Mornings At The Palace

Gaster let out a yawn as he opened his eye sockets, sitting up and rubbing sleep out of his eyes. He looked around the room, almost forgetting where he was from how heavy he’d been sleeping, which wasn’t normal for him, at least it didn’t used to be. The only reason he’d slept at all was because of the large goat monster sleeping peacefully beside him.

The skeleton smiled a little, loving getting to see Asgore free from his usual stresses and worries. Ever since they’d gotten together, Gaster had grown incredibly fond of these mornings where he got to wake up with the king by his side. With the king’s duties, and Gaster’s work in the lab, as well as his responsibilities to his sons made it hard for them to have many moments alone together, time where they could just take a nice breather from everything else.

“Good morning.” Came Asgore’s sleepy, baritone voice, which broke into a smile when the king looked up at him with half lidded eyes, “Did you sleep well?”

“I slept alright, how about you?”

“I slept great~” Asgore sat up, bringing his hand up to cup Gaster’s cheekbone, “Of course, we were up rather late.”

Gaster chortled, leaning in Asgore’s touch, “You didn’t seem to mind~”

“You don’t have to leave yet, do you?” Asgore asked, pulling Gaster closer to him, “It’s still pretty early.”

“I told Sans I’d be back in the morning, but he winked at me as said that I didn’t have to be in any hurry, and have a fun night.” Gaster blushed a faint purple, and looked away, “Well...I’m paraphrasing, he made a few puns that were a bit...suggestive.”

Asgore snorted a laugh, “If either of your sons were to catch on to the two of us, he’d be the first.”

“You’re not wrong.” Gaster laughed a bit, and wrapped his arms around the king’s broad shoulders, “I’m not totally sure if he knows I’ve been spending all these nights with you, but he definitely knows I’ve been seeing someone.”

Asgore smiled and pressed little kisses on Gaster’s neck, “Have I told you how beautiful you are?”

Gaster shivered in Asgore’s hold, fingers playing with Asgore’s golden hair, “You tell me that every time I see you.”

“Well you are quite beautiful~”

“Dork.”

“You love me.”

“You’re damn right I do.” Gaster turned Asgore’s face to look at him, “And don’t you forget it.”

“Oh, I won’t.” Asgore pressed a gentle kiss to Gaster’s forehead, “I love you, WingDings.”

“I love you too, Fluffybuns.”

hey reaal quick:

sans (and papyrus) may be subtly implied to be related to w d gaster, most likely familially

ralsei is widely theorised to be a creation or adopted child of gaster

sans could be aware of the game and its time loop, ralsei knows a little too much about game mechanics

conclusion?? gaster family meeting. sans and ralsei would be SIBS

That’s it. The Light At The End of the Tunnel is no longer Kingdings if you squint. It’s just flat out kingdings.

Mostly about Lucy (the Australopithecus afarensis) and how her discovery has not only shaped my life, but also anthropologist’s very understanding of the Hominin/Hominid family tree. She is. Very cool and makes me feel many things.
