Mystery Incorporated - Tumblr Posts
On the Road, Scooby-Doo!

After the utter failure of the show that shall not be named, I have decided to create my own Scooby-Doo series.
On the Road, Scooby-Doo! takes place when the gang is either in or have just graduated college, I haven't decided yet, but during this time, their reputation has made its way to some of the most unexpected places in America, whether the Big Apple or small-town Kansas, plenty have heard of Mystery Inc. and their escapades. Shortly after the semester ends (or after graduation) the gang starts getting calls from all across the country, claiming to have a mystery and wanting to hire Mystery Inc. to solve their cases. So, the gang sets out on the road to solve America's mystery's.
I tried to combine the recognizable designs of each member of Mystery Incorporated from different media.
Fred's design combine's Classic Fred with What's New Fred, adding a jacket with orange details from A Pup Named Scooby-Doo Fred.
Scooby's design is Classic Scooby, but with a bandana instead of a collar, and an added bit of grey around the eyes due to everyone being a bit older.
Shaggy's design is basically Classic Shaggy but with Apocalypse Shaggy's flannel combined with 80s Shaggy's red shirt, adding Live Action Shaggy's brown pants and What's New Shaggy's sneakers.
Daphne's design is a bit uninspired due to her outfit almost never changing, so I took Classic Daphne's outfit, added a collar and belt inspired from Scoob! Daphne, and added green double stripes just to add something different.
Velma's design is also not changed much since her outfit hasn't really changed much, taking Classic Velma's outfit and adding Apocalypse Velma's jacket.
I might write the first episode and put it on Tumblr if this gets popular enough.
Because of the Velma show, a lot of people's pitches for a new adult Scooby Doo have Fred coming from a richer, upper-class family. Now, I know that comes from Fred being Mayor Jones's adopted/kidnapped son in Mystery Inc, but we're totally missing a goldmine here.
Fred isn't like Daphne. He doesn't come from a rich family more often than not. In fact, Fred's family history is so strange and convoluted from reboots, off-hand mentions, plot twists, and straight-to-DVD movies that Fred is related to more people than my mom knows people at random restaurants.
The goldmine is that we don't know the truth about Fred's family or parents. Are they the cruise-loving Skip and Peggy Jones from "Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy!"? What about the dangerous Brad Chiles and Judy Reeves of the original Mystery Incorporated? Or what about Mayor Fred Jones Sr?! It's not that last one, but the gist is we don't know who Fred's parents actually are. Fred doesn't know who his parents actually are. You look up "Fred Jones parents" on Google, and THE TOP RESULT IS FREDDIE SHRUGGING IN THE CONFUSION AND HORROR OF IT ALL!

Nobody knows where Fred came from- not even Fred- and maybe that's how it should be...
All these obscure family members and the 5+ potential parents from his overlapping stories... the elaborate traps and random knowledge explained away offhandedly by his shady past... that perfectly happy, preppy attitude untouched by the greed of 1970s capitalists and ghouls... the ascot!
These all lead me to believe that Fred has no parents, rich or otherwise. Fred Jones is a [teenageyoungadultcollegiate] man who awoke one day from nothing, a new consciousness born of the universe, with nothing but a love of learning, a passion for solving mysteries, and a fucking groovy van to help him survive. From there, our dear Freddie made a family for himself, by traveling the world in his van, meeting new people, and picking up the weirdest interests and hobbies.
While the other members of the gang all have families and homes to go back to, Freddie has the mystery machine. That is his home, and his family are the friends he makes along the way- including Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby. Amen.
god I loved be cool scooby doo, it was so well written and has legitimate consistency and tie-ins from past episodes. and while the goofy animation did make me a little nervous it really grew on me.
I actually hated mystery inc for a while because of how seriously it took itself, because scooby doo was meant to be goofy to me.
I do appreciate mystery inc now but be cool scooby doo holds a special place in my heart
btw; fuck the velma show I hate it and how they ruined and slandered my childhood. AND THEY GOT RID OF SCOOBY- HOW CAN YOU HAVE
SCOOBY DOO
WITH NO SCOOBY?!?!?
tldr; fuck you hbo and velma show I hope you get shot
Scooby Doo fandom and the entire internet after the new Velma cartoon released:

Mystery Inc. but it’s the 1890s

Who had late Victorian Scooby Doo on their 2024 bingo card? Hmm?
The idea came to me when I was thinking about Sherlock Holmes and then remembered the iconic mystery solving gang hehe
That’s just sixties cartoons for you.

