This isn't an ask but, lemme just say, I'm in love with your Eddie x Platonic!Experiment! Reader, because before I found it I had been searching for something like this for weeks, and then I come across this blog, when I tell you I SCREAMED. Words cannot describe how happy I was finding this, because I used to fantasize all day about a fic like this, and then I'd be so disappointed when I couldn't find anything relatively close to it. BUT WHEN I FOUND YOUR BLOG I WAS THRILLED! And I just wanna thank you for being such an amazing writer. And not only was it a Platonic fic, (I love Platonic fics so much) THE READER WAS A POC! I just cannot put into words how much happiness your blog brings me and how excited I get when I see a new chapter of the Eddie fic. So in conclusion thank you for being such an amazing writer, I literally feel like you brought me back to life, because without fics like this I was dying out here. Thank you for the happiness you bring me and many others.

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH wow ! that really means alot to me for so many reasons. 1. because i was looking for the same thing for a while as well, and when i realized there really wasn’t any i was like “oh, well i’ll just write it for myself” and then after i wrote it i was like, “well i guess i can post it”

2. that was my first time writing at all, and i was overthinking pretty much everything about it, so i’m SO happy that you liked it !

3. i’m so happy you like platonic readers too! also i understand the excitement for seeing x poc reader fics. as a poc, i’ve noticed such a LACK, in fics for us. and even though some non-poc writers try to write to be inclusive, sometimes they kind of slip up, and will put something in their content that alludes to not specifically a white reader, but usually a lighter toned reader. and honestly when i was writing i slipped up a few times as well, sometimes putting in words that would make someone visualize a black reader, and had to do some research. i originally was going to make it x black reader, but then i thought “well, even though there’s nothing wrong with that, i’d be more comfortable if any poc that comes across this story could read it and be able to visualize it as themselves.” 

but yeah, i certainly didn’t expect anyone to even read it at all, so the fact that i’ve gotten comments like this just makes my heart go 🤍😻🤍😻🤍😻🤍😻.

and i will now continue writing the season 3 chapter just for you because, this just gave me the motivation to continue that too!

I have two questions. Do you think writing fanfiction is the same as reading it? I ask because, I've been thinking about writing a fanfiction for a certain fandom that barely has any fics, but I'm hesitant because I'm very insecure about my writing style, and I just think that if I write it it will take the fun out of it because I would already know how it goes. And I'm also not confident in the way I portray personalities, sometimes I feel as if I'm not doing justice to the characters I write, which brings me to my second question, Do you have any tips for writing about existing characters and how to portray their personalities accurately?

That's really all I have to ask. I don't want to go on too long because I tend to ramble lol.

(Btw I'm in love with your fics and I'm super excited for the summer camp fic and I'm in love with the platonic eddie fic (I feel like platonic fics are way too underrated) )

hi ! honestly, i don’t really think writing fanfiction is the same thing as reading, because of exactly what you said about already knowing what’s going to happen!

but ! i alao don’t think that meansthat the fun is taken out of it. me for example, with my sev x platonic! eddie fic. even though i already know what’s going to happen, sometimes i just like to go back and read each chapter just for the fun of it.

their may even be times when you go back and read it, and think “wow, i thought / said that? i’m so funny 🌚” jkjk i’ve never done that 🫣

and about your hesitation for writing for a fandom with few fics, i say go for it! you never know if there are others looking for fics for that fandom, and only having a few to work with.

about you being insecure about your writing style, i completely understand. i was as well! my advice for that one may be to think of how you like to read others works and what about those writing styles makes you comfortable enough to read it.

and, before i continue, if you feel comfortable, you could send another anon, clearing up what you meant in the terms of your writing style specifically and what you don’t feel too comfortable about, or just message me privately!

but to continue, i think that if you have issues with your writing style, when writing for existing characters personalities accurately, i think that the type of pov you use is important.

for example :

1st person : “i , me , our , we” that’s telling the story from the reader’s perspective, as if they were the narrator. writing from that p.o.v can make it difficult to let the readers know how other characters are feeling/thinking, other than it being a guess because the reader doesn’t actually know. kind of like the show, euphoria and how rue isn’t a reliable narrator because all the information she gives the audience is based on things that she’s observed herself, but she doesn’t actually know what’s going on in other character’s heads.

2nd person and 3rd person : “you , your” & “she, her, him, he , they” that’s telling the story as the narrator, who in majority of cases, knows everything about everyone (because it’s the author) and what’s going on, beyond the characters knowledge. with 3rd person, i think it would be better to use when talking about the other characters, such as letting the audience know that character’s inner thoughts, without having them have to broadcast it out loud for it to be known. leaving it to be just between , that character, and the readers, which could possibly be used later on for build-up and/or suspense.

now, more on the sense of using imagery and being able to portray existing character’s thoughts and personalities (because i feel like the two go hand-in-hand), i would say go back and reread or rewatch certain scenes with those characters and note the types of things they do.

such as : body language , actions they take as they speak , or little things they do or say while talking

like constant “um’s” or just little bouts of hesitancy, or even urgency, where instead, the character tries to fit everything they say into one sentence but it comes out as a jumbled mess.

that would be portraying personality, also, instead of just saying something like “he/she/they said” after a dialogue, try adding an action to it as well !

like : “if i knew this was gonna happen, i would’ve never came here!” she whimpered, pressing her head into her knees, digging her hands into her hair, as she rocked back and forth on the ground.

or

“what about this…?” he spoke up, but trailed off, as everyone looked at him. “could..could this work?” his voice wavered at the sudden attention.

or things like

waving their hands as they speak , person a pacing back and forth, person b getting annoyed at person a’s pacing, cutting other characters off in the middle of their own sentences (not in a rude way, but in a “if i don’t get this out right now, it won’t make sense later.” type of way.)

