Couple little things about this post I want to add, although I agree with most of it (except the tan thing that’s all u babe)
- When QToey had the fight I’m pretty sure it was clarified that the only thing that Q finds out is about Milkfrappe boy/Pencil senior. He doesn’t find out the part where Toey currently has a crush on him or that his friends were scheming to set him up.
(Still don’t like that they went with the making him jealous tactic and that he didn’t get mad at them or anything bc if it was me it would have been a fucking shitshow)
- Yeah sure Tan is kinda cringe but just because Fang used to get into fights doesn’t mean he can’t get pampered? He obviously seems to be the one who took care of his friends problems when in high school. And he’s still very supportive of them but a lot of people have been speculating that Phum and Fang have been pretty neglected and didn’t get a lot of care/attention growing up. So while Fang may not outwardly appreciate it I don’t think that it’s something he hates? Let the man get his boyfriend to take care of him, he deserves it.
We Are - Episode 10
I’m not usually a fan of slow burn romances (too impatient) but I’m enjoying the way Phum and Peem’s relationship has gone so far. Prior to the series airing, I was expecting Phum to have been in love with Peem before the whole football/painting fiasco but it seems, so far at least, that this isn’t the case, which is probably why I can deal with the slow burn. The last couple of episodes in particularly have been very well done for this pairing, particularly Phum’s jealous and inability to communicate his feelings to Peem. Very in character with what we’ve seen/discovered about him so far.
I also like that for Peem he’s taken his time to realise that he’s grown to like Phum as more than a friend. It was very clear at the beginning of the series that he didn’t want to be around Phum and if the slave deal hadn’t been in play, he’d have left Phum in the distance long ago. However, with the slave deal, it forced him to be around Phum and slowly get to see who he really is, to fall for him in a way that he never expected. It wouldn’t have made sense, given the start to their relationship, for Peem to just accept it straightaway, so to see him gradually go through the stages from enemy to friend to crush and now to boyfriend (when it comes) has made their arc enjoyable and well worth what turned out to be a slower build-up than the earlier episodes suggested.
Q and Toey are still so adorable together. I’m glad to see that their feelings are now out in the open - although this should have been done episodes ago when Q found out the truth about Toey’s feelings for him. I also like that despite the change from friends/mentor & mentee to boyfriends (again, label officially coming soon), they still have the teasing banter/playfulness that has been a big selling point in how much I’ve loved this pairing.
This might be an unpopular opinion but Tan is starting to annoy me. His whole overprotectiveness towards Fang is just getting absurd. Not wanting his boyfriend to take his shirt off at the waterfall I could accept as him not wanting anyone to see his body, that’s fine but the whole not letting him do anything when they’re sorting out the classroom, getting jealous of Fang being worried about his brother is ridiculous. We’ve discovered that Fang used to fight, that he’s not afraid to defend his friends if he thinks it’s necessary so why are the writers making him out to be a damsel in distress that needs his boyfriend to save him? On the other side, kudos to whoever shot the footage of them in the waterfall as that was a stunning piece of imagery of two very wet and handsome men!
I still need more Chain and Pun. All the little crumbs we get of these two has me hungry for more. Please tell me next week’s episode is going to be the one where they really crank up their relationship! I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting that perhaps Chain and Pun are already in a relationship but have kept it hidden from everyone and I can see where this opinion comes from with some of their interactions. I wouldn’t be mad if this was the case especially as very early on, I said I’d love it if someone asked them how long they’ve been together and Chain replied they weren’t but Pun gave a very specific time. Even if they’re not already together, I get the feeling that they might have crossed the line between friends and lovers a little, particularly when they’ve been drinking and although both like the other, they haven’t said anything because they’re worried about their effect on their friendship because something only happens when they’re drunk so they believe the other can’t possibly reciprocate their feelings. I’m probably way off with these two and due to my obvious Chain/Pun bias, trying to give them a bigger storyline than we’re probably going to get!
We are the series ships as parents part 1
Phum/Peem
have the strict (but still kind and loving) dad in Peem x Spoils you rotten dad in Phum
they have a very beautiful daughter who is well adjusted, kind and somewhat hyperactive.
Phum drives this girl wherever she wants to go all the time no matter the circumstances. He is always just a phone call away.
She grew up loving music and wants to be a famous musician, she learnt how to play guitar from her uncle Q.
She uses Peem’s artwork as the cover of her albums.
She loves the beach and visiting her grandparents in Chiangmai, and she always invites way too many friends.
On any given day Phum/Peem can open the front door of their own home to see upwards of 3 teenagers in their house, who definitely do not live there.
She finds herself in a very gay friend group, like her fathers before her.
She cooks about as well as Peem does, without any of the self awareness, because Phum will always eat whatever she makes him.
She’s got trouble sleeping, so sometimes Peem makes hot chocolate late at night for the two of them and they chat away for hours, sitting out on the porch, wrapped up in a blanket, until she finally falls asleep in Peem’s arms. Peem carries her to her bedroom and tucks her in gently. Before heading back to Phum, who’s up waiting for him.
She’s very athletic, and has been enrolled in Muay Thai classes since she was a kid and is definitely down to fight for her friends.
Okay that’s about as many as I can think of atm. I’ll try to continue with other couples as well. For me Qtoey and TanFang have a much stronger childless energy but I can also see them being amazing with kids, so Im open to suggestions about them and anyone else.
