It was a good day, he thought idly. Jumin had taken him to see a new exhibit, one that he hopes would inspire V to be able to take more challenging photography of his own, despite the renown that his name carries. Lately, Jumin has been wearing this look on his face that he’s never seen on his best friend before, but he knows something’s wrong. It’s hard to ask him, especially when Rika has been limiting him from seeing much of anyone lately and he isn’t sure how that happened.
Sometimes, days pass without his realization that it’s passed at all, and it’s all he can do to spend time with Rika and make sure she isn’t going to do anything drastic that would endanger herself. Jihyun has lost count of the number of times that he’s spent telling Rika that he’s not leaving—that he’s not going to leave her.
So when he sees the mess in the kitchen when he’s come home, her endeavors in trying to cook, but she’s on the floor in near hysterics. Jihyun is immediately there and crouches beside her, holding her close in hopes that she’d calm. Thankfully, it seems to be one of those days where she lets him since her tears slowly eases and she whispers.
The smile comes easily, trying to reassure her, and he says soothingly, ❝It’s okay—I promised that I’d always love you, right? We ought to share our burdens together, Rika.❞
His hand soothingly rubs against the small of her back. Jihyun isn’t sure if she’s referencing all of the tears she’s shed recently or her anger, but all he wants is for Rika to return to being that same bright girl he fell in love with. It isn’t to say that he doesn’t love her now, he does, and he needs to be there for her.
He has to because no one else would.
