this scene is just... uncontested my favorite one in the entire game. and i didnt even get to see it on my first playthrough! this entire scene and the dialogue choice that leads you to it are just.. god. the alternate dialogue choice that skips this scene is a kinda lighthearted joke in response to sage worrying about his future and i (and i presume most first time players) picked the joke. and then you go through the game again and get this scene and it just... it really recontextualizes pretty much everything about sage that weve seen up to this point and just... it hits. it really does. theres so much just in this three minute scene not only about the experience of being trans around people who barely or just dont support you, but also just like... the struggle of being yourself while also being taken seriously. and like going back through after you picked the other dialogue it makes you realize that, however small of a piece it was, you were a part of the problem. and god just... that last line - We don't owe them 'normal' ...
