Stupid nightmares, give the baby a break. He deserved it

Onyx had finished smoking and decided to head into his office to work on some paperwork. As much as his body would let him of course. One of the major injuries preventing him from doing much, was a set of three claw marks on his side. They were deep wounds and very painful since they had come from another ink demon like him. They hadn't been very close to his size at all but still managed to leave a nasty mark.

He sighed as he sat at his desk, beginning to fill out some paperwork. The silence was a bit loud so he began playing some music from his electric record player he kept in his office. Onyx enjoyed collecting vinyls for it and it was always music he enjoyed. The business man wasn't typically one for collecting things but, vinyls and books were an exception. And it was a surprise that books were something he enjoyed as well, considering he didn't like them much as a child.

As Onyx was lost in thought, those thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the rain becoming heavier. He turned to the window that looked out at the balcony to see the heavy rainfall. Siana was safe with Nivek at the moment and not at risk of catching a cold from the rain. After a bit more work, he headed downstairs to begin making himself a cup of coffee. Just as he did, his phone began ringing.

Onyx took it out of his pocket to look at the number on the screen. It was his friend Oculus, likely calling to check up on him. He always made sure he knew when he had gotten himself into trouble, seeing as he was one of the most trusted doctors around who could tend to angelic toons, animal-like toons, and ink demons. He answered the call with a slightly groggy tone. "Hello...?"

Oculus spoke up with concern in his tone. "I didn't wake you up did I? If so, I'm really sorry..." Onyx shook his head even though he knew he couldn't see him. "No you didn't...I've been up for a few hours now. I was doing a bit of work but, my side is killing me. And yes I'm going to lay back down after I have some coffee..." Oculus couldn't help but snicker. "I won't scold you for being up and about you know. I never have. But I do want you to lay back down and rest. Moving too much won't be good for that wound on your side."

Onyx sighed softly and shrugged. "I know...I will be shortly. I'm alright and I'll speak with you again later." Oculus frowned but nodded. "Alrighty then. I hope you rest well. Bye." Onyx told him goodbye in return and hung up the phone. After he had his coffee, he headead back upstairs to his bedroom to sit in bed. He drank his coffee and decided to read whatever book was last sitting on his nightstand. Without realizing it Onyx had fallen asleep, his book still in his hand. But his sleep was interrupted by a horrible nightmare.

I am so sad that he is suffering, but at the same time I rly like Onyx's interaction with his daughter 😭

The nightmare was violent and gruesome as usual, but that didn't make it any less terrifying for him. He began to toss and turn in his sleep as he became restless. Not much longer before he had woken abruptly from a scene within his nightmare, a brutal one of his body being ripped apart. Onyx woke up in a cold sweat, screaming and breathing heavily. His entire body was shaking and he looked around his room, noting the slowly setting sun outside.

Clearly the rain had all passed and went away during the hours he had been sleeping. He managed to steady his breathing but not his shaking. Onyx turned to stare at the empty side of the bed next to him, where someone else had once laid with him. A part of him ached to have her there again so he wouldn't wake up from these nightmares alone, but another part of him knew that it wouldn't have mattered. She was never there for him before so she certainly wouldn't be now.

He sighed deeply and rubbed his face as he stood to head to the bathroom within his room. Onyx stepped inside and turned the light on, beginning to wash his face. When he finished he had paused to look at himself in the mirror, staring at the scar over his eye. He scowled at his appearance and mumbled to himself. "What a hideous mug you've acquired..." He turned away to dry his hands and dripping face before leaving the bathroom.

The clock on his nightstand let him know that it was time for dinner. Siana would be home from schooling with Nivek soon, so he decided to head downstairs to try to cook something for them. As he began searching for ingredients to cook with, Nivek appeared with Siana. She ran over to her father as soon as she saw him, giving his waist a tight hug since that was all she could reach. He smiled as he saw her and looked up at Nivek who was giving him a stern look.

