Fanstastic Baes And Where To Find Them ~
Rant about Percival Graves fanfic
Okay, so I stumbled upon some Percival Graves fanfic in my feed. Naturally I was curious as to who this Percival Graves character was and lo and behold, it was Colin Farrell from Fantastic Beasts. So I dug in deeper, and they were so many of them, like a lot. A LOT. All of them were either a smut or how the dashing Graves rescued the new intern who is quite timid, or Graves is taken off guard by the brazenness of the OC. This pissed me off. It pissed me off though it shouldn’t have. I should actually be happy that he is getting popular among younger audience too and here’s why:
Let’s get some background on him. Colin Farrell is a great actor. He is among the few Irish actors well known in Hollywood. He has acted in many English tv shows and films in his starting career. After that he went to Hollywood and few of his starting movies tanked (though his first movie was critically acclaimed). He got his recognition when he worked with Spielberg on Minority Report. Then he went on to work in other good films. The ones I have personally watched are Minority Report, Phone Booth, The Recruit, In Bruges, Total Recall, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Lobster, Cassandra’s Dream and True Detectives (tv show). Now I know they are not a lot but they are all in which he really presented his skills. It is also understandable that not everyone has watched his films and for a person to become a fan of an actor he/she has to start somewhere. But the ones who have watched Fantastic Beasts are all teenagers and are all drooling over his one character which is not even that good!
Here comes my point, all of the Percival Graves fanfic writers are fixating over him but if you move onto some other films of Farrell, you will find some really drool-worthy stories and characters that is nothing compared to Graves. And i certainly believe that the only reason you like Percival Graves is because of Farrell and not really because you have loved the character from the book.
But like... we are so pitiful...

We give him personality and imagine how he'd act in different situations!
We are so hopeless...

What if Credence meets the original Percival Graves?
Ok so I was bored last night and got thinking about the fantastic beasts movies and I had this idea, partly because the next movies is supposed to be set partly in Brazil which is my home country.
The real Percival Graves hasn’t been found by MACUSA, and he’s presumed dead. However, he’s actually imprisoned in Nurmengard. Credence is wandering around the castle one day and he comes across Percival. Credence freaks out a bit because he didn’t realize Graves was an actual person, he thought he was just a persona Grindelwald made up. Graves notices him and he’s like “so you’re Grindelwald’s newest project.” and Credence is confused because “what do you mean ‘project’???” So Graves tells him that Grinldelwald came down to boast to about have managed to trick an American Obscurial into working for him partly using his impersonation of Graves. Credence gets mad and thinks he’s lying at first so he storms off. But then he starts to notice that for all of Grindelwald’s talk about how much he cares for Credence, he really treats Credence more like a weapon than a person, let alone an ally. So he goes back to where he found Percival the first time, and this time Percival is really beat up and barely conscious and Credence is horrified. So he starts planing his escape. he’s been learning oclumency so he’s desperately hoping it’s enough to keep Queenie from noticing. It isn’t but she also sees why he wants to escape and she’s as horrified as he was, if not more so because she knew Percival. He was her big sister’s mentor and boss. She’s heard tons about him from Tina, so she knows he’s a good man, if a bit grumpy. So she starts helping Credence. They plan and plan, and when Grindelwald goes on a raid without either them, they make a break for it with Percival in tow. Credence’s original plan was to catch a boat straight to America, but Queenie points out that Grindelwald will expect that, so they catch a boat to Brazil and plan to go to America from there. They run into Newt and co. in Brazil and end up helping with whatever shenanigans they’ve gotten into, but Grindelwald sees them.
I couldn’t decide what the result of that would be other than either Percival, Queenie, Credence, or Jacob would probably get killed. (Lets face it J.K. Rowling isn’t going to let all of the squad live, this is the woman that killed all of Harry’s reliable adults except Hagrid who lacks common sense a lot of the time. Not to mention that she not only killed Fred, but killed him without George, forcing George to live without his beloved twin for the rest of his life)
What do you guys think would happen?
