After over indulging myself in buddie/anti tommy content (as a treat) i truly believe that throughout 7x04 it's obvious Buck is pining for EDDIE'S attention - not Tommy's; and me believing in the hc that Buck is neurodivergent (cause same) - it is likely that Tommy kissing him and practically telling him that's what he wanted - Buck's nd brain was like 'huh maybe it was that' and so he believes it too ?
He is so flushed with emotions in this episode that using that as an explanation is easier than realising you felt that for your bestie.