Onyx rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I know what you're going to say..." Nivek raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms. "You should be in bed. You are not supposed to be cooking or straining yourself..." He shrugged and picked Siana up with ease, carrying her on his good side. The side that wasn't currently injured. "Yes sir...I'll leave dinner to you then..." He headed to the living room with Siana and sat down on the couch, letting her sit beside him.

Onyx asked her about her day and as usual, she rambled quite a lot about everything that had happened while she was with Nivek. He didn't mind her talking so much and was always happy to hear her so excited about things. Eventually Nivek had finished dinner and the two sat at the dinner table to eat while the giant cleaned the dishes he had used. The interior was growing dim as the sun set and eventually Onyx put Siana to bed before going to bed himself. It didn't take long before he fell into a deep sleep.

Also, Magnus can change his height just like Eligor but he can only decrease in height. Whereas Eligor can make himself bigger.

After they arrived, Onyx left Ignace in the care of the angel who typically saw to the group members' wounds privately. While he let Oculus tend to Ignace's wounds, he stepped out to make a phone call. It was a call to the other ink demon who lived with Ignace. His name was Sinister and Onyx had taken him in off the streets for a period of time, until he became stable and healthy enough to go off on his own. He didn't have a job but Onyx knew that Ignace didn't mind providing for him, and he personally helped with affording things if it was ever tight for the two.

After a few rings the call was answered by a slightly scratchy male voice. "Oh uhh...hey Onyx...what's up...?" Onyx frowned a bit and sighed. "Ignace got himself into trouble again...I took him to Oculus and he's getting patched up right now. He should be fine to return home but don't let him strain himself until he's properly healed." The timid and quiet demon nodded even though he knew Onyx couldn't see him. "Okay...I'll make sure he doesn't do anything too harsh..." Onyx replied with a simple 'good' before there was a moment of silence.

He spoke up after a bit. "How have you been holding up since your...father showed up?" Sinister was silent for a moment before responding. "Can hardly call him my dad...but I'm alright...still trying to cope with it..." Onyx furrowed his brow and couldn't help but find himself aching for the smaller demon. "I know it's hard...but if you need me, just give me a call alright? I won't bite you know." Sinister wasn't able to keep himself from snickering slightly. "You sure about that...? I've seen how you handle those guys that come after you..."

Onyx smirked a bit, thankfully he was somewhere private where no one would see him doing so. "It's only for people who deserve it of course." Sinister shrugged. "Well alright then...I'll let you get Ignace home...see you in a bit..." The call was soon ended and the shark-like demon made his way back to the other two. Once the lizard was finished being patched up, Onyx got him to his apartment with Sinister and began the quiet but lonely drive home. It had been a while since he had seen Magnus and he hoped he'd stop by since Siana would be staying the night with Nivek.

When Onyx arrived, sure enough, the navy blue demon was waiting for him inside. "Welcome home handsome. Hope your day wasn't too rough." He gave him his wide, signature, grin before leaning up and giving him a kiss on the cheek. Onyx smiled and chuckled softly, enough to be mistaken for a small huff. "You're shorter today. Feeling in a particular mood?" Magnus shrugged and walked over to a large batch of chocolate chip cookies, neatly arranged on a tiered tray. "Nope. I was just baking you a few treats for when you got home. I gotta spoil you too sometimes baby.~"

Onyx made his way over to pluck a cookie from the tray and took a bite of it. Soft and perfectly baked as usual, a great example of Magnus' baking skills. "It's wonderful as always, thank you darling." He gave him a kiss on the horn before finishing the cookie and turning to begin preparing dinner. Magnus stopped him and gave him a gentle pat on the cheek. "Go get yourself comfortable first baby doll. I'll handle dinner." Onyx didn't have the chance to protest so he made his way upstairs to change into more comfortable clothing. He came back down and the two had dinner together, ending the night with some quality time spent in front of the fireplace talking until they were too tired to stay awake. They both then retired to Onyx's bedroom for the night.