I have this weird sense of emptiness when I reach the late end of a Wednesday night and realise we are is no longer airing. Leaves me craving something to fill the space it used to take up with SOMETHING.

I see a lot of people afraid that never let me go the series is gonna have a sad ending bit it seems like yall forget they're gonna be in our skyy2 and also the fact that (as far as I've seen) a gmm bl has never really had a sad ending? If I'm wrong about that feel free to correct me 😭😭
For the never let me go side ship ben and chopper I've seen two very interesting theories on how their relationship will go
The first theory I saw was:
Due to jealousy chopper with work with his father to take down neungdiao and his family and eventually ben will eventually find out and gets upset over it causing chopper to realize what he did was rough and therefore having his redemption arc
This theory most like comes from the common "mafia/rich boy will get jealous and do bad things because of it then the person they care for/loves finds out and gets mad and only then do they realize what they've done wrong." Trope they often do for side pairings and/or rich x poor ships. Though you'll find many different versions of it, the trope isn't really hard to find.
Personally, I hope they don't go this route. It could be an interesting storyline if done right, but it's done often, and it's hard to pull that off nowadays without it being predictable and unmoving.
So far, going that route would seem out of character for chopper as (from what we've seen so far) he's a lot like neungdiao. I'm the sense that he controls his emotions. He's different from neung because he doesn't put distance between himself and others to protect his emotions it seems more like he hides everything from everyone.
An example of this is when he comes up to palm after class - he introduced himself and offered to help palm despite the fact that palm is clearly a beginner. At this point, I don't think Chopper knows that Palm is working with neungdiao or his family- he just wants to help out the new kid.
He has also stated that he doesn't want to compete with neung I believe this is not only because he's seen what happens when family is put against eachother with his uncle and father but also because he seems to dislike confrontation and violence. He's also not shy about letting his father know he doesn't like it either.
For example, the scene where his father hurts someone:
Obviously, I use this scene not because he looked away; we would probably all do that unless desensitized to it. But because after all is said and done, he confronts his father about it. He tells his father that he thinks it's too cruel and he says that he doesn't want to fight for neungdiaos role in the family; he wants to do it himself (probably so he can do it without the violence)
In conclusion, I don't think Chopper will join his father just because he is jealous over ben. I think he'd need a much bigger motivator to go against his dislike for the violence his father brings and the fact that he doesn't want to compete with neung at all.
The second theory is a lot more interesting to me as I don't think I've seen it done in this setting/capacity before:
Ben is the one doing bad things to get what he wants from neungdiao, and chopper finds out and doesn't understand or condone what ben is doing
I've already stated that I don't think Chopper likes the violence his family comes with and I think that backs up this theory: the fact that he wouldn't be ok with ben hurting someone to get what he wants (emotionally or physically).
Ben is extremely suspicious to me due to the fact that he says multiple times that he doesn't want anything from neungdiao and seems to be overly sensitive if someone accuses him of it. Not only that, but he only started trying to become friends with neung after his father passed away: when neungdiao is at his most vulnerable and has the most power he's ever had.
On the other hand you could argue that he's only getting close to him now because he has just lost his close friend chopper (I'll come back to this later in the post) and wants a friend he knows he has something in common with- music! Or that he didn't 'wait' until neungdiao's father passed, but he talked to him in the hope he could become a comfort to him while he's grieving his father. Both are valid arguments, and I don't think we have enough information about who ben is as a person to really decide which it is yet.
From what we have seen, I've come to the conclusion that even if ben is using neungdiao for something at this point in time, he hasn't started yet and genuinely wants to be his friend. though maybe what he wants out of neung is to be his boyfriend because it seems our boy has a little crush (poor chopper)
Another reason I have stated is because he has just lost his close friend chopper. It is said during ep 2 that ben wasn't the one who pulled away and basically ended their friendship but chopper. Though it seems like ben didn't really want the friendship to end.
I say this because the two have a genuine and cheerful conversation between the two before chopper asks ben what he wants from neung.
I feel the reason why he was much more offended when Chopper asked then when neung did is because Chopper was a close friend. Someone who should know that ben would never use another person to get what he wants (that we know of wink wink) but not only was this a close friend asking but one who has essentially diched him since he became class president (so probably the start of the year)
To finish off my thoughts on this theory I'd say that neither of these theories seems very likely based of the information we have from these first two episodes- of course my opinions could change depending on how these characters progress through the series. As of right now, it looks like these two theories are extremely out of character for both chopper and ben but we'll have to see how the characters grow before I say if I do or don't believe in either of them.
So now that I've said all I could over these two theories with information I've got from the two episodes that are out all I want to say is- I demand the palm + chopper friendship and neung + chopper family bonding time <3

and chopper my love my baby boy I s2g if anything bad happens to him I might break down and cry!!! And get his father OUT OF HERE that man terrifies me not only for neung and his mom but also for chopper himself my man's seems low key scared of his dad and its understandable!!!
Ben you sus bitch the more you're telling people to trust you the LESS I trust you!? Not only that but neung asked you not to talk about the fact that palm is protecting him and the first thing you do is tell palm you know?! Not to mention you're (unintentionally or intentionally we don't know yet) breaking choppers heart!!
Also chopper being low key friends with neung and high key friends with palm <3
PALM HAS A MOM!?!? Also apparently the novel is based on the drama rather than the other way around which is interesting 🤔
