I didn't think much of it. Just had a thought that it would be very nice if Steve's response to trauma was less 'suppress the shit out of everything and pretend everything is normal' and more 'cut his hair after a breakdown and reinvent his wardrobe, his whole identity even.'

Post-S01!Steve AU: Punk Edition
Eddie has a crush and he's not very happy about it?
He already had one gay panic over Steve before, he doesn't want a repeat performance.

The point of Canon Divergence for punk!Steve: his first encounter with the Upside Down was nearly fatal. A lot harder to ignore the ghost in your pool when you have a scar that reminds you of it 24/7.

Steve and Robin in my Punk AU, because each AU I make will have them as platonic soulmates, it is non-negotiable.

What first hooked you into the Punk!Steve AU?
I don’t remember what exactly hooked me.
I made punk!Steve sometime in 2019? Around that time. The kicker is that I didn’t actually know it was punk. Or at least, what it meant exactly.
I just thought, hey, wouldn’t it be fun if Steve was fucked up enough that he went through an identity crisis of sorts? And communicated the major upheaval of his life and all the trauma it caused through his appearance? And people noticed?
I’ve revisited the AU recently and looked up what punk meant and things just started clicking into place.
