This is the thing that Viserys never did for Aegon. And Aegon did not study at the feet of his father. His father had his male heir and then essentially said, βWell, that box is ticked,β he was ill. I think he enjoyed having a son but didnβt put in the work the way he did with Rhaenyra when he was a younger man. And I think Aegon resents that and feels that part of the reason that heβs not seen as being suited for the crown or the throne is because he didnβt get that training from his father. So now heβs going to make up for that tenfold with Jaehaerys.

Aegon & Emotions
Aegon is not able to identify emotions. This is in part because he does not fully understand them, and in part because he was never truly taught about them. Emotions were not something that were taught about by the Septas, Septons or Maesters who handled the education of himself and his younger siblings. As a result he is unable to identify the emotion of guilt, and unable to differentiate hurt/betrayal from anger.
He tries his best, but because he had no basis to compare many emotions to he often fumbles with them. This can lead to remarks that can be seen as callous, or inappropriate. He also cannot regulate his emotions as a result of this, as he doesn't know which ones he should bottle up and which ones he needs to address. When he feels, he feels with his whole being, but he cannot control or explain the emotions that he feels.

TOM GLYNN CARNEY about AEGON II TARGARYEN HOUSE OF THE DRAGON (2022-) β³02x02 "Rhaenyra the Cruel"
We all know the HoTD writers are infamously anti Aegon and its shown constantly in the writing. Iβm sure that him struggling with High Valyrian was meant as another dig at him to prove heβs unworthy but in doing so they accidentally proved he has an incredibly strong bond with Sunfyre.
Aegon obviously taught Sunfyre in a different and completely unexpected way, his commands are in the common tongue. He trained a dragon to obey something other than Valyrian; a feat in itself.

Divergence of Rook's Rest and High Valyrian ft Aemond
Aegon does struggle with High Valyrian, but only in it's pronunciation. As a Targaryen Prince, even though he was not closely monitored in his teachings, he was expected to speak in the native tongue of his family. They were not as strict on his speaking or pronunciation but they did ensure that he could write, and write well in Valyrian.
His speaking of Valyrian being shit is the reason why he trained Sunfyre to respond to his commands in Common Tongue, a feat that none of the dragonkeepers thought possible. It was one of Aegon's proudest moments. Because of his issues with speaking it Aegon was still quite uncomfortable when Aemond spoke in Valyrian in front of the Small Council, but he did not sound like a complete idiot.
In regards to Rook's Rest, the reason that Aegon looked so unsteady and unsure of himself upon Sunfyre is solely due to the amount of wine in his system. He usually is quite adept at flying on dragon back. This is because of one of the many places where he feels that he can get away from everything is on dragonback.
Aegon and Sunfyre were shot out of the sky by RHAENYS AND MELEYS, not Aemond and Vhagar. This is a fact that is non-negotiable on this blog for both Aegon and Aemond. As much as Aegon annoys Aemond, Aemond is loyal to the Greens and would not kinslay on the side that he is a part of.

Aegon & Autistic Traits
Aegon's autism presents itself far differently than Helaena, as he falls on a different spot of the spectrum. His autism presents it's self most with his lack of emotional control and comprehension. As I stated in another post, Aegon doesn't really know how to process or read emotions. This is why he doesn't seem to realize how much his words and actions hurt Aemond as they were growing up. This is why he feels things so explosively, resulting in his rage and destruction when he is upset and grieving.
Another autistic trait that Aegon has that is less apparent is texture based, mostly with food and drink. Thick drinks, drinks that have lumps in them, over stimulate him and he is instantly trying to spit them out. This is part of the reason that he cannot handle milk-of-the-poppy, especially after his long injury following Rook's Rest as he was not given a choice and he was made to drink an unsafe drink. This also is evident in food. Food, especially fruits or vegetables, that are soft are things that he spits out immediately. He cannot handle cooked vegetables or many types of melons, though for the melons it is because they feel bubbly.
Aegon's final autistic trait is auditory. He is fine with loud noises, unless they are repetitive or continuous. As such he can get overwhelmed by the tolling of bells, for example. Arguments that last for too long can also overwhelm him. Another auditory trait that he has is at times he has echolalia. This is something he has done his best to keep under control but when he is distracted it can manifest. As a result, his echolalia can sometimes be taken as him mocking someone.
