“I don't know what to do, Ma.” Clark spoke as he shook his head with a sigh. He felt lost in this situation.
“What's wrong, Clark?” Martha asked, coming up behind. Both watching out the window at the two teens in the front yard.
“y/n- she just is still so...distant.” he sighed. Would he change his decision on having adopted Y/n? No, never. But Clark did wish that she’d talk to him more. Open up about what’s on her mind and troubling her. “I don’t know what to do.”
Martha could hear how defeated her son was becoming over this. But he needed to give this all the time it needed. “You have to give her time, Clark.”
“Its been months mom.” Clark sighed, turning his head to look at her. Hoping she could give him more advice.
“Hunny, Y/n has been through a lot. You know that. It’s going to take longer than it did with Konner.” Martha started to rub her son’s back. Hoping to ease his growing concern. Clark cared for Y/n as if she was his own blood and DNA, if not more. She could see how much he worried about her not talking about what she’s been through when she was on the streets of Gotham. Alone.
Clark nodded in recognition of her words before pointing outside. “At least she seems to have opened up to him.”
Martha chuckled at the small twinge of jealousy she heard in her son’s voice. “They are only a year apart. In a way. Being closer in age helps. And being through similar things.”
“She’s my daughter I just want her to open up to me or at least let me be there for her.” he sighed feeling frustrated but also defeated. But he still had hope.
“She will. You don’t see how that young girl looks at you when you're not noticing. Give it time, Clark. Just give her time.” Martha had only the truth in her eyes, and she could see that hearing that had brought a lot more hope to her son. With that she left him to think on everything she had said to him.
