Just finished reading The Hobbit for the first time. It was my first experience of Tolkien's writing, and I truly loved it so much. The style of writing is so different from the style of current fantasy books, and the whimsy and light-heartedness of it has left me with a very nice, cozy feeling.
There's also a bit of melancholy at having finished it, having gotten to the end of a long journey, but that's a typical experience for me whenever I finish a piece of media I truly enjoyed. Going to sit on this feeling for a little bit, though. It's not an altogether bad feeling.
Finally starting my read of Qian Qiu since the second volume (translated) will be released in August. Have watched the donghua, listened to part of the audio drama. Am excited to see how the novel itself differs from the two. (≧◡≦)
Feeling a little like I need a good Chinese history and I'm not 70 pages in. This is mainly what I was worried about with Seven Seas' official translation. One of the fan translators for (I believe) later sections of the book included copious footnotes to give readers historical context for the story (at least from my recollections), and without them, it's difficult for me to really comprehend the setting. Suppose I'll take a look-see through the Qian Qiu Carrd and search for other historical explanations later (and peruse SassyStrawberry's helpful links). Back to reading!

More fool me, for they did indeed include a Historical Primer at the back of the book. Would that they could have still put in footnotes mentioning this whenever historical events came up, so that I could read on them as they came up in context instead of overloading my brain reading everything all at once. Definitely still going to need to do some researching of my own... But I've now finished volume one in the span of less than five hours. Maybe I should have waited until August... (❛︵❛。)

Do you ever develop a sense of impending doom as you're reading a book and drawing closer and closer to the end and the pages are whittling down to nothing between your fingers and the plot hasn't been resolved yet and warning bells are going off in your brain and then you get to the very last page and GOD FREAKING DANGIT, IT'S A CLIFFHANGER?! ...Surprise, it's a series, folks!
Reading 1984 for the first time and I think I'm in way over my head. Took four days to read the foreword. 😨We'll see how this goes.
I finally started my full read of MDZS yesterday! Thought it'd be a good series to start the new year with. I read all of volume 1 yesterday, and so it's onto volume 2 today... I'm not sure how I'm going to survive the heartbreak up ahead.

Don't mind me just crying my eyes out because of Xiao Xingchen, Song Lan, and A-Qing. I knew it was coming but it still hurt so much.

Got through volume 3 today. The donghua did not prepare me for how absolutely vicious Wei Wuxian would be. Like... my gods? Wen Chao? Dude took a special and dedicated effort to slowly and torturously cleave away at this man's life.（・□・；）
Like, did he deserve what was coming his way? I would say so. Must it have been in such a cruel and ruthless way? I'mmmm not so sure... I understand why Lan Wangji was doing a big concern after witnessing that and the rest of it.
Greatly looking forward to volume 4 tomorrow! (Or... today... because it's 6:00 a.m. and I've yet to sleep. Oops.)

Currently doing a full reread of Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, which means I have now read the first volume five times. Despite this, it still holds up—I still laugh at the parts I've found funny before, I still get anxious as LBH is forced into the Endless Abyss, I am still in love with the gorgeous illustrations by Velinxi.
I think I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite novels, which is wild because I don't actually enjoy the transmigration subgenre all that much. I highly prefer just straight-up fantasy worlds. And yet SVSSS has managed to capture my heart and has not let it go. I freaking love it. ٩(๑`^´๑)۶
Now, onto volume 2~!
Mind you, this is my fourth reread of volume 2. I still lose it over the thought of just one thing changing could have massively impacted the trajectory of the plot. I could barely focus on reading because all my brain wanted to focus on was the a-thousand-and-one what if scenarios that could have occurred in Jinlan City. What if SQQ had said this, what if the System had not mentioned how many points the Fake Guanyin Pendant could alleviate, what if SQQ had not done this, what if he had stayed put upon LBH's arrival at his door, what if what if what if what if!
In the end, I've given up for the night. I've stopped after the Jinlan City arc and will read the rest tomorrow. Hopefully then I'll be able to keep my brain more focused on the actual plot. (×﹏×)

Finished up my reread today! Gosh I love this novel so much. Like how, how has a transmigration novel of all things wound its way deep into my heart? I dunno. But I love it all the same.
Rereading the extras had me wanting to peruse AO3 so many times for fics where they could be a divergence with what happened. For instance, Shen Jiu and Yue Qingyuan in the Lingxi Caves... if he'd said some. If he'd said something!!! My brain losing it over that moment, for real. I haven't explore those two in fanfiction yet, but I really want to. There's so much that could be done with those two.
And of course, Moshang. I love those two to death and back. Already want to reread some of my bookmarks on AO3 for them now.

I would dearly love to just set the book down now and read them all right now, but I promised myself I wouldn't until I finish the whole series. ╥﹏╥
I've finished the fourth book, and thus marks the end of where I've read to before! So from here on out, everything is new new new. I don't know if I'm excited or scared. Maybe a little bit of both. (￣ω￣;)
