Alright here's the main character of Broken Cycles, Alessia Hughes.
She isn't the most confident person, but when the chips are down she'll take charge to protect her friends and ideals. She is flexible, almost to the point of being a doormat, and selfless, sacrificing everything to protect what is important.
As for her fighting abilities, even she doesn't know the full extent of what she can do, but she mainly uses her sollden (which I will explain soon, but basically magic soul weapon) as a pair of dual swords that can change size, though the bigger she goes the more stamina she loses. She also trained in a bit of hand to hand combat before training with dual swords.

Solldens:
What are they? Basically they are items possesed by warrior spirits. The item can be basically anything as long as it isn't alive (plant based items can sometimes count). These items will transform into weapons with magical properties, from launching explosions to releasing poisons.
How do you get them? It is a lot more complicated tha I'll say in this post, but in short, you draw a circle and surround the circle with items. Then you chant a bit and start a ritual. After a minute, you'll find out if you were succesful by seeing a spirit in front of you. Immediately that spirit will possess an item.
As for how Solldens came to be, that is a big part of the story, so I won't go into it. Still, tell me what you think!

Well anyway
Here is Ryder Colewood. He's the son of a pretty well known politician, and has decided to become a guardian. He can act pretty cocky and prideful, but he cares about his friends deep down. He isn't the best at fighting, but he has the tactical instincts to do alright in a fight.
As for his Sollden, it is a spear that can also operate as a lance. It's also explosive. Both ends can fire of explosives and the spear can launch parts of itself from the main weapon.

Nicholas "Nick" Smith
Well versed in the art of blacksmithing, Nick is often the voice of reason in the group, down to earth, snarky, and determined.
As for his Sollden, it is related to a different character, so I won't go into it in this post. Still, Nick has other weapons. He has two knives that can have poison infused blades. Also not seen here is a crossbow with a variety of elemental ammo.
