i read that if you have depression, or adhd, or any number of conditions that mentally blocks you from doing tasks (especially self-care tasks), if you have a character that you are or were really attached to and means a lot to you, telling yourself that that character would want you to do that task might actually motivate you to do so.

i just told myself that charles from henry stickmin would want me to brush my teeth and it actually gave me the energy i needed to do it. it didn't work with any other character 😭

(i also read that if you have adhd, turning it into a friendly competition with someone you know actually helps your brain want to do something. like you could go "i'm gonna clean my room faster than you," it might actually give you the motivation to do it)
