fun headcanon: MC comes to Alola speaking little to no Alolan (Hawaiian?) and can only talk to people who speak Kantonese(or Japanese because most regions are japan based) like Mom or Professor Kukui.
When they meet Hau they can’t talk at all, so over time they make a pseudo-sign language, made of gestures, some words, and inside jokes. Soon they get Lillie in on it, and later use Rotomdèx to translate.
(Bonus points: Lillie knows a little Japanese from getting homeschooled and living with the Professor, she tutors MC.)

After 3 hours of cutscenes, I was able to get my 2nd team member, Roxy!!
After a catching zorua, I got a neat haircut! It looks like my hair in real life!
Defeated totem raticate, that wasn’t hard, but I know for a fact the game is gonna get harder.
After defeating totem raticate, I got my 3rd team member, a charmander that quickly evolved into a charmeleon!
I know the charmander line, especially charizard gets a lot backlash due to how much it’s love gotten since gen 6, but it doesn’t really bother too much personally, although I can totally understand why people find it annoying.
