I’m lonely and it’s raining (Janis ‘Imi’ike x reader)

Fluff- Janis comforts reader(this is really short)

It’s raining. Like a lot and (Y/N) is home alone. Their parents took a trip out of town. (Y/N) hates being alone but hates having to catch up on school work even more so they decide to stay home. It’s almost 2am and their anxiety is going crazy making it almost impossible to sleep. They start crying and panicking. They can’t take being alone anymore so they decide to call their best friend…and long time crush. Hoping for some comfort and to be less lonely. Janis wakes up to her phone ringing. It’s (Y/N). Janis answers immediately, tired and worried because her best friend(who she secretly has a crush on) is calling her at 2 in the morning. “Hello?” says a very groggy Janis. “J, can I come over?” (Y/N) says, sounding as if they’d been crying. “(Y/N), honey have you been crying?” Janis asks more worried and more awake. “…yeah I’m just having a bad night” (Y/N) says sniffling a little. “Do you want me to go pick you up or are you ok to drive?” Janis questions, putting on a hoodie realizing it’s raining. “Can you come pick me up…please” (Y/N) asks softly. “I’ll be there in 8 minutes…maybe 10 because of the rain, ok?” Janis explains. “Mkay…thank you” (Y/N) says feeling a little better knowing they’ll have someone to keep them company. (Y/N) grabs their comfort plush, their keys, and their bag. Puts on some sweatpants and a hoodie after looking out the window and seeing the rain hasn’t stopped. Janis texts (Y/N) letting them know she’s outside. (Y/N) quickly rushes to Janis’ car after making sure they looked the door to their house. “Hi” Janis says softly as (Y/N) gets in. “Hey” (Y/N) says hugging Janis. Janis looks past (Y/N)’s shoulder, “your parents are gone again?” (Y/N) nods slowly pulling away from the hug and looking down at their plush. They head to Janis’ house. “My mom is already asleep but I know she won’t mind you being over she loves you” Janis says glancing over at (Y/N) but keeping most of her focus on the road. (Y/N) lets out a small laugh. “Your mom is so nice” (Y/N) says sounding more relaxed than they were on the phone. Janis is relieved to hear (Y/N) sounding less sad as the pull into Janis’ drive way. They both grab their things and head inside, up to Janis room. Janis flicks on the light to her room taking off her shoes and hoodie. As she takes off her hoodie it lifts her shirt slightly, exposing her stomach. (Y/N)’s gaze drifts to Janis’ stomach unintentionally, admiring her before quickly snapping out of their daydream quickly removing their shoes and hoodie. (Y/N) hopes Janis didn’t notice but she most certainly did and was trying to hide the light cast of red that now appears warmly on her cheeks. “Wanna watch a movie or are you too tired?” Janis questioned trying to distract herself from the butterflies fluttering in her stomach. “Um could we watch a movie?” (Y/N) asked. “Yeah sure, Disney?” Janis said getting into her bed with her laptop patting the spot next to her for (Y/N). (Y/N) nodded and sat next to Janis getting under the blanket. The two of them watched the movie slowly getting closer with each scoot or readjustment to the point were they were almost cuddling. (Y/N) notices this and gets butterflies in their stomach, looking up at Janis and studying her features they movie was no longer on their mind as they admired Janis’ beauty. Janis felt their gaze and turned making eye contact with (Y/N). They both blushed. (Y/N) looked down at Janis’ lips and that’s all it took for her to pull (Y/N) into a gentle kiss. (Y/N) melted into the kiss. (Y/N) leans up and kisses Janis very passionately then pulls away. “I think I want you to be my girlfriend if that’s ok with you” (Y/N) says hopefully. “Yes absolutely yes” Janis says kissing (Y/N) on the forehead “now get some rest baby, I’m here you’re not alone anymore, I’m always gonna be here.” When Janis says this (Y/N)’s heart melts. “Good night J…I love you” (Y/N) mumbles sleepily into Janis’ neck. “Good night (nickname) I love you too” Janis says blushing. They fall asleep, limbs tangled together. (Y/N) felt so safe and comfortable they could get used to having a girlfriend.

It’s spring break and (Y/N) is bored out of her mind. *ping* suddenly someone texts (Y/N). She sees that it’s from Janis. Smiles even before reading.

J💕: hey wanna come over and watch movies?

(Y/N): yeah

(Y/N): when should I head over?

J💕: I’m setting up rn so maybe in like 30?

(Y/N): ok see you soon

Without waiting for a response (Y/N) rushes to get ready. She wants to look nice but not overdressed. She decides to wear her favorite pants and her sweater Janis said looked cute on her. (Y/N) smiles and blushes looking back on that interaction. Snapping out of her daydream to check her phone. She has about 10 minutes before she has to leave. Putting on some very light makeup (a little blush, mascara and cherry lipgloss). Packing a small bag with a couple snacks. “Bye mom I’m going to my friend’s house” (Y/N) says as she walks out the door. Taking the short drive to Janis’ house and parking. (Y/N) goes to the door and is gonna knock but gets nervous and texts Janis instead.

