it will never fail to amuse me that john jay, the (apparently) level-headed, reasonable guy that everyone passes over, caught a stray in hamilton. it doesn't have time for the jay treaty but it does have time to say "john jay got sick after five", forever cementing his memory in the public consciousness as the slacker in the group project.
for a moment i thought you were referencing the time hamilton got hit by a stone while talking about the jay treaty to some crowd and i completely forgot about the doctors' riot of 1788 ðŸ˜
but yeah, apparently a crowd angry at doctors and med students for body-snatching marched on columbia's medical building. and of course, hamilton was involved and stood at the school front steps to plead with the people to please stop but was pushed to the ground. afterwards they moved on to doctors' homes and the jail, and according to sarah jay, somewhere along the way jay was hit by a stone severely, and baron von steuben (ariana what are you doing here) was the one hit by a brick.
but i guess "john jay got sick but also coincidentally got hit by a stone" was too long. justice for john jay!
