Krok - Tumblr Posts
Been considering various hc's and stuff while working on a fic, and like, what if Spinister did Krok's t-cog removal?
I'm pretty sure it's been thought about before, can't remember where though, but it's really interesting to think about in the greater scheme of their being Decepticons?
Like, it's implied that the Decepticons, (despite fighting back against the functionism that oppressed them originally), had a tendency towards "shapism" or "shape-hate crimes". Which isn't terribly surprising coming from a more cutthroat faction that puts a lot of weight on their use of war worthy alt-modes. Tanks and teeth and all that.
And before I really start rambling, I want to acknowledge how into headcanon territory this sorta gets because it's going with the idea of Krok having had a beast-like alt-mode originally. It makes things more interesting when it comes to him leaving that all behind? At least, imo.
But continuing on. You have this military structure that prefers strength in as many forms as it can come in, and then you have someone like Krok, a monoformer, a monoformer who's the leader of a squad on the frontlines.
I know the wiki puts him becoming a monoformer before him being a Decepticon. But for the sake of it being sorta vague in the comics I think, lets say he became a monoformer while he was already in the Decepticons. The monoformer movement started pre-war, yeah, but nothing says nobody joined up once the war kicked off.
What if he didn't want to be defined by teeth and claws? By the power of a bite or scratch in a fight. Being someone more dedicated to the original cause of his faction, what if he held the concept of being more than your alt-mode deeply to spark? Even more so on the battlefield, where one's mind could just maybe be seen as more useful than their jaws, if only.
Maybe he had always felt like leaving his alt-mode behind, maybe he only felt it when his ability to maim and maul was held in a higher regard to his ability to plan and strategize, maybe it was both, and the feeling just grew stronger with time.
Either way, he decides he's done with it. Done with the alt-mode, done with his t-cog, etc etc. But he's a little hard-pressed to find a medic to assist. He's just one soldier, and not a particularly special one at that, also he's not actively bleeding out or dying, so who's he to pester the already overwhelmed and grim medics about wasting his perfectly good alt-mode?
Doing it himself isn't entirely out of consideration, but then again, he's not a medic, and what if he messes something up? What then? His squad might advise against it for his sake, and he knows they need him alive and as well as he can be. But it's a nagging feeling nonetheless. Maybe his squad sympathize and try and help to find someone.
Perhaps it's through them, or another medic, or some trick of fate that he finds himself before Spinister of all people.
Spinister, who is a medic of minor renown, but not entirely for good reason. Any mech that prefers to spend their time piecing back together screaming bloody soldiers is bound to be strange, it just so happens that Spinister is a little stranger than usual. Being so odd, he's not exactly what one might expect from a medic, but he's just what Krok needs.
Not one to care for the complexities of the other medics opinions or ideas, least of all what they think about him and his work, Spinister is content just getting the job done in whatever fashion he deems right. It makes him an efficient medic for all cases, from the critical work of pulling shrapnel from around a brain module, to curing the odd cough or itch. His patients are always in good hands, it's just everything and everyone else that might be less safe depending on how the shadows move or how many times a light blinks just slightly too wrong.
No matter how Krok finds his way to Spinister, either through another, or by ending up on the same battlefield Spinister happens to be working triage on, he finds the medic's paranoia and oddities to be the least of his concerns.
Spinister doesn't ask probing questions as to why he wants it done, nor does he brush it aside or claim it a foolish wasteful move. He's a medic, and here is a patient with a specific request he has no trouble doing. So he does it.
Maybe Krok asks to keep just some of his kibble, to show he wasn't ashamed of his alt-mode, that that isn't why he chose to become a monoformer. Spinister doesn't question that either, he does as asked, unknowingly showing Krok more respect and understanding than he's received in a long time outside of his squad.
Krok then returns that respect and understanding tenfold. There's no other quite as skilled or brilliant as Spinister in his mind, quirks and all.
hereās me taking the fact that krok was originally a football (mecha-soccer) player and running with it:
krok trying to teach the other scavengers how to play. crankcase is having none of it and just sits on the sides, frowning so hard they can probably feel it back on cybertron.Ā
krok kicks the ball at fulcrum. fulcrum is unprepared and flinches, and the ball bounces off his bomb plating and hits misfire in the head.
misfire tries to kick the ball and somehow ends up kicking himself in the face.Ā
spinister picks it up pretty quickly, but he keeps grabbing the ball and holding it over everyone else. there was once an incident when he tired to slice the ball with his rotors (crankcase had to make a new ball out of scrap. itās kind of lumpy and doesnāt roll that well, but they work with it).
grimlock chases the ball (and whoever currently has it) all over the playing field. eventually the game just sort of devolves into keep-away, which devolves further into dig-misfire-out-from-under-grimlock, which just ends up in a massive dogpile with crankcase sitting on top of them all grousing about this being a waste of time he secretly enjoyed it
and maybe krok mentions, at some point, that he and gatoraider used to love playing football and fulcrum went from being on the fence about playing to fully invested in the game i can dream, okay

