summary: jaemin’s the heart-mender now that you got your heart broken by another  word count: 371 words  

“oh…shit.” 

jaemin could feel the color draining from his face. you were on your knees and hunched over, sobs wrecking your body. this was a sight jaemin had never, ever wanted to see. he then noticed the long gash on your right cheek under your eye and he knelt in front of you.

“what happened?” he cupped your left cheek in his hand and you leaned into his touch. “it hurts. it hurts.” you repeated, tears streaming down your face. jaemin frantically scans you for any other wounds, “where?!” you shook your head, inching towards him. jaemin took this as a cue to hold your trembling body. 

“is love meant to hurt this…this much?” you stared back up at him, eyes conveying indescribable pain. it broke his heart to see you like this too. 

“lo-love hurts badly...” you hiccupped, moving your shaky hands to rest right above your heart. jaemin remained silent, rocking you gently and wishing he was in your place instead. 

jaemin was upset. upset that he wasn’t quick enough to confess to you, that he was a coward for not being truthful. 

jaemin was also jealous. jealous that you had eyes for another, that you had excitedly introduced your “loveable” partner to him the first thing you had gotten together. 

yet, jaemin was oddly happy. he shouldn’t be happy, not when he now had a chance when you were at your lowest. 

“i had meant nothing to them. nothing. you were right.” you squeezed your eyes shut, causing your unshed tears to cascade down your face. “he didn’t love you. that isn’t love.” jaemin finally spoke up, tilting down to gaze at you. with a steady hand under your chin, he lifted your pouting face towards him, “i couldn’t see it! i’m so frustrated! with myself!” you pushed yourself away from jaemin, wrapping your arms around your torso. 

“they’ve been manipulative and two-faced from the very start. it isn’t your fault. none of this is.” jaemin placed his hands on your shoulders, lightly gripping you. “but i…this empty feeling…i don’t know anymore.” futility was evident in the way you shrunk into yourself. jaemin lightly shushed you, hands lightly stroking your back. 

“i’ll be here till you feel better.”
