wanted to share what's on my mu qing playlist with y'all
need to add some more to it but in my brain,,, modern au mq physically created this playlist and titled it "sad boy hours" and also hes forced to play it on a road trip with the whole gang and is absolutely mortified - idk i just need him to suffer bc i love him 🩷

Fengqing Fic Recs!!!
I have been in a writing slump recently and have been doing a lot of reading instead—so here are some fics I've thoroughly enjoyed this past week! <3
A Little Late by kakera (t, 12k words - modern au)
Xie Lian sets Mu Qing up on a blind date and things go much better than expected.
This one is so sweet I've just had it open in my tabs for literal days. Super soft fengqing and some implied smut but mainly just some really lovely first-date shenanigans.
Scarier Than the Undertaker, We Are Meeting Our Matchmaker by foxfeast (e, 23.6k words - canon compliant)
While investigating bizarre happenings in his territory, Mu Qing finds himself trapped in a domain that strips him of his spiritual energy and his robes—and there's only one way to get out: sex.
This one has it all: (stealth) trans Mu Qing; requited unrequited love; tender love and sweet devotion; some of the softest fengqing interactions I've ever read; and gentle—passionate—sex. I basically wrote a book review in comment form, that's how much I loved this one.
If I Were You I'd Know Your Mind by kakera (m, 8.6k - canon compliant)
While on a joint mission, Mu Qing and Feng Xin encounter an attack that causes them to switch bodies—but the biggest problem on their hands is Feng Xin's closely guarded romantic feelings for his long-time rival.
Oh, the absolute situations these two end up in...
We've got even more requited unrequited love here as well as some sexual content, but nothing too explicit. Imagine a soft, head-over-heels in love Feng Xin and your typical snarky Mu Qing but they've switched bodies. It's as fantastic as it sounds.
Before it's over by luckymoonly (e, 3.6k words - omegaverse)
Nan Feng and Fu Yao were on a joint mission in the mortal realm and have opted to stay at an inn—this, of course, is exactly when Fu Yao's heat decides to come.
Feng Xin and Mu Qing star as their deputy alter-egos in this one and the dynamic between them is just magnificent. This was a lovely pwp and the desire between the two of them was so rich I was squirming in my seat!
These are all started in some capacity but I'm struggling trying to figure out which one to work on. These are all SFW prompts by the way! So plan for some soft and gentle feelings from all of them once they're finished <3 none of them are established fenqing bc I'm obsessed with getting together fics lmao
Last Line Meme
rules: share the last line you wrote, tag some people and have fun!
Thanks for the tag @nemaria !!!
"Please. I'm so sorry. Please, Mu Qing. Please don't leave me—not again."
I may be writing some angst, also for the fengqing gotcha for gaza 👀
I'm gonna tag @foxfeast (no pressure!) but open this up to anyone else who feels like participating! <3
Alright y'all, I heard ya loud and clear 🫡 and I'm already 1.2k words into this prompt. Maybe I'll have it finished this weekend? Just depends on if I get any inspiration to work on ch. 11 of Distance, but we'll see. Thanks for voting!!! 🩷🩷🩷

Been thinking about modern au fengqing again...
I imagine they've fought and broken up (again) but for real this time (sure) and Feng Xin is driving himself insane.
What do we think about,,, Mu Qing calling Feng Xin gege? I headcanon fx being slightly older than mq and I have a fic idea where maybe he calls him that jokingly/on a dare but it turns into something. But also, people say very vulnerable things during sex so maybe.... Idk idk idk, I just need y'all's thoughts pls
Still obsessed with the idea of Mu Qing being forced to voice his true thoughts under the effects of some curse. Him holding his hands over his mouth, trying so hard to just stay quiet, to the point that it's painful to him. I can't actually get enough of this goddamn trope, it's just too good.
Almost almost finished with another gotcha prompt! Will hopefully post tomorrow! 🩷🩷🩷
Just finished my third prompt for @fengqingaction ! This was requested by @maliwolfalia on twitter. I've got three more prompts to work on so y'all will hopefully see those soon!
It all happened so quickly that Feng Xin feels weirdly separated from the events of the night even as he replays them on loop in his head.
The visuals of the accident itself are a blur—a mess of shiny black hair and moonlight-pale skin stained red.
Feng Xin isn't even sure of anything except that it was his fault.
I need y'all to know that when I'm really trying to focus and write, I listen to this playlist in one tab while I have another tab open playing whatever thunderstorm/rain sounds video I feel like on youtube.
When I write or read, I can't listen to songs with words that are understandable lmao, it has to be this slow and dreamy and mumbly stuff.
That being said... I'm still working on chapter 11 of Distance and it's unfortunately not going to be finished tonight. I'm so hopeful to have it done by next Sunday, but I can make no promises.
