Though Dean has bets on who would win that one, and everyone knows Winchesters always win. “Enough. We need to stick together, not chew each other out” Sam cuts in. You knew they were right, but that didn’t mean that you were now going to be all pally with Hayley now.
“It’s smart. It wants to cut us off, so we can’t call for help.” Sam mentions after tensions ease, and everyone has their heads screwed on properly. “Wait. You mean someone, some nutjob out there stole our gear?” Roy questioned, confused but also frustrated in his mind they were still hunting a bear. “Maybe.” You mutter, trying to distract. You knew you really needed to talk to your brothers, see dads journal. But Sam, like always beat you to it, looking between you and Dean before saying everything he needed to with his eyes.
The three of you split off from the other three, not too far away to be suspicious, but far enough away to not be overheard. Dean passes your twin the journal, and it doesn’t take long for Sam to flick to a specific page, it’s got dads messy writing scribbled all over it and a first-nations style drawing, it almost looks like a scary stick figure.
“Oh, come on, wendigos are in the Minnesota woods or, or Northern Michigan” Dean almost laughs at the suggestion of one being found in the far west of the states.
“Think about it, Dean” Sam rolls his eyes at your older brother. “It can mimic a human voice, its fast, and smart”
“Great” You and Dean sigh at the same time before pulling out your pistols which were hidden across your person. “This is useless then!” Dean huffs
---
It doesn’t take long for night fall to fall over the camp. Hayley and Ben are sat around the campfire, watching the embers dance within the smoke, before fizzling out. The heat the camp radiated was needed, the nights air cooled quickly and with supplies having been taken earlier the fire was much needed. Hayley prods at the fire, watching Dean work his magic, he was using a big branch, disturbing the mud around the site, creating symbols. You could see the questioning look in Hayley’s eyes and figure now was a better time then never to be civil (especially after earlier).
“Anasazi symbols” You muttered, watching the flames light up the small area of forest before the vast darkness that surrounded you. Out of the corner of your eye you noticed Hayley, Ben and Roy, look over at you, curious gazes, eyebrows raising slightly. “Its for protection. The wendigo can’t cross over them”
Roy’s face slips from curious to a smirk, before his body starts shaking with laughter, his white teeth showing as he bends over, gun slung over his shoulder in fits of hysterics. He sarcastically wipes at his eyes. Though he shuts up quickly when Dean shouts over that nobody likes a sceptic.
Dean had finished drawing the symbols, all of you apart from Sam standing by the fire, Sam was stood outside the camp staring into the distance. It was silent, too silent. There was no sound, no wind, no trees talking, no animals. No nothing. Just silence, until a twig snaps; breaking the eeriness.
“Help me! Please!” A voice echoes throughout the trees. Sam’s head whips round, and it doesn’t take long before he’s joined the rest of you within the circle. “Help!” The voice echoes again, Dean’s face goes expressionless, hand on his gun. Sam grabs a torch and illuminates the darkness slightly.
“He’s trying to draw us out. Just stay cool, stay put.” Dean was using his stern voice, his big brother you’re in a lot of shit voice you ended up on the receiving end of a lot as a kid.
“Stay inside the magic circle” Roy barks. It’s not long until a growling sound is heard close to the camp, Roy points his gun randomly and shoots at it. “That’s no grizzly” He mutters, realisation finally hitting him. The wendigo is mad, infuriated even. It rushes around the camp site; Hayley starts to scream. Roy randomly shoots towards the rustling, again and again and again. “I hit it!” He shouts, jumping slightly on the balls of his feet, rushing forward to go and investigate what he had hit.
“Roy! No” You shout, darting after him, you can hear Dean behind you saying, “Don’t move” and its not long before your brothers also take off after Roy.
“It’s over here! It’s in the tree” Roy yells over before the wendigo reaches down and snaps his neck. It happens within the blink of an eye, one second Roy is standing there and the next his limp, dead body drops lifeless to the floor. You dart back to the safety of the camp, where Ben and Hayley stay, wide eyed in horror.
“So, we have a better chance in the daylight” You mention looking a the five of you sitting around the campfire. Sam leans forward, opening dad’s journal showing the two siblings sat opposite. Dean carefully explains the backstory, what a wendigo is, how its formed and many other questions that were running through their heads. By the end of the explanation the fire had started to dwindle, flames becoming smaller and smaller, and the five of you decided to call it a night.
---
The crisp morning air was a nice invitation, it woke up the senses, made you feel refreshed, and it was exactly what you needed on a day of a hunt. The five of you had left the safety of the camp about ten minutes ago, Dean marching on ahead, fresh leaves crunching beneath boots, the sounds of animals and birds making the forest come to life.
“Guys” you call, looking over your shoulder at the others.
