And here’s another scene from my Mario au! After Antasma attacked Luigi with nighmares, Mario dares to defy the bat king all alone to protect his brother! Will he succeed? No, he won’t. Mario stop being dumb and throwing yourself at danger and just run and call your party to help. You can’t just try to defeat the final boss alone halfway through the story-

In the Rise Of the Guardians AU, does Antasma 'die' in the same way that his movie counterpart does? (Also, does he have a backstory in this AU?)
About his death, I think he goes down in an AWESOME FINAL BATTLE with the brothers, who finally learned to properly combine their powers! (while the other guardians fight his army of minions.) but after that he could die like in the movie, I think it would maybe fit.
And about a backstory, well, I think unlike the other guardians, he wasn’t a human before (or a toad or beanish or whatever), but an ancestral spirit old as fear itself that grew more powerful overtime until he became the king of nightmares. But I’m open to suggestions on that

May I ask for more details about your Mario AU? Namely, the sequence of events leading up to Mario trying to fight Antasma alone after Luigi was attacked with nightmares? I live for Protective Big Brother Mario. ❤
Sure! So, in this au, Mario and Luigi are monster hunters. "Monsters" here being undead creatures such as boos and dry bones. They're known and admired as heroes all over the kingdons. One day, they were called to Roseway, a town in one of the northern kingdons, to fight a seemingly magic-induced plague of nightmares. There they met the legend of the bat king Antasma, ruler of nightmares. While part of the town saw him as a just a tale to scare children, others very much believed he was real and alive. So the brothers started to search, aided by bowser and peach. Turns out Antasma was real. And, rather than of nightmares, he fed of fear - normally causing that fear with nightmares, which caused that misconception. And he could sense fear much like some bats can sort of sense blood. So he took interest in the brothers. Mainly in Mario. Why? Because they were brave in different ways. Luigi was always scared, yet stayed and fought no matter how much his knees were shaking. Mario, on the other hand, seemed to know no fear. He was never truly scared. And Antasma wanted to feed on the fear of the man who was never scared. It would be the finest meal he would ever feast on. So he took advantage of mario's impulsive nature and put a curse on Luigi, plaguing him with nightmares. And Mario rushed to fight him as soon as he knew that was his fault, no matter how much Peach warned him not to go unprepared and alone.
After that goes terribly wrong, I guess Mario stays as Antasma's prisioner until his friends (led by a very angry Luigi) attack the castle and beat the crap out of the stupid bat
Hi guys! I took a little break from drawing and am now working on a fanart project, which I’ll (probably) start posting when it’s ready enough. For now, here’s an unrelated old concept for that Dracula au of mine bc I just tought it would be very cool to have plague doctor Mario fighting Antasma. And as a bit of lore: Luigi is a musician in this au. He usually plays the cello. Mario has that red mushroom symbol in his arm becaus it’s the symbol of life, of doctors, while Luigi has a green one as it’s the symbol of the soul, of artists.