(Y/N): hey Jan I’m outside

“Art and theater, that’s the gayest thing I’ve seen since Damian” Regina half joked “we literally have every other class together plus break and lunch, I guess you’ll be seeing me a lot” Janis said with a laugh “that’s honestly really cool, I’ll have someone fun in at least half my classes” you say with a wink

*ring* *ring* “well that’s the bell let’s head to homeroom” Cady says with a smile putting on her backpack and holding Regina’s hand while you all walk to class, you and Janis are in the back of the group walking close to each other but both focused on your phones, you’re texting your friend from back home and Janis is looking at what yarn to buy for her new project. Once you guys get to homeroom the group decided to sit together until they inevitable get separated for talking too much. “Good Morning class, happy Monday, My name is Mrs. Norbury and I will be your home room teacher this year, I was just informed we have a new student here from Florida so everyone please welcome (Y/N) and be kind to her” Mrs. Norbury says “thank you Mrs. Norbury” you say a little awkward Cady kindly puts her hand on your shoulder to comfort you. The class goes by pretty quickly. “So we’ll see you guys after this class, meet at the tree as usual?” Janis asks “yeah I’m so glad we all have A break and lunch this year” Cady says with a smile then gives you a hug “see you later (Y/N)” “bye cads, bye guys” you say before turning to Janis “follow me” Janis says sticking out her hand for you to grab and you do. You to get to class and sit next to each other in the back of the class. The teacher passes out a get to know you worksheet which you finish quickly then pull out your sketchbook to doodle. You’re doodling for like 10 minutes when you feel a light tap on your shoulder, it’s Janis you look at her a little confused then she shows you her sketchbook, it’s a small sketch of the friend group and to your surprise you see an in progress sketch of yourself. This causes you to blush a little, you’re not exactly sure why but you face definitely felt warm and there was definitely butterflies in your stomach “woah that’s really cool” you say quietly “thank you” Janis says turning away quickly, was Janis- no she couldn’t be blushing from such a simple compliment. The rest of class is pretty quiet with you two showing each other progress from your sketches. Class ended and you went to your next class saying good bye to Janis. Math went quickly and before you know it, it was break so you head to the tree from this morning to meet with the rest of the group. “So how’s everyone’s first day of senior year going so far?” Aaron asks “good, really chill” says Janis “for me it’s been going by really fast but it’s fun” you say “oh my goodness I can’t believe how easy today has been” Gretchen says with a sleepy Karen leaning on her “honestly a lot more boring than I expected” Regina says fixing her hair “I’m having an amazing day, that cute theater boy that I’ve been talking to has 4 classes with me” Damian says really happy “ooo ok Damian” you say hyping him up a bit “I am not having fun, I want to go home” Karen says leaning more into Gretchen “aw Karen what’s wrong?” Regina asks concerned “someone called her stupid because she asked what day it was when it was written on the board” Gretchen says holding Karen close “don’t listen to them Karen, they don’t know you, you’re incredibly smart and amazing, ok?” Janis says upset, Karen smiles a little very appreciative of Janis caring so much. You almost smile at how defensive Janis got for Karen seeing this caring side of her melted your heart in the best way. The break ended and you headed to study hall with Janis since none of your teachers were crazy enough to give you homework on the first day you and Janis talked quietly in the back about the different types of art she liked and how she does a lot of mixed media art. Every time you talk to Janis about art it feels like you two are the only two people on earth and like time stop. When the period ended she decided to walk you to theater since her class was in the same direction. Though you haven’t known her that long Janis made you feel really special, it was weird you felt like you didn’t need to put your walls up to protect yourself, you were just you. Exchanging goodbyes and saying you’d see each other at lunch. Theater was fun and easy, you played a name game

you played a name game so everyone could introduce themselves and then a few other games. The bell rang. Lunch time!

The cafeteria was honestly kind of chaotic but you ended up spotting Cady’s red hair very easily. You sat across from Cady knowing Regina would be siting next to her “hey cads” “hi (y/n) how were your classes?” “Good, how about yours?” “Eh pretty boring” Regina, Gretchen, and Karen come over giggling about something “I’m gonna go get cheese fries does anyone else want anything while I’m up?” Regina says “water please” you say and she gives you a nod “hmm i don’t know surprise me?” Cady says with a shrug. Regina leaves Gretchen and Karen follow as Damian and Aaron come over “no dude I’m telling you sports are way less complicated than that” Aaron says trying to convince Damian to watch some sport game with him “hey Damian where’s Janis?” You say a little worried “oh she’s in the art room she wanted to ask Ms. Jones if she had some yarn Janis could use” “oh ok…is she coming to lunch?” “Yeah she should be back in like 5? minutes” a few minutes later Regina, Karen, and Gretchen come to the table then Janis comes over and sits next to you taking one of your chips “Hey!” You say moving your chip bag away from her and she laughs “what you can’t share 1 chip with me?” Janis jokes “I can but you could’ve at least asked silly” you say laughing a bit “ok after school we should totally go to Regina’s house” Karen said “oh absolutely, my mom said that she misses you guys” Regina say.

Art class goes the same as all of the other classes you’ve had with Janis but this time you paint it’s really good quality paint especially since it’s from the school. You and Janis have been close all day. “Alright last class of the day, have fun” Janis says “you too, see you at Damian’s car?” You say “yeah see you later” she gives your hand a small squeeze then heads off to her class. You were definitely blushing from that, ugh this girl has only been your friend for 3 days but this felt different a good difference.

