This is one of my favorite things Jack Skellington says in The Nightmare Before Christmas because the only people present that he can be referring to as "friends" are Sally and Santa Claus. Santa Claus who was kidnapped from his home by child hitmen and then presented to somebody's corpse which told him it was stealing his job and surprised that he isn't a lobster. Then the corpse stole his hat and let the orphan child mobsters take him to a torture dungeon to be executed and eaten by a bag. Then the corpse bursts in and murders the bag screaming how he can't believe the bag would mistreat you, his friend

“Tim Burton first sketched Jack Skellington, the movie’s hero, in his notebook over 10 years ago while he was making his short film Vincent at Disney Studios.” -Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Film, The Art, The Vision by Frank Thompson

(IMAGE ID: A scan of a very sketchy, rough drawing of Jack Skellington from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) as Sandy Claws (Santa Claus), drawn by Burton himself.
"Santa" Jack is drawn only recognizable enough to see his big empty eyes, his long, scraggly Santa beard, and a bit of his hat; the fuzzy headband is easily distinguished from the top of Jack's head, but the rest of which is nothing more than a few scribbles coming off the top of his head. Jack's teeth are drawn loopy and prominent at the bottom of his face and seem to blend into the top of how Burton had drawn Jack's fake beard.
In addition to Jack himself, there is also a quick drawing of what looks to be a short string of Christmas lights hanging below his face and across his beard. Eight to fourteen bulbs can be counted, but from how rough the sketch is, it's not certain if the string is, in fact, a string of lights or is a string of some other type of holiday-themed something Jack has crafted. /END ID)
