Magnifico Deserves Better - Tumblr Posts
Cursed Villain Magnifico Muahaha
Now let's talk about The Curse!

In the beginning, Amaya says the book's curse would control him. Later, Amaya searches the book for a way to free him from this curse. She is not looking to reduce his power, but to free him from the control, because he wouldn't cause any harm if he weren't under the curse's influence.
However, when she reads the evil book, she discovers that there is no way to break the curse.
"I am the great one and my power is greater than anything. Don’t even try." – source: Evil Book about itself.
So, Amaya simply gives up because the source is considered very reliable and she sees no other options.
"Aw, so sad, anyway"
What is this??? I can think of 2 or 3 ways to break this curse. However, no one tried anything, and after that, they acted as if he had always been like this.
Amaya could have saved the day, but instead, she acted bizarrely and without emotion. She didn't even lament. It was scary and strange.
Changing the subject, you know what’s funny? He is being controlled by an Evil Curse, but even so, he doesn’t show himself to be a real danger.
(The script weakened him so that Asha wouldn’t be defeated the moment he saw her.)
So we end up with a silly guy walking around with messy hair, playing pranks, and making jokes that only he finds funny.
The worst he did was consume wishes, which is bad, but it only made people sad. And it was easily undone later. He didn’t send anyone to the dungeons or exile either.
In the final battle, what did he do? He put his face on everything that reflected, trapped the star, created a cloud to prevent another star from being brought, painted the place with rose thorns (without actual thorns) with magic slime, and stuck people to the ground.

His attacks only pushed people without causing any damage. When he was losing, he released green smoke on people. No one even coughed.
(Oh Look! They could have broken the curse here but they chose to wish for ''something more'' for themselves.)

He squeezed Asha with magic and threw her to the ground. He didn’t threaten to push Asha off the tower like any normal villain would.
He also doesn’t attack Asha for revenge when he realizes he lost. And she was right there next to him.
Then, when he was trapped in the mirror he didn't seem so cursed anymore, what happened? idk
No one cared about him anyway.
Sooo... what was he planning to do with all the accumulated power? He didn’t have a clear objective. He didn't even say he wanted to conquer other lands or do anything.
What if no one had done anything in the end? What would he do?
I think he would vent his frustrations with a speech, maybe a reprise of "This is the thanks I get?" and then send everyone home grounded to "think about their bad behavior and ingratitude."
Most of the people agree that he was a very bad villain. He should have been more dangerous. Which is weird, because isn’t it a powerful curse that’s in control?
I concluded that this is the maximum evil the curse can make him achieve.
I find this very funny because I imagine The Curse being very frustrated.
This reminds me of this: (she's a robot)

That's it. This is how I see Magnífico’s case now.

And further about stealing the wishes.. Maybe you have heard some of these from other.
Those who can give their wishes are over 18, which means they are adults and have their own mind and will. So, they knew that by giving their wishes, they would forget it, and they give this because people are usually easy-going and not all of them go the hard way!
They had enough sense not to give when they don't want to forget a part of themselves (They don't have to- they can gives their wishes as mentioned in the movie).
But people sought simplicity because they had been given enough grace and it had made them lazy, they didn't try to achieve even their simplest goals because they knew that one person could fulfill them in the blink of an eye, I mean, why don't you try to become a skilled person and be proud of the fact that you earned it yourself - not someone else doing it for you? So they themselves accepted that they might never get what they wanted, but they would wait forever.
And I don't like it at all, but that woman who dreamed of becoming a tailor was ungrateful and greedy! She was still waiting for another wish granting ceremony when she had already achieved her wish! And even at the end of the movie, she was talking behind his back - wasn't he the one who helped you reach your goal?!
The people of Rosas were somehow to blame for the downfall of their king..
We: *Hours of studying/analysing body language and personality and re-watching every second to find the most logical and correct evidence*
They: NAH, you say this because he is too handsome and charming and you fell sorry for his past story and he lies and blah blah blah.. he is a villain cuz Disney said so.
Okay but it's not about surface-level charm, it's about the character's inner motivations and actions.
And I have to say we stand by our research and conclusion.
The people of Rosas may look normal from the outside, but when I saw their crowds for the wish-granting ceremony, my opinion completely changed.

In my opinion, it was reasonable that Sabino's wish was not granted on the ceremony.

Magnifico said that it is his responsibility to only grants wishes that he's sure are good for Rosas.
This means that he must make sure that the real intention of that wish and its owner is something for the good of their society.
And maybe Sabino's wish was not as dangerous as Magnifico thought, BUT.
He was right that his wish was too vague. Sabino wanted to inspire the next generation, certainly not just to play lute (because if he had waited this long to play an instrument, I must say... he was too easygoing!).
And Asha requested the king to grant her grandfather's wish in the same ceremony that was tonight. I know, she approached him very respectfully and tactfully to somehow request this, (I mean, she didn't want to be the king's apprentice JUST because of the position. Even when Gabo told her that she was trying to cheat the system, Asha's body language was betraying her words saying "I'm not trying to cheat anything". Of course, if I were in her place, I would try to achieve my desires or my loved ones, but this is a bit tricky).
So Magnifico said that her grandfather's wish was vague and he could not grant it on his birthday- which was the same day.
He doesn't take the risk of granting a wish he's not sure what it is - and it's only been a few moments since he saw it closely - and also Asha wants it to be granted TODAY, which means he doesn't have enough time to study and analyze it.
So not granting Sabino's wish and rejecting Asha's request was a rational decision. Asha just wanted to grant her grandfather's wish and make him happy on his birthday, but she did not see the bigger picture, she was not in Magnifico's place to understand why he made such decisions and I attribute this to her attitude. (For me, I am someone who doesn't look at things from only one point of view. One sees the glass half full, one sees the glass half empty, and one sees the whole glass).
If Asha really understood Magnifico's position, she would never have acted impulsively without consultation and would not have rebelled and turned everyone against the king- which will cause chaos in their kingdom in the future.
We still have a lot to say.
Magnifico: *builds a utopia and provides comfort for his people so that they don't suffer like him and doesn't charge tax and even grants a wish every month - something a normal kingdom doesn't have*
Asha: *singing* so I make this wish, to have something MORE-
I really give him the right to say "This is the thanks I get?!"
He deserves better 😭
*wraps a warm fluffy blanket around Magnifico’s shoulders* *gives him a bowl of homemade pasta and a cup of almond milk* *kisses his cheek and gently holds his hand* it’s ok baby, you’re safe now ❤️