Regina👛: y’all wanna go swimming? Today has been pretty warm and as you all know my pool is heated plus there’s a jacuzzi so like if you don’t want to go in the pool we could just chill

“Oh my goodness I really like Janis but what if I’m a bad kisser like what if she gives me a chance and-“ your rambling is stopping by Regina putting a finger to your mouth “Y/n calm down, we can just kiss and I’ll tell you how you do” “This isn’t gonna make things weird between us right?” You say cautiously “Y/n, kisses don’t always have to mean you like someone like that, me, Gretch, and Karen practice kissing all the time, I know you like Janis and since you’re my friend I want to help you” Regina says trying to get you to chill out “Well…ok then” you both lean in and kiss it’s nice really nice you both pull away before the kiss can escalate in any way “Wow you’re a really good kisser y/n” Regina says wiping her smeared lipgloss of the bottom of her lip “Oh um thanks” you say blushing a little “um well I’m gonna go thank you so much Regina I really appreciate” you say pulling her in for a hug. “Of course any time, Bye y/n” she says as you leave, Regina calls Gretchen as soon as she hears the front door close down stairs

Janis was definitely concerned, Regina said please and wants to talk to her. Janis quickly got ready and headed over to Regina’s house on her skateboard

“Ok I’m gonna go call me after you talk to her for a debrief” Gretchen said hugging Regina “I don’t even know what to say” Regina complained “just be honest, you got this Gina” Gretchen says pulling away from the hug “bye Gretch” Regina said with a sigh

Shortly after Gretchen left there’s a knock at the front door. Regina heads down stairs and answers it. “Janis, wow you got her fast” “uh yeah hi, what did you want to talk about?” Janis said leaning in her board “oh um right, let um go to my room” Regina said awkwardly, alarming Janis slightly but still following Regina upstairs. The enter Regina’s room and she closes the door. “Ok don’t get mad and don’t freak out, ok?” Regina said hesitantly “ok…?” Janis said confused but wanting to know what Regina has to say “ok so I know (Y/N) likes you and I’m pretty sure you like her too which makes sense but I decided to help her out because she was worried about being a bad kisser and you know I help Gretchen with that all the time but with (Y/N) it felt different my whole body was like tingly in a good way and I think I have a crush on her which is honestly really weird because I haven’t felt like this since- “ Regina paused her rambling and made eye contact with Janis realizing the feelings that she thought were gone flooded back like they never left “since us…?” Janis said “yeah” Regina said softly “so we both like y/n, that’s ok, feelings aren’t something you can control Reg, I’m not mad at you for liking her she’s awesome” Janis said calmly “J I- never mind” Regina said too scared to continue which was weird given her usual confidence “Reg you gotta be completely honest with me for us to work, so what is it talk to me?” Janis said putting a gentle hand on Regina’s knee to show she’s not trying to be threatening “J I think my feelings for you never went away but that doesn’t make sense because how could I like y/n and you, you can only like one person at a time” Regina said starting to be more confused with herself and feelings “that’s actually not true, you can like a lot of people, it’s called being polyamorous, I’m polyamorous” Janis said a little nervous “wait really?” Regina said with a slight head tilt “yeah, also I think I still have feelings for you too which I have definitely been trying to ignore” Janis said looking down at her hands “wait what? Really? Don’t mess with me Janis that’s not funny” Regina said getting defensive “Reg, chill” Janis said putting her hand on Regina’s thigh. Regina’s breath hitched in her throat as she looks down at Janis’ hand then back up at Janis “J, I um” Regina said blushing “oh um sorry I didn’t um” Janis said pulling her hand off of Regina, Regina stopped her and and said “Janis can I um can I kiss you?” Janis nodded starting to lean in for a kiss, Regina connected their lips the same spark Regina felt earlier with y/n was there again but with Janis. They both pulled away “wow” Janis said blushing “you’re good at that” Regina giggled

*buzz* *buzz* Regina’s phone vibrated, it was y/n calling

“It’s y/n” Regina said to Janis “answer it” said Janis “ok” Regina said answering the call

“Hello?” “Hey Gina um can we talk about are um kiss from earlier?” You said worried she be mad about you bringing it up “yeah what’s up?” Regina said “um I think it meant something to me and I’m kind of hoping it meant something to you too? Also I have to be honest I still like Janis so i don’t know I feel really confused” you said freaking out a little “hey y/n” Janis said making you freak out more “JANIS?!?!” “The one and only” you couldn’t see her but you could hear the smirk on her face the way she said it “did you um hear everything I just said?” You said sounding worried “yeah but I also heard Regina have a very similar freak out a few minutes ago so don’t worry” “wait what?” “I like you y/n…and I also like Janis” Regina said “WAIT SO WE ALL LIKE EACH OTHER?” Happy shocked “Yeah” Janis said with a small laugh “um y/n you should come over to my place, Janis is already here and I feel like maybe we should um just like all be together right now you to like figure out what this means for us?” Regina suggested “um yeah absolutely I’ll be there soon” you said putting on your shoes

Janis is absolutely obsessed with the girl that sits in front of her in math class. She’s pretty and she’s smart and she’s really nice, always helping Janis with the assignments and occasional slipping her the homework answers. “Pst Janis” you whispered as you turned around in your seat “yeah?” Janis whispered back “wanna be partners for the math game we’re doing” you asked “what math game?” Janis says confused “the one Ms. Norbury was just telling us about?” Janis had been too busy daydreaming about you and doodling in her notebook to even notice “oh um yeah sure I’d love to be your partner, uh like f- for the game” Janis said tripping over her words “cool” you said with a smile