happy bday (a day late nooo) to me special secret menu item guy @robofaggy
Read this fic a bit ago and it's literally the cutest fucking thing ever, just 6 cons, an Autobot, and their stupid little purple baby child
Plus all the little family photos sprinkled it, aaaghh so good
first half of my drawings for this yearās @tf-bigbang !! I was partnered with @wendy-comet who wrote a fantastic fic of the scavs deciding to raise the firstborn (purple baby from the IDW comics)!! here are some photos from their family album!!š„°

I can finally post these!
This was my entry (and two sticker designs) for @leviathanzines decepticon zine, and was simultaneously the most fun and the most frustrating piece of art Iāve worked on for a long time.
I HAD THIS EXACT SAME IDEA, I EVEN HAD THE SHITTY SKETCH I DID AT 1AM WITH ME, IVE JUST BEEN TOO LAZY TO CLEAN IT UP DIGITALLY ššš
sobbing rn but also this is beautiful op, my exact vision and even better with the stupid little grimlock, I love it asjkhdjksahdjk

IM SCREAMING IM SCREAMING IM SCREAMING IM GOING INSANE, THIS IS LIKE A POST FROM WAY BACK 2015 BUT OH MY GOD IM SO GLAD THIS FOUND MY DASH
I OVE THIS SO SO MUCH, KROK JUST LETTING IT ALL OUT ON MEGATRON LIKE THAT???? HES SO?? THATS SO FUCKING- OH MY GODDD
GOD, look, I thought them meeting Megatron and being all wide-eyed and in awe in LL was cute but now I'm just thinking how fucking powerful and good it would be if the series had more time to marinate and explore this concept
Like yeah, in reality, I think the Scavs SHOULD be mad at Megatron, they're a representation of the Decepticon rank and file, the disposables, mere cannon fodder during the war... and their leader does what? Give all that up and decides to join up with the Autobots, wearing their insignia as if the millions of years of revolution and words he spouted at them to fight meant nothing??? that sucks man
GODDDD, ONCE AGAIN I LOVE THIS SO MUCH (and pop the fuck off Krok, thats my fucking GOAT)
Okay but consider this:
The Scavengers on the Lost Light.
Now, I could go down the humourous lane, you know, with Skids not wanting to lose face and pretending Misfire really IS is arch-nemesis (and Mifire enjoying that a little too much, though who is that mech anyway? Did he ever get a drink with him?), or Spinister helping out in the medbay (āDonāt shoot that! We need it!ā āItās looking at me funny!ā), and all that good stuff.
But letās be serious for a second: letās have them come face to face with Megatron.
Grimlock growls at him, because something in his shattered cerebro-cortex reminds him that this one is bad. It takes the whole W.A.P. crew to keep him somewhat calm (ie. just growling and no fire-breathing).
Spinister is confused: thereās something not right with this picture. Heās not sure of a lot of things (that the whole isnāt glaring at him, that the lamps arenāt mocking him), but Megatron being their leader, Megatron being on their side is something heās sure of! So thisā¦. this isnāt right.
Misfire goes into his usual chatter. Only instead of forming really long sentences, he keeps breaking them, making incoherent strings of words and pointing at their ex-leaderās chest. This is his version of being speechless. And very distressed. For those who know him, itās super disturbing to see the happy-go-lucky jet this way.
Crankcaseās feelings are so vitriolic, heās feeling sick. He took the DJD right on because he believed that the badge was his, not theirs. And now more than ever, heās feeling like he needs to defend that. The normally loud-mouthed mechanic just shakes silently. He does put a hand on Misfireās shoulder, though. Because.
