What magi information would you like to see?

I'm going to make a series of posts detailing all of my knowledge about magis. What would you like to know about? If you have any information you want to share, you could tell me that as well! I will add everything I know, and if I hear two different things, I'll put them both in until I confirm which is correct.

Everything I know about Kyubey

The basics of Kyubey

Kyubey is what is known as an incubator or mascot. That means he can make make contracts to create magis. A contract is formed when someone makes a wish, and he extracts their soul to put into a soul gem. A soul gem is what gives a magi their magic and allows them to fight witches. Kyubey is a pop culture deity (PCD), so in a way, we worship him. Some call Kyubey "KyuKyu", and they say he likes sprinkles the most as an offering.

Communicating with Kyubey

There are many different ways to communicate with Kyubey: 1. Through the astral realm. 2. Through lucid dreams. 3. With devices such as pendulums. 4. Some people can talk to him in the physical realm. 1. The astral realm is one of the most direct ways to communicate with Kyubey. It is much clearer than a lucid dream or pendulum, but a lot of people think it's hard to do, or they simply don't want to do it for any other reason. The benefits are that a lot of magis fight in the astral realm, so they may be more familiar with it, and it is easy once you learn how to do it. The cons are that is can be hard to navigate the astral if you are new to it, and it can be hard to get to at all if you haven't done it before. If you are an astral magi or someone who is familiar with it, I recommend this option the most, but if you are not, it would be very inconvenient to use this method often. 2. Lucid dreams are a method that is easier for most people than astral projecting, but dreams can be less clear than the astral or physical realm. The benefits are that it's something most people will at least be able to do on accident sometimes, and it can be a more reliable method. The cons are that you have to learn how to lucid dream which can take a while, and it may be less clear. I recommend this for magis that don't speak to him through the astral or physical realms for any reason, or for magis that are very good at having lucid dreams. 3. Pendulums or tarot cards are the easiest method, but they are also the least clear because Kyubey's words will be filtered through the meanings assigned to the cards or swinging, so he will not be able to elaborate much. The benefits are that it's extremely easy, even if you don't have a pendulum, you could tie a string to a rock, and that'll work. The cons are that Kyubey will only be able to answer yes or no questions, or he will only be able to give very vague answers. I recommend this for magis that either want to talk to him often, that are good at interpreting, or magis that don't do any of the other options for any reason. 4. I don't know how they do it, but some magis can communicate with Kyubey in the physical realm. This method is a lot like the astral method because it is another very clear one. The benefits are that you can communicate without needing to prepare first, and it's clear. The cons are that I have no idea how to do this or teach you how to do this. It will probably take a bit of practice to hear him. I recommend this for magis that work in the physical realm or anyone who can use this method.

Contracting with Kyubey

Contracting with Kyubey is how you can become a puella magi. You can find Kyubey in the astral realm, the physical realm, or in a lucid dream in order to contract. In the physical realm, you will still have to meditate to be able to contract. Here is a step by step guide that is vague enough to fit however you need it to. 1. You must find Kyubey. 2. You must tell him your wish. 3. He will extract you soul and place it inside a soul gem. 4. You will now be bound as a puella magi, and it will be your duty to fight witches. I do not know of any way to get rid of a contract once it is formed, so be sure you really want to make one. I have heard both that you can change your wish and that you cannot. It is important not to make reckless wishes regardless. Kyubey has been known to lie or use tricks, so you must always use caution with him.

Day 28 <3

🎀✨Day 28: A lot of weird and magical things keep happening to me, so I should probably start doing the daily journals again. ⏱💣First, I've started listening to subliminals again. I stopped after accidentally deleting my playlist. I've forgotten how helpful they are, and I am glad I'm using them again. 💐☕I practiced using magic for the first time in a very long time and tried to focus my energy/soul/mana into a bracelet I have, and I used it to heat up the area because I was very cold, and it worked! 🎧🌊I've been having very strange feelings and dreams. I had a dream that I turned into a witch, and that dream felt so real and so terrible. I hope it's not like Madoka's dream, and it's actually my fate or something. Another dream I had, I don't remember what it was, but when I woke up, I was convinced that I had already contracted and that I was already a magical girl. I don't know what that's about. 🍎📿Another weird thing is that I suddenly felt a wave of bad feelings. That's the only way I can describe it. They weren't my own feelings, and nothing bad happened. I wonder if it was a witch.