I’ve been seeing a lot of Scooby Doo on my dash lately. My friend discovered what he describes as “Shaggy eviscerating an ape”
The trailer alone is giving me Scooby Doo meets Riverdale vibes. Check it out if you're interested!

I'm not the only one who grew up with this right? (Not that I haven't seen the original, it just wasn't my favorite)

Scooby Doo Mystery Inc, an Introspective.
Daphne - The Spy
She's already been established as being the most physically inclined, a great beauty, and handilly going behind enemy lines (ie getting kidnapped); all traits of a femme fatale. in my canon, daphne really operates as the gang's Body (Wo)Man. In a crime ring she would be The Muscle. I really like the idea that Daphne is classically trained at a young age in all sports; her family may not have be as weslthy as Shaggys but theyve def made some money being world class athletes. This idea also lends itself to the idea that daph was the most well travelled before meeting Mystery Inc, her family always loved to bring her to their competitions, shes been to every Wimbledon cup, etc. While daph is well cultured and great at meeting new people, i do not think she would describe herself as an extrovert altho u cant deny shes warm and welcoming (as much as anyone in the gang is! theyre really a great group of kids). Growing up with a lot of sisters, Daphne is the one most acclimated to team work (maybe they did a lot of team sports growing up?). The reason this doesnt automatically translate to out of this world people skills is because her ability to work with others is strongly rooted in being familiar with her team. She grew up with her sisters and has been friends with Mystery Inc for a long time too; shes built up a repartee with her group and really relies on her understanding of them and their understanding of her to be as efficient as she is. In this way, she and Scooby really hold the group together. Definitely a Actions Speak Louder Than Words type which is why people who dont know her well are so willing to overlook her as a vapid prettygirl; ie when daph spots a clue shes more likely to "wow look at that!" and point rather than "hey velma that glowing orb looks really similar to the one the ghost is always haulin around" Daph and Kim Possible would be truly the unstoppable duo.
disguises, stealth, and sleight of hand
general athletics and catlike reflexes
polyglot, also designated translator
queen of networking. her sisters got their fingers in all the pies and the Blake Sisters were Daphne's first Mystery Inc :) i do not buy into Daphne having a sister complex #speakingmytruth
international relations
very well travelled, met fred on a layover?
literally james bond, ya feel?
Fred - The Mechanic
Breaking off of the 'Traps Guy' prototype that Mystery Incorporated set up for us; Fred has always been the one at the steering wheel. Everyone loves a Himbo Fred moment but i know hes capable of great specialization just like velma daph shaggy and scoob are. Hes not an air head hes just thinking about a V8 engine vs a Turbo ykno? I do want to lean into the idea that Fred works with his hands and works with contraptions (velma is the gizmo girl tho) and works with CARS and is knowledgeable about them! very, Mona Lisa from My Cousin Vinny/Rosalie from Twilight (ie gets under their car + is hot) but because i want all these kids to be multi faceted, id like to explore the other half of cars which is Travelling. in this day in age, seeing the world is so marketable which is why i can see fred being the one with biggest internet influence. More so than that, fred keeps the team on the move, books accomodations, plans the roadtrips, has the biggest thirst to see the world (maybe thats one of the things that first pulls him and daph together, shes already seen so much of it before they met) Out of the group, i think Fred has the closest relationship with his parents (i think this was shown in some of the tv shows? If not, this is my canon) Fred, despite loving to work with cold hard metal, is maybe the most deeply feeling of Mystery Inc. he really jumps on cases after meeting the people who are most severely impacted by them. This would also explain why hes so inclined to 'himbo moments', he doesnt mind making the less rational choice if it means he can help his fellow man. He and scooby are def the most socially inclined; fred bc he really cares about People (thats why hes a traveller, meeting new people is one of the fun parts!)