Fulcrum should be afraid, could be angry, instead heās bitter. So this is the grand leader he was born under? The one he was told would lead them to greatness and gelactic conquest. The one that led him to full-body restructuration and impending death. The one that led himself into the Autobotsā rank? Heās always accepted the values of his faction -his culture?-, not knowing anything else as he was born under them. And then he took a stand because a bunch of misfits showed him that these values werenāt that theoritical after all. Heās always accepted Megatronās worth at face value, not having seen him in action back in the days. And then he met him, an Autobot badge wedging a line between them with much more effectiveness than rank or power. The crew heās part of is worth sacrificing himself for them, this mech is not. The techie grits his denta, glaring down at the floor.
Krok just stares silently. Expression unreadable.
The whole of them are accepted on board, more or less blending in the general craziness. The longer they stay, the more the crew learns about their adventures, their stories⦠their strugglesā¦. Megatron hears all that. And, one night, as heās walking down the corridors because he canāt recharge, he ends up at the observation deck. And Krok is there. Looking at the stars, probably trying to figure out where his old unit is.
Megatron approaches him and, awkwardly, asks how the Scavengers are finding themselves.
This is when Krok letās it rip. He doesnāt pull a gun on Megatron, oh no, he uses on his ex-leader the very same weapons that made him the figurehead of the Decepticons: words.
āMy crew are the ones you have never seen, Megatron, the ones you sent off to be killed each day in the name of your revolution. And like so many like them, they went on each time you gave the order. Because they believed in your ideals, they believed in you. No matter what horrors they saw, no matter how insignificant they knew they were to you, in the end your words, the ones that stood against the senate and the low life they had, were enough to make them dive right into battle. For you.
You, the revolutioner with a vision. You, the gladiator with the power. You, the one that left them behind. And now you enquire about these people?
This isnāt just about being left on the battlefield, too. You turned your back on us to what? Atone for your mistakes? Well then, maybe you should start by making up to the ones whose life you changed so drastically. Because the Autobots? They might be the āgood guysā from some peopleās perspective, but they werenāt counting in you like we did. And everybody seems to be forgetting that fact, you the first, Megatron.
Out there, there is and army of desperate civilians that turned into bloodthirsty soldiersĀ and they are now left in a daze. There are camps full of walking woundeds whose future are compromised by unrepairable wounds. There are people that you made move as one by sheer belief and then stood up for something better. Or just something āgoodā, because, apparently, weāre the bad guys and have been fighting eons while knowing full well how wrong we were.
You want to take responsibility, Megatron? Take. It. But all of it.ā
Somehow, during his tirade, Krok started facing Megatron, advancing more and more on him until they were nearly chest to chest. Well, chest to faceplate, because Megatron is so big. Itād be almost funny if it wasnāt for the Scavengerās optics.
Not an ounce of fear in them. Only righteous fury.
And Megatron, who back in the days would have turned him into slag for his insolence, now can only take in just how much heās truly failed his people.
inchresting... curious as to what led to the idea of autobot crankcase hrmmmm