The game started and your hand lightly brushed Janis’ when you went to grab the whiteboard marker. Janis felt like her hand was on fire in the best way and like her head was spinning. The game went by pretty smoothly with you and Janis getting second place “good job” you said offering Janis a hug. You’d never done something like that before usually it was a high five or a fist bump but a hug? Janis obviously accept the offer, you smelled really nice and you were warm and a good hugger, you squeezed a little but not too tight which Janis really liked. You slipped a piece of paper into her back pocket while you hugged, the paper had your number and socials and said *hey :) text me* the bell rang and you two went to you separate classes “bye Janis see you around” you said with a smile and a wave “bye y/n” Janis said with a dorky smile on her face

“Hey guys what is up? What’s the hot goss of the first day of school?” A woman who you are assuming is Regina’s mom says as you all entered the house “hey mom, not much happened today but we were planning on using the pool while the sun’s still out and warm” Regina replied “ooo totally fun I’ll get you guys some snacks and drinks” “thanks mom we’re gonna go upstairs and change” you all went upstairs to the large guest room were Regina kept extra clothes and swimsuits for the group which you thought was really cool. “Ok boys you can change in here or the bathroom and us girls will go in my room” Regina said as everyone grabbed their swimsuits “I think I’ll change in her with the boys since there’s a lot of us” Janis says heading over with Aaron and Damien “are you sure?” Cady asked “yeah so we can be ready faster” Janis says with a half convincing smile, in reality she’s just not ready to change near you, it’s taken her a lot of time to build her confidence to feel comfortable enough to change in front of Regina and the other three girls with their “perfect” bodies as Janis likes to describe them. “Hmm ok if that’s what you want” Cady says not convinced “yep” Janis says heading to the other room. “Here y/n you can try these on and whatever fits or you’re more comfortable with you can wear” Regina says handing you a few bathing suits “thank you” you say with a smile “um you can go change in the bathroom if that’s more comfortable for you” Regina says pointing to the closed door behind you “oh yeah totally” you say and go in the bathroom to get changed. everyone gets done changing and the boys plus Janis are waiting in the kitchen for the rest of you. “Ok pool time” Regina says as she walks towards the sliding glass door that leads to the pool “sunscreen” Cady says handing you two different ones (the spray kind and the lotion kind) you take the one you like “thanks cads” you start putting sunscreen on but can’t really get your back, Cady’s busy helping Regina so you decided “hey Janis could you help me out?” “Oh um yeah sure, just your back?” She asks walking up behind you “yeah thank you so much you’re a life saver” you say with a small laugh as she helps put sunscreen on your back. With your back to her you miss the redness that’s starting to form on her cheeks, she’s blushing. “Omg Regina look” Gretchen whispers to Regina pointing at you and Janis “aw they’re adorable” the boys and Janis decide to have a squirt gun fight “if I get sprayed y’all are going home” Regina says half joking, you laugh a little sitting at the edge of the pool with your feet in the water. You’re just chilling when you see Aaron pointing his gun at you giggling a little “AARON DONT YOU DARE” you say trying to block your face “don’t worry I’ll save you you hear someone say causing you to move you hands from your face to see Janis absolutely soaking Aaron. Janis walks over to you and you stand up “my hero, how can I ever repay you?” You say draping your arms on her shoulders “a date, perhaps?” Janis says blushing a little “oh a date?” You say with a smile, blushing “you can say no…” Janis says looking down at the ground “how could I say no to you, I’d love a date just give me details” you say with a wink, walking away from her to grab a snack. Janis watches you walk away, she won’t admit it but she was definitely staring at you, admiring every inch of you thinking about how beautiful you are. About an hour later everyone has had enough pool time “movie night? I know we have school so if you can’t I understand but you know my mom is always ok with sleepovers” the group agrees that it would be fun. Everyone showers while Regina’s mom orders pizza and gets a couple snack trays together. Everyone gathers in the living room. Regina, Cady, Gretchen, and Karen on the big couch that folds out like a bed, the boys on the smaller couch that does the same, and you and Janis are sitting next to each other on the air mattress and are sharing a blanket.

“So what movie are we watching?” Damian asks looking a Regina since she has the remote “can we wat-“ Cady goes to speak “if you suggest the lion king again I swear to god Cady, love you to death but please we’ve seen that so many times” Aaron says, Cady crosses her arms and lays on Regina visibly grumpy “it’s ok princess I’ll watch it with you soon, don’t be grumpy” Regina whispers to Cady giving her a kiss on the forehead “ooo what about that one movie with the blonde girl who’s like really smart and goes to that one smart people school?” Karen says “OH MY GOODNESS LEGALLY BLONDE?” Damian says sitting up, excited “yeah that one” Karen says with a smile “wait we watched that last movie night” Gretchen says with a slight head tilt “ok hear me out, Lilo and Stich?” You say “yesss please I love that movie” Janis looked up at Regina “ok who want to watch Lilo and Stich? Raise your hand” Regina asks, you and Janis immediately put your hands up, Karen and Cady also put their hands up “you know what yeah let’s watch it” Aaron says also putting his hand up “ok so Lilo and Stich it is” Regina says with a small laugh and puts on the movie “yay you say eating a slice of pizza and without thinking you start leaning on Janis, she doesn’t mind she thinks it’s cute and keeps eating her food while watching the movie. Regina secretly takes a picture of the two of you. As the movie continues you start feeling sleepy, Janis wraps her arm around you and plays with your hair as you slowly doze off “awww” Damian says looking at the two of you “shhh, D she’s sleeping” Janis says giving him a slight glare. Cady is asleep and so are Gretchen and Karen. There’s still about 15 minutes left of the movie and Janis is starting to doze off. You wrap your arms around Janis more in your sleep, you’re both lying on the floor. Regina is the last one awake and decides to take another picture and smiles at how adorable the two of you look before she decides to try sleeping too.