automotives, maintains the car (velma helped him set up his sound system) and loves a good car chase
also into planes, trains, and ships but cars are his first love
inventions
explosives
physics, hes a car guy but bikes are fascinating
social media savvy (hes so chipper and always dressed to the 9s courtesy of daph, IG eats him up). Maybe he started the Mystery Inc blog as a way to keep his family updated about what hes doing (the first People he loved was def his family) he gossips about celebrities with velma and daph
loves travelling (in his car) and posts to his gram (see above), his experience with hotels/motels/hostels/etc lets him talk extensively about hospitality with shaggy + scooby
Shaggy - The Doctor
Hear me out!!!! Norville Rogers is known to be: Concerned about his bodily safety and RICH! Tell me which profession that is besides Doctor and ill rework this whole thing. i think this really works for shaggy, hes by no means materialistic but mans has grown up with the silver spoon and can really appreciate luxurious creature comforts like quality bed linens. Like. that plain green t shirt is Hermés dont get it twisted. this also works bc as the groups highroller, we now know how this op is funded (aside from being paid for their detective work but like..we really didnt see that often. id like them to be able to do this as a fulltime hobby if they so choose) Aside from this, we know some of Shaggys other great loves are Food and Not Being Physically in Danger. I wouldnt be surprised if one of his parents or older relatives made their money as a doctor, allowing shaggy to grow up with an interest in medicine. omg id love if this doctor relative was a mentor to shaggy but also a bit of a hypochondriac; maybe shaggys scaredy cat tendencies once first started out as being a bit scared of picking up weird diseases (a trait he got from the doctor relative). In line with medicine, Shaggy is the one who pushes the team to take care of themselves and take much needed time to recuperate from the stress of solving mysteries. As an only child, he can be seen as an opposite to Daphne. She grew up with lots of siblings and became very confident in what a human body can do since there were a lot of other bodies to hang out with, play with, and catch her when she fell; shaggy grew up mostly alone, and left to his own devices, became a bit too focused and worried on the limits of the human body.
selfcare
Mystery Inc's checkbook (when appropriate)
appreciation for the finer things
healthcare
medicine, biology. daphne's go to gym buddy (shaggy really knows kinesiology)
chemistry aka alchemy, imagine the happy medium between Scoobie's love of cuisine and fred's love of ..bombs
Velma - The Professor
Velma velma velma. im kind of dropping the ball with her. i want to develop this a lil further bc i think im leaning too hard on the crutch that is Velma Is The Bookworm. Altho i do think Velma is the one most interested in non-STEM fields, id say her genius reputation is cultivated from how well rounded her knowledge base is. In terms of learnings and subject interests, Velma is the jack of all trades (opposite to daphne who is JoaT for athletics). Because of this (and because shes great at all things she puts her mind to) shes is also left with the helm of 'resident hacker'. As im typing this, maybe Velma's lack of specialization makes sense as to why she is the odd one out (daph and fred are together, shaggy and scooby are besties). Since shes so interested in so many things, theres good cause and great potential for Velma to be written as the inspired artist/free floater type. i wonder how she feels about this *thinking emoji* In that case we should make her the group's casanova (by means of manic pixi dream girl??) ?!?!?! If she *is* the poet of the group, it could also work that shes the one who writes the Mystery Inc blog (taking over from Fred who bring in the audience) Anyways, id say the key to Velma is that shes very good at making more from the sum of the parts. Her ability to put the pieces together also makes her the teams True detective, not fred. It just makes more sense imo that Velma really is the one who is pushing the team to find and close cases. Obviously everyone in Mystery Incorporated has strong convictions on Right and Wrong but i think Velma cares about bringing people to justice because she really sees the beauty in, and believes in, the idea that things should be fair and equal. Really the Brain to Fred's Heart (within the group dynamics)