I AM IN LOVE WITH IR EDDIE AND SEVEN SERIES BUT HEAR ME OUT what if sev had a lil childish crush on Eddie but didn’t understand it and asked the group (including Steve, Nacy, Jonathan) AND MAYBE if sev got jealous of Crissy and some point (this doesn’t have to affect the story line I was just curious) BUT LIKE HEAR ME OUT FR WHO WOULDNT HAVE A CRUSH ON EDDIE???

omg ! this made me laugh so much 😭 and i feel like you read my mind because i had an idea for sev, where she has a crush on gareth and patrick 🫣

small headcannon for:

eddie x platonic! experiment! reader (seven/sev)

- but yeah, the week she was with eddie, she sort of grew a small crush on him, because she wasn’t used to attention like that

- so she didn’t really understand it, but once she was with steve she was thinking ; “oh. well if you’re my brother, and you remind me of eddie for some reason, then i guess i actually just like eddie as a brother 🤨” (tbh she’s still confused) + she already called him her brother to steve at some point, so she refuses to tell anyone about it 🤭

- because it’s like she grew up wanting to be literally just like him, hence the music , hair , and (some of) her clothes and just style in general.

- but in reference to the crush thing and you reading my mind, it’s canon in this universe that she starts to have crushes on people that are older than her 😭

(this is a call out for myself btw and me about to be a senior is taking a toll on me send help 😐)

- her crush on gareth and patrick are pretty much like on the show kenan and kel, (if you haven’t seen it, you should it’s so good 😭)

- but pretty much kenan’s sister had a huge crush on his best friend kel, and it was literally so obvious 😭 or like the show my brother and me, where one of the brother’s friends is constantly trying to get with their sister and she’s always just like : no 😐

- but yeah, everyone knows about it and dustin and lucas snitch to steve and eddie about it all the time

- cue sev just popping up at gareth’s locker, asking him to help her with things after school, or go places with her, not realizing that she’s asking him out.

- so just as he’s about to accept, you just see eddie just coming out of nowehere and interrupting them eveytime, dragging sev away and doing that weird “i’m watching you” gesture to gareth

-gareth is honestly clueless about it, so whenever eddie does that and just shakes his head and mutters “for shame, gareth. for shame 😐” he’s just like, “the hell did i do, now?” because yes it’s a recurring situation , and yes eddie is always watching

- with patrick it’s kind of different, yes he knows, but he obviously isn’t going to do anything about it

- like he’s flattered but girl you’re fifteen, anddd he’s about to graduate 🧍🏾‍♀️

- but he appreciates it and doesn’t hurt your feelings or anything.

- unfortunately him complimenting you back and saying things like, “any guy who rejects you would be stupid.” he was talking about gareth, because you two are closer in age than you and patrick are.

- that doesn’t do what he thinks it does, so when he closes his locker the day after that, to you holding a stack of rare ass sports cards he’s just like “aww shit, i think i made it worse.”

- thankfully (but not really) big brother!steve found out because lucas and dustin live for the drama

- so one day he and eddie decided to hold an intervention for you

- it’s pretty much just steve bursting into your room, while eddie sits on the couch downstairs waiting for his cue

- steve really wasn’t going to say anything, thinking “it’s just harmless crushes 😊”

- but once he found out that you blew your allowance on an entire drumset and sports cards because wow! those were expensive! he can’t take it anymore

“okay i could handle your little crush/infatuation/obsession with munson down there!-

- because yes, he knew, how he found out was beyond you, but it was too late to deny it now.

“shut up i do no-“ you were cut off by him waving his hand dismissingly

“or even for your little things for those two!” he exclaimed pointing at the poster over your dresser and bed of kirk hammett and kelly lebrock. “uhh, kurt hamlet or whatever!”

“kirk hammet?! steve what are you babbling on about?!” you were so confused.

“but this crush on patrick has to dial down, at least a notch!” he stressed

“yeah, and gareth too.” eddie included, as he now stood, leaning on your doorframe.

“why? i’m not doing anything wrong! it’s you four that keep butting in! besides, it’s not like they’ll ever like me back! so you all can just screw off!” you yelled at them, kicking them out of your room, and slamming the door in their face with your powers.

- so that was productive!

- anyways you didn’t speak to steve, eddie, dustin, lucas, gareth, or patrick! for like two weeks.

- it’s like you became a ghost! they literally just didn’t see you in that time, and it’s like if they caught a glimpse of you, in the next second you were just gone 🤨

- dustin and lucas were hurt because you’d prefer to be around mike and max, than them? max, they understand but mike???

“maybe if you two just left her alone, she’d still be hanging out with you.” max and mike made fun of them one day.

- you forgave them all eventually and even talked to patrick and gareth once in your shared study hall, apologizing for if you ever made them uncomfortable.

“it’s okay, you’re good. was just a harmless crush.” patrick dismissed.

“wait she had a crush on me?” gareth asked him after you left when the bell rang.

- besides you had moved on now

- now focusing on the types of things that chrissy and tina, might be into… 😼😼😼