You’re somewhat out but only to a few people (out to Ms. Norbary, Janis, Damian, and your brother) You don’t know about Cady and Janis’ scheme to take down Regina. Also you and Janis have kissed before but you two say you’re just friends, both worried the other doesn’t feel the same (you’re both a little dumb and very gay)

After the fight of Janis and Cady at Cady’s house, (Y/N) is at Janis’s house waiting outside for the girl to arrive, shortly after (Y/N)’s arrival Janis arrives with Damian “(Y/N) what are you doing here?” She says surprised but very happy to see you “well I was at your art show and wasn’t able to get these to you” you hand her a bundle of paper flowers you made “and my brother told me you and Cady had a fight so I decided being here now might be better than waiting till school tomorrow” you say with a small smile and a shrug “aw cute also bye I’ll see y’all tomorrow” Damian says as he leaves “bye” you and Janis say at the same time, waving goodbye to him “that’s really sweet of you I really appreciate, um do you want to come in?” janis says looking at you hoping you say yes “if it’s not a bother to you I’d love to spend some time with you” you say with a smile “yeah, please come in” Janis says letting you in and you both head to Janis’ room, It’s covered in art, like all of it “woah your room is really cool” you say looking around taking it all in “oh uh thank you” Janis says with a big smile, blushing a lot “wait, is Janis ‘Imi’ike blushing?” You say in a teasing tone “whaaa nooo it’s…paint?” Janis says trying and failing to think of a good lie “hmm not convincing” you say with a smirk, realizing you’re really close to each other. You two are quite for a bit, it’s a comfortable silence, Janis stares into your eyes “woah, your eyes are like the night sky, so mysterious” she says causing you to blush “are you trying to flirt with me and get me to kiss you? Because it’s definitely working” you say wrapping your arms around her “mmm maybe? do i have consent to kiss you?” Janis says with a small smirk and her eyebrow slightly raised “oh absolutely” you both lean in, It’s a gentle kiss and it last a while until you both in need of air “woah that was” *deep breath* “amazing, you’re a really good kisser” you say with your nose touching hers “thank you, you are really good too” janis says blushing more before pulling you in for another kiss. You both pull away “can we watch a movie and cuddle or if that makes you uncomfortable we can-“ Janis started to ramble until you cut her off with a quick gentle kiss “you cute when you ramble” you say pulling her over to the bed the on top of you causing Janis to blush a lot “you’re warm” she says looking up at you “is that a good thing?” You ask slightly confused Janis nods snuggling closer to you “so um… do you wanna tell me exactly what happened with you and Cady?” You ask slightly hesitant “well, she was supposed to come to my art show but she said she had a family trip. I checked insta after my show and saw a bunch of people posting at cady’s house. I was pissed so I went over to her house to check it out, I ended up yelling at her and she said ‘it’s not my fault that you’re obsessed with me’ and-“ Janis says getting upset, you gasp genuinely surprised because you thought Cady was a nice girl “no way? she said that?” You say also getting upset “yeah…” janis says not looking at you, you pull Janis really close to you and start playing with her hair something you’ve recently learned she likes “um can we actually stop talking about this…please” Janis says looking up at you “yeah of course…um you said something about wanting to watch a movie?” You say trying to remember your conversation from earlier “oh yeah, hmm can we watch…actually I don’t know what I want to watch” Janis says with slightly confused frown “we could do something else?” You say trying to hint at something “like what?” Janis says with a confused head tilt “like this” you say as you lean in and kiss Janis, she pulls away

“woah, don’t get me wrong I really like you, like more than a friend but don’t you think this is a little fast?” Janis asks concerned “oh um, maybe? I don’t know…if you want to take things slow that’s totally ok I hope I didn’t just ruin our night completely…I’m sorry…” you’re worried you went to far and looks down at your hands, you mind is scrambled and your thoughts are racing. Your thoughts are interrupted by Janis gently grabbing your chin to make you look at her then pulling you in for a quick gentle kiss “you don’t need to be sorry, I think it’s cute that you want to make out with me already but can we just talk about what we are first because I don’t want to assume how you feel about me, we’re friends first above everything, your friendship means more to me than anything…but don’t tell Damian that he’ll be mad that I like you more” she jokes slightly at the end hoping to make the topic change smoother “our friendship means the world to me but I really want to be more than that and I’ve know about this feeling since like freshman year, which is kind of crazy to think about especially with everything that happened before that…” you say recalling the chaos of middle school, the spin the bottle incident, the bunsen burner incident, Janis being kicked out of school for a semester, you staying friends with Janis and Regina through it all was confusing and hard but Regina couldn’t get rid of you because of your brother and there was no way you were letting go of Janis she was your everything. “Honestly I think I’ve liked you longer than that but I finally came to terms with it freshman year” you say blushing a little trying not to make eye contact “aww you’re being so cute” Janis says with a laugh poking at your arm “…I think I’ve always liked you but I never told you because at first I was scared to tell people I’m gay, then the whole thing with Regina, and honestly… I just never thought you’d like me like that…” Janis says a little embarrassed “well I definitely do like you like that” you say making eye contact with her “get over here cutie” you say opening up your arms to cuddle with Janis, she immediately wraps her arms around you “so…are we girlfriends now?” Janis asks hesitantly “um yeah…but I don’t know if I’m ready to tell people since well my parents still don’t know about me being…” you voice trails off at the end “oh…well we don’t have to tell people, we can be girlfriends and just tell Damian?” Janis suggests “I think I like that, yeah I like that idea” you say smiling a little “so my lovely girlfriend, wanna cuddle?” Janis asks “I thought we were cuddling?” You say looking at her confused “mmm we’re not close enough” she says as she tangles her legs with yours, pulling you closer to her and making the both of you lay on you sides so you’re facing each other “aww you’re such a softie” you say playing with her hair “only for you cutie, only for you” Janis says giving you a gentle kiss causing you to giggle a little while blushing. You are still playing with her hair and she is softly drawing patterns on your back under your shirt. Janis starts falling asleep and so do you.