Trivia in general but special interest in humanities trivia
history, talks a lot about international cuisine with daph + scoob
hardware and software, and talks gadgets with daph + fred
statistician and mathematics aficionado
forensic sciences
law
very up to date with popular culture, from the anthropologic perspective. watches the most reality tv, tv in general, and movies; its interesting, documentaries are informative, and she likes to keep it on as white noise while researching
business, finance, and economics. thats how she knows all the business bad guys on sight (during the reveal), she also handles the group finances with shaggy
Scooby - The Chef
Scooby! The team mascot! Firstly, scoob is Shaggys *best* friend. It makes sense to me that their interests overlap so much. Scooby has always been known to be a big eater (he *is* a great dane...) but my mans is CULTURED. He eats a lot but its never slop. Given Shaggys keen awareness of the importance of health and wellness, im not surprised that scooby has combo-ed that influence with his own love of the culinary arts. Shaggy and scooby have definitely known each other the longest; so how ever old the gang were when they met, in my canon Shaggy and Scooby were the first to become friends and it shows. But obviously theyre all friends, and to the group id say scooby is the hearth (not heart) of the operation as any great relationship starts with a plate of good food. Quiet moments of deep inner contemplation will often happen at Scoobys side and scooby, consciously or not, really provides a place for everyone to be themselves. We've seen that scooby is a golden hearted goof ball, i think this could be sourced from a highly admirable sense humility (ironic since hes the only non human of the group?) Great danes are known to be fierce protectors, and even tho (like shaggy) scoob is a scaredy cat, when push comes to shove he would really show up for his people. Thats why hes so cautious! He really doesnt like seeing his friends in risky situations! My hot take is that *Scooby* is the people person/social butterfly of the group! This whole cast is a band of mis fits, having a dog makes Mystery Inc much more approachable to outsiders. Scooby, being a dog, is great at warming hearts to him and loves to be at the center of attention. In regards to mystery solving, hes also invaluable as a clue finder since his senses are so highly developed.
super sniffer, works the most directly with velma on cases
cooking (bonds with shaggy + daphne over this but for dif reasons)
people person, gets along real well with daphne's sisters (everyone loves dogs)
very much looks after the gang and motherhens them, hates seeing them walk into danger
zoology (obvious i know)
General Notes
Shaggy and Daphne are the two in the gang who are really Of The Body (shaggys understanding of its inner workings, Daphne being the peak form of a human specimen), while Fred and Velma are Of The Mind (Fred who works with calculations inventions etc and Velma who is a lifelong all rounder academic)
Another dichotomy is that Daphne and Fred are the pragmatic pair while Shaggy and Velma are the theoretic pair
But in general i think a lot of the team has a lot of interests that overlap which keeps them tightly bonded
As a horror blog, just want to make a gentle reminder to Scooby Doo fans,
Don't hate watch Velma, let YouTubers do that for you. Watch Mystery Incorporated instead and remember what they took from you.
YouTube: So I know that HBO has massacred your boy Fred.
Me:......And?
YouTube: So as an apology for it here's a little treat just for you courtesy of YouTube recommendations.
Me: Finally......some delicious fucking food.