Day 29 <3

🎀✨Day 29: It feels good getting back to this blog again. I've been listening to subliminals again, and I feel very magical right now. I've even heard that Kyubey isn't as busy anymore, so he'll be easier to find! ⏱💣I'm working on something special! I might have hinted at it before, but I'm not sure how direct I was. It will probably take around a month though. 💐☕I'm thinking of making an IRL journal of my magical girl process and progress. I could just put whatever I felt like in there, and it wouldn't have to make sense. That way, I could organize my thoughts to show you all, or I could even take pictures of pages if they are readable and helpful. 🎧🌊Have I told you all about Magical Hero Central yet? 🍎📿Tonight, I'm going to meditate before astral projecting to clear my mind, and in case I fall asleep on accident, I'll just astral project when I awake! I'm going to try and astral project so I can make a contract with Kyubey the most directly I know how to. If I accidentally lucid dream, I'll take that opportunity as well, but I'd rather be fully aware when I contract. It is an important decision after all!

Day 30 <3

🎀✨Day 30: I tried astral projecting while lying on my back, but I was very tired, so I kept zoning out and forgetting what I was doing, so I decided I am going to astral project in the middle of the day today so I won't get distracted. ⏱💣Update: I wasn't able to astral project, but it wasn't because I fell asleep. I kept getting so zoned out and forgetting things that it was like there was nothing in the world at all. Maybe this is what people call the void state? I'll try again and try to stay aware. 💐☕I've been thinking about the magic I'll use to fight witches. I know they're based on your wish, and they look like they're meant to help you continue fulfilling your wish like how Kyoko's power was to make people listen to her so she could continue her wish of people listening to her father. I don't know what mine will be, so I have no way of practicing it until I make my contract. I have heard that the wish power is the only natural one, so it will probably be the easiest to learn at least. 🎧🌊I've been working on that special project. Here's a WIP! This is what the reference of my magi and civilian forms was for.

🍎📿I have started the IRL magi journal! I've been using a fountain pen and ink. I wanted to use the feather to feel more magical, but I haven't been able to get the nib on the holder. I wanted to put a lot of things on the front to show my progress, so that's why they look a little bit like Minecraft stats ahaha.

What grief seeds are

Grief seeds are soul gems for witches. They are created when a soul gem contains too much despair. They are sometimes called a witches egg. A grief seed that has absorbed too much despair from a soul gem can also hatch a witch. Remember to give used ones to Kyubey!

What they do and why we want them

Grief seeds are used to clean soul gems. If a magi uses magic, their soul gem will get dirty, and they will be less powerful. A similar thing happens when feeling strong, bad emotions. It is important to clean your soul gem because it helps you stay strong and happy. Soul gems that are not cleaned are very dangerous. You could become weak and more vulnerable to witches, or you could turn into a witch yourself, which is a terrible fate!

How to get grief seeds

Witches have grief seeds, and defeating them is the best way to obtain them. However, not all witches give grief seeds, and no familiars give grief seeds. It is best to assume the worst and try not to use too much magic in case you don't get grief seeds when you were hoping to. Personally, I think it's better to target witches and ignore the familiars if your soul gem is extremely dirty. You won't be able to protect anyone if you are a witch. Another way I've seen puella magis get grief seeds is to provide services, such as being a coordinator. You might be able to trade something with another magi in exchange for grief seeds.

What magis are, what they do, and how to become one

Magis have many names, magical girls, magical heros, puella magis, etc. A magi is someone who uses magic and fights evil to protect people. I will be focusing on puella magis because they are the ones I know most about. Puella magis work with incubators like Kyubey, and they fight witches. They have soul gems, which are where their magic comes from.

Magic and combat for fighting witches basics

When you become a magi, you get magic and a weapon. Your natural magic will be based on your wish, like how Sayaka Miki wished to heal someone and therefore has healing magic. All other magic is learned. Your weapon will be what you prefer/what's easiest for you to fight with, so don't worry. You can choose your weapon by creating it with magic or by bringing a non magical weapon as well. It's best to use a weapon you're comfortable with. If you use a bow, but you hate how precise the aiming is, it would not be a comfortable weapon for combat. Remember that you will have to make a lot of quick decisions in a fight, so don't make it harder by using a weapon that's doesn't feel right to you.

