--Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind-- debuted on the 3rd month which is PISCES season. I interpret this as the ASCENDANT, setting the placements of the characters which are interpreted as PLANETS. The characters move through the story like Planets transit through a chart. The lessons portrayed in the story are rooted in an overall theme, which reflects to me a natal placement rooted in a chart: The SUN. For example:
The theme of ESSP revolves around; attraction, romanticism and unreality. This reflects to me themes of NEPTUNE. So while each character experiences the lessons of this theme, they express it in different ways... The characters revolve around the theme (as in natal NEPTUNE) while they express the story (chart.) So the lesson they learn, represents to me as the natal SUN placement.
JOEL believes that relationships afford him space to be vulnerable = NEPTUNE in the 7th house. He is learning to find value in his own emotionality = SUN in the 4th house. CLEMENTINE believes that love is to be defined on her own terms = NEPTUNE in the 5th house. She is learning to trust within healthy relationships = SUN in the 8th house.

When I think of Neptune in the fifth house I think of Cirque du Soleil. Mystical and magical, strange and otherworldly expressions of creativity that startle the senses and transport us to the cosmos, vaporous and weightless. The 5th house generates the spotlight, piano keys, laughter, children, romance, and sunshine. The creative mind and spirit is activated and plays with everything it touches. Neptune is glamorous and bedazzling by nature, so she relishes amongst the lights and sounds of the 5th house. The individual born under this starry array will seek to lose themselves in the swirls of a paintbrush, the lyrics of song, the petals of romance, and the ballad of theatre. The individual can perceive themselves as being an illusive character in the play of life, starring in their own divine showcase, idealising everything from love to their own self image. This is curious mask makeup, role play in sexual fantasy, and music written in psychotic states.
The individual with Neptune in the fifth desires a colourful sexual life. Romantic experiences can be secret, spiritual, and sexually evocative. All infusions of fantasy and wonder activate in love. Time spent with children is delightful for Neptune in the 5th. Make believe fairy tales are not so pretend, and the individual easily engages in play and imagination. The opportunity to create new life and hold a newborn may be a pinnacle desire of existence. It’s like cradling the essence of immortality and infinity. There is a hypnotic, almost bewitching romantic influence with Neptune in the 5th that seduces people in illusive webs of wonder and elusion. But Neptune can of course be deceptive, so the individual can be consuming in terms of romance, constantly seeking partners and intimacy and sex but never feeling fulfilled. Chasing unavailable or forbidden romance can also lead to destruction, they can follow impulses of pure fantasy.
Neptune in the 5th is like a microcosm of the divine, creative source. This is the creative spirit that births all material and non material substance. The inner child of Neptune in the 5th is an extension of heaven. Rainbow baths of delight soak the individual in a play of life that follows mysterious and mystical storylines. The dream becomes art with Neptune in the 5th, and inspiration flows into waterfalls of mesmerising creativity. There is a genuine magic sought in the world, the eyes of a child cloak the individual’s world in pastel hues of sensation. Abandoning the world can be the game of life, they are constantly playing hide and seek with the invisible. Inspiration is a paintbrush guided by the golden hand of God, the love child of spells and sparkle, the ultimate entrancing puzzle.
