castlevania cw netflixvania netflixvania tw reblogs text post it honestly comes off as extremely lazy like using the name of a semi well known but not popular enough to be missed media as a safety net :/ like please Netflix: it is always ALWAYS better to be an average or mid original property than a bad adaptation of an existing one it reminds me of how gamefreak has started to make really buggy messes of games lately with only 50% of the usual content but they don’t stop cause they know the name ‘pokemon’ is gonna sell anyway or how remakes keep getting made of random movies for no other reason than they know nostalgia will sell and yeah anyone who says Netflixvania is a good adaptation is objectively wrong like this most recent one doesn’t even have Castlevania in it like that’s the title character the castle itself the being of chaos Richter’s entire character arc rests on Dracula and the castle being brought back I just and ya know what I’m sick of people praising the hell out of the first one too it took away the backstories of Trevor and Sypha and changed them to be significantly less interesting probs just so Trevor could be the stereotypical ‘asshole with a heart of gold’ trope and Sypha be visibly a woman as soon as possible Grant is just gone which is an absolute crime because he would’ve been the perfect everyman and a reason for people to give exposition Alucard was completely and fundamentally misunderstood as a character by everyone who wrote for this especially for the CV3 era I’m thoroughly convinced they just wanted to sexual fan service him as much as possible :/ characterization nitpicks aside they shot themselves in the foot when they killed off Dracula and then DIDNT make the next seasons CoD instead they give us sexual assault scenes and whatever the hell the insult that was the Lisa Dracula amalgamation was not to mention random OCs that got more plot agency than the game’s original characters ever did! I feel like I’m not saying enough about the first two seasons cause everyone seems to be ok with those BUT I think they were just so annoyingly forgettable and mid that I deadass can’t think of any words to criticize them :| I say the fuck word all the time but the second I heard Alucard say it I knew immediately that none of this was gonna get any better tbh I will also forever hate it for having Bloody Tears in it that is not your or Trevor’s song you take that back right now— and Divine Bloodlines they’re both generic ‘emotional cinematic’ covers of them too I could find 10+ fan covers online rn that sound better anyway if Netflixvania wins at the game awards I’m gonna lose all ability to feel joy
