Queer Author - Tumblr Posts
rule: it is bad to force a queer person to come out.
exception: the one exception here, i’d say, is when you are an author and the queer person in question is a character in your book.
in that case, that motherfucker needs to get their bullshit together and stop keeping secrets from their author. seriously, how tf do they expect to be written when they’re so goddamn secretive about everything that the author needs to know in order to write them??
(..yes, i am having some frustrations with my characters refusing to help me out on figuring out their identity. most of them have gotten their act together tho. most of them.)
i’ve literally been sitting here for like ten minutes waiting for my character for the new book i’m writing to tell me whether she’s trans or not. (i’m one of those authors who like to mentally chat with their characters as they write)
OCs. am i right?? why do they have to be so secretive??
(yes, [character name]—she’s currently unnamed—i am publicly shaming you on tumblr over this. lol)
ok. so. i hear that you’re supposed to advertise your book before you publish, (duh) and i was thinking—what better way to do that than to post little snippets and stuff of my WIPs here on Tumblr?? i just wanna know if y’all would be interested in reading them!! (there is a poll at the end)
(whump community, i feel like y’all will especially really like this!!!)
so. for a summary of the universe: (i have many books and they are all so far in the same universe)
i basically took the Little Nightmares universe and then very heavily edited and changed it. i made lore for what causes the end of the world, added a bunch of new characters, locations, and other lore, and then there’s two continents—the Distorted Continent, and the ‘Normal’ Continent. the Distorted Continent is where all the monsters are, it’s under the Tower’s control, it’s FULL of monsters, distorted adults, and then a bunch of kids who have to try to survive it. the ‘Normal’ Continent was also affected, but it’s away from the Tower’s influence for the most part. it’s populated by humans and nonhumans—the nonhumans are things like demons, avians, (winged people) elves, orcs, et cetera. there’s also books set in the before and after of the world being ‘destroyed’. (the before is just the ordinary IRL world mostly)
ok, with the basics of the universe out of the way, here’s what my main book(s) is about.
the main plot centers around a group of kids. in the first book, they live in the distorted continent, and the plot centers around them traveling through there and trying to survive. the second book has a timeskip where they’re teenagers and live in the ‘normal’ continent, that plot centers more around the conflict between humans and nonhumans.
there is a LOT of whump. all the characters are queer in some way, most of them are neurodivergent, and about half are POC. there is also a very large female cast.
(also a bunch of secondary books, most of which relate to each other in some way, plus there’ll be a Gen2 for the main cast. lots of stuff. the genre is horror, and did i mention how much whump there is?? whump community should love this, plus any enjoyers of angst, hurt/comfort, and queer characters ^^)
anyways. my question. (also, if y’all read this far, thank you!!
hello!! i just wanted to say that i have finished chapter 11!! :D
I feel like a lot of these trans fics on scribblehub have a solid thing going but then they stop kind of abruptly once the MC cracks their egg. I cracked my egg a full 5 years ago and my life definitely became more eventful after that. My story started there, if anything. So it feels weird to me how many of these fics seemingly have nothing left to say after the MC realizes what the deal is. Idk
PLEASE buy books from trans and nonbinary authors!
It's really fucking sad to me that, like, 60% of the top selling transgender and transgender studies books on Amazon CA are anti-trans, fear mongering bullshit from TERFs, bitter conservative doctors who don't want to treat trans people, whiny cis male professors who all think that they're embattled like Jordan Peterson, and journalist who think that respecting a trans person's identity and pronouns is an attack on there free speech and beliefs.
It's fucking sad.
EDIT for some trans and nonbinary authors to check out:
Tobi Hill-Meyer
Alok Vaid-Menon
Ivan Coyote
Florence Ashley
Mia Violet
Maia Kobabe
Julia Serano
Sinclair Sexsmith
Laura Kate Dale
Georgina "Gigi" Kiersten
S. Bear Bergman
Mx. Nillin Lore
Orlando Silver
Jamie Raines
Hello y'all, I really struggle with making friends and I want to try to make some friends, feel free to talk with me about anything!
I'm 18
Also bonus points if you're LGBT and neurodivergent:D
Some things I like (if we have anything in common):
Animals!
Netflix shows
Warriors and survivors book series
Drawing (I mostly draw animals but I draw people to)
Writing (I'm a wannabe writer, I'll chat for hours about my useless OCS🤌)
What if at every opportunity to describe or summarize my WIP story I simply put [BOY X MOSTLY-BOY DONT LIKE DONT READ!!!] Nothing else. No other context or hints or anything, just that unhelpful message and a link to the damn thing.
I kknow absolutely nothing about your characters but are they homosexuals
They look it
That there group of characters are in fact genuine ho-mo-sexuals, yessiree.
[To be more queerly precise here:
🌻Klaus is pansexual, panromantic, cisgendered. Sexually nonmonogamous but flexible, romantically open to polyfidelity.
💋Kazimier is grey-ace but pansexual, somewhere on the aromantic spectrum, and is gender-fluid. Strictly nonmonogamous sexually, romantically.. unwilling.
🌠Seeker is androsexual, biromantic, and intersex with some demifem identifying. Culturally predisposed to polyamory.
🐁Val is pretty apathetic to all notions of these identities, he identifies as a bloke just lookin to get by.
At least that's how they are off the top of my head lmao 😅]
Tagging peeps incase any o yall wanna talk about how your characters identify.

Genuine question, why are your pronouns structured like they/them/he?
Is that in lime order of preference or smth
(obviously no hate, genuinely curious)
I am a genderfluid cryptid first and foremost, but like masculine titles like Sir.
It's a shorthand for whatever gender that is, I suppose.
Oh my gosh, uh. HARD SAME in terms of missing having a writing community. I've been trying to find it again, but the lack of interaction here makes it pretty challenging. :/
I'm not an indie author, mainly because I self-published TTRPGs for 14 years and am Over It, and am currently slogging through querying agents for my first queer romance novel.
However:
I'm Real Fuckin' Gay (trans nb + ace demi + bi)
The novel I'm querying is queer af
Elevator pitch: "Community Witch is an unapologetically trope-y, cozy, and relationship-driven romance story about the healing from trauma, found family, and joyful queer relationships."
Also two of the 3 romantic leads have anxiety
Also also one of the romantic leads is demisexual
It's cozy contemporary fantasy with all kinds of mythological creatures
Currently I'm pretty active posting about WIPs, writing exercises, and side projects, including the sequel to the first book, which I'm currently editing, and has two Big Neurodivergent Big Gay protagonists who are complete dumbasses and I'm having so much fun with the characters, if not the actual editing
Book 1 characters (my art):

Book 2 dumbasses (also mine):

writers, listen up...
i've fallen out of touch with the writeblr community a lot in the past few years, and i want to rectify that. the community aspect was what made me fall in love with tumblr, and what improved my writing for the better.
the golden days of my writing were when i was highly active and engaged in this wonderful community, but life and work and the horrors of self publishing have overtaken my energy in the past year. however, i have been really struggling with original writing, and i want to get back into the community here.
that said...
you write fantasy with queer characters
