So basically Madison Montgomery's iconic quote happens to be so fucking applicable to the fucktastic finale to Bong Joon-Ho's "Snowpiercer" when that polar bear is all like "SURPRISE BITCH" all up in Yona's (Ko Ah-Sung) face who's all like "Whuuuuuuuuuuuuut?!" LOL.

And before you ask... YES. These GIFs I made are indeed taken from the third act of the film, so yeah. SURPRISE BITCH! ;)

The original unedited version of "Snowpiercer" finally premiered in the Philippines and I could not be any happier about this! Saw the film and it more than exceeded my already high expectations despite me already knowing the plot from my other friends around the world who saw it before me. That being said, I highly guarantee you should all watch this extraordinary film in its full and intact version.

This Is An Important Snowpiercer PSA

Okay, so let me settle this once and for all because it ticks me off so much when I go to the "Snowpiercer" tag on Tumblr and I read comments like THESE: "Oh, Snowpiercer is amazing but it was just basically The Hunger Games on a train..." OKAY CUNT, YOU WEREN'T PAYING FUCKING ATTENTION. For the record, the film is based on a series of FRENCH GRAPHIC NOVELS called "Le Transperceneige" conceived way back in 1982 and obviously PREDATING "The Hunger Games" which debuted in 2008, and even the acclaimed Japanese novel, "Battle Royale" in 1999, from which THG is often compared to and accused of being a total rip-off. So you ignorant fuckers better not make that damn comparison because basically "Snowpiercer" is the film that the "The Hunger Games" franchise WISHES it was, and it's all in just ONE SINGLE MOVIE. Now, I love the THG universe as much as the next Tribute, but let's not go as far to compare the world of Katniss Everdeen with the world of Curtis Everett, okay? They may be two reluctant protagonists fighting an oppressive regime of the privileged powers that be, but that is basically where their similarities end because they both have different character arcs that are unique to their respective worlds. Also, the Korean director who helmed "Snowpiercer" took the ENTIRE source material comprising THREE SEPARATE BOOKS and brilliantly compressed and distilled the themes and references of "Le Transperceneige" into just ONE FILM ADAPTATION that was carefully constructed with care and extreme attention to detail as opposed to hashing out several individual movies clearly generated simply for profit at the expense of thirsty niche audiences obsessed with a specific fictional universe (I'm side-eyeing you so hard, Twatlight). Furthermore, "Snowpiercer" features brilliant POC actors (Koreans Song Kang-Ho and Ko Ah-Sung and Academy-Award winner, Octavia Spencer) in major roles alongside their Caucasian counterparts, which (let's be fucking honest here) is a goddamn rarity in any given Hollywood blockbuster standalone film or ongoing franchise. So to recap: "Snowpiercer" is NOT "the Hunger Games on a train", okay?! It is an emotionally compromising masterpiece of a film based on a FRENCH graphic novel series directed by a KOREAN director and features a RACIALLY DIVERSE ensemble cast of actors and showcasing POST-APOCALYPTIC THEMES with a refreshing twist while providing biting social commentary at the same time. Haters gonna hate, but oh gee, look at all the fucks I give to your counterpoints. In the famous words of the deliciously despotic Minister Mason... Hey, remember when we watched this scene for the first time and thought that Curtis told Edgar to forget because it was useless to dream about steaks when it was probable they’d never eat one again? When we thought he just didn’t want to give him false hopes? Like ‘you can’t have it for the moment, man, don’t dream about it or you’ll be disappointed’…

When we didn’t know yet that Edgar’s last steaks were human flesh? Probably Gilliam’s arm or leg, or even Edgar’s mom’s that Curtis had killed?

002 Snowpiercer Character Headcanon Biography : Edgar +++ Unaware to the horrifying events that happened before and after the maiden voyage of the Snowpiercer, Edgar lived a rather hardscrabble childhood within the cramped confines of the Tail Section and always yearned to know what lies beyond the gates that the train guards constantly protect. Because of the complicated and terrible circumstances surrounding his background, Edgar was mainly raised through the combined efforts of Tanya and Curtis under the behest of the Tail Section's wise leader, Gilliam. As a child, he often asked questions about his parents and the only one who provided him with an answer was Gilliam, as Tanya and most especially Curtis, refused to entertain such queries. Even then, Gilliam only provided a curt response, saying that he did not know of his father and that his mother apparently succumbed to complications of hypothermia after braving the crowds and fiercely trying to protect Edgar from the cold. Edgar eventually stopped asking questions and learned to simply deal with the present rather than being fixated on a past that most everyone on the train wants to forget. While not officially considered as a genuine "train baby", he nevertheless grew up aboard the train and had to make do with his surroundings in order to experience some semblance of childhood and a sense of home with the motley crew of people he viewed as his surrogate family. He is good friends with Grey, given that they are roughly the same age and were born on Earth, but rarely do they spend time together because of Grey's responsibilities as Gilliam's bodyguard as they grew older. It was when Edgar turned 13 that he began to follow Curtis around and basically viewing him as a big brother and role model as opposed to being a parental figure like Tanya. Initially, Curtis rebuffed and discouraged Edgar from hanging around him too much but then eventually warmed up to him after the McGregor Riots and unofficially became his loyal lieutenant as he and Gilliam planned to stage the next revolution against the Front Section. Despite his hot temper and oftentimes abrasive personality, Edgar is well-liked by a lot of people in the Tail Section and would often entertain the train babies by making mocking impressions of the train guards and Minister Mason. During certain days where he could not finish his protein block, he would always give the leftovers to the Tail Section kids. This has led the Painter to create one of his best drawings in his collection: Edgar smiling with joy while being surrounded by rambunctious kids clamoring for his leftover protein block. Unbeknownst to Edgar, Curtis has secretly asked for this particular sketch and keeps it in his coat pocket to remind him that underneath the tough exterior Edgar projects to the rest of the world, there always lies a kind soul who would do anything for the well-being of others. +++ Many thanks to the guys over at twogoodarms, and also to fyeahsnowpiercer for regularly liking and reblogging my Snowpiercer posts.