Turning your phone off of airplane mode and you had a few notification, one stood out to you at the bottom, a voicemail?

*voicemail from “Art cutie🎨”*

You decide to pop in your headphones to give it a listen

“Hey it’s Janis I know you just landed and I know you’re probably busy but I would love to see you so call me when you can”

Janis…your mind drifts back to your first time meeting her, exactly two months ago at the art exhibition back in California, it was a college student art exhibition for a few chosen students from different states to display their art. Getting the email that you were chosen and getting a free trip to California was awesome. You met so many amazing artists and you met this one person, Janis ‘Imi’ike. The prettiest person you’ve ever met, she was nice and helped you set up your display. After the event you to exchanged contact information to stay in contact given the fact you lived in different states from each other. Over the two months you two had gotten close, it felt different than any other friendship or even relationship you’d ever been in. She sends you good morning texts and good night texts which makes you have this warm fuzzy feeling that’s totally not a crush. You had a trip to New York planned for about 5 months now, when you made the plans you only knew one person living there, Damian Hubbar, you met him when you were working on set design on your last trip out here which was a work trip, he told you about his friend and shockingly you ended up meeting her without Damian, you’re snapped out of your trip down memory lane when you bump into someone “oh my gosh I’m so sorry” you say picking up your phone from the ground and you look up to see “Damian! What are you doing here man” you say a little surprise to find him at the airport “girl I’m here to pick you up, did you not get my text?” Damian said a little confused “oh shoot yeah sorry I saw it” you say remembering that Damian had sent to a few text “well let’s go bitch, we’re gonna head to my place to drop off your stuff and I was thinking we could maybe surprise Janis at her new studio, you know with the opening being today” Damian says grabbing one of your bags “oh yes absolutely” You said as you both continued to walk to the exit of the airport.

You guys made a quick stop at Damian’s apartment it was really nice, you dropped off your bags and Damian’s boyfriend decided to join you guys to go see Janis.

The drive was pretty short. The studio was absolutely beautiful, there was a mural at the entrance that you assumed Janis made. “All right we are about 5 minutes early so we can get out and hang out at the front before more people come” Damian said parking the car. There are a few people already there, “Damian omg what took you so long” the shorter of the three girls asks “I’m sorry Gretch I had to pick this one up from the airport” Damian says referring to you, you had seen these girls before but only in Instagram posts and stories “oh is this the famous y/n Janis won’t shut up about?” the tall blonde asks “um uh yeah? It’s nice to meet you guys” you say a little awkward “I’m Regina, this is Karen and-“ “I’m Gretchen” Gretchen says when Regina points at her to introduce herself “Regina, Karen, Gretchen, got it” you say giving them a thumbs up. The doors open to reveal a mildly stressed Janis “psst D, I need your help” Janis whisper yells causing Damian to rush over to her “I can’t reach the pamphlets” she says frustrated “it’s ok tiny gay I’ll save the day” he jokes, Janis rolls her eyes as he hands her the box “thank you, now you have to help pass them out” she says sticking her tongue out at him, you let out a small laugh observing their interaction. “Hey everybody welcome to the official opening of my art studio, thank you all for coming we have a lovely array of art and drinks” winking with the last word “please grab a pamphlet on your way in, they have descriptions of each art piece that I have currently up, when my next few art related events are, and my contact info for commission and other things” Janis says with a smile on her face followed by applause from the people attending. You go in and mingle for a while grabbing a drink and enjoying how amazing the art is, you’re especially drawn to her mix media pieces.