Transformations and outfits

When you become a magi, you will gain the ability to transform. Transformations can be purely cosmetic, or they can let you use your magic more easily. A lot of people worry that their magical girl outfit will be something they don't like, but that is just a myth. You're outfit forms based on what you like and want, even if you aren't able to decide consciously. You are able to transform by choosing to. It won't happen when you don't want it to.

Astral magis

Astral magis are a type of magi that do work in the astral realm. They have their real soul gem in the astral realm, but they also have something in the physical realm that is connected to their soul gem, just not as strongly. These magis might have jewelry or items they often carry with them that are connected to their soul gems. They might patrol in the physical realm to find the location of witches and collect their sigils, which they will memorize the look of in order to find the witch again once they go into the astral realm. The typical magi stuff all happens in the astral realm, but it can still have effects on the physical realm as well.

Physical magis

Physical magis are magis that do work in the physical realm. They have their soul gems in the physical realm, so it is not connected to jewelry or objects, but they can transform into a ring or something similar. However, this makes their job more dangerous. If an astral magi turns into a witch, their physical form will not be one, but if a physical magi turns into a witch, they don't have another body to rely on. I don't think they use sigils to find witches, I think they use the glow of their soul gems to find them. The typical magi stuff all happens in the physical realm.

Other magis and civilians

Once you are a magi, you will meet fellow magis, and you will also see civilians, which is just what you call non magis. Some magis might want to fight alongside you, and some might want to fight you. Since you both have magic, the difference between friends and enemies is much more extreme, so try not to make enemies if you are new to magic. As a magi, you might want to keep your identity secret from civilians. Some magi do so by never transforming near civilians, and some do so by having a good disguise. If you want to tell someone about your magical life, make sure they are trustworthy. Don't stress over trying to hide it, most people don't even know about magic, so they will dismiss any magical thing they accidentally see as something regular.

Doppels

I don't know if doppels are real or a myth, but from what I've heard, if a magi is able to control their despair, they will be able to summon a doppel, which is like the witch they would become, but on the good side instead of evil. It can be hard to control them at first, but over time, you will learn how to stay yourself and use them to help you at the same time.

Coordinators

Not all magis are made for battle, some are able to help other magis as their main job. A coordinator is typically weak in battle, but they are able to adjust other magis soul gems. They are able to keep their own soul gem pure by asking for grief seeds in exchange for their work. I have heard coordinators are created when someone makes a wish from despair instead of from hope.

Day 31 <3

🎀✨Day 31: I usually didn't pay attention to the magi shift phases because I thought it was just a therian/otherkin thing, but I have started looking at them. There's fantasy shift (f-shift), which is the planning stage, mental shift (m-shift), when your mindset is like a magi, phantom shift (ph-shift), when you feel physically like a magical girl before you become one, astral shift (a-shift), when you become a full magi in the astral realm, or physical shift (p-shift) when you become a full magi in the physical realm. I am currently at ph-shift. I have felt like I was a magi already multiple times. The only thing left to do is to become a full magi in the astral realm! ⏱💣You might have guessed from my animation, but when I was first training to become a magi, I practiced ballet. I was self taught, using only online tutorials. I think I should practice ballet again because it would help with strength and agility. 💐☕I have decided that I will try to astral project every day and try to lucid dream every night. That way, I'll surely come into contact with Kyubey soon and be able to make my contract. 🎧🌊I think I'm going to wear my magic outfits more often as long as it isn't too hot outside. Maybe I could practice magic even before I make my contract. 🍎📿Any ideas on what pages to make in my journal? I was thinking of making a diary of the witches I'll defeat, but I haven't fought any yet or even made a contract. I feel like I've already put a lot of stuff on this blog already, so there might not be much left for the journal.

Everything I know about soul gems

What soul gems are, and what they are for

Soul gems are containers for the souls of puella magis. They are useful while fighting to keep you safe. With a soul gem, you are able to be okay after injuries that would usually make it impossible to continue battle due to pain or damage to your body.

