I just wanna take a moment to talk about how loved and appreciated Riddle makes Luca feel (and how Luca does the same for Riddle)
Now, Luca only had his mother growing up. His family members didn't know or care about him (since they blamed him for ruining Larissa's future/career), and he was homeschooled, so he didn't have any friends (maybe a few he would play with, but they weren't exactly close)
So when he goes to Night Raven, not only is the surface new to him, but attending school with other people is as well. Everything is a new experience for him, and when his mother passes away his first month there, he experiences even more firsts (those these aren't exactly positive...)
He lost the person most important to him, the only parent he's ever known, his best friend. The only person to ever love him. Though he does his best not to let it show, her death deeply affects him, leaving him feeling lost and alone and unsure.
There are certain in game events I like to picture Luca in, and one of them is the Phantom Bride event, with Luca being an SSR card. (I have thoroughly thought about what he would wear/look like, along with what his card would look like before and after groovy, and his vignette. Maybe I'll commission someone to make the card a reality lol ♡)
For his card, he has duo magic with Rook (I know he's an R card but I couldn't resist) and in his vignette he and Rook have a discussion on love (familial love, romantic love, platonic love)
Luca lets his hidden thoughts slip out during their discussion, explaining that he was unsure if he was lovable/worthy of love considering the circumstances of his birth (and how it effected his mother's life)
The line he says when you groovy his card is, "What does it mean to be worthy of love, if the only person who ever loved you is gone?"
His vignette and groovy is a huge contrast to how he acts in the event (and how his card looks in the beginning), wanting to help/join in due to having never attended a wedding (and having a romanticized idea of them), even making a comment about how he'd like to fall in love one day.
And he does, he falls in love with Riddle. He falls in love with someone who cares about his interests, about his desire to learn, explaining and listening and encouraging him along the way. Providing him with book recommendations, resources, on hand experiences. Someone he can have conversations with that last for hours, time flying by as they talk and laugh and enjoy each other's company. Someone strong and capable, who cares about his well-being, able to protect him if needed.
The time, care, and consideration Riddle has for Luca slowly helps him realize that he is worthy of love, having always been worthy in Riddle's eyes ♡