“What is it?” Dean calls back, even though he’s started trudging over the rugged terrain of tree roots towards you. Then they see the reason why you called them over, the blood claw marks were everywhere, every tree had them, the animals got quieter, the forest going silent, just like the night before.
“You know, I was thinking, those claw prints, so clear and distinct. They were almost too easy to follow.” Sam mentions, stepping forward running his hand over the broken bark. Nearly as soon as Sam finishes his sentence, the trees surrounding all of you start shaking, and a deep guttural growling gets louder and louder. Everyone reacts automatically, sprinting off in different directions, you end up with Dean and Hayley, when you run into the wendigo. Hayley’s screams being the last thing you remember.
---
You groan and open your eyes, the area you’re in is dark, your arms are tied above you, you feel sore and tired, nowhere near awake as you were this morning. You saw Dean and Hayley slumped against the side of the structure you were being kept in; Ben crouched in front of Hayley. To your left, you saw your twin, knife in hand cutting through your restraints. It wasn’t long before you were let down and were leaning against the cool wall.
“Hey, you okay?” Sam questions the both of you, Dean moves slightly a small wince passing his lips, you just nod, looking at Sam, eyes questioning him.
“He’s gone” Sam mutters answering your question without needing to be asked.
You watch as Hayley walks over to another person hanging, she slowly touches his cheek. “Tommy” She whispers. Tommy’s eyes jerk open, and Hayley lets out a shriek, before her brother gets cut down. “We’re gonna get you home” She whispers to him.
Behind in the corner, Dean had spotted the stolen supplies, pulling out a few flare guns, chucking a few to you and Sam. The five of you start limping down the tunnel. Until the creature decided to rear its nasty head.
“We’ll never outrun it!” Hayley yells panicked.
“Alright, you” He looks at Hayley and her brothers “Stay with Sam and y/n. They’ll keep you safe” Dean lifts his eyes between the Sam and yourself, nodding a confirmation of the plan.
“What about you?” Hayley’s voice quivers. Dean just smiles at her, sending a wink, before the four of you leave him behind. Even in the worst of times that man still thinks with his dick you sigh. As the four of you leave Dean behind you can hear him taunting the monster “Hey, you want some white meat, bitch! I’m right here!”
It doesn’t take long for the wendigo to find you. You push the three siblings in front of you as Sam shoots his flare towards the monster, he misses, the red flare bouncing off the wall. You continue running, the monster stalking you down the tunnel slowly, like a predator waiting for its prey.
“Get behind me!” Sam shouts, pushing you behind his body, you stumble, and Hayley catches you.
“Hey” Dean shouts behind the monster, it turns around. You take your chance at the same time as Dean, shooting your flare gun, hitting the monster. It bursts into flames. Dean walks over to the four of you, ruffling your hair as he goes past. “Not bad huh?” He questions a smirk falling over his lips.
---
Night-time has landed again, around the ranger station. Tommy has been piled in the ambulance that had arrived a few minutes ago, he’s sat on the back, legs hanging over the edge, a couple of paramedics fussing over him. Sam is off in the corner with Ben, the police are interviewing the two of them, the story is that a grizzly attacked the camp, and you guys went on a bear hunt.
You and Dean are stood near baby, having already been seen by paramedics, just a few scrapes here and there but nothing you couldn’t handle.
“So” Hayley starts, taking a small step towards the two of you. Though her eyes are focused on your older brother, and you can tell he’s intrigued, his green eyes following her every move. “I don’t know how to thank you.” Dean’s smile merges into a lascivious smirk, and you notice a small smile grace Hayley’s lips before she flirtatiously, looks up at him. “Must you cheapen the moment?”
Your brother’s smirk widens a laugh ripples through him. “Yeah” He smirks towards the girl. Hayley smiles at him, it’s like they’re in their own world, just the two of them, no one else. You notice Hayley lean in slight, before quickly pressing a kiss to Dean’s cheek; and you chuckle slightly when the two of them darken and flush red. Before she turns away, Hayley looks at you “I hope you find your father” She whispers quietly, whipping round joining Ben and Tommy in the ambulance, as Sam appears by your side.
It's peaceful between the three of you as the ambulance doors are shut, and the three siblings drive out of sight. “Man, I hate camping” Dean declared, Sam chortled before replying “me too”.
“Boys” you butt in, both men turning to look at you, sat in between them on the front of baby, “You know we’re gonna find Dad, right?”
“Yeah, we will” Dean smiles tightly, you can tell he doesn’t fully believe what he’s saying but you smile knowing that he’s trying.
“In the meantime, I’m driving!” Sam states, giving Dean a pointed glare. Dean tosses the keys over your head, Sam catching them as if it was the most natural thing possible. The three of you clamber into baby, Sam in the driver’s seat, Dean in the passenger and you in the back.
Let the journey begin!