“Y/n? You-you made it? You actually came” Janis says as tears start to well up in her eyes “surprise? I told you I’d be in Manhattan, why wouldn’t I come to your opening?” You say pulling her in for a hug “I don’t know I thought maybe you’d be too tired to come you know jet lag” she says a little embarrassed “you’re right the jet lag is crazy but I wouldn’t want to miss something so important to you, you know I even moved to an early flight for you” you say with a small slightly embarrassed smirk “what! really?” Janis says genuinely surprised “yeah” you say with a nod. You and Janis mingle around and meet some new people until around 6:30pm. “Y’all wanna get tacos and then head to the nice gay bar” Regina suggests “oooo fuck yeah it’s the one by the theater right?” Janis asks “yeah and the really good taco place across the street” Regina says with a nod. You guys head to the taco shop, order and sit down together, you become the topic of conversation “Soooo how’s life, do you have a boyfriend or…girlfriend?” Gretchen asks “Boys suck and girls…I’ve never tried…” you say a little embarrassed about the last part “ooo ok but girls interest you?” Gretchen asks just out of curiosity “Yeah I guess you could say that” if you wanted to be completely honest you would say there’s one girl that interests you and she just so happened to be sitting right texting to you while your lovely new friend probes you with questions “Gretchen?” Regina says “I think you’re scaring her just a little” Regina says in the nicest way she can with a bitchy under tone “oh sorry, I just get excited” Gretchen says “it’s ok” you say forcing a small smile then picking at you chipped nail polish

You guys eat then head to the gay bar. “It smells like glitter and-“ you say “vodka?” Janis interrupts “yeah” you say with a laugh and smile “wanna go dance?” Janis suggests seeing Karen and Gretchen over there already “drinks first then absolutely” you say walking over to the bar you tell him your order and he hands it to you as your about to pay Janis slips him her card and says “put it on my tab” winking at you then ordering a drink herself “you know you didn’t have to do that right” you say “yeah but I wanted to” Janis say looking into your eyes with a kind smile, your face feels a little warm maybe it’s just your drink maybe it’s Janis (it’s definitely Janis) god why did this girl have such an effect on you. You decided to give yourself the limit of one drink, it was a new space with people you didn’t know well yet. Regina pulled you on to the dance floor, “heyyy” Regina said “hi” you said with a small laugh noticing her semi drunk state. You two were dancing close, your back pressed up against your front dancing to the music. Janis watches from the bar, her eyes trace your body from your face all the way down, biting her lip, she looks up at your face again to see that you’ve been watching her too, slightly embarrassed she blushes and looks away. “You know you two would be really cute together” Regina whispers right into your ear, her warm breath startling you slightly “what” you say quickly looking away from Janis “I said you two would be cute together, she talks about you a lot and I’ve never seen her look at someone like that so you’re definitely special” Regina says turning you around to look at her “how long are you here for” Regina ask “well um honestly I don’t have a return date and long as I go back eventually…for like my stuff” you say looking down at your hands, you’ve officially finished college and you honestly aren’t sure what you’re doing next “you really like her don’t ya” Regina says with a giggle “yeah, I do I really do fuck but I’ve never done anything with a girl before like not even kissed” you say embarrassed and realizing this is the first time you’ve admitted your crush on Janis “Y/n you’ll be fine, just be honest with her she love communication” Regina says putting her hand on your shoulder then turning you in the direction of Janis with a small push. “Hey y/n do you um wanna get out of here?” Janis asks “yeah um that would be nice” you say with a small smile “yo D, we’re gonna head out I got us an Uber” Janis says giving Damian a hug “byee see y’all tomorrow” Damian says followed by the rest of the group exchanging farewells. Janis grabs your hand and pulls you outside “we’re heading to my place, do you need anything?” Janis asks “no I’m good” you say fidgeting with your rings, she slides her arm around your waist looking at you to make sure you’re ok, you smile and blush creeps up on to your cheeks “it’s really nice to see you again” she says leaning her head on your shoulder, your breathe becomes a little unsteady, she had such an effect on you and she was barely doing anything. You two got into the Uber and headed to her house the ride was quiet and her hand rested gently on your thigh the whole time, you two would make eye contact often but not say anything.

Finally arriving at her apartment “welcome to my slightly messy home, make yourself comfortable sit literally anywhere” she says as she picks a few things up off the floor, you admire all the art around her house, the finished and unfinished projects “thirsty?, I’ve got water and iced tea” she says opening the fridge “water please” you say, she grabs two bottles of box water (I feel like she’s a box water drinker) “thank you” you say looking up at her from where you’re sitting on the floor (floor is the best place to sit not up for debate) she plops down next to you “how are you?” She asks “I’m really good…I’ve missed you a lot if I’m being honest” you say fidgeting with the cap of your bottle “I’ve missed you too, even with the calling and texting, I really like being around you” she says looking at you with her hand gently resting on your thigh, your skin feels like it’s on fire but in a good way, a light pink dusts your cheeks. You two just look into each other’s eyes for a moment, “um do you wanna stay over?, you can borrow some of my clothes and I have an extra toothbrush” Janis offers “yeah that’s sounds fun, finally hanging out after two months, just the two of us” that last part you say a little more quietly “wanna play a game?” Janis suggests “um sure what do you have in mind” you say a little hesitant “uh I got a couple Nintendo games or I got Jenga and Uno” Janis says “ooo do you have mariokart?” You ask “um yeah of course I have Mariokart” Janis says with a small laugh getting up to turn on the TV and grab the controllers “thank you” you say as she hands you a controller, she sets up the game, you pick your character and car (I’m personally a yoshi person most of the time) and she picks hers. You guys play a few rounds you won twice and Janis has too so now you’re doing a tie breaker “oh I’m totally gonna beat you” Janis says biting her bottom lip to focus, you let out a scoff “you said that last round and lost” your tongue peeking out the side of your lips as you focused on trying to beat her. You win “HA I BEAT YOU” you say standing up and getting close to her, Janis is sitting on the couch, she pulls you close by your belt loops, you get flustered and lose your balance falling on top of her causing her to lay down with you on top of her “woah” you say blushing at how close your face is to her’s “hey cutie” Janis says with a wink