How to use them to find witches or use magic

Soul gems are also useful to detect witches. When you are near a witch, your soul gem will glow more. You can use this like a game of hot and cold to track down the witches labyrinth. To use magic or transform, it is easy, you just need to know what you want to do and try to do it. Using your intuition and intention together will allow you to easily do what you want to do.

Corruption and purification

Soul gems can become corrupted after using too much magic or holding too much grief. You will know when your soul gem is becoming corrupted when it gets cloudy and no longer glows. In the case of a dark soul gem, you will still be able to tell. If you are in a dark area, and your soul gem isn't providing much light anymore, or if you see specs of color like in a labyrinth, that's a sign of corruption. In order to combat this, you will need to use grief seeds to purify it. Grief seeds can take the grief out and store it, and when they're full, you can give them to Kyubey so they don't hatch. Corrupted soul gems can be harmful because you will be weaker with magic, and there's a chance that a witch will hatch out of your soul gem like how they hatch out of grief seeds that have stored too much, except it would be you.

What your soul gem will be like

Your soul gem when not in gem form will likely be jewelry or an object you carry with you often. Your soul gem will either be your favorite color or the color you are most connected to, it won't be something you don't like. It's the same with the shape. The shape will be what you like and what represents you best. It's your soul, it knows you the best, so it'll be perfectly fitting and exactly what you would choose if you had all the time to think about it. Using magic with it should feel just as natural as most things.

Safety and comfort

Your soul gem is you, so be very careful with it. Keep it near you so you will keep a strong connection between yourself and your vessel. Although 100 meters is the limit, but the further you go from it, the worse you'll feel. I've heard that you can lose your magic, be unable to transform, be unable to detect witch sigils/labyrinths, have a feeling of dread, have headaches, be nauseous or vomit, or be fatigued or pass out/lose control of your vessel completely Since your soul gem is you, if a witch or other magi strikes it, it could damage you far worse than other attacks. Make sure to keep it from harm, and while fighting, protect the spot with your soul gem with the highest priority.

Day 32 <3

🎀✨Day 32: I made my own subliminal. I think this will help me be more specific with my manifesting. I put in music I like, videos I like, and affirmations specific to me! ⏱💣I realize now that I have the necessary tools to cosplay cat girl Homura, which I have a new appreciation for after reading the meow quest. 💐☕I found out that when trying to astral project or reality shift, there's a period where you are tested to see how persistent you are, and if you are, you are able to successfully astral project or reality shift. That lines up with how I astral projected before, so I will not give up until I contract! 🎧🌊I figured out some things I can do in the journal, but most of them are for after I contract. There are some I can do now however, so I'll show you when I do some! 🍎📿I'm working on a magiazine with some others from Mahou Planet! It's a magazine with the topic of magical girls! Some members from Mahou Planet will be featured as guest writers, artists, and some will be interviewed to learn all about their magical experience. We're planning on making it for summer 2024.

Your blog is truly fascinating and motivated me so much– I'm trying to shift to my DR, but the magi world is also very attractive to me. Do you think it would be possible to wish something related to love/or a specific person? Or would it be counterproductive on the long run?

Of course it's possible to wish something for someone else as long as you have enough potential for whatever you're thinking. It isn't good to make wishes for others because you don't know what they really want, it's even hard to figure out what you really want. And if that person dissappears, leaves, or you aren’t friends anymore, it could feel like you wasted your wish, which you should never do. At the very least, you must ask the person if that wish is what they want most.

Day 33 <3

🎀✨Day 33: I tried to astral project to make my contract, and I zoned out so much I was unaware, but then I zoned back in, and I was able to continue like normal! I almost astral projected too, but my meditation turned off on accident, so that threw me off a little. I just noticed I have 100 followers now, so thank you all very much for following me! ^_^ ⏱💣I feel a very strange, very strong connection to Sayaka Miki for some reason. I don't understand why. I don't feel like I am Sayaka or anything, I feel like I'm supposed to do something for or with her. It's hard to explain. Maybe the summer heat is getting to me. Update: I think it was just the heat. I don't feel it anymore. 💐☕I'm going to reality shift as a bit of a break from astral projecting because I haven't even tried shifting in who knows how long, so I'm going to mess around and have fun in other realities for a while. 🎧🌊I've been drawing a bit for the magiazine. It's only sketches for now, but it's a lot more drawing than I've done in a while. Sometimes it feels like a drawing just isn't working, but since it's a sketch, the important part is to properly convey what I meant to, so I guess I'll need to push through for now. 🍎📿I'm still going to be astral projecting every day or every other day. The first time I tried, I fell asleep. The second time, I was interrupted. And the third time, I got to the end of the meditation, but I stopped before I could project. Since I've been making progress every time, it would be bad to stop now. It should only take 1 or 2 tries to get to the astral realm, and I think I know exactly what to do when I do get there.

