oh god, mrs westenra actually dying on audio and then lucy starting to cry and almost unable to get words out "The time did not seem long, but very, very awful" nope this is terrible, i knew hearing it here would be even worse than reading it and yet i was unprepared for how much worse

oh no, and then the slow fading in and out of the audio at the very end as lucy is fading in and out then into nothing but the song of the nightingale. excellent sound design but also how dare you

Fan Fic Mish Mash

10:30am-12:00, Pouilly Room, Mezzanine – as part of the Podcast Zone

This show will Merely Roleplayers' first venture into Interstitial: Our Hearts Intertwined by Riley Hopkins, which is inspired by crossover/alternate universe fan fiction, Kingdom Hearts, and making your Star Wars action figures and your My Little Ponies go on adventures together when you were little. (We've played Interstitial before, just not for an audience)

In Interstitial, the idea is you play your blorbos and scrunklies from existing shows and books and stuff, liberating them from corporations fanfic-style to make your own, better stories with them. I pitched a total free-for-all but that got shut down on the basis it might "get the convention into trouble" and "risk invoking the awful wrath of Disney's legal team", so this is gonna be all public-domain Interstitial.

Watch this space – over the next couple of weeks we'll announce our main cast and which characters from literature and legend they'll be playing!

All the humans in Dracula are in a survival horror but Drac himself is playing a Soulslike.

He did a first run into the London dungeon, got appreciably far but then got cornered by some enemies, dropped all his loot, lost all his safe return points and had to head back to the overworld to heal up and try again. Ok, each run at this dungeon takes months or years, but he's a vampire, that's the timeline he's on.

To me that's the attitude that makes most sense of him jumping ship back to Transylvania so seemingly abruptly. He's like "ok, decent run, pretty sure I know how to avoid that trap next time, better get out and plan the next try".
