It's done.
It's done, just like every other loop where they took down the Sadness together. It's done!!! There's nothing wrong this time. Nothing!
So what if he felt like the dagger cut through too easily? So what if the fight went by too fast? Their family members haven't even batted an eye! They didn't notice anything different!!! They didn't blinding notice anything—
...
They squeeze their eye shut. His mouth tastes faintly of burnt sugar.
Just... breathe in... and out. Don't shudder. They can't draw attention like this. They can't show their family members something is wrong.
Just. Breathe.
...
They turn back to the others, a bright smile plastered on his face.
"See? We'll get to the King in no time!"
No time at all.
2. What do you think is the worst possible way to die? - For Siffrin! (Perhaps they'd like to speak from experience..?)
(From an "ask my muse about death" meme from. A couple weeks ago dgshsf)
Ask My Muse About Death

For a moment, Siffrin's smile freezes in place. Their gaze briefly darts around, as if searching the area for an answer. Nothing is there, of course; nothing has or will change since the last time he was here. But this isn't part of the script—or, at least, they don't remember it being a part.
(Did they know? No one outside the loop's supposed to be able to know. That can't be possible.)
(Maybe it was just a passing question? Some sort of curiosity? It's a really morbid one if that's the case, but it's not like the others haven't said something similar before.)
But the strain is there and gone in a moment—quick enough to maybe fool the less keen into thinking they imagined it. A hint of nervousness still lingers in their voice, but even that's faint enough to be waved away.
"Death's got to be awful. So picking the worst of the worst's gotta feel like a really..."
Their grin becomes shit-eating.
"...grave decision."
But even with the pun, the smile fades a little as they look away.
"But the King's going to be defeated tomorrow. Everything's going to be okay again! There's no need to think about that stuff!!!"
(None at all.)
14. Have you ever seen someone die (but you didn’t cause it)? - For Siffrin!
(Also from that "ask my muse about death" meme)

"Umm, well..."
Fingers drum against the hilt of his dagger in an erratic, almost-panicked tap-tap—taptaptap.
Maybe they had? Before ending up in this situation? Their memory's pretty hazy when it comes to that... but seeing someone die had to be up there on the list of "things really blinding hard to forget."
There were the Sadnesses, technically; they've killed plenty of those. But Sadnesses weren't people—just the grief left behind. Killing them didn't count; they tended to just reform anyway, so it's not really as if they were gone-gone.
Then, in the loops...
The tapping stops. The smile they always seem to wear fades into something a little more somber as he dips his hat down and covers part of their face in the collar of their cloak.
He and his friends allies family members had some bad run-ins with Sadnesses, and then the King... but Siffrin had never actually seen any of the others die before they could. And then, when he died, time turned back to when everyone was safe and okay and nothing beyond the country freezing was wrong. That can't possibly count as witnessing a death. It couldn't! Those never happened, anyway; how could that count?
A soft puff of air ruffles the cloak's collar.
"...I don't think so..."
“You’ll be rewarded for your efforts if you keep trying.” - For Sif?

That's the hope, isn't it? Try and try and try again until something works, and the loops are over and done, and everyone can just... go. Go on their separate ways. It's what they want, after all.
Right? They always talk about going home. They've said he's always welcome to visit, but he can read the room. They want to go home. They don't want to travel anymore.
They don't want him.
And what kind of a reward is that? To be left alone, after doing everything they can to make sure everyone is safe and okay and gets through this without needing to worry? It's unfair! It's so blinding unfair! They don't want to have to say goodbye to their family. They don't want to be left behind.
But that's so selfish of them to think!! That's cruel!!! Manipulative!!! If they could just hear his thoughts now!
Their smile twitches, momentarily wavering before Siffrin shakes their head like he's trying to clear water from his ears.
"And that's why I have to keep trying!"
Because what other option is there?