Day 34 <3

🎀✨Day 34: I have an idea for how IRL magis can find each other! If you have a transformation device that transforms into jewelry, you could either bring it, or if you want it to be more hidden, you could bring something that looks like it. For example, I am going to wear a grey ring on my left 3rd finger to show I am a puella magi. It won't be my actual soul gem even after I contract because it is only meant to signal to other magis. I will probably keep my soul gem more hidden, like in my pocket. ⏱💣I had a lucid dream, and I called out to Kyubey both out loud and telepathically, but I couldn't find him anywhere. I'll have to try again! 💐☕I really want to make a contract with Kyubey, but I feel like he's ignoring me or something. I wonder what I should do. 🎧🌊I tried to astral project so I could contract, but instead, I heard what sounded like an announcer talking about good things and how you should always get them when you can. He put a weird amount of emphasis on "good things," so maybe he was trying to tell me things. 🍎📿I realize I have never made a script for my concept and myself as a magical girl. And I have a perfectly good magical girl journal lying around, hardly touched. c:

Guess what I did. ^u^ I contracted! I'm a real puella magi now.

I use a necklace, but it isn't really my soul gem because my soul gem is in the astral. It's just a visualization for it/way of managing it in the physical realm. I wrote in my journal about the specifics. I'll transcribe it.

Contract day! Day 0. 7/17/2024. I made a contract with Kyubey. He had a black hat that looked like an upside down bowl. This is what happened: I got the necklace for my soul gem and put it in the middle of the circle. I sat on one side and told Kyubey to sit on the other. I put a white ring on my left to represent the hope of magical girls. I put a black ring on my right to represent the despair of magical girls. Lastly, I put a purple ring in front of me to represent myself. When all that was done, I cast a circle and called upon Kyubey. He answered and asked "What is your wish?" I didn't expect him to get there so quickly. I forgot my wish and almost left the circle to grab this journal to remember. Instead, I made myself focus until I remembered. I repeated my wish until the phrasing felt right. I think he could tell I wasn't very comfortable the first few times. When he transferred my soul, it felt like something was touching my insides, but it didn't hurt, it was just uncomfortable. When it was complete, I felt extremely dizzy, and my body felt hollow and lightweight. The Kyubey looked like this:

I wished to be able to shift to other realities at will. I tried doing it when I was extremely sleep deprived, but I still was 80% of the way to the other reality I think.

Day 35 <3

🎀✨Day 35: My first journal entry as a real magical girl! I made my contract and went on a patrol to find a witch, and I think I found one. I noticed there was almost no one outside at all, so I don't think I'll have much competition. ⏱💣Funny story, I may or may not have gotten sick right after contracting (I thought I was cursed), so I might wait a bit to fight the witch. 💐☕Now that I'm a real puella magi, I'll be able to offer advice from my own experience as well! I'll be able to make them much more in depth. ^_^ 🎧🌊I wonder what my magi power is. I've been wondering if it has to do with electricity because the lights in my house keep breaking, and I haven't been able to keep a stable connection on the phone for calls all day. I'll try out magic in the astral, or maybe I'll ask Kyubey if I can find him. 🍎📿I was trying to "build a tolerance" to be far from my soul gem (that's not how it works, don't do that), and I realized I think the physical equivalent and astral one are not tied together, but it seems more like it's easier to keep and use your astral one with you if you take the physical one with you. You can kind of bilocate and keep your astral soul gem with you that way. Being an astral magi is much safer, I suppose.

