idea—what if Parth Ferengi’s Heart Place had had Mariner and Jennifer in place of Rutherford and Tendi? I think it would be funny that they would probably argue a lot at some points. I would probably have watched that version of the episode WAY more times than I have!
it’s funny how in season one “she’s the best” and then season three Mariner phasers her without even needing to think about it.

so this is a cancellation right? i know they didn’t outright say it, but this definitely feels like a cancellation.
So I keep hearing veteran Trekkies talking about how Lower Decks must be *so* inaccessible to new viewers because they have all of those references. But then on the other hand, I think I've seen more new fans watching Lower Decks than any of the other series. Like, I think the canon references are just a bonus for long-time fans. I think that new fans probably just parse them the same way that they would parse any of the other wacky offscreen adventures that get mentioned. I don't think it's the continuity lockout that critics seem to think it is.
