okay new tag game. do you actually recommend people play/watch/read/listen to your favorite media?
So I just finished Iron Widow like. An hour ago. And oh my GOD. It's DitF if it was peak like đđ first of all, the fact that there was an ACTUAL love triangle??? Love. LOVEEEEEE LOVE LOVE. But I think my favorite thing about the book is that there was no "redemption" for Zetian. She wasn't tamed. She wasn't made to bow down to authority. She wasn't "softened." She BECAME Female Rage. She encapsulated it. And yet, she still has a heart. She still cares for Yizhi. She still cares for Shimin. But love doesn't "tame" her. Love makes her stronger and I LOVE that so much đ I love that she gets to be morally dubious and damn near insane like YES. YES !!!!! YES. AND I LOVE THAT YIZHI AND SHIMIN ARE BASICALLY LIKE "go wifey we love you so much âĄ" through most of the book đ. I love that she had to use a cane or a wheelchair but this didn't diminish her power or worth as a person. I love that Shimin and Yizhi never try to control her, but they work with her. I loved Yizhi and Shimin's little interactions so much before they kissed. Like I was literally losing it to my friends like "GUYS. GUYS I'M NOT CRAZY. GUYS." And I wasn't and I was SO happy. I love that Zetian never forgives her family. Good. Fuck em ⥠I LOVE this book. (I literally wrote half a fic the day I read the hospital scene đ and now I need to write fluff of the triangle cooking together cuz the ending SHATTERED me.) I'm so so SO excited for the sequel this December. And the author is INCREDIBLE. They're so cool đ I've seen a few of their shorts on YouTube and I've been meaning to read this book since senior year (so like. A year, give or take a couple months) and now that I've read it?? UGH. AMAZING. AMAZINGGGGG.
Shimin being the softie when he had the highest body count before the Yellow Dragon came back is one of the reasons I love this book so much đ

I think my favorite part of the book, bar none, was Sima Yi freaking out: âWait, you two havenât fucked yet?!? No fucking wonder shitâs not working, I will deadass stop everything right now so you guys can go bang it out, I sincerely cannot overstate how important it is that you go get dicked down immediatelyâ
The furry hunting down a child in a forest is one of my fav moments thus far, another one being the furry gaining a magic shot gun (finished chapter 10 as of posting this)

You want to know why Inigo Montoya remains such an iconic and beloved character even 35 years after the Princess Bride came out?
It's because he's one of the few characters in fiction who has a story where he has dedicated his life to revenge, his whole motivation is about getting revenge....and he gets it! and then he isn't empty or despairing! he doesn't regret it! he's totally satisfied!
because so many stories about revenge or rage are about characters "seeing the futility of their actions" or learning "their desire for revenge has only made them the monsters they hated" FUCK THAT.
Inigo Montoya kills the man who kills his father, is allowed to live in the narrative after and be happy about it and it is so satisfying. it's fantastic. it's iconic.
let more characters rage against the world, bring it down with bloodied hands, and let them be FUCKING RIGHT about it. Let them celebrate their success with sharp grins, and let them live happy, full lives where they always remain proud/fulfilled for what they've done

So I decided to research the French Revolution as I'm hoping to write a book set in france at that time period. Anyways, I was like, Wheres a good source of information?

Heavenly Tyrant ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) are now up on Netgalley and Edelweiss! If you don't know what those are then don't worry about it. You'll be able to read it upon the official release, which WILL be on Dec 24 this year! So, a little more than 3 months to go. I'm freaking out because I have no idea if you'll like the book; it's very diffrent from Iron Widow in a lot of ways...but here is what to expect!

Does anyone have any book recommendations for my Alevel coursework. I was thinking about doing 'crime and punishment' or 'Iron widow' but I have no clue what to compare either of them with.