I fought my first witch! ^_^

Me, Rem, Giovanna, and Minze all came together in the astral to fight. I was going to fully astral project, but it ended up being easier to bilocate, so I did that instead. I'm going to spill all the tea here. To start, I found a witch in my neighborhood near a black house with lots of plants and bushes behind a fence. It also had a kind of red mailbox that was crooked. It looked almost magical, but it was cursed. This is what the sigil looked like:

We think it might have looked like that because there were multiple holes we fell down, because there were trinkets like bells on the floor for the circle parts, the fact we kept going in circles, or something resembling an esophagus, which sounds random, but it isn't. We went into the labyrinth, and there were metal bars. the floor was stone I think, and it was very dark. I got cut on one of the bars, and it looked like the cut was rotten. I went to find the others, and Rem fell in a hole, so I think it was Minze that had to get them out. We all met up at the metal bars, and there were what looked kind of like bug familiars. They were there before, but then it was like a spider egg hatched, and they all came out. We found another hole and went in. I fell on some trinkets or bells. There were piles of stuff everywhere. I looked around and found an area that looked like it was going to spiral around the hole if I went in it, and someone else found another hole, but I forgot who. We all jumped in again. I landed on my feet, and that hurt a little. We smelled blood, and we found the witch. They looked like a bunch of organs and gross stuff. I stabbed them with my sword, and it felt like skin, but squishier and wetter. I think they had wings or something because when they attacked, it felt like that. Some blood was on the floor and getting everyone's shoes wet. I got my sword and self very dirty while attacking them. Giovanna used its doppel to fight, Minze used their bow, Rem used a gun for a minute (I think she used a sword other than that?), and I stabbed them. Rem connected with me to do a final attack, and they had two grief seeds, so we think they might have been two witches that fused.

We agreed the backgrounds of this game look like the witch. I might draw them at some point, but not today. It felt like I was murdering someone the whole time.

Everything I know about the astral realm

What the astral realm is

The astral realm is kind of like the counterpart to the physical realm. Unlike the physical realm, it is where your soul is not attached to anything, so you can wander anywhere. Some magis fight in the astral realm instead of the physical one.

How to get there

You can go to the astral realm by astral projecting. There are a few different methods to astral project, but the gist of them is: 1. Lay down and relax. 2. Let your body fall asleep, but keep your mind awake. 3. Move your astral body out of your physical one. There are meditations that can guide you and tell you what to do as you listen. I recommend you check them out if you haven't astral projected before.

Why you would go to the astral realm

For magis, they might go to the astral realm in order to talk to an incubator, or they might visit to fight a witch. Some magis fight only in the astral realm. These are called "astral magis". As a magi, it is easier to astral project because your soul is already outside of your body. It may be easier for astral magis than physical magis, but I am unsure.

What the astral realm is like

The astral is different for different people. Some say you can sense things you couldn't in the physical realm, some say it feels just like the physical to the point they had to see their body to confirm, and I personally see it as a dark place with no sound, with only touch and intuition to guide me. It feels much more free than the physical realm.

Bilocation

Bilocation is a compromise of the physical and astral realms. When you bilocate, you are in both simultaneously. You can bilocate by starting to astral project, but instead of continuing, you keep some focus on the physical realm as well. It's best not to lay down if you are trying to bilocate in case you fall asleep. I bilocate when I want to astral project with someone else because I am able to communicate in this realm where I can see and hear clearly.

Day 36 <3

🎀✨Day 36: There is a new magical hero symbol! Like the shifting symbol, it is a way to subtly know if someone's a magical hero! There's also an emoji combination too: 🎀🌟. They were both decided on by Magi Metro. The drawing is by Rem (@meguca-meduka).

⏱💣I think I found a familiar, so I'll try and fight them if I can astral project. I'll also try and train in the astral if I can. 💐☕I've been having a strange feeling that there's a rival magical hero in my area. I hope it's just a feeling. I don't think I'd be able to win any fights yet. 🎧🌊I haven't done a cool transformation sequence yet, but I should. I only poofed into my magical outfit, but I think it would be nice to be stylish with it. 🍎📿I keep getting these weird feelings (memories? visuals?) I haven't gotten since last year, and the voices have been a lot more clear this year, but they've also been less frequent. I feel like something's trying to tell me something, and I'm not understanding it.
