what would a pokemon region based on the midwest be like?

((just as i finished typing all of this i looked it up and colorado is not in the midwest like i always thought it was and im too tired to delete this whole thing so yea))

im not sure honestly, theres a lot of potential. for me ive always wanted to create a region based on where i live which is colorado, and create pokemon that are based on the wildlife here.

and apologies for sharing a bit too much, but i wanted to share these really rough sketches of what the starters would look like. i will probably change the mountain lion to an elk since thats the most popular animal here.
