Return to Me [Klaus x Reader]

Klaus couldn't shake that terrible memory, such a deep regret. Three years ago, the night of the Great Collapse, everything about that night haunted him. Especially his last words to you, the last he had seen you.

<"[Name]! Go! We can hold him off for 1 minute and 40 seconds. Eliminate that dog and get back to us."

"Right!"

You had run off without hesitation. Right into Bradury Central.>

Klaus shuddered, guilt and regret overwhelmed him as he looked at his computer screen.

Steven's phone ringing broke the silence, and Klaus's mental storm.

"Hm? What is it Leo?" Steven was listening intently as Klaus watched, "Again? Klaus and I will be there shortly. Just don't panic."

Steven turned to Klaus, "Leo says Zapp was hit by an armored truck and flown to a hospital. But all of them were full, until a new one appeared."

Klaus couldn't hide his confusion, "You don't think its...?"

Klaus suddenly couldn't finish his sentence, instead standing abruptly and heading for the door. Steven sighed and followed behind him, Steven sincerely hoped it was, and that you were okay.......for Klaus's sake.

Standing out in front of the main building was nearly impossible for Klaus. He desperately wanted to run in and find you, make sure you were alright. Yet, he had to stay calm, for everyone's sake.

You had stuck with the hospital just case, these past three years were difficult on you. Separated from your lover, the only human really left....awake that is, and with your previous knowledge on arcane and supernatural occurrences and beings, you were heading the testing on these spores.

Yet, you couldn't help but miss Klaus, dearly. You didn't expect him to really wait around for you. And in all honesty if he had moved on, you'd be fine with that. As long as he was happy, you'd live. But you still missed him.

The door behind you opened, jarring your thoughts.

"What's this?"

A familiar voice demanded your attention. Were they really here? How? You were really back on the Earth you remembered.

"So that son of a bitch is sure to come and collect."

You picked up your notes and stepped from behind the middle column of the cocoon structure, "Doctor, language."

Dr. Estevez looked miniscule next to the two familiar men in the door. You really wanted to throw yourself at Klaus, but if you had resurfaced, then the danger was far from over.

Klaus knew that better than anyone. His heart still ached, so many questions burned in his mind. Director Magra de Grana hadn't mentioned you at all in his recount of the events, just a "huma who was already very knowledgeable", Klaus didn't want to get his hopes too high that it was you.

It didn't take long for the danger to come knocking however, the demon dog was back for his prey.

Between yourself and Dr. Estevez, it was simple work. Your Marionette Blood Threads kept the beast from hitting Zapp and allowed for easier Phantom Surgery.

"You need to work on your poker face, Fido."

"WHAT! You jerks! You think you're gonna get away with treating me like this?"

"Treating you? That's pretty rich coming from the creep that's been sucking the life out of my patients."

Klaus had to rush in as a Blood Breed descended, cutting Dr.Estevez off and scolding her. Between yourself and Klaus handling offensive distraction, Leonardo was able to get the name of the Blood Breed without Steven needing to defend him.

With the demon dog's remains being examined and the spore based cocoons being carefully dismantled, you had nothing left to really tend to at the hospital.

Klaus stood just outside, patiently waiting for the happy reunion he had (not so secretly) yearned for these past three years.

He couldn't help but stare as you walked out, stopping right in front of him.

"Sorry, I wasn't able to make it back in a minute and 40 secon--!"

Klaus suddenly cut you off with an insanely tight hug, it didn't hurt, but you had a feeling it would take more than a crowbar to pry him off. Not that you wanted to.

"You're back." It hurt your heart to hear his voice crack like that, "That's all the matters right now."

Klaus was dangerously close to tears, especially once your arms wrapped around him.

"We have a lot to catch up on."