Its study hall the last class before lunch Janis is hyper, she definitely forgot her meds today and energy practically exploding out of her, calm and still are physical not possible for her. “Psst, y/n, hey hey psst” Janis says trying to get your attention, bouncing in her chair a little “hmm?” You say not completely giving her your full attention because you really want to finish this assignment “I’m bored can I borrow one of your fidgets, please?” She asks reaching over your shoulder and pointing to your fidget pouch on your desk “oh yeah of course” you say passing it to her “yay thank you” Janis says looking through it and picking out something. She sits behind you in this class so you don’t know what she’s doing but she’s quiet now so that’s new. You finish your assignment and turn around to check on Janis. “Hey, whatcha doin?” You say with a slight head tilt “nothing just uh drawing” Janis says with a shrug not looking up at you, fidgeting with one of the toys with one hand and drawing with the other, while bouncing her leg a little “nice, want some goldfish?” You ask “Oooo yessss” Janis says excitedly putting down her pencil and giving you her full attention “what’s the magic word?” You ask playfully “if you don’t give me goldfish I’ll bite you?” Janis says in a bright tone “um no the magic word was ‘please’…but I’ll give you some any way because you’re cute” you say with a smirk “yay goldfish” Janis says as you hand her a baggy of goldfish, you always bring extra snacks to share with her. The rest of the period you two draw and eat goldfish. The bell rings and you two pack up then head to lunch. You get to the table and Damian is already there. “Hey gays” he says with a little wave “hi Damian” you say with a laugh plopping down at the table “oh um J are you good? Are you off your meds again?” Damian asks with a little concerned look, Janis fidgeting with her hair “huh?” Janis was completely spaced out not paying attention “I asked if you are off your meds?” Damian said “oh um yeah but just my adhd ones this time, I ran out again and my mom is getting the refill today after her shift” Janis said with a thumbs up “oh ok…so how are you guys doing? any new gossip?” Damian says trying to make conversation “ooo yes I heard Karen and Gretchen got caught making out under the bleachers” you say trying not to be to loud or obvious when looking over at the plastics table seeing Regina talking aggressively at Gretchen and Karen “No fucking way!” Janis says suddenly interested in the conversation “yeah apparently Regina saw them and like lost her mind, my friend shares gym with them and got the whole thing on video” you say tossing a handful of goldfish in your mouth. The rest of the lunch period Damian talks about the theater drama, those theater kids are crazy. “Janis come on, we have art” you say grabbing her backpack “fuck yeah, art, this is gonna be tits” Janis says standing up and holding your hand as the two of you walked to class.

Art class was going well the teacher decided today was free choice so any medium and prompt all up to you, Janis decided to paint and ended up painting on herself instead of the canvas while you worked on a project you’d started a few days ago, “psst, y/n, psst” Janis says trying to get your attention “yeah baby?” You say not realizing what you called her “woah um uh” Janis blushes forgetting what she was going to say “oh shit” you say realizing what you said “J um uh you’re face is a little red” you joke “oh shut up, it’s your fault” she says embarrassed “aw don’t be embarrassed, I know you have a crush on me and now there’s no denying it” you say setting down your project and making your way over to her “woah woah wo-AH” she yelps as she falls off her chair “OH SHIT are you ok?” You say laughing a little “yeah just uh fell…for you” she says with a wink “oh you’re such a dork” you say helping her up “I could be your dork” Janis say with a wink and some new found confidence “oh yeah?” you say pulling her in so your faces are only a few inches apart and the gap could be closed with very little effort…

But the bell rings startling you both and causing you both to looking away from each other “meet at my locker after school?” You suggest “uh yeah” she says, you exchange a quick side hug and grab your stuff before heading to your last period of the day.

Class was going by pretty quickly, you finished your assignment early and were on your phone when Janis texted you

About 10 minutes pass and you see a frustrated janis walking down the hall “J what’s wrong?” You say brows furrowed and a concerned tone in your voice, gently placing your hands on her shoulders “my stupid teacher got mad at me for fidgeting” she said looking down at her hands “what the fuck that’s so stupid, you literally have so much information in your file stating all your accommodations” you say getting upset “I know and I reminded him but he said that I was just making up excuses” janis said tearing up a little “ok that’s it, we’re going to the principal right now and I’m gonna fix this” you say grabbing her hand “wait no, y/n it’s fine, I’ll be fine” janis says wiping away the tears that fell from her eyes “nope I’m gonna fix this, you’re so important to me janis and I’m not gonna let you struggle with an asshole teacher all year, there’s no way you’re gonna make it without your accommodations that’s why you have them, so please let. me. help. you. …please” you say cupping her face “…ok” she says eyes filling with tears again “don’t cry, I’m gonna fix it, I promise” you say pulling her into a hug as she hides her face in your chest.

After a long argument and a little yelling, Janis had a new schedule, no more asshole teacher, and significantly more classes with you, you wanted to be able to protect her and it’s kind of hard to do that in separate classes. “Thank you y/n, I- I really appreciate you” Janis says fidgeting with her sleeves “of course…wanna go get ice cream?” You suggest “um absolutely yes” Janis said, sadness quickly replaced with excitement. The two of you spent the rest of the day together, ice cream then headed back to her place to hang out in her garage, movies snacks cuddles and…
