Gojo literally just listens to whatever songs are trending on TikTok. His entire musical taste is based off whatever is popular on social media and pretty much all of his videos on TikTok are just him mouthing the words to these popular songs, which you find pretty dumb but people like his content because he’s attractive. “Satoru! Can you please stop singing that song?” You stomp your foot in frustration as he sings the lyrics to the dumbest song you’ve heard all year. He chuckles and ignores your little tantrum, urging you to keep walking along with him. Gojo keeps singing along with even more dedication now that he knows he’s really pressing your buttons. “You're so skibidi!"
Suguru smirks at you when you accuse him of being an old soul or being left behind in the past when you find that all of his music consists of rock bands from the 70’s to the early 2000’s. “You should give them a listen sometime. You may be surprised to like them.” He tells you matter-of-factly and before you have the chance to let him know that you’ll be sticking to what you know when it comes to music, he’s already sending you links to albums of bands you’ve never heard of before. “Fine. I’ll give it a chance.” You smile, ready to tear him a new one if the bands he likes are no good. No such time ever occurs when you press play on the first song – falling in love before you can think of a snide remark.
Toji discovers Spotify when you keep pressuring him into listening to more music and ditching his outdated CDs for something much more convenient. Every once in a while, you ask him what he’s listening to and (since he’s still acquiring a music taste) his answer could range from a rap song to a jpop song. Who knows what he’s getting up to with the new world you’ve exposed him to. A gruff voice answers your question every time. “Fuck if I know.” And you’re pretty sure that he’s just playing random music when he opens the app, but you don’t bother to correct the older man.
Yuji loves resting his head on your chest as you lazily sing your favorite ballad songs into the air. The vibrations of your soft voice rumbling in your chest stimulate his soul and there’s something so motherly about the act of napping while you sing to him, as if you were whispering lullabies into his ears. Yuji doesn’t have a favorite music genre because your voice is his favorite thing to listen to. Your fingers card through his soft locks, soothing him to sleep and careful not to move when you hear soft snores coming from the sleeping boy.
Megumi really only listens to instrumental music, always something soft to relieve the tension he carries in his shoulders. He’s not really interested in listening to anything beyond that and you tend to respect that. You even go so far as to get into instrumental music just to have something in common with him. He never finds the gall to thank you for understanding him, but you know he appreciates that at least one of his friends is interested in whatever he is. He smiles when he sees the album cover for Himitsu by Lama House pop up on your phone and you don’t move a muscle to skip it, the delicate piano creeping its way out of your headphones.
Nobara's music taste is very telling as her Spotify wrapped exposes her for being a faithful member of the church of Hayley Kiyoko but, when you tell her that you also believe in the Lesbian Jesus, she’s a lot less defensive. You both agree that Panorama is her best album in addition to being the greatest masterpiece ever created. “But are you into Kehlani?” She asks, earning an excited squeal from you because of course you are!
Choso never leaves his house without headphones. He always keeps one little earphone in his ear, no matter where he is. He even carries a backup pair everywhere he goes just to ensure that he won’t have to be out in the world without a steady flow of his favorite artist’s music. Call it a combat for anxiety or something, if you want, but he worries that it makes him less approachable; but can’t bring himself to remove the headphones from himself. To him, the world gets a lot louder when he does. But when he finds out that you’re kind of the same way and you even like the same music as he does, he’s ecstatic. He gets excited when he learns that music is as big a part of your daily life as his. “You listen to Gorillaz?” His voice comes out meek and he’s not sure how you even hear the sentence but when you shoot him a blinding smile and nod your head, seeming to be just as excitable about your favorite band as he is – he can’t help but to pull up his playlist to see what else you might have in common.
