Kim Novak and ‘Pyewacket’ in the Columbia Pictures/Richard Quine supernatural comedy-drama Bell, Book and Candle, 1959. A dozen Siamese cats appeared in the film as the magical Pyewacket, and Kim was offered to adopt the one she grew fond of and bonded with the most when production wrapped, which she happily accepted. Novak decided to keep the name Pyewacket, and the cat contentedly lived with her for many years at her home in Bel Air and then at her ocean-side retreat in Big Sur, California.
