at the moment i'm still fleshing out ideas for au's so these are kind of vague, but!
modern au: the archeron's are nouveau riche, and while some of their father's fortune was made honestly, most was acquired through lying to investors and tax evasion. in the height of their prosperity they could live anywhere in the world, and likely move quite often so that authorities can't catch on to their father's dodgy deals. nesta is still her mother's pride and joy and she enrolled her in dance classes as a child. as an adult she is classically trained, but how she uses that talent depends on where they are (geographically and financially). at some point in time her father is trialled and found guilty of his crimes, and the family are left with nothing while he's sentenced to spend time in a white collar prison. their mother passes away before he can be sentenced; her illness exacerbated by shame. if the loss of their money and parents doesn't cause her to spiral, an injury that stops her from being able to dance professionally will. she's probably not particularly close to feyre and barely knows where she is at the best of times, but she's very much attached to elain. in most supernatural based au's (tvd, btvs) nesta will be a powerful witch; but she won't always know how to handle that power.
bridgerton au: nesta is married off to an older, powerful man with ties to the monarchy shortly before her mother passes, but the marriage is very much convenience. in fact, he doesn't seem to be interested in women and spends more time with his proteges. nesta doesn't have any complaints about this; it means that she can indulge in affairs - for the sake of any platonic relationships in this au, this will be with a colonel cassian, and it's likely something that people whisper about. with their father mostly out of the picture she takes responsibility for her younger sisters and tries to help them find suitable matches. both are equally dismayed with her choices.
the hunger games au: the archeron's are one of the wealthier families from district one; at least, they were. when their father falls out of favour with president snow, most of their money stops rolling in. feyre, and surprisingly, nesta both put their name in the draw for extra food so that the money they do have can be spent elsewhere and they can keep up appearances. feyre's name is drawn for the hunger games when she's still young and the archeron's expect to never see her again, until she's crowned victor of her games. a few years pass, and they enjoy their youngest sister's winnings, but nesta's name is drawn in her last eligible year. their father suspects it's the presidents doing; a matter of spite. against all odds, she wins her games (many of the tributes died from hypothermia) but struggles to enjoy her winnings. when feyre marries a victor from district 2 who has been embraced by the capitol as one of their own, she assumes her youngest sister is lost forever. that is until the quarter quell reveals that they've been part of the resistance all along - and it would be bad optics if she didn't join them.
