You’re telling me that James Lake Jr, got handed the chance to time travel, to undo the death of his best friend, his moms fiancé, and the two other friends he lost in saving the world, but instead he went so far back that he never made friends with most of these people, didn’t know if he would still have the chance to win over the love of his life, and threw out his destiny and responsibility that he proved himself time and time again to be the only one who could take on the amulet and the role of leader, and handed all of that trouble and responsibility and danger and ‘weight of world on shoulders’ over to his best friend, who just died for him, and who is the clumsiest person in the world, who was a hero with completely different strength and would not survive two days with the amulet, because it was not his destiny in the first place, is that what you’re trying to tell me?

Well, that was load of garbage put in fancy packaging and ribbon

some ramblings about the mess that was Rise of the Titans....

first of all. those character deaths were not only unnecessary but they were BRUTAL and far more intense and painful to watch than they needed to be. as a movie that largely targeted for kids and family and is only rated G, did I need to see Nomura shattered into a thousand pieces, Strickler get blown up, Nari turning to ice like that, and Toby literally getting crushed and dying IN FRONT OF JIM?!?! im not saying there couldn't have been emotional moments but the brutality of those scenes just went way too far. not to mention that there ended up being no point to this anyway bc now they're not actually dead?? either way it was awful to watch

second. If they wanted Toby to become the Trollhunter, why not just have the new amulet choose him?? That would have been such a good twist. instead of going to jim, the new amulet flies to toby who saves Jim from Bellroc. It's a great twist, it'd be great for Toby, gives the inspiring message that anyone can be a trollhunter, and it's a good conclusion to Jim's arc as he no longer has to be the trollhunter after going through so much.

which leads me to three. AFTER GOING BACK IN TIME WHY WOULD HE GIVE UP THE AMULET AND HAVE TOBY BE THE TROLLHUNTER???? we spent three seasons explaining that Jim was CHOSEN for a reason. he had to be the trollhunter. now how are they going to defeat Gunmar, Morgana, etc.

which of course is four. going back in time like that was stupid. it erased every single thing we've watched. essentially the series ended with "it was all a dream." seriously, remove the part about toby finding the amulet and that's exactly how it ended. every single relationship? gone. every character arc and journey? erased. no closure was given to anyone. we didn't get to see where they ended up at the end of the series. there WAS no end. claire lost all her sorceress powers, douxie lost all his beautiful development in wizards, aja and krel??? we dont even know what's gonna happen with them now. they even half assed strickler and barbara by just having jim set them up. sorry how is that gonna work out if we don't see strickler's whole arc of changing to be one of the good guys?? would he even do that now if jim wasnt the trollhunter??? ARGH I HATE THIS ENDING ITS SO STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!

and finally. the movie was just so anticlimatic. after the first battle scene, so many characters were underpowered. Douxie literally fought the Arcane Order in Wizards and now suddenly he's being thrown around like a ragdoll. Claire is suddenly just like "sorry ive exhausted my powers" at like 5 different points in the movie. she never even got to have an insanely badass scene like she deserved. what was the point of even bringing up jim's dad? we know he's irrelevant, who cares?? archie and douxie separated after being together for centuries and just being like "oh well, hope he's happy" like ????????????? what the HELL was the aja/steve shit??? that was just stupid and uncomfortable and took up screen time that couldve been used for real development and plot.

in short, this movie was terrible. I've loved this series so much and I used to consider it flawless. the characters are amazing and the story was so good. i'll always love the tv shows so much but i genuinely hope to forget this movie even exists. I'm just so disappointed by what should've been an epic conclusion to this wonderful series.

Okay I didn't like A LOT of things in this movie BUT I believe it could have been saved if Jim just traveled back to the beginning of the movie itself.

It could have ended with him saying " okay, let's do it again" or some shit like that I don't care.

As a person who HATES open endings I still would have been willing to accept it over that hideous last minutes we had to witness.

Another big thing that I can't live with is that the magical amulet just chose the first person there.

Like , I thought that this thing was meant to choose the trollhunter because of his skills or his pure heart or crap like that.

Why didn't the amulet choose Jim again ? Isn't the whole trollhunter stuff based on destiny ? And isn't it JIM'S DESTINY to be trollhunter ? WTF??

I want to make myself clear, my problems with that ending are in no way, ‘‘Toby hate’, I love him and he was a full fledged hero. I wouldn’t have been happy if Jim gave the amulet to Claire either, or douxie , or blinky, or anyone else, because they all had their own part to play. They all had their individual destiny, and destiny was such a big theme, and then Jim forfeited his own, and decided who would play what role as if he can do that. They were a team, each character had their position, each one had a purpose, I’m not happy that they killed Toby, but he was not the yielder of the amulet, he was the yielder of the war hammer. You can’t swap destinies with your best friend because you think ‘maybe this way he’ll survive’, that’s not how it works and Jim knows the weight he just put on Toby’s shoulders. Just because Toby was the help Jim needed to carry it, doesn’t mean that Jim helping will be what Toby needs to carry it. He just imbalanced something bigger than he even understands, and after a while he’s gonna realize he made a mistake and have to put things back to the same moment he left, because time travel, NEVER, works out .

getting the long-awaited finale of one of my favourite series and having to watch the ending strip all the characters of their development and basically erase the events of the entire franchise like

EXACTLY like I mean the movie wasn't really bad it was super cool and the animation was amazing but like the ending isn't that bad it's kind of cool if you think about it cause now the entire Fandom will be busy making fanfiction and fanart

And besides now this time Jim will know what's happening he will know who the traitors are and who are his friends so all the mistakes made before won't happen again

And since Toby has the amulet and is the trollhunter Jim would be helping him and guiding him while making sure everything goes smoothly from behind the scene

And I think the amulet was SUPPOSED to find Jim cause like he said what's meant to be will be, maybe the whole time traveling thing was supposed to happen and that's why the amulet (and merlin) chose Jim cause it knew no one would succeed the first time (cause we all saw what happened in the Unbecoming episode even in that Jim was given a second chance) but it needed a hero who would be smart enough to figure all this out and have the courage to do it.

I don't think so cause in Unbecoming Draal was there at the right place and right time but he like ROYALLY SCREWED UP I think its more about the amulet (aka merlin) knowing that no one could stop the arcane order the first time, without causing total destruction, so it chose the person it knew who would get it right the first time but also have the courage to go back in time cause Jim and everyone he knew would know any of this yet he still went back cause of the small chance that they would be able to save everyone

And also unlike Draal Jim knew and also didn't want to do any of it alone Draal messed up cause he refused to tell people he was the trollhunter and that caused Gunmar to be released but Jim would welcome anyone who wanted to help thus the first part being called Trollhunters and not Trollhunter eventhough everyone kept saying how only the trollhunter could help.

Eventhough in the end Jim had to go alone he made it that far because of the help he got from everyone he met.

Also people need to stop hating on the directors like dude come on they worked hard on it and to THEM this is a good ending, the ending the show deserves.
