Kara is silent. lena isn't sure that she has ever seen her friend like this. Not going about something she saw in the park, or the dog that the nice lady in the park had let her pet.

No, just silent.

Like the kryptonian is too scared to say anything. Like she is trying to make herself appear smaller, as if the dim light of the tower could just make her disappear. She's standing between her friends and her, surprisingly live father. The young reporter has every reason to be happy, and yet...

When Lena meets her best friend later, alone and with calmed nerves, she asks: "Is everything okay?"

And Kara barely even looks at her. The once brightly shining blue eyes filled with dread and a sensation of grieve that Lena had never seen before.

"No." Not just Kara is trying to be small, her voice can almost be counted as a whisper, barely audible.

"I saw what could happen, and I am terrified that all those things", she spits out the last word with disgust written on her face. "-could come true."

Kara finally looks at Lena. "I can't lose my family. Not Alex, not J'onn. No one. Especialy not you!"

And the young Luthor does the only thing that comes to her mind. She stretches out her hand and takes Kara's slim but undeniably powerful one into her own.

"You won't lose me!"

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Kara chuckles. For the first time since the kryptonian had entered the tower Lena can hear the sound she had missed so dearly. Her friends voice is raspy, and there is sadness to it, but it stil counts.

"A Luthor and a Super, who would have thought?"

Lena smiles and continues to draw circles onto Kara's hand while they fly back to earth.

"You know, I think this might just be the beginning."

And Kara nodds. "Definitely. The future is far ahead."
