We were fortunate to be in Bolzano to take part in Reinhold Messner's fire talks. One of the questions he introduced at the beginning was 'How do you recognise a good mountaineer?'. His answer was simple: 'He's still alive!'. The man made a great impression on us that evening.

It was a fortuitous concurrence that we were in the same location at the same time. We had previously visited the museum in Bolzano and discovered a flyer at the entrance. If we had waited a day or visited a day earlier or later, it would not have been feasible. It so happened that we were there at the optimal time.

The universe may be said to have facilitated our meeting in time and space, which seems to be the only logical explanation.