SCOOBY-DOO & THE CURSE OF THE 13TH GHOST (Dir: Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton, 2019).
Scooby-Doo Where are You! debuted on US TV network CBS in the late summer of 1969 and was an instant success for creators Joe Ruby and Ken Spears and producers Hanna-Barbera. This recent Warner Bros Animation effort is the continuation and conclusion of the 1985 series The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, a short-lived series which premiered in September 1985 in which Mystery Inc teamed up with the mystical Vincent Van Ghoul in order to capture 13 ‘real’ spirits accidentally released from a magic chest by Scooby. Drawing criticism from those who accused the show of endorsing the occult, the show was cancelled before the season end and the final pesky paranormal entities were never captured.
Here we find Mystery Inc on the verge of retirement following the bungling of a recent case when the gang are contacted, via a crystal ball, by old friend and associate Vincent Van Ghoul. Van Ghoul is eager to find the 13th missing spirit and the gang are once again on a ghost hunt. This time around there is no janitor in a rubber mask as the ghosts are real! Or are they? A skeptical Velma is out to prove to the gang that 'ghoul' is not always how it appears.

I just really wanna talk about Scooby Gang x The Fruity Four parallels

As we all know there are a bunch of parallels to be made with the two groups, even the actors said that they would joke about it whenever they have scenes together. However something that I always get a little stuck thinking about, is how people view this character and how the matches doesn't seem quite right in my books tbh.
Of course that the obvious matches are easy to go by at first, putting the girls as the girls and the boys as the boys. I'm not saying that you shouldn't view this in the way you want to, or think is the best, you don't even have to agree with me in all this. Is just that in my perspective, isn't it more fun to just go deeper into this thing?
Cause, even if the physical parallels aren't quite right, if we talk about it only in an character analysis basis, to me it makes no sense for Nancy to be Daphne, Steve to be Fredd, Robin to be Velma, and Eddie to be Shaggy.

So I'm gonna give you guys my personal opinions about who should be who:
Nancy is definitely Velma. They are the smart ones, the ones who holds more information about stuff, the ones that comes up with a plan at the spot, and the most observant of the group. They are quick thinkers and resourceful. They know where to look for clues, where to look for information, and who to talk to first. Both Velma and Nancy are viewed like the nerdy miss perfects, but they are also both very ambitious young ladies that are always proving to everyone how badass they can also be, and how well they can hold themselves alone.

Steve is Daphne, not only because both are usually put aside byeveryone as just being the pretty face of the group and the dumb one, while also having their potential being looked down on, but also because they are usually the ones that don't care about being face first with danger if it's for the safety of the others/benefit of the plan. Like Daphne, Steve is very caring with everyone in the group, the one that is always making sure everybody is doing ok, the most loyal of the crew, no one gets left behind in their watch. They are both hopeless romantics, they like seeing people in love, they like seen people being happy, principally if this people are their friends. They are the mom friend through and through.

Eddie is no doubtlessly Fred. The crafts makers of the bunch, the ones who know where to get stuff, how to build stuff, how to get the group going. Let's not forget that it was Eddie the one who gave the ideas of where they could get weapons, what they could use as a vehicle, where he could hide while people were looking for him. He is a dnd master after all, so he knows how to build traps for his players, and he knows how to command and guide a group like no other. Fred is not a know it all like Velma is, but he knows his stuff much like Eddie, he might not be academically smart, but he is smart in his areas. Plus Eddie drives a van, so the parallel is somewhat there already lol.

And finally, Robin is Shaggy. And yeah, I know it may not look like it at first, but you gotta admit they are both a ball of anxiety at all times, plus they are also the ones always looking for the worst case scenarios in all situations. A lot of people look at Shaggy like he is just the scared one of the group, but Shaggy is also the person who is always there for others much like Robin is. And yes they might be scared about most things, they might even have a list about the things that scare them the most, but is not like they aren't going to help anyways even if it's against their safety principles. Their chaotic energy is usually what pushes the groups to go at the right places most of the times, even if on accident they both got a instinct for finding what the group needs, and without them alot of the times the group wouldn't be even able to move forward.

So yeah, this are all my intakes on that matter. Hope you guys like it, and let me know what you all think in the comments maybe lol. That's all I have for today.
Sometimes the dreadful little polycule are the ones that keep coming back
you and your dreadful little polycule haven't seen the last of me