Personal update under the cut <3
It's been rough, y'all. Depression and autistic burnout have got me by the throat. I'm having such a hard time finding joy in anything and I'm just, really not functioning very well. I'm struggling with keeping my home clean--doing chores like laundry and dishes. I'm having a hard time sleeping and feeding myself, which just makes me feel ridiculous. Our air conditioner has been broken for a week and so I can't justify using our oven to actually cook something but we don't have a microwave and I don't have the energy to stand at the stove. And I'm still going to my job every week-day, and I absolutely love my job, but I just feel tired and am having a hard time focusing. Aaahhhhhhhh it's really so frustrating. And then I feel like I'm completely letting down everyone who's waiting for updates on my fic or people who are waiting for their gotcha prompts to be finished and it just makes me feel sick/////
My wip Wednesday contribution for our beloved fengqing 🩷 ft. secret relationship fengqing 👀
[Modern au/hotel setting
Mu Qing wakes with a start. He's sharing a room with Xie Lian. It's a nightmare. A really, really bad one. He's shaking, gasping for air. Xie Lian was still awake and goes to him, Mu Qing is panicking. He can't stop. He can't get it out of his mind.]
“A-Xin.”
“You--you want me to get A-Xin for you, A-Qing?”
“Yes."
“Yeah, yeah--yes, I will grab him. I can go get him-”
Mu Qing is sobbing, gripping tightly onto Xie Lian's sleeve and shaking his head. He can't be alone right now. No, he would go crazy.
Xie Lian shushes him, cooing sweetly. He convinces Mu Qing to let go of him so he can grab his phone and call Feng Xin instead.
Feng Xin answers groggily but as soon as Xie Lian says Mu Qing’s name, he sounds fully awake and Xie Lian can hear him stumbling out of bed.
“Don't leave him, I'll be right there.” And he hangs up.
Mu Qing does not like being touched. The fact that he's grabbing onto Xie Lian's sleeve is shocking enough. Xie Lian knows better than to try to touch him, but the sight of Mu Qing hugging himself, shaking and sobbing is absolutely heartbreaking. Unable to do much else, Xie Lian decides to model some calm breathing to help Mu Qing regulate. Mu Qing, although his eyes are squeezed tightly shut, does his best to copy Xie Lian's slow breathing, but it's difficult. The small whimpering sounds that shudder out of him make Xie Lian's heart ache.
The knock on their door comes much sooner than Xie Lian imagined it would.
When he succeeds in convincing Mu Qing to let him get up to answer it, he opens the door to the sight of Feng Xin still in his sleep clothes and looking a bit ragged. He's breathing so heavily Xie Lian realizes he must have ran here.
As soon as Feng Xin sets eyes on Mu Qing, he's bolting over to him, pushing past Xie Lian and only giving him a cryptic moment of eye contact.
Feng Xin hits the bed and sits, his voice unbearably gentle as he calls out to Mu Qing.
“Qing-er, I'm here.”
As quickly as the words are out of Feng Xin's mouth, Mu Qing's arms are tightly wrapped around his neck and his face is pressed into his shoulder as the sobs rip through him.
Xie Lian has already closed the door at this point, standing a bit awkwardly to the side. His hand dashes up to cover his open mouth as he stares at the scene before him. Feng Xin wraps his arms around Mu Qing's waist and pulls him close, a hand finding its way through Mu Qing's sleep-mussed hair.
“Which one was it, Qing-er?”
Mu Qing holds his trembling hands up between his and Feng Xin's chests and Xie Lian sees the strain he has to use to clench and unclench his fingers. “It hurts.” he sobs, “It hurts so bad, A-Xin, please--”
“The fire one-- it's okay. It's okay, Mu Qing. I'm here. I have you.”
Feng Xin encloses Mu Qing's hands with his own, as tenderly as possible, his eyes laser focused on Mu Qing's expression. Mu Qing winces, just barely, and clamps his mouth shut on another sob.
“It's okay, Qing-er. I'm right here. I promise you're okay. I know--oh, I know, baby. I know it hurts.”
Baby?
Xie Lian can't help but feel as if he's intruding on this private moment between his best friends. His best friends who have always regarded each other with intense animosity at the worst of times and determined rivalry at the best of times. His best friends who are… embracing each other. His best friends who are suddenly using nicknames for each other when they never have before-- and Feng Xin just called Mu Qing baby?
There is a lot to unpack here, but now isn't the time.
Xie Lian slips into the bathroom and grabs a clean washcloth from the towel rack and runs it under cold water. He squeezes out any excess, steeling himself for a private, quiet moment in the bathroom before he heads back out to the bedroom.
He walks back to the sight of Mu Qing trembling quietly with tears streaming down his face as Feng Xin cradles his hands close. Their foreheads are resting against each other as Feng Xin whispers encouragingly to Mu Qing. Neither of them notice Xie Lian, or at least that's what Xie Lian tells himself when he sees Feng Xin pull back to place a kiss on Mu Qing's hairline. An act so smooth and so easy, he must have done it countless times.
Xie Lian cautiously approaches the bed and offers the wet washcloth to Feng Xin. Their eyes meet and Feng Xin's expression turns complicated--pained. From the look in Feng Xin's eyes, Xie Lian knows they will need to talk later. But for now, their focus needs to be on Mu Qing.
Feng Xin takes the washcloth and gently lays it over Mu Qing's trembling hands. The other man clenches his teeth and a low, wallowing groan of pain rattles up from his throat. Feng Xin's lips are on Mu Qing's hairline again, and he murmurs quietly against the sweat-slick strands, “Shh, I know, baby. I know. It's okay. See?”
He presses their foreheads together again and brings Mu Qing's hands further up into the other man's view.
“See, sweetheart? You're okay.”
“I'm okay.” Mu Qing whispers back, sounding unconvinced.