Commission I did based off a single page script they wrote!
Super fun to do! Something about drawing a comic page feels so satisfying in the end. Enjoy!
Mnemosurgeon Spinister
I haven't rambled on about the Scavs here in a bit but this one's kind of been on the backburner of my brain for a while now, just the concept of it really intrigues me
Imagine, if you will, big bulky and a little bit slow Spinister being a mnemosurgeon, having little needles poke out of his fingertips and being granted access to people's memories, all fascinated by his own hands because of what they can do
Now imagine that same Spinister being a bit more well-spoken way way back then but struggling to find companionship or a sense of purpose and whatnot, imagine him jabbing needles into his own processor simply to understand himself, or being fed up with the lack of all that social and affectionate stuff that his function offers (most bots are frightened by mnemosurgeons and the mere concept of mnemosurgery, most of the surgeons themselves die young), so he begins doing mnemosurgery on himself
He sits in his dimlit quarters at the late hours of the night and sifts through memories, removing failed attempts at conversations, awkward meetings, just in general some memories he could live without. He does this over and over and over and no one ever stops him, no one knows to, no one cares to. Until eventually, his mind has sort of regressed, his processor not being built to take that much manual alteration and he's left with a hollow version of himself, staring aimlessly at his own fingers and saying things that make bots swear he's the stupidest being in the universe
Yeah the thought made me sad ahahahah, UNTIL... until.... brain went to SpinKrok and I was like OHHHHhhh...
Despite Spinister's everything, he remains great at his job. It's all muscle memory at this point, can't take that away from him. So one cycle, he's out and about by himself as usual until through some circumstances idkkk he meets Krok. Spin likes Krok, he's probably one of the first bots who's held a conversation that long with him in a while and he finds himself smiling at the thought of the mech. Later on, he heads back to his quarters, about to resume his usual routine of deleting tidbits he didnt want to remember of that day and he finds that... huh... he doesnt want to delete any of it. So he remembers. He remembers Krok until they meet up again.

Still busy sorry chat, have this gah-tor I finished a while back but forgot to post š
Its that Earthspark Krok design I showed here a bit ago m, I just finished the coloring and altmode lolz
Still wanting to eventually do all the Scavengers in an ES sort of thing but I don't know if my brain would cooperate with me on that š
I REALLY LIKE THISSS !!!!!

Messing around with his jet alt
trying to figure out how to better incorporate the wings onto his frame but for now Iāll leave it as is

this is so sweeetttt

When the Necrobot met his No.1 fan.

[Scavengers Mandalorian/Star Wars AU]
[I can't believe this nearly took me a year to finish, omg ;-;. But I did it! It's done!! It's weird seeing how I improved vaugely through the months? Started with Crankcase, then Spin and Krok, to Fulcrum, then finally Grims and Misfire. Looking back there's some things I definitely would change about some of the designs, but ultimately it's good enough I think. Also, trying to translate their frame colors into armor/clothes was certainly... something. So uh, sorry if their color schemes look wonky?? Idk. I'll post the sketches later as well since I think those turned out pretty neat :D]
this idea... AAAUURRGHHHH... very intriguing...
totally not going insane, having a desire to draw, or even thinking a lot about it rn... mhm... yep... I'm very normal about this concept...
There's a post somewhere on twitr talking about how interesting it'd be to see krk as a prime and on one hand I'm like yeah on the other hand I'm imagining a comic where at the beginning he says something sarcastic to the effect of "sure and im the 16th prime" and then at the end of the comics the matrix floats up to him and he just stares in annoyed disbelief before proclaiming that he was joking
Matrix doesn't care. Become a prime boy
YESSSS... GOD YES
gonna ramble a little more because my brain is processing it better now aha but...
They're such silly little guys who are almost always the bottom of the barrel in whatever continuity you'd put them in I bet (except for that one time Spinister was a DJD member in Earth Wars for some reason lmao???), that sometimes they deserve to be special and in other times, them being losers who GET to be special means a whole fuckin lot to me š
Like idk, in some cases it'd be for the funnies like that idea for Misfire but really considering the Prime idea for Krok???? that shit would BANG, not only would it be a little funny but I just think having this really unsuspecting genericon whose usually seen as little more than cannon fodder, who's at the same time one of the few decepticons who cares deeply about the crews that he leads, become a prime LIKE THAT WOULD BE SO INTERESTING AND COOL
Also also, twitter op there is so right about the "krok isn't a fighter, only a fighter when its the last option" LIKE!!! My exact fucking thoughts bro, great minds think alike, you hit the nail on that shit

By the Necrobot, Spinister is so stupid.
[ongoing visual revamp soon <3]
.....something just happened

scavengersā first halloween aboard the lost light is going well
